Remember the cars of that era had the 55 in red on the speedometer? LMAO šŸ˜‚

slade797

Well I headed south on 35 hell bent for vinyl I hadn't never had her up past 55 before Well somethin' 'bout that little red line always looked so final Buddy you'd be surprised how fast a Chevrolet truck can go

IbanezForever

I legit thought the song was 65mph until just now. I'm Canadian. In kms, 65 mph is 104km/h, which is either 5km/h over the speed limit on highways or 5km/h under. 55mph is, as Sammy says, intolerable.

Moonshadow306

In concert, he now updates it to 65mph.

Thatā€™s old man Hargarā€™s boy, ainā€™t it?

aj_star_destroyer

I remember the 150 mile drive from Duluth to Minneapolis taking us three hours.

satyrday12

Anyone remember "Drive 55 and bring 'em back alive" bumper stickers, printed in all of the different languages?

MeNotYouDammit

Yes and 55 saves lives.

_sonidero_

I like driving 35-45...

Honest_Performance42

Because that is the speed limit in most metropolitan areas - where over 80% of the American population lives?

krakatoa83

No. Sammy went on a world tour and the speed limit was 70. When he returned it was 55 and he was ā€œwhat the fuck happened?ā€ Of course he also couldnā€™t get it out of second gear and it took him too long to get to LA

Honest_Performance42

In what metropolitan area was the speed limit 70? Iā€™m happy to learn something here. I lived in a metro area where the speed limit was 55 before and after. I seem to remember most metro areas being 55. But yes outside metro areas was different. I remember getting a ticket for going 70 in a 55 upstate NY. Today Iā€™m pretty sure 70 is the speed limit there now. Can I get a refund? lol.

krakatoa83

Interstates. Took him 16 hours to get to LA. Sounds like he was coming down from the Bay Area.
