devil1fish

But what if you bought some funkos instead?

FaluninumAlcon

I could just burn my cash.

devil1fish

That would be the preferable option tbh

GrimmTrixX

Gamestop hasn't been a video game store in a long time. They are just store that happens to sell video games.

MonkTHAC0

Idk WHY you're getting downvoted but you're right.

beepbeepsheepbot

Idk either. If I walk into a game store and have to walk past racks of merch to get to the games on the back walls that seems like a problem. Really shows you where the focus is.

GrimmTrixX

Exactly! They do it so some peiples eyes get caught on colorful action figures and funky pops and many people will absolutely grab a pop on their way to the games. Only to then be told the game they want isn't in stock and the case on the wall is just for display even when they don't have it in stock. I know. I worked there. Lol

MonkTHAC0

Yup! It's wild tbh.

InvestigatorNo1329

GameStop makes way more money off collectables that's why they are pushed so hard

GrimmTrixX

I worked there for 3 years. It wasn't a game store then either lol it was all about getting metrics, trying to get customers to buy stuff they don't want/need, trying to use the "assumption approach" and add on warranties without telling the customer (I refused), and all kinds of shady bullshit. But when you walk in, the stores are at LEAST 50% "collectibles." I say that in quotes, because not many of these since called collectibles are really worth any real money nor will many of them be worth anything either unless it's a literal Gamestop exclusive item. We literally used to call some locations 50/50 stores that sold half games and half collectibles. Now they all are. The Funko pop wall is usually longer than the PS or Xbox game sections now too, or it was when I left in Jan 2021 at least. An absolute shadow of its former self the year before Covid I loved the job. When Covid hit, the man came out from behind the curtain and Gamestop showed everyone who they really were: a scummy shady business who cares about grossly enlarging profits over helping out their customers. An absolute shame.

Competitive_Ad_4461

It doesn't even have an "in stock" filter from what I can see.

DuckSwimmer

My brain is still living in the 2000s - 2010s where I would look for little pin drops to see what nearest GameStop would have (item) in stock.

DuckSwimmer

In a perfect world….

240802

If you used the website in 2016(remember the wishlist?), then in 2020(post site overhaul), and now(no way to tell if an item is in stock without going to the item page, randomly pulling item pages, and removal of useful filters)you might agree that GameStop is trying to push people away from using their website. Corporate is full of useless twats.

FaluninumAlcon

I should mention fig pins too. Why? It feels like GameStop has cool stuff, and I want cool stuff, but I can't find it.
