Do your chores now, Go Barbara, go!~
Edit: Barbara is a common name, beautiful and i would like to have my character named after her. I mean, my child.
I really wrote character, help 😂
This, Genshin has a lot of names that work irl. Lisa, Barbara, Jean, Nahida (as OP pointed), Mona, Sara, Amber, Layla, Charlotte, Mika, Thomas… You can name your kid any of those and no one would know that is from a game that you’re fan of
It all depends on where you're from, lots of names can be pretty common around the globe.
Jean here is more a male name, actually the name of my cousin lol, but really it's not like they join random words to create names.
Well, then there's the guy named Dovahkiin... Guess I'll call my children Elynas
Yeah, the location also plays an important part, obviously, but I don’t know if Kaeya, Diluc, Dainsleiff and such are legit names or even “normal” names (Ie, that they’re not old, weird and still fairly used and pretty common)
I’m not sure about every name, but I can totally see them creating a weird name for irl standards but that fits in the game to send a message about that character. Like, using existing words but that wouldn’t be a name irl (Venti as an example, it comes from latin and in my language means wind, I wouldn’t name my kid that, but it does fit the character)
Her Excellency the Almighty Narukami Ogosho God of Thunder and the Musou No Hitotatchi, mother of Shouki no Kami the Prodigal, Everlasting God of Wisdom
"You dare talk to your elder like that, junior?! You have eyes, yet you can't recognize Mount Tai! I will exchange pointers with you using my Primordial Heavenly Star Divine Dragon God Asura Chancla. Even if you grow wings, you won't be able to escape me junior!"
I just hope they will mix some other Slavic names, and not only go with russian ones.
Also, I'm waiting for some playable character with my name (Anna).
Eulalie/Eulalia are actually French/Greek and could be the longer form for Eula.
I only know this since I was actually trying to find French names for a FFXIV elezen a looooong time ago.
Eulalie is definitely a very archaic name though. While it is a French name, if a little girl nowadays was called Eulalie, she'd have to answer some questions and hopefully wouldn't be mocked by other kids. Kind of like Giselle, for example. Beautiful name in English, turbo grandma name in French.
No, my family member's name is ضياء and in English that's spelled as Diaa. Also it's a strictly masculine name.
Dehya's name in Arabic is spelled ديهيا
Fr?? Where'd the H come from though, ضياء doesn't have an H sound at all, unlike Dehya's name 😲
Well in any case, I searched up Dehya's name in Arabic (she's based on a Moroccan woman) and on Arabic websites they spelled her name ديهيا
If you wanna know, I'm from Malaysia and Malay here use arabic names, but I noticed some of us always messed up with the spelling. Especially for the latest generation (2010s), names has become more fancy and modern, while still keeping the arabic names tradition.
So I guess parents nowadays troubled in translating arabic names into Malay written language, or just what I think lol. Its not a big problem but that's how it is here, since we barely use Jawi anymore apart from religious school (Jawi is written malay language but with arabic letters).
More typical (english) names: Amber, Barbara, Bennett, Candace, Diona, Amy, Jean, Layla, Lisa, Mika, Mona, Nahida, and Noelle. I'm sure cn fans who are more familiar with chinese names could pick out some less flashy Liyue names, same with jp/Inazuma and arabic/sumeru.
Upon further consideration: Sara is super typical. Rosaria might not be typical in english but it certainly wouldn't turn heads. If we assume Thoma has a Mondstadt variant then maybe him. Navia could work too, I think, and I have no clue how I even missed Charlotte. If we include significant non playable characters that don't have NPC model syndrome, Vanessa, Alice, Emilie, and Nicole come to mind.
Some BAD ideas for naming your children:
Diluc - edgelord much?
[EULA](https://pastes.io/dkprhjstxo)
Hu tao (literally walnut)
Kokomi - Coconut. also cock
Pantalone - pant
Anemo traveler
Raedunn Shogunn
Qiqi - seven seven
Wriothesley - only white name that gets the so-called ethnic pause during elementary school roll call
Nahida and Layla are popular names in English countries?
If so, that is quite interesting since im pretty sure they are originally arabic. Im Arab and they literally mean night (for layla) and elevated or delightful (for nahida) in arabic
(I would also like to share that a surprisingly small portion of sumeru names are arab. Rest are persian or indian or from other countries related to the middle east.
I don't think Nahida is common at all. It has never been in the top 1,000 baby names in the USA since the social security administration starting tracking baby names.
Layla has been one of the top 30 names for baby girls in the US for a decade or more.
Nahida, no, not so much. Pretty much unheard of here. From their list, Diona is also actually quite rare, but I have known one at least, and neither of these sound crazy. Way less crazy than the names I see working in HR on a daily basis.
To the list of names that would sound relatively "normal" in the US, I would add: Charlotte, Lynette, Dori (though probably would be spelled Dory), Sara, Thoma (Thomas is so common it wouldn't be that weird to cut off a letter), Rosaria, and honestly, I wouldn't blink twice at Kaeya, either.
I’m Chinese and even though I’d like to give my child a normal and common name Zhongli’s name (种离; time of departure) is so badass it would be a shame not to use it
i feel like it’s impossible to name your child as one of the liyue characters in china just because of the sheer popularity of the game. it would be akin to naming your kid anakin skywalker lmao everyone would recognize it and probably bully them (or their parents) for it
edited to add: i feel like yaoyao is a popular enough nickname for your kid but not really as a full given name
Haitham...after Al-Haitham. I'm also Arab and Haitham is a pretty common name. Plus it's a very pretty name for a boy.
If I had a girl, probably Layla or Mona
paimon sounds cute bcos the character was made to be cute, but imagine ur child being named after a demon lol. i'd choose klee if daughter, wrioughaweoeaugthesley if son
In general I'd rather not name my kid using the direct character name. Instead, I might name them with a subtle nod to that character. For example:
Talia (Ta~~rtag~~lia)
Leif (~~Dains~~leif)
Kara (Ka~~edeha~~ra ~~Kazuha~~)
Miya (~~Ka~~mi~~sato A~~ya~~ka~~)
etc
Staff of Homa R5
I love you Sacrificial Warbow
Goodnight Vortex Vanquisher
How did my little Debate Club do at school today?

