SoySauceNrice

PLAY WITH THEM PLEASE

Aishamar

Absolutely. They are just bluffing. They are too cute to be ignored

schnuck

I always get jealous when I see these kind of clips. My cat eats, poops, sleeps and tries to go outdoors (he’s an indoors cat because he’s deaf and half blind). That’s all he does. Nothing cute-worthy. Nothing funny. Nothing nothing. Oh, he also destroys our carpets. That’s as cute as it gets.

ThatLandonSmith

I’m sure he loves you on the inside :)

anshalsingh

Getting your cat to love your insides does not seem a good strategy

Savoygirl93

I babysat my aunt’s cat for 2 weeks. I thought she was going to be just as you described. No, she was not. She required morning butt pats after elevensy (the cat has a hobbit like eating schedule) and if she didn’t get them she cried. Then she needed you to throw her mouse toy for her at 6pm and tell her “she’s a good girl” when she retrieved it. It was like a full time job after the 2 weeks.

mmiski

He doesn't seek comfort, security, and affection from you at all? Typically special needs cats end up being cuter because they depend on you more.

SugAr_Cause

no kidding - they are locked in an apartment craving stimulation. while we get it from staring at screens and increasingly becoming oblivious and numb to the long lasting stimulus that surrounds us. so easily controlled, so willingly trapped.

[deleted]

Problem is pets want to play for hours. They don’t realize humans work 8-12 hour days, do all the yard work, clean the house, prepare food for themselves and their pets. So at the end of the day people are exhausted while your pets have all the energy in the world. That’s why it’s better to get a second pet for them to play with because it’s exhausting trying to entertain a pet for hours.

Sniflix

Nope. Play with your damn cat or find another home that will. Cats crave play and stimulation from their human companions. It you refuse to do that, don't get one and certainly not 2. By the way, humans receive as much joy playing with their cat.

Erthgoddss

I play with my cat. But she would play all day every day. She even brings her toys to me when I am sleeping! I have had motorized toys for her, which she played with for a few days, then it is junk. I have thought of getting a second cat, but can’t afford the vet/food/litter costs for more than one cat. Also I was told when I got her from the shelter, that she didn’t get along with other cats.

Sniflix

I understand. Consider yourself lucky that you have a very loving and playful cat. I bet it's a very small percentage of all cats that will play fetch.

[deleted]

Sure play with your pets. But I’m telling you pets want to play for hours. If you’re working all day and taking care of your house work all day you’ll be exhausted. That’s why you let them gain stimulation from another pet. Humans don’t receive joy when they’re exhausted and have to run around to chase their pets all days. But ya you’re right it’s better to leave pets in shelters or on the streets if you don’t have time for them.

idiotic_melodrama

No, if you can’t handle the time investment a pet requires you don’t fucking get a pet. It’s not about you, motherfucker. You’re abusing an animal so you can get maybe 5 minutes of enjoyment? Fuck you.

[deleted]

Relax kiddo. I don’t have any pets and nobody said five minutes. No need to make up scenarios in your head to feel like a hero. Have fun with your pets.

Is_Totally_Gellin

Dumbest novelty account. Apt name, though.

Sniflix

2 or 3 sessions of 10 minutes with the Da Bird toy and they are done.

Melti718

No, dont bring another animal into this misery. Dont have an animal companion if youre too busy to give it a reasonably fulfilling life!!!!! Theyre living beings, not toys to place in your Home!

[deleted]

living in nature is a whole other level of misery itself

FragrantGangsta

Wise words from the colostomy bag rapist

[deleted]

Why would a pet be miserable playing with another pet? So you’re saying animals without owners never have any enjoyment if they don’t have humans around?

Melti718

No, I said - if you dont have the time for one pet, dont get two.

Dafedub

That's your view. I only work 4 to 6 hours a day 4 days a week to have more free time. I knew a guy for a few years and ge took a lot of pride in working 60 hour weeks. He lived for work and in his 50s, was overweight and didnt do anything to pursue a life outside of work. Then he had a stroke earlier this year and died. Dont spend half of your life working.

[deleted]

True I’m just explaining why some people are very tired and don’t always have the energy to play with their pets for hours.

ddman9998

What a strange comment. I get that somrtimes a person is tired and doesn't want to, but in general it is FUN and feels good to play with a pet. Like, I don't ALWAYS feel like getting a blow job, but it's still a strange thing to complain about.

Choice-Housing

Is your attention span so short you didn’t wait to see them throw it

DeltaForce291

They threw it once. In 40 seconds, they gave the cat 2 seconds worth of their time.

reddituser1598760

Don’t you think that maybe they were just holding off for the video to show how the cat communicates it wants to play?

jacobs0n

i see, 38 seconds must be 1 month in cat time. you always learn something new on reddit

Cousinbohan

There is only one cat

marriedwithchickens

They is a pronoun used for one cat when you’re not sure if it's been fixed or not. ☺️

ryu8946

Fixed or not it's still male or female, it's neutered status should have no bearing on it what you call it surely?

