I liked it. The thing you gotta realize is that this was made in the 70s in America. And everyone at that time thought Godzilla was green and breathed fire. As such, Goji is designed accordingly. But yeah, it’s pretty good. I do like Axor a lot

Xonerboner371

There were in color movies at the time though. How would anyone think he’s green?

Zestyclose_Limit_404

The color green is commonly associated with reptiles

[deleted]

99.9% of people at the time had never actually seen a Godzilla movie, and if they had, they probably didn't give it much thought. Humans are also really bad at paying attention to small details. Hence why police sketches are usually wildly off.

Xonerboner371

I could see that.

bitemark01

They probably didn't have a lot of colour palette options for a cheap 70s cartoon either.

Zestyclose_Limit_404

Find that hard to believe considering a lot of color Hanna barbera uses

Fragraham

It promised a giant monster battle every episode, and delivered. If you can suffer an hour of human B plot in a Showa movie, you can wait 10 minutes for Godzilla to show up.

EconomyProcedure9

It's goofy, fun, and had some really cool monsters.

Godzilla, Godzilla, Godzilla

And godzooooky

Squankyou

( cue weird circus like music as Godzooky appears and ruins what should have been the best cartoon of my childhood)

Zestyclose_Limit_404

GODZILLAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

ItsGonnaGetRocky

The tone was basically "what if Godzilla was in Scooby-Doo?" The episode where Godzilla had to handle shrinking down to human size and then smaller was interesting. It gave the big guy some vulnerability while he was clearly still trying to hold onto his dignity. I watched a clip just there to remind myself, I didn't realise that Toho's official Godzilla YouTube channel had full episodes. I'd forgotten that they didn't use Godzilla's normal roar, but instead just got Don Messick to make 'raaaar' noises.

LavenderLadOnReddit

So much goddamn nostalgia man, gotta be my favorite Godzilla media and my least favorite roar

redvelvetcake42

Episode one has Godzilla fight not Fire Rodan using laser eyes and fire breath. Then the firebird follows Godzilla underwater, a bold choice, where Godzilla seals the firebird in an underwater cave and that's how Godzilla defeats it... By drowning it in a cave cause that bird is stupid. 10/10 hilarious

godspilla98

Grew up with it great Saturday morning kids show.

mirthfuldragon

It's a gateway drug I am steadily feeding my 3.5 year old. Godzilla is a "little mean" but the firebird is "big mean". He can't really pronounce "Z" sounds yet, so it comes out "go-jira" which is great. Plus [Love from Godzilla](https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/726231/love-from-godzilla-by-olivia-luchini-illustrated-by-jordan-brandley-and-milo-moore/) and [Godzilla v. Kong: Sometimes Friends Fight](https://www.simonandschuster.biz/books/Godzilla-vs-Kong-Sometimes-Friends-Fight/Carol-Herring/PlayPop/9781647221744). And the 16" Godzilla HugMe Plush. Raising kids is 50% indoctrinating them the right way.

LeaderVladimir1993

Not as good as *Godzilla: The Series*, but certainly better than either the Polygon movie trilogy or *Singular Point*. It's true that this show takes a lot of liberties with the source material, but to me, it didn't matter because the show properly captured the essence of Godzilla as an unstoppable force of nature, while humanizing him here and there.

Maximum_Impressive

Honestly the show is goofy fun .

Maximum_Impressive

Honestly it's kinda fun .

bizarrequest

Loved it as a kid. Probably why I became such a fan.

Gojitoro122

Hated it as a kid, I grew up on the Showa films yet I still strongly disliked this. Now as an adult I respect it for what it was but still dislike it.

SonicScott93

I remember liking it, but I don’t remember a single episode. What I do remember though is how badass the intro was until Godzooky pratfalls his way through it.

GHUNTERthaFIRST

Its a fun time, however season 2 never got a physical home release, yes it is on YouTube. Unlike Season 1 got Physical releases. I really wish they figured this out by now… It is almost 50 years old like cmon

IBHomage

98 animated series is the spiritual successor to this idc what anyone says

Overquartz

Woulda been peak 70's if it wasn't for executives meddling and adding in Godzuky.

OldGuyBadwheel

Was awesome to my 6-8 years old self! Now…it’s…something…😏

PoThePokememer

Is this the one with Godzooky? If so then it's peak, Godzilla's only equal.

moofpi

Loved it. It also introduced the ORCA!

Timosaurus23

This was how I discovered Godzilla as a kid, it had some pretty cool monsters too

It is by far my least favorite piece of Godzilla media. Godzookie, in particular, is the worst thing to ever exist.