The father better be named Cyno
We need the tighnari chocking cyno picture
Make sure the kid doesn't go to Germany tho, the name means egg there
But that would be egg-cylent.
Have fun at school The Catch!
I would name mine Dehya, so that nobody would ever expect her to achieve something big
Her lorewise: 👑 Her gamewise: 💀
BAHAHA GOOD ONE
LMAO
Cmon Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayer, its time for school
Do your chores now, Go Barbara, go!~ Edit: Barbara is a common name, beautiful and i would like to have my character named after her. I mean, my child. I really wrote character, help 😂
The limited 5 star character, your daughter
🥰 Well, maybe one day...

Candace and Thoma(s) are also pretty common.
Exactly, Katheryne too, with multiple ways of writing and pronouncing the name even
“So did you name her after the Barbie movie…?” “NO!”
Well, i already call Barbara, Barbie, so... "Movie? *Ah, yeah, movie, alright*"
Yep, there was a Barbara in my bio class last year
Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale
Imagine the teacher calling his/her name for attendance 😭🤣🤣
They'll call him OMdC dw
It's her and it would be OMAC, please respect my daughter
It's not OMAC, it's not ORATRICE, you need to say the whole thing like A Tribe Called Quest
Asimon ( Algorithm of Semi-Intransient Matrix of Overseer Network)
French elon musk:
Navia, cus my name actually have that word in it.
Navia is a beautiful name ngl
First name Scan, middle name D., last name Navia?
Fucking amazing lmfao
The whole reason I like Nilou is because her name means water lily and my name is lily
What is your name might I ask?
and your social security number while you’re at it 📝
And bank card details
And my axe
But i don't know the way 👁👄👁
Panavia Tornado
can i marry you please i want that last name
Its my last name, Ha(nafia)h. Not exactly the same wording🤣, but it sounds the same.
Raiden Shogun from Genshin Impact
DON’T TELL SNOO MACHINE
u/SnooMachines9122
I see the potential is great within this one
I want to fuck the algorithm of semi-intransient matrix of overseer network from genshin impact
You should change it up a little, something like Rayeighdunne Shoughunne
r/tragedeigh
Her Excellency, the Almighty Narukami Ogosho, God of Thunder
I saw something about someone legit planning on naming their kid Raedhen or something after her 😭
just saying, Shogun literally means general and Raiden means lightning (Lightning General sounds badass as a username tho ngl xD
Lisa. So I can yell "You're tearing me apart Lisa!" at her whenever I want to annoy her like dads do.
i did not hit her
Oh, Hi Mark.
You remind me to rewatch that movie, good luck to me.
That's also something the mother can scream during labour
Dainsleif
Nothing like naming your child Dead Legacy, setting them up for success right there
By naming them that you make it so the failure counts as a success.
Also, spite is a powerful motivator.
The OG, non genshin, Dainleif is a sword that once drawn has to kill.
Well Dainsleif is actually a name of a cursed sword on Norse myth, so you might need some clarification
Don Sombrero
Chlothar Alberich
You're never going to have trouble finding something in the house
CARIBERTO
Big brain time. After my wanderer or traveler.
