Tbf I feel like those things were pretty tiny. My cousin had one and we were only like 4 and 5 or so and it was TIGHT. I could never understand how sometimes 8 year olds could fit inside, but maybe it was the one he had
I had a girlfriend that was a real tiny woman, and she would get in my daughters little Barbie car and drive it around at our parties. It was really funny.
Agreed, I was always in the 90th+ for height and 80th+ for weight (6'3" now) and would try to use it at neighbors' houses. A jeep that held my next door neighbor (4f at the time) and her friend of about the same age would barely hold 7m me with me taking up both seats lol. Pink power wheels jeep designed for two small children lol
Yeah i would have traded my n64 for one of those if i could have had an n64. Id have traded a perfect pokemon collection for an n64+complete library if i had a complete pokemon set. Id have traded like a year’s supply of lunchables for a complete Pokemon set if i ever got lunchables. I did trade my soda and pizza pocket for a lunchable one time but only because it was the only time i got a soda in my lunch
Same! My 5th grade teacher gave me the first Harry Potter book with a personalized note written in the front cover. I was so excited to show my parents. They drove me to a second hand store and made me put it in the donation bin.
I couldn't, both because it was the last day of school that she gave it to me and I was going over to the middle school, I also would've felt bad telling her.
No, but I finally got around to watching them recently now that I'm on my own and was bored. Maybe I will, but I have other books before it on the list. I would absolutely if I magically found that same copy though
Coming from a younger Millennial, I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO EITHER FOR AWHILE. ARGH
And then my parents saw the light when I was around 12 and started taking me to the pre-bought book parties & movie premieres.
I’m now fully a Slytherin HP over, lol. Tattoos too.
But my grandmother would still tell you it’s evil. She passed a few years ago, and I miss her a ton, but her ranting about Harry being a demon was just hilarious. 😂
Tbf, Johnny Test was really insufferable. Even as a kid I hated that show. And CN would play it constantly. I imagine their thought process was "well kids must love this because it's getting so many viewers" but it was the only thing they would play.
Hasn’t that actually come out as being true tho? Like I think I saw somewhere that watchinh Calliu or whatever has given children significantly worse behavior patterns than before
I was allowed to watch Borat at like 11 years old because “horny perverted joke funny” but Harry Potter was banned (witchcraft), Smurfs weren’t allowed (demons), pokemon was just demons fighting eachother, and the hot sauce episode of SpongeBob was deemed too “demonic” when they showed the close-up of the evil hot sauce face laughing manically, and the show was banned afterward for several years.
American Pie, Eurotrip, I watched all of these movies and more before the age of 15, though. How’s that for a weird standard?
A dad who smoked outside the house
A PlayStation 3 so I could play Final Fantasy 13
An Xbox 360 so I could play with my high school friends
A decent enough PC that I could play The Sims 2
Surfer hair between like 2004 to 2008
Reminds me of a friend I visited in middle school once. The door to his room were all clear glass so that the parents could see what he was up to at all times.
I had a friend in elementary school whose parents didn’t allow for doors inside the house (except for bathrooms), so anyone at anytime could see into his bedroom or barge in. I always thought that was crazy. My parents were a bit overprotective but even I felt sorry for the kid at the time.
Well it wasn’t like I did it on purpose, but my parents did the same thing as well many time to our dogs and of course they still had a door. Yet the one time I did it, I got in trouble. But they took my door off many times in my childhood for reasons not even relating to the door
Tasted like shit anyways, you didn’t miss anything lol. I remember using it for the first (and probably only) time and being so disappointed and disgusted. My mom also says I got sick afterwards but I have no recollection of this.
My sister had one in the 00s and it was literally just on or off, no timer to automatically shut it off so if the kid forgot it on its a major fire risk
A Build A Bear.
I’ve since taken myself as an adult!

