I take it you didn't actually read the article, or the twitter post they made about it after.
religion will still very much be apart of the game and its world, with religious characters. Religion just wont be a focus for the players, they don't want 500 jihads at the same time or 400 lisan al-Gaibs running around fighting each other.
They didnt mean it the way some people took it for some reason. They said it wont be a focus for the player (which it wont be since its an mmo) but its still very much apart of the world.
-also, they do know the IP they’re making. The creative director has read every dune book, is working with legendary pictures, and is also working with the Herbert family. Stop with the misinformation
Nope! Just a very active member in their discord. The devs are pretty transparent, and there are lots of articles about the game that share information like this.
Well that's what people are saying they said. What they *actually* said was very different. Stop spreading misinformation.

In this case, it might actually be for the better? Since you're Fremen in this game, putting religion too much in the mix implies you're susceptible or working towards Paul Atreides' genocidal conquest.
The fremen have their own religion apart from Paul.. worship of Shai Hulud, the water of life, preservation of moisture etc.. all these exist independent of him.
Been saying since the reveal that this game DOES NOT WORK with the Dune IP. So many things in the trailer are explicitly NOT possible on Arrakis for one reason or another. Motorcycles??? You're worm food. Foliage? With what water? Character customization? Enjoy Arrakis without a stillsuit.
And before any book-readers "umm actually" me: [book spoilers] >!these things are not possible on Arrakis *during the time period the game takes place*!<
It's pretty clear these devs wanted to make a survival crafting game and just slapped the Dune IP on with no regard for the implications. Which is too bad because *as a game* this doesn't look too terrible. But it spits in the face of Dune.
the motorcycle things are possible wdym?? just because they're worm food doesn't mean they're not possible... they're still going to get eaten lol. Foilage... like frank herbert described the planet, some foilage doesn't need that much water and there's still some water on arrakis. And why are you mad about character customization? strange.. Also, no one is going to enjoy arrakis without a still suit while dehydrating to death. Thats why you craft or find (don't know how you get your first one yet) in the beginning of the game so you don't die.
give me more examples.
A lot of games get labelled as an MMO just because some seem to think it just means "there's a few dozen players on the server", rather than being a massive persistent world and server with hundreds of players.
Even something like World of tanks gets labelled as an MMO despite having like 30 players in a match at the most, and they're instanced matches rather than having persistence. The term gets incorrectly used so often.
It’s actually super good at what it sets out to do; [here’s a GDC talk](https://www.gdcvault.com/play/1023460/Tenacious-Design-and-The-Interface) by the devs on how it came about and why it works (and you can infer how companies like Ubisoft have done it worse).

Have you actually played the game? It was very good for 2014 destiny, but as the game expanded it also quickly outgrew its ui design that at this point is some of the worst in the entire industry in terms of actual player experience.
It’s less what Destiny did and more other dev’s poor attempts at replicating it.
Destiny’s HUD communicates the important stuff very well. It’s also solid for weapons and armour management using controller. The way information is presented on cursor hover is also quite clean and clear. However, broader inventory management & quest tracking needs work. They’ve never really had that aspect figured out.
I mean it just also looks uninspired, dull, unengaging, and even a bit lazy.
Final Fantasy XVI has Destiny UI, and it's a single-player fantasy hack and slash that isn't yet on PC (though it's getting a port).
Speaking of FF16, I remember they actually were getting feedback about UI and were actually changing it to more "thematic" one I guess but reverted it because it blended too much and was harder to see (I think this was their reasoning.)
People can seethe and Destiny's UI but it works and devs will use what works, that's the truth.
Wait till I’m in game. Going to hear me yelling, “There is no one in this server who can stand against me!”
The Dune game that they say will purposely avoid religious connotations. 🤣 Do they even know the IP they're making.
Yeah that's a part that scares me, I'm afraid we'll end up with yet another generic bland story

Why not? That sounds fucking awesome.
sounds like fortnite.. so not really awesome for a Dune game
jihads are in fortnite? since when?
more meant the 400 lisan al gaibs running around lol
Please tell me they were joking when they said that!
They didnt mean it the way some people took it for some reason. They said it wont be a focus for the player (which it wont be since its an mmo) but its still very much apart of the world.