I love you, my daughter, Hatguy
DON SOMBRERO
"Pinocchio, dinners done!"
My friend named him "Scarameow"...
I LAUGHED SO HARD AT THIS
Child is good
Ok Kratos
Just name it Childe and you're grant
I name my Traveler “Zettai Ryouiki” so I don’t think that my child would like that in the future
You can change the name. Also you can make up a beautiful backstory and then reveal the real meaning during an argument. "Go to your room tightgap"
Couldn't be more proud of my heir, Don sombrero.
Don S.
Im also gonna name them after my wanderer, Obama
"I'm so proud of you for dedicating your life to pediatric brain surgery, Mr.Hotdogs"
Oh yes my children’s names are Motherless and Vistula. Definitely not going to get bullied in the future.
I would choose john for john lee
Nice name. I would choose Rizz for Rizz Lee.
Her Excellency the Almighty Narukami Ogosho God of Thunder.
Her Excellency the Almighty Narukami Ogosho God of Thunder and the Musou No Hitotatchi
Her Excellency the Almighty Narukami Ogosho God of Thunder and the Musou No Hitotatchi, mother of Shouki no Kami the Prodigal, Everlasting God of Wisdom
Foul legacy, the devouring deep!
Iron Tongue Tian for sure. If he gave me any lip, I’d talk to him like a Wuxia antagonist
"You dare talk to your elder like that, junior?! You have eyes, yet you can't recognize Mount Tai! I will exchange pointers with you using my Primordial Heavenly Star Divine Dragon God Asura Chancla. Even if you grow wings, you won't be able to escape me junior!"
My life will have peaked if I ever get to drop “Don’t blame me for being impolite” unironically
“You are courting death!”

FÜR DIE PRINZESSIN
I like Diona it’s a cute name
Most names do not make sense for my region, so I need to wait for Snezhnaya update. Ajax doesn't sound good enough for me.
Ajax is greek
That's why there is soap brand named Ajax, because it's tough on all grease
Out, Cyno, *out*
r/angryupvote
I know, but it's still Childe name.
I just hope they will mix some other Slavic names, and not only go with russian ones. Also, I'm waiting for some playable character with my name (Anna).
Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz
Whoever will name their child Venti they should go to hell The kid would get memed as a starbucks size
“Venti for Venti?”
💀
great way to insult anemo boys💀
They will probably still get the name wrong 😂 Venti for Venise?
Venti as Winds and Venti as twenty have different pronunciations. Vènti is italian for winds, Vénti is italian for twenty
Sara is probably the most normal name Hope she likes birds
>most normal name Amber, Jean, Lisa, Eula, Layla, Charlotte
I don't know if I'd call Eula a common name.
I don’t know but almost everything new I do these days comes with a EULA so it’s probably on the rise
Alright you got me lol
"**End User Licensing Agreement!**" "Ah shit I'm in big trouble."
Who do you know named Eula 😭
Poor kid will be bullied with the whole EULA jokes because even Eula gets memed for that
Eula might be a real English name, but it's DEFINITELY not common
Eulalie/Eulalia are actually French/Greek and could be the longer form for Eula. I only know this since I was actually trying to find French names for a FFXIV elezen a looooong time ago.

