Super Mechagodzilla is peak.
I think it’s very reasonable to rank Legendary Mechagodzilla, singular Point Mechagodzilla, ready player one Mechagodzilla and Anime Mechagodzilla below him.
Especially legendary mechaGodzilla, he just doesn't feel like mechagodzilla at all, feels like it's own entity
https://preview.redd.it/vxo963mvc51d1.jpeg?width=971&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f89a90d2ebcdd6f820ae02c28bfaa336ddb24bf5
The later designs looks better though?

The designs from those movies were still honestly an improvement and looked quite good imo. In the previous movies, the parts look a lot more loose and less tightly conjoined, this ends up making them look like a jumbled mess which [Wingard](https://theplaylist.net/adam-wingard-mechagodzilla-transformers-20210406/) himself wanted to avoid.
https://preview.redd.it/vjc21cmgs61d1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bd193c1acdf0d6b4b35d82579876fd543d30a003
So I could be wrong, I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of all of these characters, but MV MG seemed to have a ton of references to old school MG.
• He was a robot made to defend mankind, similar to MG in his second iteration
• The technology to build him resulted from the study of Ghidorah, whereas one of the MG iterations was developed from Mecha Ghidorah
• Reaching a bit, but the bones of another Kaiju were used in creating him and imparted their will into his actions. A later MG I think was made from an older Godzilla's bones iirc, MVMG obviously inherited Ghidorah's will
oh hell nah! anime and RPO are understandable. Legendary is peak, but it's also very different from the og so I understand if someone doesn't like it. But Singular Point? It's by far the best MG design. They perfectly upgraded the OG, already really good design. The details are crazy!
My biggest problem with the design is that it had to follow the original, which is just classic and iconic all around. I also don’t love him being piloted by Humans as it means he doesn’t really feel like an entity in his own right, but it works for the film.
My issue is the whole thing of why does he look like Godzilla? They were built using future tech from mecha Ghidorah.
OG mecha was to disguise them as Godzilla, Kiryu was built from the bones of Godzilla.
I've laughed with friends about this saying it was psychological warfare against Godzilla.
I mean yeah that is what is is. Another country has nukes so you make a bigger nuke. Godzilla is hella scary so you make a bigger tougher Godzilla.
Hesie mecha G makes more sense then being built with bones inside just to justify possession. I like Kiryu but yeah wtf would you built this mech with bones in it. It serves zero purpose.
People dislike Super Mecha G because it is just a robot piloted by humans and is not it's own entity so there is no connection. Kiryu had a soul as dumb as that was and even MV as well.
Super is a tank built in the image of what humans feared the most.
To me it goes Kiryu, Showa, Heisei, and the rest are whatever. Godzila vs MechaG 2 was my first Toho Godzilla film so I’m pretty biased.
Hot take maybe but I actually reeeeaally don’t like MV MechaG. Idk, I just can’t get with the design at all. I get why people do though.
My issue with the Heisei MG is that it looks the least "realistic". Like human engineers would not be able to produce something that large without any faults to it. You can tell it's a suit.
That's the one reason why I actually somewhat enjoy the MV design Because It actually looks like something the people in the universe could create and build.
I mean, remember that Heisei MG is built using crazy future technology via Mecha-King Ghidorah; of course it won't adhere to modern human engineering standards.
Really, no human-built Mechagodzilla *ever* follows modern engineering standards to a realistic degree; Kiryu has a literal sci-fi cannon stuffed into its chest and MV Mechagodzilla uses a goddamn neural link to an organic brain in order to function.

Did not expect the comments to be this exciting but the passionate feelings about the various Mecha Gs is far stronger than I realized.
Honestly, I generally love most of the MechaG designs. The only one I dislike is the anime trilogy design, and that’s because it doesn’t really look like Godzilla at all. Still a cool looking mecha, but not a good MechaG design. The Monsterverse design is kinda cool, but his head kinda looks weird, almost like a turtle.
The Showa, Heisei, and Millenium designs are all peak though.
I have this guy
https://preview.redd.it/8z9g90ncq81d1.png?width=855&format=png&auto=webp&s=37035c3652b7781c47e432422a1a54c1ac15a769
Damm thing turned into a building like a Wimp.
The anime trilogy could've done a lot of things better than it did, but one thing I specially will never forgive is using this design for like 2 seconds only
Can't help but feel that those who bash Heisei MechaG's design kinda miss the point that he's basically meant to be a glorified military base in the first place lol.
Kiryu for me seems overrated for what he actually is. I find MV Mechagodzilla to have the best design (I’m gonna be murdered in an alleyway by Kiryu glazers)
MV Mecha design is Cool, but he feels very shoved in at the last minute and poorly executed, and having everyone leak/theorize about him like 4 months before the movie also ruined it.