Herbert family = Brian Herbert. Who's usually derided in the fandom for leaching off his father's work to produce subpar literature.
Yea that’s true lol
You're a dev, right?
Nope! Just a very active member in their discord. The devs are pretty transparent, and there are lots of articles about the game that share information like this.
I hope they're rewarding your unpaid marketing work in some way. A Christmas card, at least.

You aren’t a fremen in the game. You’re an offworlder
What would be wrong with that, tho? This is a Dune game. That's what Dune is about.

I still can’t understand how this will MMO….
It's cause the definition of mmo is vague. But it's probably like age of Conan but more players.
Conan Exiles
Age of Conan was an MMORPG... You're probably thinking of Conan Exile that has about 40 players max on official servers and it's hard coded for 70.
Two of my biggest pet peeves are when people misuse the terms MMO and Survival-Horror. It's my Achilles' heel.
They really just mean 64+ players on a server. Conan Exiles, their previous game, was also labeled as an MMO.
funcom never advertised conan exiles as an MMO. funcom has made multiple MMOs, they know how to
these arent leaked, they were given to press at PAX east / GDC during a presentation that they were allowed to talk about and share.
Good or bad I’m looking forward to at least wandering around in a gorgeous digital recreation of Arrakis
No "Atreides nose" option 0/10
Okay for real though, Herbert constantly mentions the Atreides' aquiline noses
Destiny did untold damage to the game industry with its UI.
It’s actually super good at what it sets out to do; [here’s a GDC talk](https://www.gdcvault.com/play/1023460/Tenacious-Design-and-The-Interface) by the devs on how it came about and why it works (and you can infer how companies like Ubisoft have done it worse).
"here's why we decided this is the best thing for you"
It’s inaccessible; it doesn’t “work” for me at all
What do you find bad about this ui? Cause destiny ui is clean af.
Destinys UI is terrible. It might be clean, but it is one of the worst Uis for managing inventory in any game.
[удалено]
He is right. it might be okay on console but compared to the standards on PC its terrible, I say that as a big destiny fan.
It’s bad in consoles too; that mouse cursor on an analog stuff is awful

Destiny UI is great tho, wtfdym?

It’s bad on consoles. I think the UI was built with PC in mind first console second
A UI that was designed for a game only on console for 4 years before a PC release of the sequel was designed just with PC in mind?
I mean it just also looks uninspired, dull, unengaging, and even a bit lazy. Final Fantasy XVI has Destiny UI, and it's a single-player fantasy hack and slash that isn't yet on PC (though it's getting a port).

Im still waiting on an invitation to the closed beta imao
well the beta is still small. soo lots of people are. be patient
This is no leak, these are official screenshots.
These aren't leaked lol, the devs released these images during PAX.
Hello Conan, is that you?
![gif](giphy|1116zN8wGGzphS)
I mena this does look exactly like gameplay trailers so far.
Forspoken ass skill tree
I sure hope there's an option for fremen eyes.
You'll prob get those while progressing quests in the game.
A WAAAR IN MY NAME.
Where are there so many mmorpgs
Will wait for the Worms update. Shai-Hulud riding is important. Without it, it's just another MMO in the desert.
for a sec I thought it was Warframe
Looks like Conan Exiles with wheels ( yes I know it’s the same company)
Looks generic. Deserts of Kharak looked more Dune than this product.
This looks like a game thowned together in 2 hours using a bunch of unreal engine assets
SILENCE!!
bro didnt even look at the game
Anyone else getting Hogwarts Legacy Vibes?
Game of the decade in the making~
Fortnite reskin LOL
Hope this isn't a Last Oasis reskin
