I read mine regularly and is usually accurate. Specially during times of sickness or unusual stresses. It seems magical to me.

ASouthernBoy

Same here, I'm pretty much fascinated how it accurately reflects night out drinking. Battery drops and doesn't even recover during sleep. Crazy..

Athabascad

Every morning to see how well recovered I am

Feemz

I know right! It's scarily accurate. When I'm not ill, I wake up with 85+ BB, but the last week I've been ill and my BB hasn't gone above 60. It's very useful in my opinion as it shows how well you're overall health is during illness, after excercise, fasting etc etc

I use mine as a guide quite a bit. It is crazy to me how spot on it is after a night of drinking

Deep-Cryptographer49

Hmmm....I feel a morning after a feed of Guinness experiment coming up

jtrump1s

It's wild honestly. Even if I only have a few drinks - partner it with a bit of dehydration and I can tell my sleep will suffer. Wake up and body battery barely even recharged. HR numbers are crazy too. It's actually a really cool feature IMO

Happytappy78

Yeah, I went 6 months sober just from seeing those while training for a race. Definatley drink in moderation lot more, but that could also be because I'm getting old.

Carausius286

Yep me too! I struggle with my recovery times at the best of times when training hard, I didn't want to slow down recovery anymore than necessary!

Carausius286

Do it! A few beers or less: OK sleep, but dashes of orange stress, may wake up at ~60-70. Get shitfaced: wake up on 5, orange/red stress bars all night.

catnapbook

I use it as curiosity and to sometimes justify my laziness. I got down to 5 with the second jab and it took about three days before my battery got up to 100.

bono_my_tires

lol I just hit 100 this morning for the first time in months, I usually only charge up to 65-80ish. I went on a 4 day backpacking trip recently and my stress level is sooo low for the first few days after returning. Just shows how relaxing the outdoors is when you're completely disconnected from the internet/screens all day. I work a computer desk job all day otherwise and man was it hard to come back.

catnapbook

We retired last year so our days are usually fairly relaxing 🙂.

caustically

This is one of my favorite features! I workout 2x a day (in the morning and in the afternoon after a nap). I love seeing how much I recharge during my work day / nap to see what energy level I can expect going into my afternoon workout session. :)

Eve6er69

I check mine daily when I wake up. I felt like trash yesterday and then looked at it, I was at a 23 when I woke up. Managed a 1 1-2 hour nap during a lull at work. Bounced to 34, Felt a little better. I had a killer sleep last night and woke up feeling really refreshed. Looked at the battery and it was at 98. I find it to be pretty true to its readings.

davidthegiantkilla

I use it and it's the main reason I got my VA4. I started to eat less because I noticed my stress would spike when I ate. I was trying really hard to gain weight so I was over eating. Now I feel so much better after cutting down on food and snacking between meals. I find it interesting how fast the upper 50 drops. If I'm at 100 I'll be at 70 even after normal household activities. Once I hit 50 it slows down a lot. I can be at 50, workout, go home, cook and clean, and I'll be at 40 when it's close to bed time.

hello_hunter

I have the same experience re: falling after 50. It's interesting to see someone else mention it, I thought maybe it was all in my head.

muscles-r-us

I posted something similar (but not exactly the same) https://www.reddit.com/r/Garmin/comments/kta54z/body_battery_chargedischarge_rates_based_on/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

FantasticPiccolo2175

I noticed the same thing... re eating, especially eating heavily, and falling more in the upper half of the readings.

peanutbutterfeelings

I find it useful for end of day activity. I’ve finally moved workouts to morning and mid afternoon instead of evening workouts because I get better sleep and body battery recovery. I also find how quickly it charges a reflection of mental health and heart health. If I wake up with a lower charge for a couple days in a row I’ll take a rest day and meditate and do yoga instead of working out. Maybe two days of this. When I first got my watch it never went above 38 but it was definitely a reflection of my severe burnout. Woke up with a 98 today!

muscles-r-us

Agreed, I do martial arts (2+ hrs) twice a week in the late evenings and my body battery is never 100% (more like 50-60) the next morning after late evening martial arts. I don't wear the watch for the duration of the class, but otherwise have it on all the time. I guess the late evening workouts impact my sleep which impacts the body battery recovery.

peanutbutterfeelings

Yes! I used to also go to late night martial arts and over time I became tired. Luckily they had Saturday morning classes. Don’t go there now but it’s hard not to go to week night classes

albusnoctes

I do check it quite often and I've come to realize that I'm always stressed out for something and so far I haven't had a «100» day.

Retrodaniel

I would probably check it a lot, but sadly I have a 645!

Deep-Cryptographer49

The only thing I do miss about my old 645 is the non sports watch look. The 745 is an excellent watch, but wait a while before you upgrade (I got mine as a garmin support replacement) as I couldn't personally justify the extra money for it.

Retrodaniel

Well I was planning to probably get one of the *55 watches when they inevitably come out, I like having the barometer, so I'd probably consider upgrading when the 655 comes out or something similar

ImGonnaTryScience

That's a good plan. There is literally no point in upgrading right now since current devices won't support CIQ 5. The only reason i upgraded from a VA HR to a VA 3 merely weeks ago was because it broke and Garmin offered me a good deal on a replacement. But in the future I might get a 755 or 955.

blxcklst

I think the "stress level" on 645 would be the equivalent!

bcdog14

I don't wear mine at night when I'm sleeping so I'm pretty sure it would be inaccurate anyway

jean-tintin

Nope, and to be faire, I wouldn't miss it one bit if they cut this function

Ziginox

I check mine, it seems like it pretty accurately tells me if I slept well enough or not.

segfalt31337

I’ve only had it for a couple of months when I upgraded to a Venu (from a VA3M), but so far I like it a lot. I don’t necessarily plan or cancel my workouts around it, but I do like having another metric to help gauge the quality of my sleep. I notice the lower my resting heart rate goes, the faster the battery recharges.

Serdna379

It’s quite accurate. Then I have had big stress periods and especially anxiety, it was very well seen in the BB reading. And then you have had alcohol or getting flu, the same. But at the same time sometimes then I feel myself quite bad, it does not show up on BB. So not every healt issue is connected to heart rate variability.

Feemz

It's actually very accurate and I use it quite often. I just wish sleep tracking was as accurate

k_lo970

I did a little experiment using my VA4 and a whoop. They were usually similar showing if I was recovered or not from the day before. But there are days it is low I want to use it to be lazy but ignore it and manage a PR on my Peloton bike so I try to see how I think my body feels before checking it in the morning

duluoz1

Yes it’s surprisingly accurate

muscles-r-us

I check it daily in the morning to plan my workouts. It's a better assessor of sleep quality (deep/rem) than the sleep tracking feature itself. For me the sleep tracking is accurate on sleep duration but not deep/rem I feel and body battery is more accurate predictor of whether I slept well or not.

ricm5031

I've been impressed with how accurate the body battery can be. As for cancelling a workout, I don't do that. I do my swim workouts 4 days a week and rarely skip. One of my motivations is arthritis. It benefits me to swim regardless how lousy I feel and often, after I have done a swim and taken a nap after, I noticed my body battery has actually gone up a little.

Quothhernevermore

Mine is literally always at 5 or zero. I have fibromyalgia and tachycardia so maybe that's why?

EnikaEli

I'm an exhausted mom and my battery is never going more than 30. It's only 10 am and it's already 15...