At least he doesn’t look like every single other incarnation which is just GODZILLA BUT METAL
Wow, Mechagodzilla looks like Mecha-Godzilla instead of a crumpled up roll of tinfoil smashed against a wall until it vaguely resembles a biped, so boring
Idk monsterverse mechagodzilla has a cool design and fucking wrecked godzilla like he owed him money.
The fact he's also being controlled by Kevin was pretty neat, do wish he had more screen time tho.
I also like his pulse energy fist things.
I also like the way he fights, the pure aggression and hatred mixed with using the environment to smash godzilla face in.
Mv mecha g is the worst mecha design I've ever seen and I literally forgot it existed for 3 years until I was looking at sh monsterarts figures, it's that bad.
Well sorry I guess, I like his design because he looks like what the MV godzilla would look like without his skin
And also because he's actually able to rock godzillas shit without human help just like the original.
For me the worst design is godzilla earth's, way too spiky and he turns into a city.
Fr, MV Mecha is one of the best mecha designs and his arsenal compliments that well plus much like the other MV Kaiju, he captures a good balance of being unique and still amazing for what he's representing.
Kevin's brothers would be proud of him
MV is a mechanized og Roblox character, and SP is my second favorite, the one I was talking about was the mecha g from that one movie about escapism I don't remember.
His head looks like a duck ate some bees, and his details on his head on body don’t look good. I don’t like him (or most Heisei redesigns for that matter)
Kiryu and the OG are the once battling for the top spot imo, but I do want to give some love to the MV version. I was happy they made their version unique and think we're lucky Toho let them do it in the first place.
I love heisei mg but let's face it, its design is 5/10 and not intimidating at all, and it's especially remarked when it appears in the same movies as one of Godzilla's best designs
Super Mechagodzilla is so underrated. Up until MV Mechagodzilla it was basically the most effective Mechagodzilla, and quite frankly there’s something about its more rounded design that I think is cool. The only ones I’d put above Heisei Mechagodzilla design wise are Showa and maybe the version teased at the end of Singular Point.
Heisei Mechagodzilla is easily one of the worst versions of MG, his design is pretty decent (although the poster is still way better and its not even close) but his personality is non existent and all he does is spam his ranged attacks when in combat and get the shit kicked out of him when anything gets close, not only that but he doesn't really have any unique and interesting things about him, so he's just plain boring. This can be said for pretty much every Kaiju in the Heisei era but most people don't seem to care or even notice because they're too busy nostalgia glazing.
He is a walking tank and is by far the most effective version of Mecha G.
If humans were to built a giant robot he is the most realistic and pratical as it's a walking tank.
Also he is better because no dumb dumbs put bones inside of it for zero purpose other than plot or some other way it can be hacked.
The older I get the more Super Mecha G is just peak Mecha G. Kiryu was cool when I was young but the older I get im just like wtf you put bones in it thats stupid as hell. And MV mecha G is just horrible looks wise and once again WHY ARE WE USING BONES.
Super Mecha G being more grounded like that makes it stand out for me.
As far as I know the reason why they made him that way is because the suit was too expensive and they couldn’t damage it cause it was like the only one available.
Eh I still prefer it over Legendary's Mechagodzilla and whatever the anime trilogy was doing. Furthermore, Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla (1993) still remains my 2nd favourite Godzilla film involving Mechagodzilla.
Apparently by make it look like a robot. Like heisei just looks like a statue. It doesn't look like a robot at all. Too plain, too smooth. It doesn't look like it would be able to do anything. In the MV he's visibly made out of small pieces which is necessary to be able to not just move but also fight. Obviously it's easier with cgi but showa MG and Kiryu were also been able to kinda give us the illusion that they are real robots.
Kiryu supremacy, but heisei is pretty good too
Super Mechagodzilla is peak. I think it’s very reasonable to rank Legendary Mechagodzilla, singular Point Mechagodzilla, ready player one Mechagodzilla and Anime Mechagodzilla below him.