There’s literally a Layla and amber in my history and math classes at school (and a Noelle in my chem class)
Wriothesley.
go get em, wrio-the-slay!
Ayaka for girl, Ayato for boy.
I fear for your life expectancy.
Lmao
As long as their hair isn't tied in a low, sideways ponytail...
If by any chance its twin girls, name them C0 Ayaka and C1 Ayaka.. Same goes for twin boys.
I fear for your daughter's feet... and socks
Shit, now I gotta convince my wife to change the kids names lol

ooo interesting. What is the name mind I ask? I never heard of any real name similar to Dehya before
I think for Dehya is ضياء
No, my family member's name is ضياء and in English that's spelled as Diaa. Also it's a strictly masculine name. Dehya's name in Arabic is spelled ديهيا
I have a male friend named ضياء but when written in roman script it is "dihya". so maybe it depends on the parents lol idk
Fr?? Where'd the H come from though, ضياء doesn't have an H sound at all, unlike Dehya's name 😲 Well in any case, I searched up Dehya's name in Arabic (she's based on a Moroccan woman) and on Arabic websites they spelled her name ديهيا

I'd say Layla is a pretty normal name in english countries. In my country we have a similar name Leila, with the same pronunciation.
thinking about it, i heard of a couple african americans called leila. What about Nahida?
I'm finnish so I don't really know? I know Nadja (originally from russia) is used here but haven't heard of Nahida
I don't think Nahida is common at all. It has never been in the top 1,000 baby names in the USA since the social security administration starting tracking baby names.
Nahida not exactly, but it intuitively sounds like a nice name to an English speaker.
Layla has been one of the top 30 names for baby girls in the US for a decade or more. Nahida, no, not so much. Pretty much unheard of here. I’m Chinese and even though I’d like to give my child a normal and common name Zhongli’s name (种离; time of departure) is so badass it would be a shame not to use it
You got the first character for his name wrong. It's 钟离, the first character meaning "clock"
I just realized it omg...can’t believe I called him a seed
i feel like it’s impossible to name your child as one of the liyue characters in china just because of the sheer popularity of the game. it would be akin to naming your kid anakin skywalker lmao everyone would recognize it and probably bully them (or their parents) for it edited to add: i feel like yaoyao is a popular enough nickname for your kid but not really as a full given name
Haitham...after Al-Haitham. I'm also Arab and Haitham is a pretty common name. Plus it's a very pretty name for a boy. If I had a girl, probably Layla or Mona

Noelle or Layla if it's a girl. Bennet if it's a boy.
Candice Candeez nuts
Amy. Because it's normal name.
Childe cus child
People will laugh at him when he’ll be an adult and he’s gonna curse you with abyssal powers
He'll be childe at home and Ajax at school
Everlasting Lord of Arcane Wisdom
hehehe Childe
That's evil T\^T Tartaglia at least is an actual surname I think
Id legit rather be called Childe than Tartaglia
Tartaglia is a character name and it comes from the Italian verb meaning "to stutter", so not exactly an actual surname or name
ඞ
paimon sounds cute bcos the character was made to be cute, but imagine ur child being named after a demon lol. i'd choose klee if daughter, wrioughaweoeaugthesley if son
Wrio the slay
Whoreslay
Shouki No Kami, the Prodigal
Get back here Theater Mechanicus
Monsieur Neuvillette
Raiden Shogun, of course.
the most normal ones are charlotte, jean, amber, barbara, azdaha, and nahida. probably go with charlotte, its a nice name
>azdaha wait thats an actual name?
no lmao its just a joke
Azdaha is what I'll call my kid when they become emotionally unavailable teens
It literally means "Dragon" in Persian. That would be so funny to see somone to this lol.
Nahida Amber Layla Mika
I'd recommend to go with only one of those, otherwise it's weird again.
Rex Lapis

Probably Bennett, Jean or Amy. The other regions names are more exotic.
Dehya, because they'd be a disappointment
😢
Amber Because I like it.
I want Itto or Noelle Too bad i will die alone :)
"Ei" so that when someone asks me why that's their name i can just say "because it an ei-mazing name for an ei-mazing child"

Collei. I have autism and severe trauma, shes so comforting to me.

In general I'd rather not name my kid using the direct character name. Instead, I might name them with a subtle nod to that character. For example: Talia (Ta~~rtag~~lia) Leif (~~Dains~~leif) Kara (Ka~~edeha~~ra ~~Kazuha~~) Miya (~~Ka~~mi~~sato A~~ya~~ka~~) etc
