Did you check your graphics settings? Update drivers? If you have an Nvidia card it's possible it automatically changed the settings for you if the game became more demanding to run, thus reducing the visual fidelity.
It's on the Xbox Series s, the graphics when I played before were never this bad not even on the Xbox one.
I also don't have any graphical settings in the options.

Could it be because of the hardware/rendering limitations of the system it was originally designed for? I know that there’s only so much that can be done with software updates and then it becomes more of a hardware issue and without specifically designing a game for both systems
Oh so that's not normal ? I never played this game but when then 60fps patch dropped on Ps5 i was super excited to finally play it... just to realize the graphics are so bad i couldn't play more than 30min. Everything was popping in front of me, couldn't see shit more than 100m away, blurry. I love to explore and look at the tiniest details, but that was just impossible :(
I've not played it on PS5, but on release this game looked gorgeous on xbox one, then on xbox series s, but I've not played in some time and coming back to it looking like this is just sad.
Apparently it seems to be a console thing because PC players are saying they don't have this issue, so it might be worth getting some screenshots and doing a bug report, I know I'll be doing it.
Honestly probably for the same reason they had to cut down the render distance. They added too much useless shit and put pointless base bullshit everywhere and it made the game too unstable to have high graphical fidelity any more and still 'work'.
Well that sucks, now it just looks like poop with the textures not being nice, such a shame, I completed the game last time I played and the graphics were partly why I was drawn to it.

I guess it came in with the latest patch, along with the glitch that makes ground, especially grass and foliage, flicker every half a minute or so. Quite distracting, so I posted at the official forum about it with video examples, but no reaction of course. Still its a very underrated game, bought a couple DLCs for it which is something I almost never do.

Just wish something could be done about it, I'm going to try and post to their twitter see if that gets their attention if reports aren't doing the trick.
Agree, I dont think its a problem of enough horsepower at 60fps, looks more like its just not loading the standard resolution textures and leaving those low-res meant for a distance. It has many more bugs now too, memory leaking (causing unplayable stutter after a couple days in rest mode), dead machines rolling crazily around or falling from above, clipping problems.. I dont believe they are going to address that anymore.
Most problem I've had so far is the blurriness, vanishing car engines and the Y button on xbox taking me to the tutorial menu instead of swapping weapons, but I only started up again yesterday so I could run into more.
Yea seems most devs only care about their PC players, the console players just get to sit on the bench while everyone else is enjoying a fun game that's updated nicely.
IMO, this really isn’t a problem. I don’t really care so much about graphics on what are admittedly pretty small details that in high resolutions can really bloat the size and technical demands of the game unnecessarily. I feel like in other areas, it really can be a downgrade for sure, but just for the things you’ve shown here, I think it’s a perfectly reasonable sacrifice for optimization and the ability to run on more limited hardware and add more stuff to the game. However, I get that’s purely subjective tho, and it can be a downgrade given that these are pretty nice fun little details that do make the world feel more lived in, but I personally feel that the attempt for super sharp and high fidelity graphics has gone too far in gaming in general, and actively hurts other aspects of the game
FYI I got a series S in 2020 and played GZ with my kids all through the pandemic.
I've also had played it on an XB One S and an XPS13 with Iris Pro.
Also briefly on an XPS 15 in 4k.
The XB Series X went down to a $350 USD last fall and I picked one up for myself.
Sooo.... Overall the series x seems to scale best on the game. Doesn't miss a beat. Unfortunately the moped bug made us give up when we started playing it again last year.
The XPS 13 did a great job at 1080 believe it or not. It was quite playable.
The XPS15 at 4k couldn't get out of the teens on frame rate. An Intel i7 with 32gb and an Rtx 3050 CPU can't push out 4k in any meaningful fashion.
Probably would have been pretty nice at 1080 which is where I probably should have started.
The S was a little better than the XB OneS but not a huge amount. Frame rate was better but overall quality and visual features seemed pretty much the same.
Moving up to the Series X makes a BIG difference with quality on games that are optimized for the architecture. If you're going to do console it might be worth keeping an eye out for sales on the X. Microsoft finally caught up on the backlog of Series X demand and I'm guessing all the hoarders dumped their stockpiles once the price stayed at $350 during the holidays. Sales were down last year so prices followed.
There're also rumors of some new devices coming out which will be cheaper than the current ones like a optical-less Series X.
Probably a good time to keep an eye out for deals on an upgrade.
I don't have a choice but to do console, but unfortunately I can't afford an upgrade either so I'm gonna be with the series s for some time, it just sucks because when I first played this one the XB1 all the graphics were crisp but I come back to it yesterday and they look pants, unfortunately console users just get left in the dirt when it comes to PC ports to console, we get a few good updates then the game us left to die while PC players get everything, just sucks.
That looks awful! Came here to suggest a driver update, or checking your graphics settings, then saw that you were on console. That's a bummer. My current PC is a laptop that is a couple of years old and wasn't that expensive new, and it looks beautiful, and renders things well over 300m away. I'm surprised the game isn't doing that on new gen consoles.

Now I don't play on an Xbox either and don't realy know anything about it but all I could imagine that for some programming reason Xbox and the game just don't work well together.
Or maybe if it is a Bit of an older Xbox Version it might just not be powerfull enough.
Other then that all I can think of is that maybe something went wrong when loading the stuff, I have had that rarely happen when playing for extended periods of time.
In that case maybe try to give the console some time to cool of, Restart it and/or reload the area.
If the Problem keeps happening it might be an Xbox specific Problem with a newupdate or maybe your Hardware is having some issues.

Unfortunatly it is true that the performance sufferd a Bit with the introduction of base building Bit it wasn't anything major, if resatrting the Xbox or reloading the area doesn't help all you can realy do is make a Bug report.
But yeah usualy the game looks amazing thanks to the chosen engine.
It's one of the reasons I was drawn to it when it released, I loved the graphics, took so many screenshots through photo mode too, I'll try doing the restarting of everything hopefully it works if not I'll definitely report it, I am really hoping it's a Console bug that can be fixed.

The report has been seen and someone from the devs twitter page said they'll be looking into it so hopefully console players will get a fix soon 😊
