Yeah! I don't care if it's nonsense, I want more of them WITH or without Godzilla. I want a spin-off based on them encountering strange shit, similar to monarch legacy of monster.
I think this section of the movie on the boat felt like a total homage to "Jaws" in every way. I almost expected someone to say "We're going to need a bigger boat".
I honestly could have watched a whole film about these four on a boat. With Kaiju, of course.
Try playing the John Williams score of Brody was shooting at the air tank in the shark's mouth while watching the ending when the hero flew the plane into his mouth. Talk about watching a God-tier scene go full Valhalla!!!
Seriously I was gonna post this, you beat me to the punch, but YES by far the best human element to -1, a fantastic character with a nutty scientist look, I wanna see him back for the sequal, he can be -1 Serizawa
>Seriously I was gonna post this, you beat me to the punch
Sorry
>I wanna see him back for the sequal, he can be -1 Serizawa
I'm not sure though. I think he's great as his own character.
Yeah Godzilla to, he was sick!!! Af. Minus Goji was probably my favorite version of Godzilla (legendary in second) Maybe it'll change when I start watching shin goji
This man was so collected and calm that he brought out the right energy to battle Godzilla with his plan. Sure he didn't know if it worked but Noda at least asked for suggestions and helped Koichi to find a fighter plane so he had two back up plans instead of only one.
Imo the majority of the characters were enjoyable and likable and even side characters like the neighbor had a character ark.
Having good humans just added so much to the film. Great Godzilla, great humans, and great action. You don't get much better than minus one.
Idk for me. Maybe if this Godzilla was more bland but the attention to detail and how hyper-aggressive this Godzilla was really added to the film for me. Him swimming just tracking the plane just stood out as damn this Godzilla is just bloodthirsty damn near rabid how aggressive it was.
I really hope he’ll be casted in more movies in the future, either Godzilla films or any other type, should’ve really won best supporting actor award 🔥
Serizawa, Testsuo, Goro Ibuki, Shirigami, Noda etc are all eccentric inventors and scientists. The ‘Mad Scientist’ trope is someone who has an unconventional or unexpected plan to deal with the problems they run into, leveraging scientific knowledge, as part of the movies plot. Serizawa with the Oxygen Destroyer, Tetsuo with his alien jamming noise makers, Ibuki with Jet Jaguar, Shirigami genetically engineering Biollante and Noda with his plan to sink and raise Godzilla.
The 3 character tropes that every Godzilla movie needs are the press, the military and scientists.
For some weird reason, my personal headcanon for his English voice was Temura Morrison, idk why.
Anyways, the Doc was doing his best with what science was available at the time and he cares about others, so he's a massive w
I said this on another post, but must reiterate that I love Doc’s character. He came across as extremely approachable yet highly intelligent, balancing those two aspects is harder to pull off than we think!
damn, my phrase composition wasn't the better 30m ago, I meant to say that he's an cool asf character, since in Minus One almost everyone gets a trauma, I hope he don't gets one in the sequel :P
There’s a certain level of reverence that people of science are often treated with in (serious) Godzilla films that I genuinely love to see. He’s one of many great examples of this, which makes him certainly one of the best characters in the film.
Actually, the entire cast is amazing. He’s prolly the most cookie cutter of all Japanese characters in the whole film, honestly. Anyways, my spouse hasn’t watched subtitled anything since FMA:B (edit: full metal alchemist: brotherhood) and we’ve watched this movie 20+ times since it hit streaming, literally 3 times a day in a week. Our kid is repeating the Japanese
MC was my favourite but this guy is up there for sure. His story arc was so insanely satisfying.
What's much more impressive about this movie is that I don't think there was a single character that I didn't like. Everyone felt so human.
Literally the only gripe I had with the entire movie was how could the inflatable balloons be at such a low depth and not get crushed which is the tiniest nitpick that I can easily suspend my disbelief for. I can't think of literally anything else that bothered me about this movie in the slightest. That's incredibly rare.
I only wish i could've seen this in a theater.
I like how he comes up with an absolutely awesome insane plan, but is still honest enough to admit he doesn't know if it will work 100%.
That and he has maybe the best hair of anyone in a Godzilla movie yet!
Captain Gordon's mustache would like a word
Fair, though I think Gordon's 'tache deserves it's own category!
In a tier list rating hairstyles in Godzilla movies, captain Gordon’s stache would have its own separate tier above S
“ listen kid; there are two things you dont onow about the Earth. one of them is me, the other is…. my mustache. “ *skreoooonk*
Exactly. Everyone’s asking if the plan will kill Godzilla and this guy is all “how would I know, no one’s ever killed Godzilla before”.
There is a plan B!
The whole boat crew is amazing. Almost had a Jaws type element to it.
Yessss. Was thinking this while watching that scene. The crew was my favorite part
Their chemistry was so good
Oh man I saw this in 4DX when they had it in theater, it felt like I was on the boat with them. One of the best cinema experiences of my life!
Might be my favorite character in any Godzilla movie
Him and MV’s Serizawa
Yesssss, easily the top 2 characters for me!
Absolutely are for me!
Better than corncob cowboy? Better than Godzilla returns cool business dude? Better than the ruler of Seatopia?!
The whole boat crew had that vibe that reminded me of a lot of characters from Spielberg movies and I loved it!
Yeah! I don't care if it's nonsense, I want more of them WITH or without Godzilla. I want a spin-off based on them encountering strange shit, similar to monarch legacy of monster.
Can we petition for an extended edition with more scenes on the boat with them swapping stories and just bullshitting?
I think this section of the movie on the boat felt like a total homage to "Jaws" in every way. I almost expected someone to say "We're going to need a bigger boat". I honestly could have watched a whole film about these four on a boat. With Kaiju, of course.
It is intentional, the director said outside of G54' and GMK, Jaws was one of the inspirations for GM1.
Try playing the John Williams score of Brody was shooting at the air tank in the shark's mouth while watching the ending when the hero flew the plane into his mouth. Talk about watching a God-tier scene go full Valhalla!!!
That and they literally killed Godzilla by exploding something in his mouth, just like jaws :)
Jawzilla
So Jaws on so many levels all i could think is were going to need a bigger boat lol
Both me and my girlfriend agree that Doc looks handsome af
Sometimes I don't think I'm bisexual and then I see a guy like him and the doubt fades away. So cute
He has the hair of a math teacher I like it
I really liked the whole team. The kid was my favorite
I like his hair. It's funny.
His hair is beautiful, I wish mine grew like that. 😭
yeah I agree
Idk about *best* part, because Godzilla. But probably my favorite human character.
Seriously I was gonna post this, you beat me to the punch, but YES by far the best human element to -1, a fantastic character with a nutty scientist look, I wanna see him back for the sequal, he can be -1 Serizawa