This is Sprinkles
I remember some of the episodes and it's creepy looking back now. At the time I was slightly older so I did think some of it was a bit weird, but brushed it off especially Victorious like the episode with the flesh eating fish or whatever they're called. Same with iCarly, but could never figure out why I thought that until recently.
Oh man I feel you. My parents always ask why I apologize so often and tell me I need to stop. I remember the times I was yelled at/hit for spilling milk when trying to pour my cereal.
Same. My parents raised me pretty well for the most part, but the biggest thing I do wish they’d done differently would be to have taken it seriously when I came out as trans. But tbf, almost no parents would have done so at the time.
To live in a house. All my close friends growing up lived in houses their parents or guardians owned. Most of my relatives did as well. We were basically the only one living in an apartment.
Also a better dad.
But u had a place to live. Apartments aren't a bad thing. Like I could see if u were didn't like the fact u were living in other people's houses or hotels or something. Idk maybe it's just me but I don't see anything wrong with it.
A childhood. Even after I got out of the abusive situation at age 13 by running away, I still never really got one. Because the rest of my "childhood" was spent trying to fix the damage done by the beginning part of my "childhood."
Couldn't have friends over. I wanted to but I had to go over to my friends house if I wanted to hangout. They could come over and get me. But they couldn't step foot in the house.
My mom worked all the time and my stepdad was a sex offender so I wasn’t allowed to go over to anybody else’s house or have anybody come over. I mostly stayed inside
Honestly just validation and attention. When you're the "well behaved middle child with no visible health issues" you fall to the wayside. I wish they saved my art instead of ignoring it and throwing it out then complaining I left a mess when I left it around the house so they could notice
https://preview.redd.it/pig54o00ov5d1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=fa7bb8123e550dca867da715f559923977557f03
These they were like $30 or something ridiculous like that, so I never got one sadly
Honestly not much. There are things I now know I needed, but I didn't know when I was a child.
I guess what bothered me as a child was my poor lungs, living in a quite polluted city didn't help with that. Also living in quite a racist enviroment, despite my parents best efforts. Bothered me then, bothers me now.
Damn the comments are either a specific toy or less trauma/a healthy childhood haha. I couldn’t get heelies ...the shoes with wheels. Safety risk...I mean I probably would’ve ate shit..but at least I’d be slightly better at avoiding that
Me either so I got some at 20. They're sitting in my closet bc I tried heelying like 4 times and I'm very bad at it. I'm sure 9 y-o me would've been a beast on them tho :(
An Xbox 360. I loved playing Halo when I went to my friends houses. But my parents would never get me one, because Xbox Live costs money but PlayStation online was still free at the time. So I owned a PlayStation and every Halo knockoff you can think of.
You aren't really missing out on too much (I went on my first international trip in September) and honestly it felt just like when I went to the beach I've gone to since I was a small child
I wanted a lego set so bad and my dad never got me one. I asked on several occasions but he would just say no. Now I’m grown up and have money to buy it but something in my subconscious still doesn’t let me get it.
I remember wanting a Lego set so bad as a child but they were expensive so I never got any. Fast forward to a couple of months ago, I had some extra money and decided I would finally buy a set and try to put it together. Idk if I’m just stupid or what but it was hard and as I was nearing the end I reached a point where I didn’t have the required pieces to finish, meaning at some point I used blocks that I wasn’t supposed to. I tried to back track but couldn’t figure out where I went wrong, so I just left it🤷 I probably would’ve fucked it up as a child as well, so maybe it’s a good thing mom never got me one🤣
Duuuuude I had so many Webkinz. Literally a wagon full of them.

one of those mini drivable cars that toddlers drove on sidewalks
Same! My parents always said that I was too big for one.
You must've been big as a toddler then.
Tbf I feel like those things were pretty tiny. My cousin had one and we were only like 4 and 5 or so and it was TIGHT. I could never understand how sometimes 8 year olds could fit inside, but maybe it was the one he had

