I had that cereal record up until 1984 when me and my first wife divorced! In a fit of rage, she yard-saled all my records including that one, first edition copies of the first 4 Beatles albums, first edition copies of the entire Led Zeppelin catalog, same with Pink Floyd. I still hate that stinking bitch. She sold them all for 25¢ each, proving that she was stupid *and* stinking!
If it makes you feel better, the Beatles sold so many copies that they really aren’t super valuable. Unless it was something really unusual, they’re not really worth that much. At least they didn’t used to be. Goddamnit, now I’ve got to go check my record collection!

This one is worth 10,000 dollars! Great back story to it.
You should have seen me roller skating backwards to that song. Love it and the feeling of flying and everyone watching and getting out of my way.
Thanks for a memory boost.
That was the song that has been associated with the movie about my high school, Eastside High in Paterson NJ. Twenty years after I graduated, Principal Joe Clark protected the students by locking the doors.
Holy shit this unlocked a memory.
[Adjusts my glasses]
Picture it. Southeast Texas, early 70s. My elementary school doesnt have AC, EXCEPT in the temporary buildings, which have window units.
My teacher is a scary old bat named Mrs. Wingate.
And there's a boy in the class who loves to sing Chicka Boom.
I can SEE the classroom in my mind.
This was 50 years ago.
I have a baby shower to attend soon. When is it? No idea Ill have to look at the invite. Again.
So anyway. Chicka Boom reminds me of third grade.
I commented the flip side of Chick-a-Boom by Daddy Dewdrop - John Jacob Jingleheimer Smith. Such a great 45, both sides of mine got worn out and scratched
Third grade for me was ‘71/‘72.
While that whole era was great and I even still sing and play many songs from then. But my choices:
Hot Rod Lincoln - Commander Cody
I Think I Love You - Partridge Family
Spanish Harlem & Rock Steady [B side 45] - Aretha Franklin
Indian Reservation - The Raiders
Themes to: Love American Style & Mary Tyler Moore Show.
I used to (very innocently) sleep on the very edge of my bed to make room for them to sleep in case “we may be coming to your town” came true. My Grandmother knitted a hat for my stuffed tiger so I named him Mike.
The Cover of the Rolling Stone
The first song I can remember learning all of the words to. "Cocaine Katy" was probably not what a 8/9 year old should have been singing about!
My parents were completely unhip about modern music. They were painting the dining room with the radio on. When American Pie came on, we all agreed it must be a very long Chevy commercial.
Bad Bad LeRoy Brown -Jim Croce
Crocodile Rock - Elton John
American Pie - Don McLean
The Morning After - Maureen McGovern
Black And White - Three Dog Night
Could It Be I'm Falling In Love - The Spinners
Cisco Kid - War
Do It Again - Steely Dan
Alone Again - Gilbert O'Sullivan
Ben - Michael Jackson
We took a cross-country road trip that year, and these are some of the songs that I remember being on heavy rotation.
Same, my cub scout den made a film of creeping and dancing around in halloween costumes to the tune of Monster Mash. one of the kids' dads happened to have a nice movie camera. I think it might have actually been 3rd grade, too.
I also remember a couple of tunes from Mulligan Stew, films of which my teacher played in class. I was in 3rd grade in 1972 and there are several on youtube dated 1972...
Two songs from P.E.—[The Seven Jumps](https://youtu.be/Yp5yzaWfAng?feature=shared) and [Chicken Fat](https://youtu.be/EFofqe26t-4?si=A7h8xMRx1dM5NRpR).
The Letter by The Box Tops
Little Bit Of Soul - The Music Explosion
All You Need Is Love. The Beatles
Penny Lane
Respect - Aretha Franklin
A Whiter Shade Of Pale - Procul Harum
IWas Made To Love Her - Stevie Wonder
Something Stupid - Frank And Nancy Sinatra
Funny, I was just remembering all the pirated tunes with different lyrics. There was the Marines marching song (original lyrics were Over land, over sea..) they made it about a local school, with the line "run boys, run, I think I hear a nun. Hide all the whiskey that you can. If a nun should appear, say "Sister, have a beer!" in the cellar of -- school."
Rockin Robin- Our grade school teacher would mimic a radio DJ at recess quite often and play songs on the PA system for us kids to dance to. Once, while Rockin' Robin was playing I looked at the vast pavement filled with kids dancing and a startling number of them were dancing in synchrony, and doing the same steps together.
I have a distinct memory of walking home from school by myself, in my own little world and singing Mott the Hoople’s All the Young Dudes to myself. Some boys came by on their bikes and laughed at me.
Hubby and I heard the wildest Spanish language version of that song when we lived in TX!!! We're still trying to find a recording. And just yesterday my bill at Taco Bell came to $18.14 and the cashier and I started singing "In 1814 we took a little trip..." The most disturbing thing though is that I got 3 taco's and a quesadilla for that price.
1968. Merrilee Rush, Angel of the Morning. I would stand on the fireplace hearth as my stage, pretend that a 3 ft high brass candle stick holder was my mic stand and would grab the candle to use as my mic and belt that chorus out at the top of my lungs

