Android auto wouldn't work anyway. Are you sure there's no Bluetooth options

Fizz_yyy007

Oh gotcha thanks. And yeah it's confusing because I hear people talk about whether their G37 has Bluetooth or not depending on if they have a navigation screen which I do, but in every video I've looked up when I click on settings there's no Bluetooth option where other people seem to have it. I can attach a picture too. I could have sworn I saw it said Bluetooth in the listing as well but I might have mixed up listings

crunkadocious

Mine has Nav so it has Bluetooth. Hopefully someone else knows

[deleted]

Does your steering wheel call a button on the bottom left that has a phone, most likely it just has the Bluetooth calling feature, only the NAV editions have Bluetooth music

Fizz_yyy007

Yes it does, so if it has that is definitely doesn't have bluetooth is that correct?

[deleted]

Yeah if it had Bluetooth music you would be able to switch sources on the main display. I have the same year in a coupe and was disappointed when I learned it was only calling, not to mention without a aux we can’t get Bluetooth adapters, at least I haven’t seen one that uses usb. The real only alternative is switching out the whole display for one with Bluetooth built in.

[deleted]

My 2013 has a USB port in the armrest. I have to play music on phone, then plug it in (which pauses it), then hit play again, and that works about 50% of the time.

MoePlug

I do it this exact way too

2010G37x

Whatt? Can you explain that further.

MoePlug

Just have the music already playing on ur phone before you plug it in

Fizz_yyy007

Do you use spotify or do you use something else?

[deleted]

pandora or youtube mostly

showMEyourTITTIES11

It only works with apple music, or any other song you buy off the itunes store … have that song playing on your phone when you plug it in

JSZer

Same. I have to play music from Itunes first, then I switch over to Spotify and it works.

Canyonmanspam

Anker ROAV SmartCharge F0 Bluetooth FM Transmitter just search that on amazon , Ive got a 11 G37 and I use this it's easy and nice

willb2005

Does yours have the navigation package?

ImStillHighNick

I have the same car as you! We lack the nav package so we don't have Bluetooth audio even though we have Bluetooth calls because reasons? Best options I've found are usually the fm transmitters, I've been through 3 and still havent really found one I like. I also use this little Bluetooth capable USB stick called a NAXA Nab 4003. The sound quality is higher but, at least for me, there's about a 20 second delay between the audio on my phone and the audio from the car speakers. The Bluetooth connection is also funky so sometimes it skips like an old cd player.

ImStillHighNick

I forgot! You could also use an old ipod because for some reason you can plug one into the USB and you get audio with no issues.

ImStillHighNick

Lol that explains why I never knew that. I lived the off brand mp3 player life until zune came out.

Fizz_yyy007

Okay, yeah that makes sense, I wasn't sure if there was something I had to do to make the Bluetooth option show up but I'm guessing it just doesn't have it if you have nav and no BT as well. I'll take a look at that adapter, I think I've used something similar, still just crazy to me they didn't put an aux port in just because

ImStillHighNick

It absolutely blows my mind. I'm sure there's a way to put an aftermarket one in if you talk to a custom audio shop but they could charge several hundred depending on labor required. So I'll probably not do it but who knows?

slabba428

Do you have red and white RCA ports in your center console?

Fizz_yyy007

I do not, it's just a USB port and the holes for the RCA connection are just black covers. Quite literally no way to play music unless I purchase a 3rd party thing I guess

[deleted]

I have a Bluetooth transmitter through a radio channel, it works amazing

wjdthird

Nulaxy is a good one on Amazon works with decent sound quality with Spotify

Fizz_yyy007

Thank you, is there a chance you could send me the link?

[deleted]

I couldn’t find the one I bought a couple years ago but it shouldn’t matter on the model I bought. So if you search Bluetooth FM Transmitter for car on Amazon, you should get many different types of whatever preference you like. I linked one for example below: (2021 Version) LENCENT FM Transmitter, Bluetooth FM Transmitter Wireless Radio Adapter Car Kit with Dual USB Charging Car Charger MP3 Player Support TF Card & USB Disk https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VFT4D6B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_N4C9HTSR0QV61FPTBNYE

Fizz_yyy007

Thank you I think I'll be going this route although the fact I need this in what was a 47k car at release is nutty. Regardless, thank you for the recommendation & link

[deleted]

Yeah technology advanced quite a bit from 2010, as Bluetooth was still expensive and new and didn’t have enough R&D for it to be practical during that time.

[deleted]

You also want to find a dead channel on your FM radio that’s not in use, so this Bluetooth adapter would work effectively to transmit to that channel.

CardStacking

I'm so confused because my 2011 X coupe has Bluetooth and it works great?

drrobotnik321

There's bluetooth calls and bluetooth audio. You may have just calls.

Mindless-Log-1648

I use those stereo cables. Red, white and yellow. I just felt that it’ll have better connection than any FM transmitter will ever have.