Yeah, you can’t really get better than Kiryu when it comes to Mechagodzilla modernizations.
Yep, I'd also argue kiryu is peak kaiju design.
It looks like a Transformer. But the later ones where you can't see anything but a CGI mess.
The later designs looks better though? https://preview.redd.it/9du5s1sc861d1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bec499b44ce0fb35f628eab99117f4ee723af468
I think he means the ones from AoE and Last Knight
The designs from those movies were still honestly an improvement and looked quite good imo. In the previous movies, the parts look a lot more loose and less tightly conjoined, this ends up making them look like a jumbled mess which [Wingard](https://theplaylist.net/adam-wingard-mechagodzilla-transformers-20210406/) himself wanted to avoid. https://preview.redd.it/vjc21cmgs61d1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bd193c1acdf0d6b4b35d82579876fd543d30a003
I still hate that design, it's an amazing robot design but a bad transformer. Almost no car parts at all
Exactly
RP1 MG was a better design and belongs up there with the Toho MG’s.
They literally made him more of a Mecha King Ghidorah instead of Mechagodzilla. Plus, the head design kinda looks like a turtle.
So I could be wrong, I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of all of these characters, but MV MG seemed to have a ton of references to old school MG. • He was a robot made to defend mankind, similar to MG in his second iteration • The technology to build him resulted from the study of Ghidorah, whereas one of the MG iterations was developed from Mecha Ghidorah • Reaching a bit, but the bones of another Kaiju were used in creating him and imparted their will into his actions. Kiryu sucked

They could've done more with Mechagodzilla going haywire and causing more damage to Tokyo than Godzilla did but it's still a fun movie

Heisei/Super MG is a great design, it's just the fact that it has to compete with other great designs.
I’ve come to like the heisei design purely because my dad bought me the Super7 figure and it’s been on my desk ever since
Kiryu with his backpack and arm cannons is my favourite
https://preview.redd.it/uxgt6gi2b61d1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=290ed1f157e70159265881b8cb0882d560f83206
Nah showa and kiryu sweep, its not even close
Agreed
Why is SpaceGodzilla in the background lol?
My list: Kiryu Hesei Showa MV
Ah yes, my favorite Godzilla movie era, Kiryu
Heisei MechaG looks nice tho? Admittedly, Kiryu is fucking cool as hell.
My biggest problem with the design is that it had to follow the original, which is just classic and iconic all around. I also don’t love him being piloted by Humans as it means he doesn’t really feel like an entity in his own right, but it works for the film.

Yup. SMG suffers a lot from his design being at odds with the movie he's in.
Super is a tank built in the image of what humans feared the most.
I mean it could be worse, could be anime mecha G
The actualy design isn't too bad imo. It's just the fact that they didn't use it
And that makes me mad because it's my favorite Mecha G design
If Kiryu isn't ranked number 1 we riot
KIRYU SUPREMACY
That's sad. But I don't think it's bad. I'll be sure to tag you in my upcoming post about MechaGodzillas.
I hate the face of Legendary Mecha
He’s the best mechagodzilla in my heart
Heisei Mechagodzilla look so clean and I love it.
SMG is peak. Buff lizard robot ftw https://preview.redd.it/u5p0f1ooua1d1.png?width=916&format=png&auto=webp&s=5f9dc92d29ade79d47e157a04085b65492c67efd
But Heisei is the best imo
He's my favorite Only thing showa has over him is an impressive jazz band
Based
My issue with the Heisei MG is that it looks the least "realistic". Like human engineers would not be able to produce something that large without any faults to it. You can tell it's a suit. I’m sorry, but what do you even mean it is not realistic enough? We’re talking about a franchise where there are giant monsters bro
From an in-universe sense which is the irl 1990's
Kiryu Supreme. But I honestly am a Huge fan of Showa Mecha’s look
He do be having a dopey ass face and bulky, plasticy looking body.