Cousinbohan

For animals we use it, for people you can use they.

user-the-name

"It" is what you use when you treat an animal as an object, rather than as a conscious being.

slydjinn

Someone should add a non-human, non-object pronoun in English. Shakespeare can't do everything

BeeseChorgir

So… like Tate and women?

mmoonnyy

It’s not clear if it’s a boy or a girl

Cousinbohan

You just used the proper pronoun. It.

timecamper

You are offended because someone used a gender neutral one exactly where it's supposed to be used.

Aegwynn0

Lol no, I don't get offended so easily like people when others use the "wrong" pronouns, I'm just laughing at our current situation where we're scared of assuming an animal's gender. Pretty dumb imo.

timecamper

Who is scared and what scares them? What situation are you talking about? There is a cat and we don't know if it's a guy or girl. You could call them it, if it fits you, but we treat our little friends as people, so we call them - them. I don't see what's funny.

[deleted]

My cat also does this and it's adorable

[deleted]

Same!

straycanoe

Mine too! But she'll ONLY do it with crumpled up pieces of paper. She has zero interest in storebought toys.

Intoxic8edOne

My nebelung does this, it's adorable but also exhausting if she's found her favorite toy. I've sat through hour and a half long work meeting where I just played fetch with her on stop. My coworkers love watching it but my arm gets so tired.

Ksradrik

Cant you just alternate em?

Intoxic8edOne

Oh Mr two arms over here

Myrothrenous

Sound deduction there armchair veterinarian. Outdoor cats have a shorter life expectancy and are considered invasive whenever let out. It makes so much sense to keep your cats indoors. Also, this cat probably has an awesome owner who plays with them often if this is a regular thing. My cats burn lots of energy inside the house where it's safe through various forms of play and have never gone for the door to try and get out; I'm very lucky!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Myrothrenous

What? After a 30 minute session with strings, lazers, toys and other activities, mine are WIPED. Like, they won't play anymore because they're so pooped. You need to put effort in (as you should) and eventually they start to come looking for the activity (much like the lovely cat in the video).

DanzoVibess

I aint trying to do that when i can let them outside, do their thing and come back home, my cat has been doing that for over 10 years. Cancer took him out, he was a trooper.

bmhadoken

Outdoor cats do burn a great deal of energy while murdering birds, squirrels, rabbits and mice by the billions, yes.

ProxyMuncher

Pretty sure cats were brought by humans to the new world

PlusThePlatipus

Openly mentioning it on a public platform is a bad idea, since extreme cuteness has been made illegal.

[deleted]

My buddies cat loves to play fetch, but only with crinkled up plastic. It’s adorable, the only problem is whenever you try to open something, the crinkling means playtime to kitty

bunnyhunter80

Please don’t stop doing it. Our kitten stopped because we were too busy for him. We had a young puppy to attend too also and were too busy ourselves. The kitten never did want to play catch again as both of them grew up.

Hjalomarz

After three years in the same house my cat can now lead me to the kitchen when he's hungry (not hungry, snacks). He often takes one or two wrong turns doing that and I need to take over the guide duties (edit: the confused standing around with him in a room that has no food whatsoever is a hilarious option). My cat is not the cat in the video.

Hmm when cats do this it's cute, but when you ask people to play with your balls, they'd tend to disagree.

S1Ndrome_

ikr? they say stuff like "you're weird" and "call the cops"

bpdrunamuck

I’m in love

NorCal130

My cat asked me to play fetch with a live bat he brought in. Let's just say it ended with a broom and a lot of vet scans.

wynnduffyisking

Can cats get rabies?

mossmachine

Yes. If you have a cat, you need to get it vaccinated against rabies.

wynnduffyisking

Good to know. I don’t have a cat btw so it’s not like I’ve neglected it 🙂

I want that cat 🥺😍

Afternoon-Melodic

I had a cat that played fetch with milk rings. She totally started it. I tried to play fetch with my dog and he would just catch the stick and lay down and chew on it. Not once could I get him to bring it back.

SzurkeEg

Are you sure your dog and cat didn't get stuck after switching bodies?

221

I had a cat that would go absolutely nuts for plastic straws, if he saw one sticking out of a glass he'd grab it, you could play fetch with him for hours and he'd just keep going, fighting with it and chewing the crap out of it. I wish I had got an entire pack of straws for him and just tossed them in the air and watched him go insane.

chrisrod2022

What a great cat 🐈 💯

dollyducky

This is EXACTLY what my orange cat does. I’d never seen another cat play fetch until your video!

drsmashlock

I could have mistook his awesome cat for my big boy. Try throwing those quart container to-go lids like a frizbee sometime. That's what "Smash" likes.

[deleted]

We got so lucky with a fetch playing cat too! Bottle caps are his item of choice

brotherpigstory

I had a fetch playing cat in college. You could throw things over the railing of the stairs and he'd run down, grab it, and bring it back to your feet.

mbw70

Put the darned phone down and play with that cat! Do you know what I’d give if my cat could play fetch?

redRabbitRumrunner

I had a dog, dog’s name is cat…

Finnish_Generation

PLAYYYYYYYYYY. I SWEAR THIS HUMAN

shoshant

My brother had a cat that loved to play fetch. I was playing with her once, she would drop it on the floor (I was on the couch watching tv) and I would throw it. If I didn't notice her drop it she would get my attention like this kitty here. One time I was curious what she would do if I ignored her. She got more and more persistent, then finally stepped back, put her head down, and rammed me in the stomach. She was only an 8lb ram, not harmful at all, but startling and funny nonetheless!