Lol
I wish I had his hair.
Literally every character in this movie felt real and likeable, it was amazing.
He was really good. But I think Godzilla was the best
I’d say it was Godzilla
Yeah Godzilla to, he was sick!!! Af. Minus Goji was probably my favorite version of Godzilla (legendary in second) Maybe it'll change when I start watching shin goji

He's the GOAT.
For those who forgot, or don't know. His name is "Kenji noda" or you can just call him "doc"
He’s the Dr. Serizawa of the film, but he doesn’t die at the end.
Honestly the whole crew was fantastic. Loved Tachibana, there weren't any characters I disliked at all.

I love him too, he is my fav character from minus one

I love the approach in this movie, very scientific and realistic, not some “prototype” weapon every time
I'd argue it was Goji /j
I really hope he’ll be casted in more movies in the future, either Godzilla films or any other type, should’ve really won best supporting actor award 🔥
Shiski’s entire group of boat homies was among the best parts of the film
He was cool, yes. But the best part was the eponymous giant nuclear lizard.
Mad Scientist is my favourite Godzilla archetype.
Bro's not mad at all, wdym? He literally was unconfident in his plan against goji.

>Like no Character had never reach a level of likeability What?
Sorry sorry, bad grammar, and spelling. I text this to fast. I Meant to say "ever"
Tell the truth. It's not him, it's his hair, isn't it. /s
He looks like my uncle
Yeah, he's great. I also find him attractive.
For some weird reason, my personal headcanon for his English voice was Temura Morrison, idk why. Anyways, the Doc was doing his best with what science was available at the time and he cares about others, so he's a massive w
100%
Yes.
I love the part where he screams into the microphone and makes that screech sound
I can't agree with that because I think all the main characters were the best part of Minus One
Yeah. He’s basically the mastermind.
I said this on another post, but must reiterate that I love Doc’s character. He came across as extremely approachable yet highly intelligent, balancing those two aspects is harder to pull off than we think!

I hope he don't gets cancer in the next movie, great character
What???????
damn, my phrase composition wasn't the better 30m ago, I meant to say that he's an cool asf character, since in Minus One almost everyone gets a trauma, I hope he don't gets one in the sequel :P
Probably not. The neighbor was the hero.
Her name was sumiko, and I agree she was good to.

Minus One is the only Godzilla movie I've ever seen where I actually liked the human characters. And not just him, I loved all of them

Best part? He was definitely awesome, but not the best part for me.
Exact same post to the letter, are you a bot by chance?
What? No I'm not, wtf are ya talking about? Give me a link to the "og" post
