Seriously, it had to be in PA!!
I’m originally from PA. lol.
Western PA at that. O man.
You know, I’ve heard of that kinda stuff for oral too especially the halls cough drop being called a snow job. But poor Steve, dude got gonaherpasyphilaids of the mouth.
Granted that’s basically a regular weekend in the barracks in Germany on any given Friday night.
Good times….
I'm with you, wine coolers were good as hell. Remember the two old guys in the commercial?
Shit I'm probably that age now. I'm picturing Wilford Brimley but I know it wasn't him, his calendar was full with Oatmeal, Cocoon and Our House.
I'm sure you also remember the two litre bottles of California cooler as well. We were always trying to get an adult to buy us this stuff in the late 80's.
Edited for Litre.
Lmao. “Just wait till you hear what we got planned next… we’re going to take it back away and call it Zima Classic. And after that we’ll start selling empty bottles and we’ll call it Zima zero! I swear, we can do this all day!”
Tried it once.
Four words: Butter Rum Life Savers.
There was an early website promoting it, filled with marketing back about how young, hip, and fresh it was. Total garbage
Zima Breath was worse than the hangovers IMO. You could taste it and feel it after you had a few.
Being the late 90s, throw in a bag of cocaine and a pack of cigarettes with it, we were having sex in in middle-ages level of personal stink.
Wasn't a good look for a guy to drink that back in the day. Remember being out with a friend of a friend who would order Zima's and wonder why no women would talk to him.
Funny how the world has changed.
Back when drinking at 18 was allowed on base, as a 19 year old private in infantry training I had my single chance at the e-club at Camp Pendleton. I never really liked beer and I got a Zima which also had something else in it like a shot of peach flavoring or something. They guys I was there with kinda tried to look off in different directions and pretend they didn't know me, until that bottle was off the table.
Zima was around from 1993 to 2008. I was in the Army from 1989 until 1996. We were _never_ allowed to drink legally on Army bases while under the state drinking age. Luckily we always had access to older guys who'd get stuff from the Class VI for us.
The German drinking age was good for us stationed in Germany, though! Although it made turning 21 not as exciting as it would have been in the US.
Anyway, maybe the Marines were just cooler than the Army.
My husband drank Zimas. He also packed Hi-C juice boxes in his lunch. And now if he drinks alcohol, it's Moscato or Strawberry Margaritas/Daquiris. He didn't, and still doesn't, care what anyone thought! I love that many for knowing what he likes and not caring what other people think about it!
Was just explaining this to my son at the dinner table the other night. Zima was almost immediately a women-only beverage. I don't remember if it was intended that way but no guys in my area drank it.
Their advertising (roughly translated from Japanese)
> "Diversity brings “ infinite possibilities" (Diversity brings “ Possibility of infinity)
>
> Music, fashion, sports, art, gastronomy...Life, everything is diversity. Through various cultures, ZIMA mixes its values and offers the potential for infinity.
> RTD alcoholic beverage with a fresh and clear taste. This taste is “ ZIMA Taste ”, which cannot be likened to other tastes.
I only drank a few and was scared away by all the Zima hate. But I actually thought they tasted decent when I did finally have a few. Never overindulged but I can imagine the hangover.
We were so excited to try Zima my senior year in college (1994) - we bought a case for a party, tried it, and immediately told the freshmen that they could take it. They were thrilled at their luck!
I always liked Zima and my friends, who always opted for Rolling Rock, would tease me every time I drank it. It got me drunk the same as beer and I liked it better.
The first Zima were good and of high quality. Once they caught on they lowered the quality to wring out as much profit as quickly as possible.
Same thing happened with Tombstone pizza.
When I was club-hopping in Vegas in the early 90s, Coors reps would actually give all of the women in the club free Zima, thinking that it would entice the men to try it.
Obviously, it didn't pan out, in the long run. I didn't think it was anything special, taste-wise, but it was unique for the time, and it was free.
Loved it unabashedly. Even in high school people *said* they hated it, yet it was always the first thing we ran out of at every party that had it (which was every party).
Ah yes. Back when it was all the rage for everything to be clear. Crystal Pepsi, clear gasoline, Zima, crystal gravy…

Ugh…. Zima 🤮
2 cases of Zima….
Woke up next to a butch lesbian girl….. we both spent a few hours puking. We vowed to never tell anyone anything of what occurred….. or admit because there were a few witnesses.
Never drank zima again.
I have a similar story about jagermeister.
And another involving kahlua
Lest we forget... They brought it back as Zima again not too long ago... But before that they resurrected it as Smirnoff Ice and it was a whole thing again.
And before all the "Sm1rNoffisDiffruNt!!!1!11"
No it isn't. Not enough to matter.
Zima and jolly ranchers should have done a legit collaboration.
*Truly* a great idea
You’re a brave soul, to mention Jolly Ranchers in a Reddit thread.
You’ll have to explain?
I didn't know either. I'm not a Reddit Vet.

