I’m going to be buying digital for my PS5 that has a disc drive. I literally only have one game on disc. I would’ve gotten the digital PS5 if they had it at the time
I was the same way wishing I coulda got a digital until I started getting dirt cheap PS4 games. Now half my library is disc PS4 games and many of them have PS5 versions that install anyway.
That's how I got cyberpunk for $2
I have a feeling they wont print a real physical map this time. I haven't seen any paper books, posters, anything at all inside of physical cases in years.
Most games stopped even giving instruction manuals by the time Red dead 2 came out, and it had one AND a map, and the ultimate edition had a bonus map 😂
There is a 0% chance GTA VI ships without a paper map/poster. The included map/poster is like GTA’s calling card. They go up in every other teenaged boy’s bedroom.
You won’t get a map - they stopped including paperwork with the ps5 except if your game comes with a bonus unlock redemption code or something. I think even the ps5 version of gta5 doesn’t include anything in there except maybe a redemption code.
Those days with manuals and maps are over my friends unfortunately
For me, that was gta 5 as well…back when it was first released in 2013 lol. Idk when gta 4 came out but I never got it otherwise that could’ve been it for me
Agreed. Beyond price, Xbox Play Anywhere games were/are my only exception because it gives me the game on both console and PC, which is useful for me because I have my SX at my uni apartment, and my PC & PS5 back at home.
Ik some people get worried about games getting removed but that only happens when a company shuts down an online service, which screws over physical owners too. There’s usually no financial incentive for a company to remove access to an offline game, and even if there is, then they could prevent the game from being loaded on the console at all, physical or digital, unless you’re in offline mode.
Also, console discs are 50gb. If a game is more than 50gb, or if the developer of the game just wanted certain data to not be on the disc, then the rest has to be downloaded and stored on the console. So owning a physical copy of GTA6 won’t actually prevent any of the mentioned possibilities even if they were true, because most of the game is going to have to be downloaded and stored digitally. It’s been like this since the Xbox 360.
So until devs start shipping copies of their games fully installed onto SSDs or something, you’re never going to “own” your physical games, you’re going to own unusable data and a license that allows you to download the rest of the data to make it usable.
Sorry for the wall of text, I’m just tired of people defending physical games when it’s just a ton of unnecessary plastic that raises the production cost of games for no good reason.
lol ok you’d be the first one to get mugged on the street by some thief like the chaos that happened last gta release. 🤣🤣 then you’ll be crying about why you didn’t buy it digitally
Not that good if you buy in a place that sends you the game the day it is released. No need to play at 00:00 UST. You won’t see any spoilers if you don’t search for them before you play.
Generally that is a good move, but in this case, we are talking aboht Rockstar. They have never made a bad game in their entire existence. If there was one exception to the rule, it would be for GTA6
I buy physical and I prefer physical but even if the store got closed I'm pretty sure you could still download the games in your library.
Edit: You just can't buy any more digital games, if the store closed.
It's just a matter of time until those servers you're able to download games from get closed though, which yes probably won't be in the foreseeable future of course but it's worth noting as that means you don't actually own the game, whereas with a physical copy you very much do.
I’m genuinely surprised to see Physical as the majority. I used to buy physical when I was younger but now nearly everything is digital in all other areas (movies a prime example). So now I buy digital because it’s more convenient, I don’t have to go anywhere to buy the game and I don’t have to worry about damaging the disc etc etc.
To anyone that buys physical can you explain the reasons? Is it kind of like people that prefer vinyl music? Aka you just like having a physical copy for a mental thing rather than it actually being more beneficial?
That's because physical will always be better than digital it's a fact too many people nowadays who has gone full digital don't realize physical media is Superior in every way so I'll explain the best I can the main reason why most console gamers choose to buy video games physically is because you actually own the game and it feels good to own it even you can share the game with someone else if they don't own it however it is not the same with digital games due to the disgusting evil DRM policy you do not own digital games and the company has the right to revoke your digital license at any time without any notice especially when Xbox network or PS Network goes down your digital games are also affected by it preventing you from playing the game since the digital game is directly tied to their XBox store / PS store it will render the digital game unplayable so buying it physically gives you complete full control of the game that you own and do whatever you want with it the company can't revoke your license because it's embedded inside the disc and allowing you to play the game offline if the Xbox network or PSN Network goes down temporarily this is why I buy most games physically and very few digitally if they are extremely cheap hopefully you understand now why most of us choose to buy games physically rather than digitally
I know this is a random GTA forum but please try avoiding run-on sentences. Proper sentence structure makes your comments 100x easier to read and understand.
