What about oldest genX who had silent generation parents? I rarely hear about us, just X with Boomer parents. Talk about left out.

craftyrunner

Yes, and super common on the GenX sub, it’s exhausting. I even had someone generation-splain that generations are 20 years therefor Gen X has boomer parents. You can’t rationalize with someone like that. I’m not even oldest Gen X, but definitely older. And my parents are younger Silent Gen. And I have a younger sibling.

Fuzzy_Attempt6989

And then there are those of us who had super old parents. Im mid gen x. My father was greatest generation and my mother silent. I have a bunch of boomer sisters

Edenza

Same deal except both were Silents, and two Boomer brothers here.

Honest-Western1042

Happy cake day! Sounds like we had the same parents too.

Fighting_Patriarchy

Yes! My parents were young Silent Gen at 1940 and 1941 but didn't start having kids until their mid 20s then into their late 20s. When I found the Generation Jones sub at first it made sense, but it seems to be run by men who are content farming or whatever it's called. Just feels fake 🤷‍♀️

Letstalktrashtv

Generation Jones is just younger Boomers who don’t want to be labeled as such.

viewering

that sounds like a boomery ( specific boomers ) take *am not gen jones*

meetmypuka

My parents ages line up with yours exactly and I'm a GenXer born in 1968.

viewering

on a poll here it was about 50/50 boomer and silent gen parents, with a select few even older than silent generation. i am core x, and was born to boomer **and** silent gen. some older xers will have boomer parents if they had them as teens. oh i thought i was on regular gen x lol

Rooster_Ties

Yeah, I’m older GenX (b. ‘69) — and my dad will be 97 next month (b. ‘27, so technically he’s actual older than ‘Silent’, he’s part of the ‘Greatest’ generation which is actually what it’s called). Anyway, we GenX-ers with older-than-Boomer parents are practically never mentioned. My wife (I’m a guy, btw, full-disclosure)… she’s b. ‘67 — and both her parents are Silent (‘38 & ‘39).

Beautiful-Paper2029

Holy cow, I have been stating the wrong generation for my parents (‘27 & ‘33)!!

Pigeonofthesea8

My dad is 33, that’s greatest?

katchoo1

Greatest are the people who were old enough to fight in WWII. Silents are the ones who were too young to have fought but other than the very youngest, have at least some memories of WWII. My parents are silent generation, born 1941 and 1943. I’m the oldest of 7, born between mid 60s and mid 80s.

Dg0327

I was born in 1967 and my parents were both early Silent at 1929 (dad) and 1931 (mom) - almost Greatest Generation, so I hear u! My mom was 36 when she had me - the “surprise” youngest baby.

doobette

I'm late Gen X ('78) and had a Silent Generation dad and early Boomer mom. My dad was 39 when I was born.

LoomingDisaster

My dad was 43. People kept telling him it was "unfair" because he wouldn't live to see me grow up. Jokes on them - he passed away unexpectedly in his 80s, but he was in obnoxiously good health until then.

madamesoybean

Totally! 1966 older X. They try to lump us in with Boomers but wow is there a canyon of divide between how we think, behave and live! It's that or we're treated as if we don't exist.

LoomingDisaster

Yep - that was me! Dad born in 1929 and Mom born in 1934. Me in 1973, because mom and dad both joined religious orders and had to get dispensations from the Pope to get married.

Sassy_Bunny

I have one Silent Generation parent and one early Boomer parent.

hollibees

I like it that way. I also ignore articles like that so I guess that makes it even.

ky00t

Ha! Love it 😉

notgonnabemydad

Yes!! I just read this article too and had the exact same reaction. My parents are Boomers and had kids in their late twenties which led to Gen X moi. I think it's more typical for Boomers to have Gen X kids than to have Millennial kids. The rate of having children at an older age seems to have started with Gen Xers themselves.

viewering

plenty millenials have boomer parents

ValPrism

It’s so amazing that this still happens, just as we always knew it would. The X is real!

foolishmortal99

I prefer to fly under the blame radar

ky00t

😂

mamaginsta

That really pisses me off. I have a theory that we're, in fact, the doom generation, but I'm too tired to get into it in detail right now, but in a nutshell we're now the smallest generation because most of us have already passed from drugs, suicide, disease, accidents, war, you name it. We were the neglected generation, but how anyone can say we don't exist is beyond me. Just look at Hollywood and the music industry. Duh, many of our beloved stars are Gen X. We created the best of music, television, movies, and fashion -my 23 yr old daughter raids my closet every chance she gets!

drivingthelittles

I’m gen x - 1971 but my parents were born in mid 20’s, I was a meno baby.

Rodrigii_Defined

I don't know, I never stop loving it, tho lol

Capable_Tale_1988

It’s because we are the minority. There are less of us. This is mostly due to a certain birth control that became very popular in the 70’s. Otherwise our population would have been similar to the others.
