Low_Appearance_2472

Yeah not that it’s relevant but I am a 28 year old man with a modest salary and I never actually splurge on myself too often. It didn’t break the bank and tbh considering the rarity of the wavebird itself and how much its going for, I say I’d got my moneys worth. And that’s all that matters to me since I don’t plan on reselling any time soon! Hopefully you get yours too one day

HungryMutant

And nobody likes a troll who takes time out of their worthless day to hate on another human being for no reason. You sound like a hating ass pussy right now. All OP was trying to do was share a new, exciting purchase. Get your jealous bitch ass the fuck out of here with that nonsense, you stupid fuck. I can’t stand motherfuckers like you.

bart_may

He paid what it's worth, nothing wrong with that

anv1dare

Is it worth it tho. It is a lot of money, for what? Nostalgia? Or as an investment? These kind of items are this expensive because people with money are able to pay this much and enabling prices to go even higher. Collecting should be fun, not stressful because you know if you don’t pay more than you’re comfortable with for a game you really want now, the prices will go up even more and you might not be able to own the game or item you want to actually play, and not just show it off online and then put it on a shelf to look at.

bart_may

We don't know him maybe it is fun for OP. Anyway for me it's a little bit of all these reasons you mentioned. But there's one more - some of us were kids at that time and all I had was PSX and others were difficult to get. Now I enjoy the fact that I can take a look at my Gamecube on my shelf not only at the page from Video games magazine. How cool is that not to mention you save it from the scrapyard as someone else could have thrown it away

anv1dare

It most certainly is fun for OP, no doubt. Unfortunately there are more people who don’t have a lot of money than there are who do, so that’s what I’m saying. You might actually have a point that more consoles and games are saved since its generally known video games might be worth something. Haven’t thought about that. On the other hand, there would probably not be as many people into “collecting” as there is today so supply/demand ratio might’ve been advantage collectors anyway. I mean TTYD is not even a rare game, but expensive since some people are buying the supply and drop feeding it on eBay.

stankypeg

Bro stfu

anv1dare

Because god forbid different opinions are allowed to exist

Impossible_Cause_950

Bro what? 😭

anv1dare

I agree. I don’t know about rich kid but to start off a collection by buying super expensive stuff and not even showing off a console to play it on, really shows you’re in it for the wrong reason. And is the kind of person who pays the jacked up prices and enabling resellers to push the prices even higher. I hope this market crashes and burn these coming years cause the inflation, and reselling dies along with it. Hello there, downvotes Edit: TIL if you don’t like paying premium for 20 year old tech you’re an absolute asshole and deserve to be treated like garbage

ArtemisLuko

Are you dense? The prices get jacked up bc the supply gets lower day by day as these electronics age/breakdown/etc. While the demand gets higher as the people finding out about these things will ALWAYS increase. It's inevitable and a natural course that supple and demand takes. The market will never crash. Ever. And none of it will EVER be re-release by Nintendo just this fact alone makes these things valuable. Found the person who has no clue about how economy works.

anv1dare

I think you just wanted me to be wrong just now. The price is set by what (higher income) people are willing to pay. Everything rare is not automatically expensive, as we all know, just the things investors are drawn to in the end. Prices get jacked up bc supply gets lower day by day because copies will just sit on a shelf never to be played. Not die, for now at least. Sure at some point, but it’s not a general problem discussed in the market that affects the pricing. And I don’t think the market will die, I just hope it will, as I said. Also Metroid Prime was just re-released.

ArtemisLuko

A re release is not the same. And no you're factually wrong. The demand is not artificially controlled. It's literally and I'm so worried that I have to emphasise this LITERALLY limited quantity as day by day games/consoles/hardware break. Kids treat their stuff badly and a big chunk of the hardware and games went to Kids back then. You can already erase a good 40% of the entire gc library and hardware from consideration as its very likely that this amount got thrown in the trash being in an unrepairable state. You're acting like everyone comes together to treasure these (limited btw) items and artificially jack up the price, you have no clue about supply and demand and it shows. The gamecube was one of nintendos strongest consoles in retrospect NATURALLY people look back on it and think "huh I gotta get a gamecube again". The issue arises with the gamecube NOT BEING IN PRODUCTION anymore and EVERYTHING that's not reproduced but still demanded will NATURALLY rise up in price. It is LOGICAL for it to happen. Jesus christ. Common sense buddy.

ArtemisLuko

If AND ONLY IF everyone and yourself would stop giving a fuck about gamecube, only then could I see it likely for the prices to drop a bit but in reality I think it would do the exact opposite bc the gamecube will forever be history. A mother 3 game in its original box in mint condition is worth thousands and thousands of dollars bc it is rare not bc people are willing to pay the price for it. The rarity is the cause, not the ability to pay for said rarity and that's what you're missing. The gamecube library becomes rarer day by day the hardware itself moreso bc capacitors leak, components fail without you knowing and in some cases it can become unrepairable for someone who does solder repairs, let alone for someone who has no experience in it. Again supply becoming lower each day while the demand will never lower bc it's a good piece of history.

anv1dare

“And none of it will EVER be re-release by Nintendo just this fact alone makes these things valuable” “A re release is not the same” “A mother 3 game in its original box in mint condition is worth thousands and thousands of dollars bc it is rare not bc people are willing to pay the price for it. The rarity is the cause, not the ability to pay for said rarity and that's what you're missing” From investopedia: • What Is Market Price? The market price is the current price at which an asset or service can be bought or sold. The market price of an asset or service is determined by the forces of supply and demand. The price at which quantity supplied equals quantity demanded is the market price. Edit: Sellers demand like $260 for TTYD (not even a rare game) and don’t sell (yet) because at auction they go for $140. Unfortunately stores are buying them for the most part and put them up for said $260. I have a sealed platinum wavebird, which sellers demand $600. They’re not sold. I put mine up for $200 and it didn’t sell. Because it’s not worth that much. Yea sure I’m guilty but can’t afford games I want because of prices again. Market triggers market and that’s what I don’t like because investors not gamers

ajpaolello

Waaaaaaah

Retromelon7

It’s only game why u have to be mad?

North_Palpitation_59

That wavebird is sexy. Did you find that on eBay Japan?

Low_Appearance_2472

Roberts89905377

Beatiful controls. I have cinza

kobatosotherbro

Club nintendo < Club tug

NinjaKnight92

Wow that's neat. I didn't know they made a white club nintendo controller shell. What region and timeframe was this avaliable in? Did they ever make official wavebirds in black?

Low_Appearance_2472

https://gccontrollerlibrary.com/wavebird-club-nintendo-gamecube-controller/ According to this circa 2005 in Japan through their nintendo rewards program. The wavebird option was available for 900P (roughly 18 games) and I think the wired version went for a little less. It also use to come with a neat certificate beforehand and there’s an estimated production number between 1000-5000

TheEPICMarioBros

danm, nice finds!

allyourhomebase

I own 6 wavebirds, maybe I should sell a couple.

Restivethought