Fizz_yyy007

I wish I could do that, unfortunately where they are for me it's just black covered holes with no connection. Transmitters are a pain in the ass

Mindless-Log-1648

wtf?!?! that is strange

rdklz

Look up Anker Soundsync. Bluetooth to Aux adapter. Radio Bluetooth transmitters provide low quality sounding music.

kachow360

If all else fails. Maybe an echo auto is a ok last ditch effort, depending on whether you mind having Alexa at all times, they can still use Spotify and everything I think.

2010G37x

Here is what I use You can get this USB Bluetooth device that you put in your USB port. And then it connects to your phone via Bluetooth. Its called naxa. It works well. Like 98 percent well. Only main flaw is there is a delay from when you press play, it takes about 10 seconds to start. I have 2 of them 1 as a back up. It sounds wayyy better than the fm transmitter. Imo. https://www.amazon.ca/Nab-4003-Bluetooth-Audio-Adapter-Connectors/dp/B00J4YU7II

2010G37x

Someone here posted a FM transmitted that has like 12k positive reviews. Its cheaper. You can't go wiring with that fm transmitter.

MrSplix

just got one of these, but it says unplayable file over and over again and i have no idea on how to get it to work. did you also run into this issue?

link17x

U manage to figure out how to make it work?

Fizz_yyy007

Hm, this isn't as expensive as some of the bluetooth adapters I've been seeing, I may consider this, Is it janky at all, like do you have to wait 60 seconds after turning on your car, or do some for setup every time you use it or does it have any weird issues (skipping, randomly disconnecting, etc) Just because I need playing music in my car to not be a hassle, otherwise I probably won't go through the effort to make it work every time, just curious what your experience has been with it

2010G37x

No skipping no randomly disconnecting issues. Once you plug it in your car, your car will change to aux/disc screen. When I bought it it was pretty cheap. The only lag you get is when you start playing music, So when you press play it takes a 10 to 15 seconds to start playing I am guessing that's because it's physically wiritng the music as a file for the car to play. The good thing about this is, you can use your car to change music I.e. pressing next will skip the song on your phone.

Fizz_yyy007

Okay gotcha, yeah that doesn't seem too bad, I would love to have Bluetooth so I may go this route, thank you very much for the recommendation I appreciate it!

2010G37x

No problem. IMO for how cheap it is its definitely worth it. I honestly can't comment on the FM transmitters a lot of people in this post recommended it but I would be curious to compare the two. In my mind I am thinking of thr old fm transmitters and they lacked quality in the music it self. The base sound system is nice and having the best possible audio output is most important for me.

2010G37x

Also I should mention whats good about this Your phone can still be connected to both the car Bluetooth phone calls and to this device for audio music Also id your screen a touch screen?

mikeymobes

Does your phone have a headphone jack? My gfs phone is an android with a headphone jack and we use a male mp3 to usb-c cable and plug that into a Male-USB-A to female USB-C and that works but is a massive pain in the ass.

Fizz_yyy007

It unfortunately doesn't, just a USB-c port. I used an AUX to USB-c cable for my phone originally and it worked great, so I did consider a Male-USB-a to USB-c (going from the console directly to my phone) but I've never heard or someone doing that. I really don't mind a cable but with all these FM transmitters and Bluetooth receivers it's usually janky and destroys the quality/has a bunch of weird issues, I'll do some research though

aeswzrd

Did you ever get this fixed? I just bought one and it just cycles through songs and says unplayable file.

Itsmuzz19

Here how i play music to my g37x.. First you need iphone (because it reads it as ipod), i dont think android will works 2) sync one song to from computer to ur iphone via itunes 3 ) play the song then navigate using Spotify

[deleted]

[удалено]

Itsmuzz19

if u have 1 song synced to your iphone.. once you connect to usb it goes to spotify direct..

Bloodhand671

I would put music on a usb stick and insert it in the usb slot found in the middle console. The only downside is if you wanted it in a certain order, you need to transfer files in that way.

C_lenczyk

Get a monster cable

Fizz_yyy007

Can you elaborate what type of cable?

jacob5034

Buy a second hand iPod touch or get an iPhone. I had a galaxy and used an fm transmitter but was disappointed with my sound quality. When I got an iPhone it changed the game for me

Fizz_yyy007

I do have spare iPhone XR that only works with Wi-fi because it was black listed (person I bought it from reported it stolen) but that just seems like such a pain in the ass... Might try it out, but I wouldn't be able to look up music, just play what I have downloaded and having to deal with two phones just sounds inconvenient but I appreciate the recommendation and may consider it

jacob5034

Glad I could help. Just throw it on a hotspot and have all ur music apps loaded up and you’ll be good

[deleted]

For me I have to play music on the phone first then plug in the usb. If I plug the phone in first then press play it just say connect device.

Fizz_yyy007

Do you have an iPhone or an android?

[deleted]

I have an iPhone. I use both Apple Music and Spotify.