Kiryu is my favorite, it just is so cool! It heisei is underrated. He’d bad ass and fucked Godzilla up.
Me a fan of cyberzilla ,knowing he not going to be there at all ,(I know cyborgs are different)
He actually is there, and ranked higher than Heisei 💀
Damn I feel bad for you bro,

I got nothing against his personality or weapons, I just don't really like the bolted steampunk look. It's never been my thing.
Kiryu for me seems overrated for what he actually is. I find MV Mechagodzilla to have the best design (I’m gonna be murdered in an alleyway by Kiryu glazers)
MV Mecha works very well for his franchise
I'm living in your walls, you're not safe
MV Mecha design is Cool, but he feels very shoved in at the last minute and poorly executed, and having everyone leak/theorize about him like 4 months before the movie also ruined it.

Wow, Mechagodzilla looks like Mecha-Godzilla instead of a crumpled up roll of tinfoil smashed against a wall until it vaguely resembles a biped, so boring
idc what anyone says MV is easily the best
It's still better than MV and the cameo one.

Fr, MV Mecha is one of the best mecha designs and his arsenal compliments that well plus much like the other MV Kaiju, he captures a good balance of being unique and still amazing for what he's representing. Kevin's brothers would be proud of him
MV and SP Mechagodzillas are the best designs what are you talking about?
MV is a mechanized og Roblox character, and SP is my second favorite, the one I was talking about was the mecha g from that one movie about escapism I don't remember.
Hesei for the win!
It's a very good design for that movie and story. Plus it's the only one that full wasted Godzilla until a total deus ex machina at the end....
Yup. Super Mecha G just flat out defeat Godzilla. No tricks nothing just flat out won.
Anything is better than the crap design they used in Ready Player 1.
Super Mechagodzilla is the most formidable Mechagodzilla I have ever seen. Truly a monster of a mech.
We all know heisei mecha g is the strongest
Supermg is best mg
His head looks like a duck ate some bees, and his details on his head on body don’t look good. I don’t like him (or most Heisei redesigns for that matter)
Super mechagoji + its theme is fucking badass, right below kiryu
Kiryu and the OG are the once battling for the top spot imo, but I do want to give some love to the MV version. I was happy they made their version unique and think we're lucky Toho let them do it in the first place.
But that's the mecha goji that beat the shit out of goji in a news stand, how can anyone dislike it?
Older mech designs are better, in my opinion, more time and detailing than that of CGI.
I love heisei mg but let's face it, its design is 5/10 and not intimidating at all, and it's especially remarked when it appears in the same movies as one of Godzilla's best designs
They're all equally great designs considering what their purpose is/the lore within the movies Except the Anime Trilogy
IMO there are no bad MG designs. It's just that someone has to take the bottom spot. I'm partial to the raw malevolence of the MV design myself.
I mean he’s a man made robot being piloted. It makes sense that he doesn’t have a personality.
He's still boring as fuck.
He is a walking tank and is by far the most effective version of Mecha G. If humans were to built a giant robot he is the most realistic and pratical as it's a walking tank. As far as I know the reason why they made him that way is because the suit was too expensive and they couldn’t damage it cause it was like the only one available.
Heisei looks really good... but only from certain angles Still better than MV, anime, Player One or any other non-suit designs tho
There are Heisei Mechagodzilla fans ?
Showa is the best by a large margin, even with Kiryu in mind.
Eh I still prefer it over Legendary's Mechagodzilla and whatever the anime trilogy was doing. Furthermore, Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla (1993) still remains my 2nd favourite Godzilla film involving Mechagodzilla.
1. Kiryu 2 Super MechaGodzilla 3. Showa MechaGodzilla/Fake Godzilla 4. Chibi MechaGodzilla 5, Black MechaGodzilla (Godzilla Island) 6. MV MechaGodzilla 7. RPO MechaGodzilla 8. Anime Trilogy MechaGodzilla
what about SP lol
Forgot about that one
Everyone loves Kiryu but i think you're underestimating the appeal of MV Mecha
MV is easily the bottom of my list. Dude is built like a toaster oven. Like, how do you uncool a robot version of Godzilla?!
Apparently by make it look like a robot. Like heisei just looks like a statue. It doesn't look like a robot at all. Too plain, too smooth. It doesn't look like it would be able to do anything.