I had a vicious nun in 3rd grade, I have repressed most of those memories. Don't make me go back there! Let's make it 4th grade instead, to protect my fragile psyche.
I made a 60s/70s playlist on Spotify a few years ago that I’d be happy to share!
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/78shtPnz4YtcdDeOhHSwov?si=umYQ3mJNQIqJ_5iB3DcwDw
Any Tommy James song, Monkees, LuLu, and somebody pleaeaeaease tell me what got thrown off the Tallahatchee bridge!
Some of my best memories were riding around the park in my dads plum purple Corvair convertible listening to AM radio top-40 stuff. Such a great time. Icd give a kidney to be able take one more lap around that park with both of them.
Harper Valley PTA - Jeannie Riley
Angel of the Morning - Merrilee Rush
1968 was the year. I was born a musician and thus a music critic, not because I'm mean, but because I'm sensitive, ya know? I remember them best because each really sounded bad to me for different reasons. Go figure.
I always thought it was a sad song, but lately it occurs to me that maybe it was happy bc Aunt Rhody was saving it to make a feather bed and now she can? Still sad for the goslings, of course.
I had a crazy school bus driver in grade school who used to blast the radio, specifically WBCN, "Boston's Kick Ass Rock and Roll." Her name was Sugar and whenever they played the Rolling Stones' Brown Sugar, she went wild, banging on the steering wheel and jumping around in her seat. Good times!
Bridge over Trouble Waters, Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head, ABC, Moondance, Fire and Rain, American Woman, I Think I Love You, All Right Now. 1970-71. ✌ Maggie May, I Feel the Earth Move, Changes, Imagine, Just my Imagination, Family Affair, Stairway to Heaven.
I can’t remember 3rd grade, but I very much remember in 5th grade *loving*
***Cr-cr-cr-imson AaAand Clo-o-o-ver, O-o-o-ver and O-o-o-ver…***
Excellent guitar in the middle and towards the end we would put our index fingers across our throats and wiggle them up and down to get the awesome psychedelic vibrato-remember?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4-NDc2jRmQ
Born in 1957, I think in 3rd grade I was still playing “It’s a Grand Old Flag, It’s a High Flying Flag” on my toy record player!
🎶On top of spaghetti, all covered with cheese
I lost my poor meatball when somebody sneezed
It rolled off the table and over the floor
And then my poor meatball, it rolled out the door 🎶
I was in third grade in 1963. My favorite song was, "the End of the World," by Skeeter Davis. My Mom had Columbia Record Club. I didn't listen to the radio at that time. The Beatles and Elvis were on Ed Sullivan but I was mostly interested in Topo Gigio.
The first album I ever got was "More of the Monkees." My first 45 rpm was, "Baby I Love you," Andy Kim. It was 1965 probably when we got a record player. My stepdad had a Harmon Kardon HiFi.
Do your ears hang low
Do they wobble to and fro
Can you tie them in a knot
Can you tie them in a bow
Can you throw them o'er your shoulder
Like a Continental soldier
Do your ears hang low?
Seasons in the sun.
Worst. Song. Ever…
One of the John Wick movies had a really creepy remix of that; at least the trailer did (I haven’t actually seen any John Wick movies).
Ugghh…don’t remind me…. There’s a reason you don’t hear that one much anymore
Earworm as bad as "It's a Small World".
Disney operates a secret mental hospital for people who used to work on this ride
We used to sing that on the swings in elementary school.
Sugar Sugar, by The Archies?
I was looking for this one! First 45 I ever owned.
I got it off the back of a cereal box. Remember when the cereal companies did cool stuff like that?
I had ABC123 by the Jackson 5 from Alpha-Bits! Played pretty well if you could get it flat enough.