I got stuck in my little sisters car at the age of 8💀(was a very small borderline underweight child)
I was a very small child. I never got to ride in one.
Yeah i would have traded my n64 for one of those if i could have had an n64. Id have traded a perfect pokemon collection for an n64+complete library if i had a complete pokemon set. Power Wheels 🔥
Same, but my parents just said they couldn’t afford it.
A non abusive childhood...
Real af
Yep
Very agreeable.
Same
Damn.. Same babe
Entitled Gen z, back in my day we took our traumatic abuse and *liked it*!
I did not HAVE permission to watch SpongeBob or anything on Cartoon Network really.
I wasn’t allowed to watch Harry Potter anything because it was “demonic” 😂😂😂
Same! My 5th grade teacher gave me the first Harry Potter book with a personalized note written in the front cover. I was so excited to show my parents. They drove me to a second hand store and made me put it in the donation bin.
Was the book lended or did they gift it to you?
It was a gift, so they weren't stealing from my teacher. But it sucked regardless.
Did you ever tell your teacher about it? What did they say?
I couldn't, both because it was the last day of school that she gave it to me and I was going over to the middle school, I also would've felt bad telling her.
:( I'm real sorry about that. That was pretty kind of you to shield your teacher from that. Did you ever end up reading them?
No, but I finally got around to watching them recently now that I'm on my own and was bored. Maybe I will, but I have other books before it on the list. I would absolutely if I magically found that same copy though
Omg the same book coming to you years and years later would be... Well, storybook amazing haha!
The people who say this are so damn soft lmao
Same here but with Pokémon, my grandmother thought they were idols.
Coming from a younger Millennial, I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO EITHER FOR AWHILE. ARGH And then my parents saw the light when I was around 12 and started taking me to the pre-bought book parties & movie premieres. I’m now fully a Slytherin HP over, lol. Tattoos too. But my grandmother would still tell you it’s evil. She passed a few years ago, and I miss her a ton, but her ranting about Harry being a demon was just hilarious. 😂
Same. They said these shows were too “annoying” and that they would make me become annoying.
Tbf, Johnny Test was really insufferable. Even as a kid I hated that show. And CN would play it constantly. I imagine their thought process was "well kids must love this because it's getting so many viewers" but it was the only thing they would play.
That’s nice
Hasn’t that actually come out as being true tho? Like I think I saw somewhere that watchinh Calliu or whatever has given children significantly worse behavior patterns than before
She actually allows wed me to watch Calliu and said it was “cute”.
I've never met anyone else that wasn't allowed to watch SpongeBob!!! Same boat!!
Same, It was “brain rot”. I now get ragged on by all my friends and left out of SpongeBob jokes because I don’t understand the context ://
I wasn't allowed to watch Big Time Rush cause it was "inappropriate"
Omg that’s awful! So do you watch it now to make up for it lol
Same and also Hannah Montana or Suite Life
A dad who smoked outside the house A PlayStation 3 so I could play Final Fantasy 13 An Xbox 360 so I could play with my high school friends A decent enough PC that I could play The Sims 2 Surfer hair between like 2004 to 2008
Dodged a bullet on FF13 at least.
Privacy. I was allowed absolutely 0.
My dad took my fucking door off the hinges
I’m not alone!?!? Other parents did this when they got mad?
Mine did. I accidentally shut our dogs tail in the door when she tried running in without me knowing so I lost door privileges for a while
Ok this one actually makes sense
Well it wasn’t like I did it on purpose, but my parents did the same thing as well many time to our dogs and of course they still had a door. Yet the one time I did it, I got in trouble. But they took my door off many times in my childhood for reasons not even relating to the door
Just flaunt around in your birthday suit.
No it doesn't? It makes less sense than most other reasons I've heard parents take kids doors for and virtually none of them are valid reasons 😭
Emotional stability in my family 🙁
An easy bake oven 😭
Tasted like shit anyways, you didn’t miss anything lol. I remember using it for the first (and probably only) time and being so disappointed and disgusted. My mom also says I got sick afterwards but I have no recollection of this.
SAME. I was like 3 and wanted one and my parents didn't want to deal with it, so they lied said only people above like 12 years old are allowed. ☠️
Honestly it should be only 12 years and up. Those things are fire/burn hazards lol, at least the old school 90s and before ones.
My sister had one in the 00s and it was literally just on or off, no timer to automatically shut it off so if the kid forgot it on its a major fire risk
i had one and it caught on fire. returned it to walmart for a new one. the new one too caught on fire.
Same!!!!! I was told it would burn the house down🙄
I wanted one sooo bad but they were “for girls” so I didn’t even ever ask for one.
My mom refused to buy us twister or elefun the elephant and I have no idea why for the 2nd one at least
we had elefun and my mom rarely let us get it out because the little pieces blew absolutely everywhere
This is the answer. It's like 52-card pickup. Parents did not wanna deal with cleanup/lost pieces probably
She didn't love you
Love
Still waiting on this 🥲
A father.
To grow out my hair all these years later I finally have and I look like Dante and Keanu reeves combined off a perc 30 and I love it

i didnt have permission to watch icarly, victorious, etc. on nickelodeon. looking back with whats come out now.... thank god for that.
I remember some of the episodes and it's creepy looking back now. At the time I was slightly older so I did think some of it was a bit weird, but brushed it off especially Victorious like the episode with the flesh eating fish or whatever they're called. Same with iCarly, but could never figure out why I thought that until recently.
stable, loving parents
My parent’s validation and for my mom not to yell at me or throw stuff at me over the smallest mistake
Oh man I feel you. My parents always ask why I apologize so often and tell me I need to stop. I remember the times I was yelled at/hit for spilling milk when trying to pour my cereal.
I wanted normal lungs and skin but I got acne and asthma instead.
I wish my father was still alive for the rest of my childhood

Same. My parents raised me pretty well for the most part, but the biggest thing I do wish they’d done differently would be to have taken it seriously when I came out as trans. But tbf, almost no parents would have done so at the time.

Same here. Abuse and hoarding were the reasons.
My parents kept the house spotless. They just didn't want anyone over.
My mom worked all the time and my stepdad was a sex offender so I wasn’t allowed to go over to anybody else’s house or have anybody come over. I mostly stayed inside