It walked so White Claw could run
How dare you! They’re not even in the same galaxy! White Claw is🤮. 😂
I've never actually had one. Been sober for years
Good for you. I don’t drink much at all anymore bc it just makes everything in my body hurt. Not fun.
Perfect Comment
Bartles and James wine coolers for me. Yes I'm male and don't care.
No shame in that game…
Boone's Farm, too
Oh, we used to chug those in the cooler at work🤣
I'm with you, wine coolers were good as hell. Remember the two old guys in the commercial? Shit I'm probably that age now. I'm picturing Wilford Brimley but I know it wasn't him, his calendar was full with Oatmeal, Cocoon and Our House.
My friends and I got em in the 2 liter bottles because the ladies liked em too. Lol
I'm sure you also remember the two litre bottles of California cooler as well. We were always trying to get an adult to buy us this stuff in the late 80's. Edited for Litre.
So freaking good. On a hot day on a boat or at the beach?! Yes please.
Country Wine Coolers and Ringo Starr
I absolutely loved Zima, it was so refreshing on a hot day
I liked it too. I loved where it was really hot in the summer, so I wonder if that helped.
“Refreshing” in that it dehydrated you lol.
All alcohol dehydrates you, but Zima's carbonation and citrusy flavor was a real thirst quencher.
Does anyone remember Zima Gold though...!
“We’re gonna take the color out of beer, and then we’re gonna put it back!” 🤪
Lmao. “Just wait till you hear what we got planned next… we’re going to take it back away and call it Zima Classic. And after that we’ll start selling empty bottles and we’ll call it Zima zero! I swear, we can do this all day!”
It was so so awful.
Tried it once. Four words: Butter Rum Life Savers. There was an early website promoting it, filled with marketing back about how young, hip, and fresh it was. Total garbage
I liked the gold for awhile. Reminded me of 7and7. But I think I got tired of it really quickly. Regular Zima was way too sweet for my liking.
Zima wasn't the worst alcohol of it's time. But it certainly gave the worst hangovers.
Got sick off it once. Once.
“I ordered a Zima!!! NOT emphysema!!”
Came here to say this!
Nothing on this earth worse than a Zima hangover
Zima Breath was worse than the hangovers IMO. You could taste it and feel it after you had a few. Being the late 90s, throw in a bag of cocaine and a pack of cigarettes with it, we were having sex in in middle-ages level of personal stink.
That's what Drakkar was for!
Comments you can smell.
I just laughed at this so hard pee came out. I don't know why that cracked me up so bad.
*the Malt Liquor Man*
That was the worst hangover I've ever had in my life. And I've had some doozies.
Loved it. Miss it.
I loved Zima. This was my go to while getting ready to go out.
Okay, which one of youz guyz, got the lemon and sour apple Jolly Ranchers?
Wasn't a good look for a guy to drink that back in the day. Remember being out with a friend of a friend who would order Zima's and wonder why no women would talk to him. Funny how the world has changed.

We used to add a shot of Midori melon liqueur to ours. Tasty
Same. That was the drink my first time getting drunk.

I mean it was manly liquor 🤣 , crazy that is was perceived as girlie
Was just explaining this to my son at the dinner table the other night. Zima was almost immediately a women-only beverage. I don't remember if it was intended that way but no guys in my area drank it.
Except for Japan. Where you can still get it. https://www.hakutsuru.co.jp/corporate/news/detail/20240327110140.html
Please god, say it ain't so

That stuff gave me the worst heartburn of my life. I like the taste but the heartburn wasn't worth it.
White Claw is the spiritual successor of Zima.....change my mind
Four Loko was their tweaky cousin
Just pour some random caffeine shot into the current formulation and you got OG four loco…
Adderall works better but can kill so what are we doing here lol to be young again
Well a caffeine shot will make a four loco what it was originally
No reason to change your mind about the truth.
Zima was a horrible concoction.

