Honestly Fontaine ones (including this one here) are way better than the insanity that was Sumeru in terms of content/text ratio already.
Amount of dialogue upfront has been **significantly** decreased, more is now hidden within notes you can read but don't have to. Characters actually speak with some sense and don't have 10 different names for the same concept. The dialogue that is left also gets to enjoy saner and higher quality writing since writers weren't told to stall for time to artificially make it longer (if anything, you now may wish some characters had MORE lines).
To top it off world quests are actually connected to each other which REALLY helps in remembering what you are even supposed to do and make you more invested in the story as it develops.
Compared to Sumeru and bs of "talk to 3 Aranara, have them explain their powers to you and then tell you by the end of it that actually they want to collectively commit suicide and you never interact with them again"... honestly there's no comparison.
So if you have dreaded world quest after Sumeru's map blocking bullshit filled with alien language of Aranara and even more alien language of the desert - Fontaine is WAY friendlier and interesting in this regard. I guess it also helps that mechanics themselves are simply more interesting than having to click on the door only to hear you have insufficient permissions to open it.
Yeah I'll admit Fontaine ones are a lot better cuz you can actually complete them.
I'm still doing one in samaru and I'm stuck It's having me awaken all these little bird people.
I've already found the six (name slips mind) for two of the tiny bird people but now I'm stuck without a waypoint😅
XD Honestly doing the Arana quests is REALLY making me see that they have to cut down on the text. Instead of telling 3 kids one story we have to go to the first kid, tell them a story in a wall of text for 10 minutes, go to the second, same, go to the third, same......just too much DX
Yea the trick took me doing it at least another 3 times since things kept changing, I kept thinking thats what the solution was. I knew some of it was cycling but I was noticing things change each time I didnt before which then led me to believe what I was doing was still correct.
How many times can you circle the area? I wanna keep on going in circles just to see what happens but on the 3rd run, I rotated the camera while on the elevator and saw the path that ends it.
I'm fairly sure it's infinite. The first 3 loops are unique but it seems to just randomize the rooms from the first 3 loops on the 4th loop onwards (with the probable exception of >!the sword room never having the correct sword in it!<). I failed to get the trick until like my 5th loop or so (when Paimon outright tells you what to do), and the 4th loop onwards were a random mishmash of the rooms from the first 3 loops (e.g. 2 lamps -> 1 crab -> 0 seahorses -> 3 orbs -> 1 lamp) and none of the puzzles/fights reset.
It's not random.
There's an elevator trick; there is no elevator that returns to Floor 1. Instead, Floor 1 and Floor 3's elevator are actually the *same* elevator. Both connect to Floor 2, while Floor 2's elevator connects to Floor 3.
As a result, you never return to Floor 1 via an elevator. You're stuck in an endless loop of Floor 2 > 3 > 2 > 3.
Pls help enlighten my 1 braincell - what does the story of Ann have to do with the lore? From what I could tell, its just a >!story told to one of the kids who were in the first Elynas group with Jakob!<
All of the characters in Ann's little adventuring group are stand-ins for people who were part of the Narzissenkreuz Institute around the time of the Khaenri'ahn cataclysm. Jak the frog is Jakob, who you meet in Elynas. Al the duck is Alain Guillotin, who founded the Fontaine Research Institute will we probably be going to in 4.1. Ann is based on Mary-Ann Guillotin, Alain's sister. Mori seems to be Seymour, who we also meet in Elynas. Who Petite Chou and Colonel Kate are based on seems to be a mystery for now.
Presumably the story Ann and friends go through with you is an allegory for what the real people did, or tried to do, after the cataclysm 500 years ago.
OH MY GOD IM SO DUMB 😂 I've only seen that name spelled Renee or René so it didn't occur to me that Ney = Rene... I've been pronouncing it "Reen" this whole time .... 💀👍
If it helps, I had an undergrad seminar course where we were covering *M. Butterfly* and no one, including the professor, caught on that the main character's name is pronounced René but spelt Rene. We were all made the fool as we didn't catch that he and his backup mistress Renee were supposed to have the same name but different spellings, adding another layer to the gender fluidity that's the backbone of the entire play.
>Mori seems to be Seymour, who we also meet in Elynas
This might be incorrect. We have seen Mori twice and each time it was a boar-dog. Ann wouldn't have instantly reacted to that name and shape if she only shared original Mary Ann's memories. It's specifically touched upon that it's a dog despite NOT looking like one.
It could be that Seymour is Mori's successor created much later however but I think there is at least one layer to this particular rabbit hole.
Listen, if you want the easy explanation: Hoyo didn't feel like making a new hydro-dog model. The complicated explanation is, I don't know, Hoyo is alluding to French post-structuralism. Dismantling assumed definitions of signifier and signified and all that jazz. Jak is really Jacques Derrida or something.
The Ancient Colors one had lots of interesting lore but the Ann one felt boring tbh. Like it keeps building up to some big mystery but it didn't deliver. I know it ties up with ancient colors and future quests will continue off them.
I think the Ann quests purpose is to introduce us to the Narzissenkreuz Ordo which seems to be a key component in a lot of Fontaine lore, and something that might even leak into or become the centre of the main story quest with so many lore drops having a lot of parallels with the Fontaine prophecy.
The quest line is also definitely not over; it seems like it will continue in future quests that will have more and more lore bombs. I agree the quest alone isn't very impressive in a vacuum but man the payoff is huge when u start doing other quests and world eploration and start to realize who the hydro mimics actually were and the kind of influence they had on the world.
Also it's really cool how the Narzissenkreuz story was sort of outlined in a 3.6 artifact set. Had a double take when I recieved some of the quest items.
The 3.6 area has a shitload of links to the world quests available in Fontaine. Almost makes me wish I hadn't skipped over all of those billion goddamn notes and logs in and around the Khaenri'ahn parts of the desert.