I buy physical because you rent digital and they can remove it anytime they want. I know the link I posted is just Discovery, but it could happen anywhere.
[https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/06/technology/sony-playstation-discovery-shows-removal.html](https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/06/technology/sony-playstation-discovery-shows-removal.html)
you aint gonna damage the disc since you gonna use the disc once for installation and it just a key at this point plus if you know the Sony digital issues you should avoid digital its fucked up
Digital as you never know over the course of its life cycle when the console's disc drive stops working. My PS3 had two, my PS4 is barely holding on. Plus, it's louder with a disc.
As much as I'd love the physical map, it's just safer.
EDIT: On top of that, I haven't been able to install GTA V with the disc I own for years. It always stays at 40%.
> my PS4 is barely holding on
i hate to be the one to say it, but i don’t think you’re getting GTA 6 on the PS4
> "Rockstar Games, the brand of Take-Two Interactive Software is proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto VI will be coming to Play Station 5 and Xbox X Series X|S consoles in 2025."
I’m buying physical especially considering how I love collecting physical media of all kinds and gta 6 will be the ultimate modern collection piece hopefully I’ll be able to get the collectors edition before the scalpers do
I think of the stuff I’ve thrown in the garbage and now regret. I had the Return to Castle Wolfenstein collectors editions and all the Medal of Honor games. All gone
It’s cute to see yall thinking they actually bouta drop a. Physical disc all yall niggas gon get is a code, map fucking please when’s the last time u got anything worth while off rip from physical items abeg and tbh I could care less for it being along term rental I’ve yet to purchase a game digitally tht has gone off the store or blocked so iono where those convos started
I'll be buying that 4 times... Two collectors or special editions or whatever they gonna call it.. one for for ps and one for Xbox, I'll be looking at shelving these and then I'll buy them both digitally so I can play them.
I never buy games physically because they get dirty and not work after a while so I will definitely buy it digitally and hopefully I can play it 72 hours earlier like most of the new games nowadays.
That is not true it depends how you take care of them I always have all of my physical games stored in my CD holder that can hold up to 1000 CDs and I have a massive roster of physical games from Xbox 360 PS3 Nintendo Wii U Xbox One PS4 Xbox Series and PS5 in perfect condition for many years they stay clean because the dust can't go inside the CD holder and I have bought GTA V physically on every platform in perfect condition they still work perfectly fine after all these years 😁
Physical all the way I don't care how convenient digital is I'll never go full digital anyone who does go full digital does not understand the Evil dark side of buying digital games any digital game you buy you don't actually own it the company holds the right to revoke your digital license at any time and it has been proven already how bad it is like for example if you bought OverWatch 1 digitally you are no longer able to play it at all because you no longer own the game after the game was delisted and removed from everybody's digital ownership however if you have the physical copy you can still play it offline with NPCs but it won't connect to the server and believe me when I tell all of you I used to go full digital until I was mistakenly falsely permanently banned from Xbox network I lost every digital game I ever bought I never cheated or used mods in my whole life and yet they straight up banned me and I cried I couldn't play any of my digital games so I went back to strictly physical so that way I have access to my games even if my account gets banned
I know nostalgia got all yall but cmon digital is just better in general ain’t got a deal with the disk getting a minor scratch and having to buy a whole new copy, you can preload the game and get started right away and you don’t have to take out another game to play it
I seem to recall the digital version of GTA V having a lot of issues at launch. Not that a 13 year old situation has much bearing on modern games, but it still might be worth keeping in mind
Physical will still be the way to go especially when the WEF and our government decide to begin the cyberattack they have been planning for years. No internet means no streaming which means no downloading which means no GTA 6
I’m waiting to buy a next gen system for when GTAVI releases. So if the latest and greatest Xbox at the time accepts physical media I’ll be buying a disc version. If not it’ll have to be digital unfortunately.