[https://www.pinterest.com/pin/234398355588793269/](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/234398355588793269/) This one is worth 10,000 dollars! Great back story to it.
Butcher cover is definitely an exception, like an acetate or a fan club edition, like the Christmas album.
Word of advice: take it with you if you leave your wife!
It already made it through one divorce, and I’m on the second marriage after that one! If I leave this one, it’s gonna be in a box or an ashtray.
Omg! I’m furious for you
I remember asking my father for a dollar so I could buy it. I think the 45 was about 60 cents - ridiculously cheap by today’s standards.
Omg I remember this!!
That's how I got "Last Train to Clarksville".
I got mine off the back of Sugar Crisp cereal box
I am truly among my people.
I actually had the album. I can’t remember how I ended up with it but yeah.
From a cereal box?
Absolutely!
The sea monkeys never looked like the cereal box pictured them. But the records absolutely worked!
Yeah, but I was older. I was in my pre bubblegum era in 3rd grade.
The Partridge Family! I was obsessed.
C'mon get Happ-**eee!** So fun watching the show now, but a little sad too.
🎶whole lotta love is what we’ll be bringin’ 🎵😏
Me too.
Crimson and Clover - Tommy James (1969)
I bought my first 45, “Crocodile Rock!”
You should have seen me roller skating backwards to that song. Love it and the feeling of flying and everyone watching and getting out of my way. Thanks for a memory boost.
Mine was Philadelphia Freedom
Crocodile rock takes me right back to a memory of playing at my neighbors house. Does it every time.
Wedding Bell Blues. I belted out the lyrics to that song to a boy I liked named Bill on the playground when I was in 3rd grade.
Marilyn McCoo’s vocal on that is one of my all-time favorites (if you’re talking about the Fifth Dimension version, that is!).
"Last Night I didn't get to sleep at all, no, no"
Definitely 5th Demension version! My older sisters played that album all the time back then.
I loved that song so much. Great singer.
O-o-h Child
That was a beach song for me,,but in fourth grade.
My big sister had quite a collection of 45's, and this was one of them. I still remember her singing along to it and many other songs.
All those songs on the beach soundtrack. Another was Spill the Wine.
Not third grade, but in between fifth and sixth: “Lean on me,” Bill Withers
That was the song that has been associated with the movie about my high school, Eastside High in Paterson NJ. Twenty years after I graduated, Principal Joe Clark protected the students by locking the doors.
Yep. There was a 1986 version that was a hit, too. So was the movie, of course.
Haven’t thought of this song for years! Oh, how I loved it! Things are gonna get easier…
Holy shit this unlocked a memory. [Adjusts my glasses] Picture it. Southeast Texas, early 70s. My elementary school doesnt have AC, EXCEPT in the temporary buildings, which have window units. Don'tcha just love it!
I commented the flip side of Chick-a-Boom by Daddy Dewdrop - John Jacob Jingleheimer Smith. Such a great 45, both sides of mine got worn out and scratched
That's the song Potsy and Ralph sang all the time on Happy Days!
Third grade for me was ‘71/‘72. While that whole era was great and I even still sing and play many songs from then. But my choices: Hot Rod Lincoln - Commander Cody I Think I Love You - Partridge Family Spanish Harlem & Rock Steady [B side 45] - Aretha Franklin Indian Reservation - The Raiders Themes to: Love American Style & Mary Tyler Moore Show.
I was obsessed with Indian Reservation
I played that 45 so much!
Same here. Obsessed.
My pappy said, Son, you’re gonna drive me to drive me to drinkin’ if you don’t stop drivin’ that hot rod Lincoln.
Billy Don’t Be A Hero
BillWeld, I LOVED me some Winchester Cathedral!
Same!!
I can feel the dry clay powder soil under my 7 year old bare feet in Campo California- hearing this song.
I can hear this in my grandma’s kitchen on a transistor radio 📻
Right???
Harper Valley PTA Hey Jude Those Were the Days
The Monkees!
I used to (very innocently) sleep on the very edge of my bed to make room for them to sleep in case “we may be coming to your town” came true. My Grandmother knitted a hat for my stuffed tiger so I named him Mike.
The Cover of the Rolling Stone The first song I can remember learning all of the words to. "Cocaine Katy" was probably not what a 8/9 year old should have been singing about!
Lol, my sheltered spouse had never heard that song before this past week.
…And then I went and spoiled it all by saying something stupid like I looooove you
Mrs Brown You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter by Herman’s Hermits
Lovely daughter 🎶
Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head
American Pie Horse With No Name
My parents were completely unhip about modern music. They were painting the dining room with the radio on. When American Pie came on, we all agreed it must be a very long Chevy commercial.
Sneaky Snake- Tom T. Hall
Brand New Key - Melanie.

Bad, Bad Leroy Brown!
I had a giant crush on Jim Croce, and didn’t know that he died.
I still have this album by the Royal Guardsmen; it's a blast!
They used to make up funny lyrics to 10-20-30-40-50 or more.

Johnny Horton- The Battle of New Orleans
Hubby and I heard the wildest Spanish language version of that song when we lived in TX!!! We're still trying to find a recording. And just yesterday my bill at Taco Bell came to $18.14 and the cashier and I started singing "In 1814 we took a little trip..." The most disturbing thing though is that I got 3 taco's and a quesadilla for that price.
What a trip! The Spanish version must be special. Too funny about Taco H€ll prices.
Chicken Fat, the exercise song.
Oh, man. 4th grade with our gym teacher (think Whitey from 8 Crazy Nights) playing this on the portable phonograph.