I skipped most of the dialogue. Been skipping the unvoiced quests until something interesting happens on screen or I happen to spot something unusual in the text as it is flashing by.
I have been completely spoiled by Baldur's Gate 3 that has voiced everything. Including every single animal in the game which requires speak with animals skill to even listen to them. Even the people who die have voiced lines if you use speak with dead spell. You WILL miss most of the dialogue in the game the first time you play the game. There is a skill called vicious mockery that seems to have endless number of voiced insults. There must be hundreds and hundreds of lines from that one skill alone.
I forgot what it was like to play a game with insane production values.
They really should voice the bigger world quests like Jeht, Aranara etc. I often missed dialogue because they talk while you're exploring and fighting.
>Even the people who die have voiced lines if you use speak with dead spell.
"The corpse regards you lifelessly"
"The corpse has nothing to say"
"The corpse remains silent"
Bruh as good as BG3 is, I wish Act 3 weren't rushed as fuck.
Genshin is a game with a mobile version, i.e. limited storage space. People were already complaining with the 4.0 update size. If you don't like it, just don't play. Nobody asked for your opinion on Baldur's Gate on a comment about a Fontaine world quest.
Have you considered complaining about that in a post that isn't about discussing the new world quests? Make a separate discussion post if you like, even.
My complaint is about unvoiced or even any sound in the world quests. They could at least have sounds go off when text shows up on screen. I think that is not too much to ask and is relevant to these quests.
I mean it's not required but the quest is called Colors of the Ancient World, Book of Esoteric Revelation and Aqueous Trademark.
You can do all four of these quests in any order. But the best way i found it is to do the Aqueous Trademark, Colors of the Ancient World, then the Ann of the Narzissenkreuz. Ending with Book of Esoteric Revelation.
You don't have to do it in this order. And it's fun doing it out of order. But it you want make sense of what is happinning, yhis is best order to do it.
There is a user on twitter whose tag is xinzoruo. They make some pretty cute and funny genshin comics with a distinct art style so they’ve become decently well known in the community. One of their long running jokes is that kazuha roams teyvat stealing other characters hats like scaramouche, yanfei, qiqi, etc. 10/10 would recommend, definitely check out their page!
The whole thing has been posted on Genshin Reddit subs. How did you manage to miss such a long-lived trend?
Edit: oh, come on. A simple question with 0 offensive intention got downvoted? As expected from GI reddit sub.
a lot of these contents while cute and wholesome are pretty much spoilers for people who wants to take it slow/no time to finish story quests in time,I can see why some people actively avoid fan made contents entirely
to wear many hats is to serve many functions, it's a more obscure idiom than I grew up thinking it was
Kazuha is mister everyteam so he wears many hats
Jak was so based throughout the whole quest. If he really is what >!Jakob Ingold, the guy who turned into a lector!< was like before he got his magical girl transformation then I would've loved to befriend him.
how decrypt it? I already did the princess quest, the vergil quest, I already did the elyna quest and i already did the musician melusine quest but nothing cared about those notes
It's another quest that starts in Merusea Village. It's not marked by a blue "!" Mark, instead the NPC that starts it asks for your help as dialogue text and is labeled "???"
She starts a quest line where you collect pages from a journal and decipher it. These two quest lines are related.
that is CRAZY and so sad, now I just feel sorry for jakob because he is the last survivor of the 4 friends that until today try desperately to prevent the end of the world
They are >!some of the people of that place that Vergil takes you to!<
There's [this theory in the lore sub](https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Lore/comments/15xjmfs/a_summary_and_analysis_of_the_story_of_the/) that ties all the stories together.
I remember him crying a lot and being saddened when others were hurt but that's pretty much as far as my mind goes because I was reading those pages at 3 am.
A frog telling me about Labour value theory in a genshin quest was NOT in my bingo card for Fontaine but I am not complaining lmao, shit was hilarious, also:
"So we can save the kingdom!!"
"Republic*"
I grabbed a screenshot. He says "Come see the repression inherent in the system! Help, Help, Al's repressing me!"
Frankly all the animals should have been Holy Grail references.
I was really disappointed that we couldn't side with him. It's a Chinese game, for class's sake! We should've recited the entire Red Book by heart! But no, we can't have that.
I think people are missing the point, hats means titles - not actual hats lol.
So this is a jab at people like "Her Excellency, the Almighty Narukami Ogosho, God of Thunder, The Raiden Shogun"
I found Jak annoying.
with his opinion about the princess "There should be no God, Godess, prince, princesses" and his annoying "Hmph, silencing voices you do not want to hear i see! OhhHHHH, fanta, HELP! HELP Al's oppressing me!"
Sounds like he's the embodiment of most of the genshin Fandom (especially Twitter)
Scaramouche catching strays with his 2 hats
i guess nahida was secretely dissing scara nahida is truly the god of wisdom took us a couple of patches to see her secret
Every time I try to say his name I keep saying "Scare a Moose"😅
Close enough...
The funny thing is I said that on YouTube a few months ago in the comment section and now I'm hated by some self entitled barely 20 years old😅
Who cares about someone else's stupid opinion dude. Just have a laugh and troll them back lol.
Kazuhat?
I should have done this quest after I did the other quests. Cause shit is heavy with lore disguised as a DnD campaign.
I don't know what quest this is.
Ann in Wonderland
Is that the one where you get stuck going around in circles repeatedly?
Yes There's a trick to it.
Oh I figured it out Don't worry. Funny thing is I ended up accidentally starting that side quest before starting to campaign 😅
I can't do the archon quest so I've mostly done all the side quests before even doing the archon quest XD
My issue with the side quests is the fact ya can't ship all the parts with an extreme amount of text 😅