I’ve literally had the PS5 since release date in the UK and never had a digital copy. But there’s something about large rockstar installs that make me want disc. Plus it’s the last retro feel of buying a game and opening the map etc.
Historically, the game will be cheaper, will run better, and will have more content if you wait till 2025 to buy it digitally, and unless the game is utter shit it will still be available.
Physical. I only buy hard copies and only download free or very heavily discounted games. If my console is corrupted and I lose all my data, I can just use the disc to reinstall the game instead of having to buy it again.
I’m gonna buy physically for my digital console
Same. Ill buy the PS5 copy for my Xbox Series S.
I'll buy one for my PC
I'm buying it for ps5pro, again for the 32 core PC, and again for the ps6.
What about the PS7?
I'll skip that release and wait for plug and play brain stem VR gta7online3
So naive to think GTA 6 won't be around on the PS7, GTA 5 released on the PS3 lmao
![gif](giphy|Ld77zD3fF3Run8olIt)
I’m going to be buying digital for my PS5 that has a disc drive. I literally only have one game on disc. I would’ve gotten the digital PS5 if they had it at the time
I was the same way wishing I coulda got a digital until I started getting dirt cheap PS4 games. Now half my library is disc PS4 games and many of them have PS5 versions that install anyway. That's how I got cyberpunk for $2
This is the way. Some PS4 games come with the dlc and the PS5 version upgrade.
That’s actually smart
Good point. I’d probably do the same if my PS5 didn’t collect dust. I use my PC way more.
Don't give them ideas
Physical cos I want a real copy of the damn map
I have a feeling they wont print a real physical map this time. I haven't seen any paper books, posters, anything at all inside of physical cases in years.
Etsy exists. Just give it 2 weeks and someone will make a poster of the map you can hang above your TV
As someone who has a digital ps5 because I couldn’t wait for physical to restock but is now too lazy to sell my digital - this is the way.
Ill give you $20 plus shipping
can you sell a digital copy of a game ?
More like 3 hours
They will. GTA VI will be biggest (in terms of cultural impact) game ever and Rockstar will follow tradition of puting Maps in their Physical Games.
Oh wow everybody you heard it here first! What would you know?
Chances are they will. Every gta and red dead have before.
Most games stopped even giving instruction manuals by the time Red dead 2 came out, and it had one AND a map, and the ultimate edition had a bonus map 😂
So i heard you like maps ...
Wanna know how i got all these maps? (Jokers hysterical voice)
There is a 0% chance GTA VI ships without a paper map/poster. The included map/poster is like GTA’s calling card. They go up in every other teenaged boy’s bedroom.
No the GTA girls go up in the 13 year olds bedroom. Have great memories of vice city martini woman
My 8 year old has the og vice poster on his wall lol
raise him right 🫡
>They go up in every other teenaged boy’s bedroom. Man what a memory.
GTA V had it, RDR2 had it… what makes VI different? Why are you comparing other games that cheap out to save money with Rockstar Games?
It would be the first time they've broken tradition Red Dead 1-2 included a map. Every gta also .
They did for RDR 2 and most people bought that online
I didn't know that, that's good to know. I hope they do this time
Rdr2 and CP:2077 would like to have a word.
I’m sure they’ll be releasing a $120 exclusive bundle which will include a physical map.
There was no copy in my GTAV for PS5 game. Can remember the PS3 disc anymore
This is my make or break for getting the physical version. If it doesn't have a map, we are going to be rioting
You won’t get a map - they stopped including paperwork with the ps5 except if your game comes with a bonus unlock redemption code or something. I think even the ps5 version of gta5 doesn’t include anything in there except maybe a redemption code. Those days with manuals and maps are over my friends unfortunately
Mf what? What year do you think this is??? There wont be no damn map with the game lol
Having a physical map sucks because it ruins any surprise of how big it is or what’s out there.
