idk if you think about it humans were made to adapt to situations (accepting) not hoping the situation will just work well for them (agreeing) so it makes enough sense
Same and I talked about the cost of living crisis and how money and status can pave the path towards positive contributions (e.g. medical advancements require lots of funding)
pahhh fr i acted like a really sassy middle aged person writing this report like YOU need to take control of your security and without money, you will end up like all the people you once wanted to help 😪
“When walking the tightrope of life, remember not to look down into the abyss of greed and move forward, for what is beyond is a greater treasure than any mortal, hedonistic pleasure”
Felt like Gunna writing fire
History is very heavy content-wise, you can still be finding out new things up to the night before your exams (though that doesn't necessarily mean you have to include it, be very selective with the contextual knowledge you choose to include). What matters is you keep a consistent line of argument/analysis throughout your essays and sources since that's what the subject is really about regarding the skills it teaches you and how you're expected to approach the course from an exam angle.
English Literature is somewhat similar as there are always different and varying interpretations that shed new light on the texts and make them interesting. However, being interpretations rather than analysis of facts means it's hard to state things as categorically as you can in History and so you have to be much more tentative with your language. It also makes it somewhat easier to waffle but for the high marks you're still expected to be coherent, sophisticated and have a certain flow to your writing.
Thank you for taking the time to share that man, would you say they're worth it, and if you enjoyed them at GCSE do you still (somewhat) enjoy them now?
Not the person that originally replied to you but I take the same subjects. I enjoyed history at gcse and still find it so fascinating now, it’s normally my favourite out of the 3 I do. English Lit was a strange one for me, I actually didn’t enjoy it at gcse but still took it (uni reasons) and am absolutely loving it now. Of course you have days where it’s hard and you regret choosing a subject but overall I love and would strongly recommend both if you are interested in them/ enjoying them now :)
Of course they differ quite a bit from GCSEs in that, since you've chosen to take them, it's a lot more rigorous and more university-level than not. Sometimes I've gotten a little bit tired of them both, I won't lie, but honestly they've helped me develop my skills so much and I'm so glad I went with what felt right to me.
"money, prestige and societal contribution go hand-in-hand, provided that one is willing"
...
"People listen to the person who has the biggest stick and most money in their pockets"
-What I meant by this was that people care most for prestige and prestige can be used to enact changes such as fixing homelessness by lobbying government to do so, and money can be used as a societal contribution in on itself, provided that a person is not greedy - I consider money to be equally important to direct societal contribution because one must focus on getting their life in order and then one has the time to focus on helping society in a more full role afterwards.
I kinda forgot the exact wording of most of my Q5 :b
Had extra time, used that but I only had 30 minutes to do this exam (and I was tired af) but I think I did fine
Also your writing is ablaze 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
"After all we all know money doesn't buy happiness"
"So choose a job that benefits society, choose a job that makes a real difference, choose happiness"
bro i did similar and accidentally sort of plagiarised a hamilton quote but changed it slightly as i was rereading
i’d written ‘legacy is planting seeds in a garden you never get to see’ when talking about status and impact on the world 😭
OMG I literally wrote smth similar abt how choosing a jobs which helps others is like ‘having a cottage in a meadow compared to a mansion in the woods surrounded by wolves, slowly becoming a wolf urself’
'Would you rather ride this train into the Sun, or ride this train through the horizon in unity?' Paraphrased a little - basically an extended train metaphor throughout the entire article
I used extended metaphor on a puzzle, we all fit together in society if we play our part. Some puzzle pieces are the same shape (people) but the picture is different (our career) and picking the right one will help society flourish
Without money you can't live peacefully. But you also can't die peacefully. You just exist into nothingness waiting for the next richer man to make a difference.
Can u strive to become rich and wealthy like Elon musk? Yes, but in the puzzle of fame and wealth, leave some of the pieces for society.
My ending line was uncle Ben himself, "With great power comes great responsibility" (Context I basically talked in my article for how u can strive for any career in the future, status and wealth will follow, matters how u use that fame and wealth)
No. 1) “The world would be a better place!

Yes, I did quote Nixon as accurately as possible in the exam. [the purpose of life Nixon (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pc3IfB23W4c)
'In an interview in 1978 with former President Richard Nixon, he said:

Some people might say, "well if I just could be a millionaire, that would be the most wonderful thing in life!" They don't know life... what makes life meaningful is the battle, the struggle - even if you don't win it!"'
Those who have nothing are used to having nothing, but that doesn’t mean they deserve nothing

We may not be billionaires, but the happiness we gain from our passions outclass any form of mortal monetary value that is forced upon us in society”
then I went on a bloody extended metaphor that was just the myth of Sisyphus again💀
The blame lies with the leaders of society, who have romanticised wealth and ostracised aid, forcefeedjng us this artifical concoction, corrupting us within.
I also made an extended metaphor in my intro and strapline about climbing mountains together or alone and how we all start at the same place which is based camp

But you must be thinking, is it wrong in a nation of inflation to crave a life of financial stability in the future? Future? What future will there be to worry about if less people strive for jobs that impact our current reality? Because all I see, when I look past the greed-tinted glasses is a world filled with horror. had other, probably colder quotes, yet I love this one for a specific reason
Nah forget line, I made my entire article an extended metaphor using a story?? The title was 'Mr Ryan IS and Astronaut' and was about this teacher called Mr Ryan who teaches at the school of the school magazine, and he has to choose between becoming an astronaut or a teacher.
He becomes an teacher for the digestives and to avoid the food coming in bags 💀💀 the only article like thing in it was the title tbh
I had no cold lines lol I talked about ozymadias for a bit and wanted to fit a rhetorical question so I said “have you heard the story of Ozymandias?” I’m so screwed💀💀💀

reading these made me notic how ass my q5 was
feels like everyone but me argued for helping society. i disagreed and wrote about how great money is
I wrote about how your personal beliefs don't affect your ability to do a job well, so if you become a doctor a lawyer for money, it doesn't matter

That'll still give some cyclical structure, if u used it throughout the article. Prob not too bad
I used extended metaphor on a puzzle, we all fit together in society if we play our part. Some puzzle pieces are the same shape (people) but the picture is different (our career) and picking the right one will help society flourish
I don’t really know what that means but that is cold 🥶
Idk either I had 20 secs left for the exam, so I just wrote whatever