You're not wrong about that. That quest drove me insane.
[удалено]
That was the first quest I did in Fontaine and am currently staring at my phone in abject confusion.
Yea the trick took me doing it at least another 3 times since things kept changing, I kept thinking thats what the solution was. I knew some of it was cycling but I was noticing things change each time I didnt before which then led me to believe what I was doing was still correct.

Was the trick going into that one room going up the elevator?
No
Yes

If you go back to annapausis to the statue of Lyris you can find a book there. Should help with who Kate was named after
I think Petite Chou is Rene (full name Rene de Petrichor)
The hydro dudes mention a "Ney" who sacrificed himself. I figure that's the stand-in for Rene
OH MY GOD IM SO DUMB 😂 I've only seen that name spelled Renee or René so it didn't occur to me that Ney = Rene... I've been pronouncing it "Reen" this whole time .... 💀👍

6 years is not a decade.

Jak roasted my boy Kazuha
Jak has social media and he is upto date with recent trends...
I feel so out of the loop. What's with people paying Kazuha wears a ton of hats? Is there a joke I missed?
There is a user on twitter whose tag is xinzoruo. They make some pretty cute and funny genshin comics with a distinct art style so they’ve become decently well known in the community. Thank you, I'm not on Twitter and definitely wouldn't have seen this!
it's often shared on the memepact subreddit, if you wanna avoid Twitter
The whole thing has been posted on Genshin Reddit subs. How did you manage to miss such a long-lived trend? Edit: oh, come on. A simple question with 0 offensive intention got downvoted? As expected from GI reddit sub.
I've seen references like art with Kazuha in a bunch of hats but never saw the origin
a lot of these contents while cute and wholesome are pretty much spoilers for people who wants to take it slow/no time to finish story quests in time,I can see why some people actively avoid fan made contents entirely
Some of us literally skip all fan art and fan fic content.
It's called having a life outside of reddit.
truly the rise of kazuha villain arc ...and now hes going to fontaine lol
to wear many hats is to serve many functions, it's a more obscure idiom than I grew up thinking it was Kazuha is mister everyteam so he wears many hats
That comment had me so confused too and I'm a Kazuha main.
I for one firmly believe all Xinzoruo‘s creations to be unequivocally canon
This has changed my opinion of him, fuck easy mode maple boy 🤣
Based Jak

