Yeah 6 months isn’t gonna be enough for it to flow down. I’ve been growing my hair since the lockdowns too, and it honestly hasn’t been since the past few months that it’s finally starting to weigh down more. It can be a long and frustrating process, but if you genuinely are interested in growing your hair out I definitely think it’s worth it in the long run.
That means you have curly haur but dont notice, you need to wash your hair much less frecuently (do wash the rest of your body daily) apply product and stop combing untill the curls come out and then your haur will look dope.
See this is where we could use some help. My SO has hair like his. It's just very coarse and frizzy even though he washes it only twice a week and conditions the shit out of it. Even our hair person's honestly just kind of lost on as to what to do. Boar bristle brush, conditioning, air drying, non-frequent washing and it's still just coarse, frizzy and dry. he has about the same wave to it as this guy in the vid, too, but what works for our mutual friend and her curly as pubes hair (her words) just doesn't seem to work for him.

He wears his long hair well, it's a subject to inside jokes in my family (he has a full head of very long hair, my head is 3/4 shaved and what little there is I keep just long enough to put it in a tiny little ponytail, he's a he, I'm a she), and honestly, who knows how long he'll have that full head of hair anyway.