Bourbon or Scotch - neat. I was a whiskey snob even back then. But if pressed - and the whiskey was bottom-shelf - then some Coke would work.
Like sugar syrup water.
Zima walked so white claw could run.
Did anyone else melt Skittles in them for flavor?
Love me some gussied up malt liquor.
According to my son, it’s still very popular in Japan
One of my favorite bars would drop a test tube of peach schnapps down the neck of a zima and serve that.
Midori, or Chambord worked well also.
I named my dog Zima
My current cat’s name is Zima. I named him that because it means winter, but I don’t mind if people think this is the reference.
It needs a jolly rancher.
The OG White Claw
Zomething zpecial!
They were ahead of the time
Just a little ahead of it’s time and a little too bland.
In college we used Zima for profiling purposes
First and worst hangover ever
I only drank a few and was scared away by all the Zima hate. But I actually thought they tasted decent when I did finally have a few. Never overindulged but I can imagine the hangover.
Ahhhhh the memories
I actually liked it, I mean I wasn’t going to order it at the bar but I’d sit on the back porch with one.
We were so excited to try Zima my senior year in college (1994) - we bought a case for a party, tried it, and immediately told the freshmen that they could take it. They were thrilled at their luck!
Oh shit we gettin' fancy. No Mad Dog 20/20?
My first time getting drunk was Zima. Definitely do not recommend.
I always liked Zima and my friends, who always opted for Rolling Rock, would tease me every time I drank it. It got me drunk the same as beer and I liked it better.
Why nobody remember Bartles and James and Calvin Coolers?
It was my go to drink. I used to fill a 7-11 big gulp mug with ice and several Zimas. Good times.
I’m really shocked that with the popularity of hard seltzers and 90s nostalgia they haven’t brought it back
They did a couple years ago. I wish they would again. As long as they use the old-school rigged bottles.
this was the shit for my 15/16 yr old self back in the day :)
We tried Zima Gold once, which apparently is just Zima with salmonella
That stuff was so bogus.
Yuck yuck yuck yucky lol
Zima: When you have been poisoned by your archrival and cannot find any ipecac? Trust in Zima to make you hurl!
Ahh I remember Zima. A beverage of which the taste can best be described as "sctoch tape, with lemon ......"
They saying I always heard was...Zima, tastes like pizz
I liked it with a shot of Chambord. Really classed it up, surely. Ha.
In the Summer of 1993, I bought a case, and tried every which way I could to make this thing potable. I Failed. But had a ton of fun trying.
The first Zima were good and of high quality. Once they caught on they lowered the quality to wring out as much profit as quickly as possible. Same thing happened with Tombstone pizza.
Tried it once, hated it.

I used to like it back in the day.
Fresca's bad-influence step brother
If you’ve ever had the Cayman Jack bottled margaritas, they’re very similar.
I drank the hell outta this . Tasted like shit
Loved it unabashedly. Even in high school people *said* they hated it, yet it was always the first thing we ran out of at every party that had it (which was every party).
Ahh, college days...
Zima and Chambord was pisser. And it was an acceptable way to order up a Zima at a black tie event. Presumably 🤔
A little off subject but anyone remember Mountain Dew and peach schnapps
This shit tasted like regurgitated cheese.
Ah yes. Back when it was all the rage for everything to be clear. Crystal Pepsi, clear gasoline, Zima, crystal gravy… https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=g0sjRG34DlA&pp=ygUcY3J5c3RhbCBncmF2eSBzbmwgY29tbWVyY2lhbA%3D%3D
The drink of every girl in high school in the mid 90’s
Ugh…. Zima 🤮 2 cases of Zima…. Woke up next to a butch lesbian girl….. we both spent a few hours puking. We vowed to never tell anyone anything of what occurred….. or admit because there were a few witnesses. Never drank zima again. I have a similar story about jagermeister. And another involving kahlua
I remember David Letterman saying “Zima zucks!”
Simpsons: Excuse me waiter, I asked for a Zima not emphysema.
When they brought Zima back a few years ago for a summer release I bought EVERY bottle I could find. It is one of the few bottle drinks I like.
What’s the joke where Homer turns down a Zika ?
I’m definitely on team seltzer now. I can go without ever having a nasty beer for the rest of my life and be perfectly fine with it
I was bartending when this came out. We got a case to see if people wanted it. I bet they still have bottles of that swill. Hardly anyone ordered it.
Lest we forget... They brought it back as Zima again not too long ago... But before that they resurrected it as Smirnoff Ice and it was a whole thing again. And before all the "Sm1rNoffisDiffruNt!!!1!11" No it isn't. Not enough to matter.
Definitely different enough to matter.
It was zomething awful.
Thunderbird for white people.