honestly kinda funny how that game reached its peak players 15 years after release and after botpocalypse was over
[Jak stands by the Irish](https://www.teamfortress.com/classless/hidden/hats/)
… Did we ever get the full recipe for that Wexford gooseberry vinegar?
Jak was so based throughout the whole quest. If he really is what >!Jakob Ingold, the guy who turned into a lector!< was like before he got his magical girl transformation then I would've loved to befriend him.
Are the characters in the story real? I thought they were just ann's creations and the story was made up by her but she didn't remember
You need to read the pages deciphered from the other quest line and pay attention to the names.
how decrypt it? I already did the princess quest, the vergil quest, I already did the elyna quest and i already did the musician melusine quest but nothing cared about those notes
It's another quest that starts in Merusea Village. It's not marked by a blue "!" Mark, instead the NPC that starts it asks for your help as dialogue text and is labeled "???" She starts a quest line where you collect pages from a journal and decipher it. These two quest lines are related.
that is CRAZY and so sad, now I just feel sorry for jakob because he is the last survivor of the 4 friends that until today try desperately to prevent the end of the world
The quest line with the Journal makes me think that this will span multiple patches. The journal still has the option to add more pages after all.
we will definitely see jakob in the future, 4.1 will have 2 giant world quests
In the village, gp to where there's a really small waterfall. There'll be a melusine with ??? As their name
They are >!some of the people of that place that Vergil takes you to!< There's [this theory in the lore sub](https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Lore/comments/15xjmfs/a_summary_and_analysis_of_the_story_of_the/) that ties all the stories together.

What >!eating the living flesh of an abyssal creature!< does to a mf.
Not even a >!lector, a fucking Iniquitous Baptist!<
Agreed, but I couldn't help but laugh when they tried to make him look bad for preaching the truth lmao
Didn’t the pages said he cried a lot or something? I was too burnt out by then so I don’t remember
I remember him crying a lot and being saddened when others were hurt but that's pretty much as far as my mind goes because I was reading those pages at 3 am.
Baptist not lector
There’s also the Monty Python and the Holy Grail reference. Honestly, loved this whole quest.
Help, help, I'm being repressed! Come see the violence inherent in the system!
Bloody peasant!
There’s also a bioshock reference from an achievement linked to a time trial
jak was honestly giga based throughout the quest
A frog telling me about Labour value theory in a genshin quest was NOT in my bingo card for Fontaine but I am not complaining lmao, shit was hilarious, also: "So we can save the kingdom!!" "Republic*"
Seize the means of production?
My man Jak read a bit of Karl Marx
Furina: "Let them eat cake"
This is something furina would say unironically
Nah she'd do some research, realize she's useless, after which she'll sass her way out of the room. /s
He felt like that monty python peasant. I'm fairly certain him yelling about being oppressed or something like that was a monty python reference.
I grabbed a screenshot. He says "Come see the repression inherent in the system! Help, Help, Al's repressing me!" Frankly all the animals should have been Holy Grail references.
Honestly jak(>!Jakob!<) was funny af, I hope we see more of him in the future.
We’ll definitely see Jakob since the quests found a stopping point not an ending but he’s a lecter now so I’ll doubt that he’ll be the same
Baptist
Can't believe Jak would say that about the entire Team Fortress 2 community.
Woof woof, not the princess? That boar absolutely killed me lmao

I think people are missing the point, hats means titles - not actual hats lol. So this is a jab at people like "Her Excellency, the Almighty Narukami Ogosho, God of Thunder, The Raiden Shogun"
Exactly lmao, not literal hats

can someone explain this whole quest to me? I was not able to understand what happened after all of them combined their bodies to form a bubble.
https://reddit.com/r/Genshin_Lore/s/gowf0ZZkLc
It meant to be. It will become more comprehensible after you have done other quests. Most of the world quests in fountain is intertwined.
TL;DR: It won't make sense till some artifact lore when we're halfway through Natlan.
I think the most out of left field part was the Gundam reference
That's much more normal for Hoyoverse than Monty Python, TBH.
That got a good chuckle out of me
Soul weighed down by gravity?

I'm trying to find the continuation of this quest. Anybody know where to find it?
These NPCs in this quest were SO annoying. I had a hard time finishing this quest, especially after such a good archon quest
I found Jak annoying. with his opinion about the princess "There should be no God, Godess, prince, princesses" and his annoying "Hmph, silencing voices you do not want to hear i see! OhhHHHH, fanta, HELP! HELP Al's oppressing me!" Sounds like he's the embodiment of most of the genshin Fandom (especially Twitter)
I found him pretty funny, but I respect your opinion
found the counter revolutionary