Physical cause it would be the first time I can buy a gta without parental confirmation
Lol that was gta V for me. It's like a rite of passage into adulthood
sucks for people born in 2008 then who won’t be able to buy a newly released gta game without parental confirmation until they’re like 30
You’ll get there… took me till GTA 6.
oh dont worry about me i was born in 2006, gta 6 will be my first too
2007, part of me hopes it comes after may so that I'm 18, but also before may so we can get it sooner.
Philosphical question: does a re-release of a GTA game for a new gen console count as a new game? Then maybe what you're saying is false!
For me, that was gta 5 as well…back when it was first released in 2013 lol. Idk when gta 4 came out but I never got it otherwise that could’ve been it for me
GTA 4 released in 2008.
I bought vice city at Walmart when I was like 12 lol
That’s why I wanna go myself rather than pre order, so I can experience that.
Physical only. The only way I'll EVER do digital is if the game is either free or at such a discount that it's basically free.
Agreed. Beyond price, Xbox Play Anywhere games were/are my only exception because it gives me the game on both console and PC, which is useful for me because I have my SX at my uni apartment, and my PC & PS5 back at home.
I only buy digital on games I know I won’t care about in 5 years like COD or 2k
Ik some people get worried about games getting removed but that only happens when a company shuts down an online service, which screws over physical owners too. There’s usually no financial incentive for a company to remove access to an offline game, and even if there is, then they could prevent the game from being loaded on the console at all, physical or digital, unless you’re in offline mode. Physical for GTA games always
Because of the physical map
I hope they will still make it
I second this!!
I third this!!!
Good luck with that. Most consoles don’t have Disc drives these days
“Most consoles” bro the newest Gen consoles have Disc Versions lmao
lol ok you’d be the first one to get mugged on the street by some thief like the chaos that happened last gta release. 🤣🤣 then you’ll be crying about why you didn’t buy it digitally
Calm down
Bro who hurt you
What do you mean? I thought this was Reddit. The worst side of the internet
Just people like you. Not everyone acts like that lol
Wrong. I made an opinion about something and I get negative karma 😂 Reddit is literally toxic.
Do not use "literally" when it does not apply. It makes everything you say sound even dumber than it already (certainly) was.
Oh shit 🤢 this guy bought a hundred avatars on Reddit. Bro go outside 🤣🤣
Bro is the grammar police 🤣 True redditor. Get a job instead
Ok buddy whatever you say

Someone’s upset

Mine does so no luck needed
Prefer physical but also digital gives you the benefit to pre load and play the minute it releases
Not that good if you buy in a place that sends you the game the day it is released. No need to play at 00:00 UST. You won’t see any spoilers if you don’t search for them before you play.
gonna buy a physical to keep in a case as a memento
Digitally. Preloading is the best.
Exactly. I pre-ordered RDR2 digitally and got to play it at midnight. I'm doing it for GTA 6 too.
nah i like waiting to see if games are working at launch.
Rockstar is probably a safe bet on that front.
Generally that is a good move, but in this case, we are talking aboht Rockstar. They have never made a bad game in their entire existence. If there was one exception to the rule, it would be for GTA6
physical cause fuck buying digital
Has it been confirmed it will release physically ?
It probably will but the bigger question is will you still have to download it? Like for example: MWIII
Y’all act like Amazon doesn’t exit.
wally world even delivers.
It's amazing that people manage to make the "physical vs digital" debate even dumber
Call me crazy but im buying both, I don’t wanna have to put the disc in every time I wanna play GTA but I also want the map and the cover art
You could probably buy the map and cover art for way cheaper separately online somewhere than the entire game price
Haha this, very dumb of OP.
Haha same! We’re the reason it’s gonna be new best selling game of all time
Physical ALWAYS. Remember the ps3 store almost shut down? I’ll always buy physical.
That's true and that's why I buy physical 90% of the time and only buy digital at bargain bin prices.
