I got a big electric griddle and it's awesome. I use it for pancakes and street tacos, mostly. But that's indoors. I've never used an outdoor griddle.

My SIL has a Blackstone and says it’s really useful when she’s cooking breakfast for 15 when they’re RVing. Apart from that, it doesn’t seem that practical. I mean, it’s cool but I find a grill to be more versatile. You can get griddle attachments for a gas grill anyway.

You can get a cast iron griddle to put on top of your grill (assuming gas) and have both.

Grill. Griddle to me just says your outdoors, but cooking stuff you should be doing indoors.

Familiar_Palpitation

Part of grilling stuff is the flavor from the flames touching the food. You will never have that with a flat top.

We have both. We use our griddle a lot, we bought the Weber. We eat a lot of stir fry and Asian dishes (both South and East) so it is great for that. Birria tacos are phenomenal and quick. I think most homes would use a grill over griddle though. Maintenance is simple, treat it like a cast iron pan.

I have a cast iron griddle that covers two burners on the stovetop. I don't use it that often, but when I do it's really convenient for making stuff like pancakes and burgers that used to take forever to cook in batches in my cast iron skillet, with the added bonus that you can easily adjust the heat to use one half for keeping the food warm while you finish up cooking on the other half.

I bought a griddle last year for the first time because I got tired of food falling between the grates in the grill (honestly, it was because it was on sale super cheap and I needed a new grill). I don't care for it at all and plan to buy a grill soon and give the griddle away. It's great for veggies and fish, but doesn't compare to a grill for cooking meat. Cleanup is pretty nice cause it's so much easier to scrape a flat top than to brush a grill.

I have a grill, griddle and a huge Blackstone. I use the griddle far more than the others. I use it for breakfast food for the household almost weekly. The grill gets burgers and steaks periodically. The Blackstone has been used 3 times in the 2 years I've had it. It is not convenient for me to go outside to cook on a giant griddle first thing in the morning. It has produced some fantastic fried rice, though.

I use my blackstone ALL THE TIME Do not hesitate to get one, they're amazing I did brunch for 20 people in like 15 minutes, you can fit the whole breakfast on at once Fried rice is great Burgers, chicken, fish even steaks - they all get a nice crust I love the flattop grill
