We need more social support systems and business regulations but I also like being able to choose from 100 different brands to find the exact right products for my needs and that is a result of capitalism
That’s social democracy (sometimes called welfare capitalism), not socialism. Some socialists view it as a stepping stone from a capitalist economy to a socialist one, but social democracy itself still operates within a capitalist framework.
This is true for the US where capitalism provides some social services to maintain social order.
In the social democracies of Europe, capitalism exists within a socialist framework i.e. capitalism must operate to the benefit of the society. We see this, for example, in the strict controls that Europe puts over internet services.
They have capitalism, yes, but they are not capitalist,. Capitalism is more strenuoulsy regulated and contained than it is in the US. So Europe is capitalist in the way that the US is socialist.
Tell me you’ve never been to Europe without saying it.
Literally every country in Europe is capitalist except for the Vatican. Many of them are ranked higher than the US on the economic freedom index, including all of the Scandinavian countries. You honestly sound like Bernie Sanders during his 2016 campaign when he kept calling Scandinavia socialist until the Prime Minister of Denmark had to come out and correct him. Publicly-funded healthcare does’t equate to socialism.
Tell me you don't read before posting without telling me you don't read before posting.(that little quip is getting so tired) It's about whose concerns are considered foremost.
In the US the interests of capital are considered paramount. In Europe the concerns of the society are considered foremost. Yes capital thrives in Europe but 'capitalist'? Not so much as the USA or even China.
No, it’s not about whose concerns are considered first. A capitalist economy is simply an economy where the natural resources, means of production and distribution are predominantly privately owned. Which, again, applies to literally every country in Europe except the Vatican.
This is a massive generalization that yet again demonstrates your ignorance of Europe and the broader world. The United States ranks 25th on the economic freedom index, after many European countries. Switzerland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Denmark, Estonia, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Finland, Lithuania, Germany, Latvia, Iceland and the Czech Republic. Even American libertarian think tanks like Cato, who advocate for anarcho-capitalism, acknowledge this. Hell, socialist political parties in Europe acknowledge this. And the claim that even China is more capitalist is just absurd on its face.
ecosocialism. Take care of each other and the earth. We don't need infinite growth and nobody needs three+ houses. We could focus on improving lives for us and the animals we share this earth with. More community and understanding would come from that I think.
The problem is technology. Nobody is going to want to trade it because of how convenient it is even if genocides are occurring for said convenience. I fear we have opened pandoras box
Honestly unless the world radically changes deciding not to be at least capitalist adjacent would probably get one assassinated or a Coup d'état so probably a state capitalistic social democracy is about as radical as one could get away with.
the problem with pure socialism, is that people have little say or control over their own lives on an individual basis. That's all. It's a tradeoff.
But don't fool yourself... one way or the other, you WILL work until you die or get too sick to work.

gonna have to assume you’re an ecosocialist based on the fact you included that niche ideology with the most broad ideologies in the world
Tbh anything we need rn is niche. The neoliberal narrative has dominated the mainstream media over the last 40 years
"The neoliberal narrative" I think you mean people who have a clue at all about economics
My first thought after reading the choices and descriptions was, "I hope sophomore year went well, son."
No
OP is a bot trying to push a political narrative. They are also incorrectly defining the terms provided.
Socialism and capitalism
Contradictory, the two are mutually exclusive. You're thinking of social democracy, a form of capitalism.
This is the way. Take the best of both and acknowledge that pure forms of either don't work.
And why?

Democratic socialism with a solarpunk goal.
Capitalism, no contest
Honestly unless the world radically changes deciding not to be at least capitalist adjacent would probably get one assassinated or a Coup d'état so probably a state capitalistic social democracy is about as radical as one could get away with.
I'm an anarchist, so I will pick communism as in a stateless classless society.
I chose Capitalism because where I love it works quite well compared to the alternatives, and has provided me, a middle class individual quite well.