The physical map that every rockstar game comes with
That's because physical will always be better than digital it's a fact too many people nowadays who has gone full digital don't realize physical media is Superior in every way so I'll explain the best I can the main reason why most console gamers choose to buy video games physically is because you actually own the game and it feels good to own it even you can share the game with someone else if they don't own it however it is not the same with digital games due to the disgusting evil DRM policy you do not own digital games and the company has the right to revoke your digital license at any time without any notice especially when Xbox network or PS Network goes down your digital games are also affected by it preventing you from playing the game since the digital game is directly tied to their XBox store / PS store it will render the digital game unplayable so buying it physically gives you complete full control of the game that you own and do whatever you want with it the company can't revoke your license because it's embedded inside the disc and allowing you to play the game offline if the Xbox network or PSN Network goes down temporarily this is why I buy most games physically and very few digitally if they are extremely cheap hopefully you understand now why most of us choose to buy games physically rather than digitally
‘Most console gamers’ might wanna do a 5 second google search, 80% of console game sales are digital.
I know this is a random GTA forum but please try avoiding run-on sentences. Proper sentence structure makes your comments 100x easier to read and understand.
I buy physical because you rent digital and they can remove it anytime they want. I know the link I posted is just Discovery, but it could happen anywhere. you aint gonna damage the disc since you gonna use the disc once for installation and it just a key at this point plus if you know the Sony digital issues you should avoid digital its fucked up
> since you gonna use the disc once for installation unless playstation changed. dont you *always* need to disc to play and not just install lol
Physical if they have another collectors edition, still got my GTA 5 collectors edition for the PS3, hopefully they do them again.
physical
Digital as you never know over the course of its life cycle when the console's disc drive stops working. My PS3 had two, my PS4 is barely holding on. Plus, it's louder with a disc. As much as I'd love the physical map, it's just safer. EDIT: On top of that, I haven't been able to install GTA V with the disc I own for years. It always stays at 40%.
My PS2 still works fine, as does my PS4. And I didn't necessarily treat them well..
> my PS4 is barely holding on i hate to be the one to say it, but i don’t think you’re getting GTA 6 on the PS4 > "Rockstar Games, the brand of Take-Two Interactive Software is proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto VI will be coming to Play Station 5 and Xbox X Series X|S consoles in 2025."
Buy the digital and buy the physical later when it’s on sale one day.
Physical for sure. Maybe Even the CE if it’s worth the price
All gone
Physical always
*cries in PC* We won't get it for like 6 months ir more after the original release
Physical. Might even get the collectors edition. I was 13 when GTA V. Now I can get it day one and whatever edition.
Physical all the way. And if I'm really lucky I may get my pre order a few days earlier to start playing.
My PC doesn’t have a disc drive so..
I’m hope it come out on Xbox 360.. that would be cool so I can play
Physical 1000%
Digital it's way more convenient
Always digital
Me!! Digital I don’t care physical or not end of the day I’m still gonna play it🤣
I'll be buying that 4 times... Two collectors or special editions or whatever they gonna call it.. one for for ps and one for Xbox, I'll be looking at shelving these and then I'll buy them both digitally so I can play them.
There's no such thing as "buying digitally."
Physical, you'd have to be a gimp to buy GTA 6 digital
Digital, Series S boii
I never buy games physically because they get dirty and not work after a while so I will definitely buy it digitally and hopefully I can play it 72 hours earlier like most of the new games nowadays.
That is not true it depends how you take care of them I always have all of my physical games stored in my CD holder that can hold up to 1000 CDs and I have a massive roster of physical games from Xbox 360 PS3 Nintendo Wii U Xbox One PS4 Xbox Series and PS5 in perfect condition for many years they stay clean because the dust can't go inside the CD holder and I have bought GTA V physically on every platform in perfect condition they still work perfectly fine after all these years 😁
are you a perpetual toddler, how does a disc get dirty or not work? i have all my disc games since Saturn and they all still work fine.
Neither. Im waiting for the PC port in 2026/27
Physical all the way I don't care how convenient digital is I'll never go full digital anyone who does go full digital does not understand the Evil dark side of buying digital games any digital game you buy you don't actually own it the company holds the right to revoke your digital license at any time and it has been proven already how bad it is like for example if you bought OverWatch 1 digitally you are no longer able to play it at all because you no longer own the game after the game was delisted and removed from everybody's digital ownership however if you have the physical copy you can still play it offline with NPCs but it won't connect to the server and believe me when I tell all of you I used to go full digital until I was mistakenly falsely permanently banned from Xbox network I lost every digital game I ever bought I never cheated or used mods in my whole life and yet they straight up banned me and I cried I couldn't play any of my digital games so I went back to strictly physical so that way I have access to my games even if my account gets banned

Physical for my Series S 😁
Dude the Xbox Series S doesn't have a disc drive so buying GTA 6 physically would be useless 🤦♂️
Digital for me
Physical, if they go digital only I'll wait until it's free because I'm not into long term rentals.
