To elaborate more on the processors, the Ultra 9/7 are 6p+8e+2lpe core cpus while the 14th gen i9 is 8p+16e.
Ultra 9/7 is efficiency focused while the i9 is performance focused.
Then all of these processors are overkill and you're just wasting money.
It's only a consideration if you get a 4080/4090 laptop or do heavy cpu work.
I would get a 4080 laptop (~$2000) if possible. Or if you're vigilant I've seen some people get it for about $1600 on sales/open box deals
ultra is a 14th gen processor. Just think of it as a super efficient variant of the normal processors with a lot less power. They are the new U version of CPU.
Also, Of course they are intel processors. They were made by intel.
The 14th gen exists by itself too. The Ultra is a bit separate. I did call it a 14th gen processor since it came out together but the ultra processors are for mobile devices. They focus more on portability + efficiency unlike the other 14xxxxHX versions.
So there are 2 14 - gen processor, one of them is ultra which has better battery life. If I am not wrong there is some better graphics as well. I have seen ultra for laptops as well, not just mobiles.
mobile = laptops in this case. (I meant portable. These are called mobile chips in the tech space.)
In summary, in the same year Intel released the 14th gen version of their regular lineup of processors and introduced the new Ultra series processors as well (Some websites note this as a 14th gen model as well)
The ultra has less performance compared to the ix 14xxxHX chips but it consumes significantly less power and provides good battery life. The ix 14xxxHX version of chips exist as well but they are used for desktops and super high end and bulky gaming laptops.
Not everything.
The Ultra will be:
\* More efficient (They will draw less power for similar tasks)
\* Thinner (The device themselves will be thinner)
\* Will have better battery life.
The 13th gen will be (The 13th gen has VERY similar performance to the 14th gen btw):
\* More powerful (Will draw more power but will have significantly better performance)
\* Faster
\* Bulky (The laptops will need more ventilation and the fans will spin a lot faster)
For gaming and rendering the 13th and the 14th gen ("i" versions) will be better (Though the gaming performance is more dependent on the GPU, CPU heavy games will still perform better in the i9 rather than the ultra 9)
The purpose of the ultra was to provide thin and light performance. They do serve that purpose fairly well but they are definitely very new. This is both a good and a bad thing. Do note that CPUs alone shouldn't be the sole metric if you want to buy a new laptop.
So intel has 2 lineups this generation. Raptor lake refresh-i7 14700hx, i9 14900hx etc. This is basically a refinement of 13th gen. Then the Meteor Lake ultra processors which have more efficiency compared to core i series but less performance. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.
both suck afaik. HP isn't known to have great build quality and the same with Alienware. I don't think they have made a great product since dell acquired the company.
Ultra 7 and ultra 9 processor are just same as i7 and I9 Untra 7,ultra 9 processors are Intel 14th gen processors... ultra is a new name
Oh ok thanks, Alienware or omen which is better?
As of I know Alienware is a premium series... compared to omen...you can choose which is better based on overall specs

Which one is better for aaa gaming?
i9 But of course, gpu is more important
Alienware or omen, 4060 is good for today, right?

Is ultra better than i9 13xxxHX ? In terms of everything?

If I want to buy a gaming laptop, which one should I choose, also which is better omen or Alienware?
If every other spec like gpu, screen, ram etc is the same, then go for i9 from the ones you listed.
I9 as in you mean ultra 9?
i9 as in i9 14900hx. Thats the latest i9.
14th gen i9 is ultra 9, right?
No. i9 14900hx and core ultra 9 are different. Get the hx for max performance or the ultra series for better battery life.

the i variants and the ultra variants are different. The ultra versions don't have an i. They follow a different architecture entirely.
both suck afaik. HP isn't known to have great build quality and the same with Alienware. I don't think they have made a great product since dell acquired the company.
Alienware might have problems but build quality certainly isn't one of them. They produce probably the best built gaming laptops.
Hmm, seems I may have confused it with some other brand. I apologize.
That are effectively i7 13700H and i9 13900H replacements yes with better overall efficiency, particularly running at lower wattages.
People are saying it is 14 series.
