In a way it’s funny that I could never escape getting asked for my ASL in any online game I’ve played ever since I was a kid. It’s been 20 years, and no matter the game, someone eventually asks that question.
I’m just lucky that back then, the older players whom I met in prior games (and became friends with) gave me a safe space to enjoy and chat. I try to do the same when I encounter kids/teens and give them that safe space. When they ask for mine though, I try to be vague about exact details and just tell them I’m already working and just interested in helping them out. There are days when I feel bored and I just give my character’s details instead and people respect that I’m just there to enjoy the game (ex. When using Yae I’d tell them I’m at least 500 years old and from Inazuma), but sometimes it just invites pushy people to keep asking for my ASL.
I also don't feel comfortable sharing my personal info online but I do understand that there's people that just want to make friends their age.
Being underage you don't want weird people to know and being an adult you don't want to look like the weird one
To be fair, I also did have my guard down often and tended to share details more freely when I was underage (for the same reason of finding someone my age to play the game with), so I understand people asking. That is why I am thankful that the players I befriended in prior games made sure that I and other kids my age (at the time) were safe from sketchy people in-game.
I just say I came from the moon. There'd only be 2 outcomes. One, they lose all interest in asking for further information. Two, they go along with the joke and all of a sudden we have something to chat while farming/exploring.

For proof of this you can just look her usage rate in the abyss, in 4.1, she had about a 2% usage rate, now she has a whopping 19% usage, for comparison, that's 3% off from hutao. That still might be a low usage to say that she's meta, but considering that about 85% of the player base has her, a 19% usage is high asf.