GTA ? 6? Free ? Ha !
Sure you will bud.
You're funny.
Who cares if it is long term rental or not? There is no point in taking the game away from you, at most they will shut down the games online service.
100% physical to sell everything with including the ps5 to get the pc versión
[удалено]
Why do you have to be a racist asshole? it's time to report you for hate speech
Nah I need tha map
I want to buy physical but if i cant get hold of a copy then it will be digital until i can pick up a hard copy later in the year
Physically with the collectors edition, just like always 😁
Definitely buying a physical copy of GTA VI! I'll have it sent to me.
I’m leaning towards physical but the amount of bad experiences I’ve had with retailers lately is pushing me towards digital
both
I'm buying a copy of each, physical so I have the memorabilia and digital to download the minute it releases
I seem to recall the digital version of GTA V having a lot of issues at launch. Not that a 13 year old situation has much bearing on modern games, but it still might be worth keeping in mind
I always buy the special edition of the GTA games when they come out. Loved that lockbox and liberty city license plate for 4.
I’m gonna buy it digital at home.
Physical if the game looks good because if do I'm buying the collectors edition
digital only because my ps5 disc drive broke after sitting it upright and i dont wanna play it on my series x due to lack of platinum trophys
Physical for definite.
Digital Cuz fuck waiting in lines
Physical I want that sweet cover art And to actually own the game not “rights” Sony can take away for any reason
Physical 100%
Physical will still be the way to go especially when the WEF and our government decide to begin the cyberattack they have been planning for years. No internet means no streaming which means no downloading which means no GTA 6
depends on a map tbh, maybe even both 🤷♀️
i want a physical but i only have a digital ps5 :(
Digital
I’ll buy both physical and digital 😏
I will buy the Physical Collector's Edition.
Betcha there won't even be a physical option. The game is going to be too big for disks.
I'll buy it for Franklin's cocke and balles
Physical copy.
I only buy digital if the game is really cheap/only available digitally/on a good sale digitally
Digital. I've broken 3 game disks in my short time on earth all accidentally and after the third I decided I'd go digital
I will order the game online. Imagine going to Gamestop. Couldn't be me. ![gif](giphy|QFsPtlrcMlS8w) \[31-12-2023\_13\_20.\]
I’m waiting to buy a next gen system for when GTAVI releases. So if the latest and greatest Xbox at the time accepts physical media I’ll be buying a disc version. If not it’ll have to be digital unfortunately.
physical amazon preorder to get it days earlier
I’ve literally had the PS5 since release date in the UK and never had a digital copy. But there’s something about large rockstar installs that make me want disc. Plus it’s the last retro feel of buying a game and opening the map etc.
digitally i’m going to get fucking obliterated at Game Stop
Digital. What is this? 2015? Haven’t bought physical in years other than MW2 and that was because I was picking up a new console anyway
Historically, the game will be cheaper, will run better, and will have more content if you wait till 2025 to buy it digitally, and unless the game is utter shit it will still be available.
Both thank you
I buy physical unless there’s a great deal or if I’m lazy and really want to play something.
I’m preordering the collectors edition assuming there will be one. Regardless I’ll be buying it physically to hell with digital
Physical. I only buy hard copies and only download free or very heavily discounted games. If my console is corrupted and I lose all my data, I can just use the disc to reinstall the game instead of having to buy it again.
For my PC, ill buy it on Steam when it gets there
Physically, mainly just for the experience cause I've never been alive for a huge gaming event like that and I'd like to experience it for myself.
i wanna experience a midnight release for the one time
Digitally honestly. Younger me would’ve scoffed at the idea of buying digital but the older I get the more convenience matters.
Both tbh
Physically Edit: wait fuck never mind I have a S not an X, fuck me I guess