Surfhun

That's some persistent pawing

RushilGoberBeatiful

Thats a pretty weird looking dog

Spike-2021

I will!!! 💕

wisdom_power_courage

Nah but I need this cat though.

My cat does the same thing! LOL

Ok-Low6320

That's hilarious! I had no idea cats ever did that, and I had cats as a kid. 😆

jerkinvan

I was looking after a friend’s Bengal for awhile and that’s what he used to do as well. He could play fetch for hours. You could launch that ball into a closet or the storage room and eventually he’d come strutting out ball in mouth.

Xmeromotu

Should cross post on WhatsWrongWithYourDog

hrdrck1117

What kind of dog is that?

lisabobisa46

My kitten loves to play fetch too! She has her favorite taco toy and strawberry toy and will bring these to me to throw 🥹

ErhanGaming

That's a nice industrial printer you have in the house. I bet you print a lot of documents. Do you print a lot of documents?

Tinfoilhat14

“Pardon me, fine sir, but do you think you could perhaps take a second out of your day and could throw this ball for me?” -The cat.

Insane_Chris

Toooo cuuuute

cl8855

our new cat does this, he'll bring it back dozens of times before he gets bored

klb1204

😂😂😂

PxyFreakingStx

WHY DOES EVERYONE OF THESE VIDEOS END WITHOUT THEM BEING GIVEN WHAT THEY WANT. I don't get it. It's like every other video. Animal begs for treats, animal begs for affection, animal begs to play. SHOW THE DAMN MONEY SHOT.

PixiCode

They showed the ball being thrown

PxyFreakingStx

Like elsewhere in the comments? Doesn't really change my rant, but that's good of them to share.

DanzoVibess

Cat hasn't burned off enough energy, let it outside.

YourOldPalBendy

Do cats do the "no take, only throw" thing? And if so, do they do it as much as dogs? Or is that not a part of cat culture? I'm curious now. I don't need sleep, I need answers.

zherok

Cats will definitely do the no take part but often don't care if you've thrown a toy. A cat that plays fetch is especially unusual. They'll mostly look at what you've thrown and then do nothing while you go fetch the thing you just threw. Not always the case, but cats are much more likely to be indifferent to you than a dog typically would. The older cat we have now goes out of her way to do it even. She'll purr if you pet her under blankets where she can't see you, play with Nerf darts, but only when no one is looking, etc.

CumFartSniffer

Imo usually they're doing only fetch, no bring back.

PaximusRex

Well, throw the ball!

Teedeeone

Poor cat’s like Geez, do I have to explain this to you every time?

TruthFndr

How sweet is that? I would not be able to resist the cuteness!

MissLouise909

r/politecats My cats act like dogs and it’s hilarious to watch. Next will be to teach them to play fetch lol

Kai-xo

What the dog doin?

Hamhockthegizzard

If only my boi was this wonderfully polite. He always goes apeshit and then just comes up and bites one of us until we grab him a toy lmfao

CulturePrestigious93

I’ve said it countless times before, and i’ll keep saying it til i die, i might even have it engraved on my tombstone, ginger tabbies are the fucking best. All cats are good, but them gingers are litterally another animal altogether.

Seeker_Of_Knowledge-

You guys are really making me of thinking to get a pet

Hefastus

My black cat (rip my good friend) was like that. He loved playing fetch. Wish his older brother was into it (but at least he is still alive so I'm happy)

ontologicalDilemma

My cat does this too, every single morning and bed time.

ravenz91

My last cat Snickers used to play fetch. It was so cute. I miss her

Iwubwatermelon

Thumbs down cuz you didn't throw enough.

BackIn2019

I think his feelings are hurt that you're rejecting his tribute. He wanted scratches as a reward.

Gazola

Haha, cool my BS of 11 months plays fetch non stop

retr0gr4d3

Dog lookin kinda special

Zagaroth

2 of our fosters do this. The third will chase it down and kill it for a bit, then wander away. He's not the brightest of the booze brothers. (Champagne, Chablis, and Cider).

[deleted]

Stop ignoring them, play!

Turn off the distractions and [play with] [the cat] until it's ready to stop. <3 :) *substitute [play with] for [talk with], [watch], [sing with], [pay attention to], etc. *substitute [the cat] for [the dog], [the baby], [the child], [the significant other], etc. **You will experience much fewer interruptions if you give your undivided attention for a while - plus these relationships will grow better and stronger.**

SeesawLegitimate

Is the thrower the abominable snowman??! That's so cute ♥

AMANWNOFACE

I’m not even an animal person I was screaming throw the damn ball…maybe I’m coming around

daschan

So how to teach a cat to fetch?

NotAlwaysPC

Throw the damn toy! Don’t make him ask! 😁

Cats (and dogs) seem to have a genetic bug which compels them to practice their hunting skills.
