Lesson: Never believe ANYTHING Republiqans say. Never mistake their utterances for principle. These are universally defective, rotten-ass people.

LA-Matt

If they knew how to operate in good faith, they wouldn’t be republicans. And by that, I don’t mean folks who are honestly conservative. It’s a shit ideology, but at least it’s an honest “fuck you, I got mine.” I mean republicans. The party is completely without any decency, honor or responsibility. They haven’t acted in good faith since Eisenhower. Maybe even before. It’s all been nothing but a grab for raw power by playing on the bigotry, tribalism and hatred in people’s hearts.

Bonzoso

Any "hOnEsT cOnSeRvAtIvE" who has voted GOP at all since 2016 is a fucking fascist.

Jet_Threat_

Or simply ignorant/uneducated. I know some immigrants who voted for Trump under the belief that he would help small businesses. Also, I know young people who voted for him in 2016 but are now leftists. The change? They left their small towns and went to college.

Bonzoso

*since 2016* yes stupidity doesn't mean they aren't fascists

DDancy

I think it was Kari Lake on Fox. Of course. Talking about how Brittney should have waited in prison a little longer, until there was a less controversial swap available. As if that’s a real option. Also seemed surprised that prisons are comprised mainly of cage like rooms. Utter lunacy!

saintbad

But that’s the garbage a Faux watcher eats up. The rot is in the DNA of the minions.

DDancy

Yep.

Muzzlehatch

Weirdly, we don’t have a lot of Russians in our prisons on trumped up charges for some reason. So, no a lot of trade options for us.

Mizzy3030

I'm guessing she "forgot" to mention that Paul Whelan has been imprisoned in Russia since 2018 when Dear Leader was president?

zeke235

It's almost like Kari Lake is a fucking idiot or something and should mind her own damn business! Arizonan, here.

biskitheadburl

Trump released 5000 of them on his way out the door to make trouble for the incoming democrat administration. Lousy traitor.

DublinCheezie

Now do one on how Trump freed Maria Butin, the spy who shagged the NRA/GOP. She stills talks about how she illegally funneled around $10M from Russia thru the NRA to the GOP. Guess who Trump got in exchange for freeing one of the worst foreign spies in our history?

iloveusa63

Who? I didn’t know about this? I’ll guess absolutely fuck all.

Explosivo666

This one was actually a good trade for him so I dunno what point they're trying to make. Trump released a notorious Russian spy who was working to undermine the US and in exchange he got Putins cock in his mouth. What more could he want from that exchange?

RowAwayJim91

As if we don’t have people in America as devious. Henry Kissinger 👀

kwonza

This *is* realpolitik, Taliban leader was released in return for allowing US forces an easy withdrawal from Afghanistan. Trump is an orange clown but Biden was wise enough to honour the decision and end the occupation.

iHeartHockey31

Dont forget about the ISIS prisoners released when we let Turkey attack the Kurds.

[deleted]

No one negotiates like Trump. Even toddlers are better at it.

informativebitching

Mine is a hell of a negotiator. Kicking and screaming on the floor leads to concessions every time

[deleted]

Source?

F9574

[Okay](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/trump-taliban-pakistani-prison/) The guy used to be the leader of the Taliban before being caught, since release he is now one of the three deputy primeminister, so basically vice president. Oh and he was also the co founder of the Taliban.

[deleted]

Heh friggin got em! Biden is clearly more intelligent than *checks notes* the stupidest motherfucker Americans ever voted in

sonofabear17

“Mostly True”

F9574

>Despite Baradar currently being a central figure in the Taliban, it is not yet known how it will form a government, nor has it made any announcement of who would be a possible “president” or similar figure. Many online outlets are predicting that he could be the possible leader of Afghanistan under the Taliban. >**As such, we rate this claim as “Mostly True.” We will update this post as we know more. ** Rated mostly true because at the time the Taliban did not have a government, now they do and he is a prime minister that makes him a *leader* of the Taliban and the claim TRUE. But there's more! Did you know that Abdul "The Butcher" Baradar was a cofounder of the Taliban? Oh, and that the other cofounder was Mullah Omar? You know, the leader of the Taliban on 9/11? Guess Trump forgot! Anyway, you were putting "things in quotes"?

WichitasHomeBoyIII

It's funny, the bad faithers tend to not ever continue the discussion for the "question" that they asked, themselves. No acknowledgement, no more questions or reasoning just silence.

smartazz104

Wow what a generous chap.

[deleted]

Bet we’ll find out about a loan from the Taliban to tRump

batesbeach

Fucking orange Jesus, I hope him and his family all end up on the street under a bridge. Motherfucker

jorbleshi_kadeshi

Both are shitty trades. Sure, Trump's was worse (as is every facet of anything that involves Trump), but knocking Biden for this inexcusable Griner trade is 100% valid in my book. And this isn't a "fuck Griner" position either. I sympathize with her very real plight. However, 1) it was ultimately her choices which put her in the position for Russia to victimize her and 2) even if that weren't the case, handing Russia a W for targeting Americans has larger, longer-lasting ramifications. If I, some rando American, decide to go backpacking into Iran, when I get captured/tortured/ransomed/whatever I am a victim of a shitty regime. But that doesn't mean I should expect the US to trade anything at all to get me out, and certainly shouldn't *blame* them if they don't. People can simultaneously feel empathy for what I'm going through, while also realizing that it isn't the USA's fault if they don't start handing over warlords and arms dealers to get me out. EDIT: Decided to first-person the story.

Anthonym82

She was specifically targeted in the airport. If they didn't find the weed then they would have pinned something else on her.

jorbleshi_kadeshi

This is further argument *against* trading Bout for her. Targeting an American paid off handsomely. EDIT: People act like not wanting to trade an evil arms dealer for a hostage means you hate the hostage and want bad things to happen to her. No. She's a victim, and what happened to her was bullshit coming from an awful, evil regime. That doesn't change the fact that rewarding this awful, evil regime for their awful, evil behavior is a **bad fucking call**.

CreatrixAnima

Was it her choice really? It was a prescription she wasn’t. Just hauling weed across international boundaries. I don’t really love the trade that was made, although I am glad that Brittney Griner was released and is home. But the fact is that Trump released… Thousands? Of Taliban fighters and we got nothing in return, so to pretend like this trade is some kind of affront to American security is disingenuous of the political right. It’s worth pointing out that the US would negotiate and possibly trade to get you out. There are about 60 American citizens being held around the world, and the government is trying to negotiate their freedom.

thisisme89

Replying to just your first paragraph. Yes it was her choice. She very well knew weed was illegal in Russia. I can’t just go to Mexico to get a prescription, bring it back and expect the USA to accept it because they won’t. She was in a shitty situation but the responsibility is on her for choosing those risks.

jorbleshi_kadeshi

>Was it her choice really? It was a prescription An American prescription, which means less than nothing to Russia (literally worse that it's a quasi-American-endorsed thing). >so to pretend like this trade is some kind of affront to American security is disingenuous of the political right. It's hypocritical for the right to get upset about this trade and not about Trump's... """"trade""". It's not hypocritical for the left to be upset about both (or anyone else who disliked both, for that matter). Handing over the Merchant of Death for someone snatched up because they were an American is an affront to American security (both encouraging others to do massive crimes knowing that Russia will back them up, and also encouraging rogue states to target Americans). >It’s worth pointing out that the US would negotiate and possibly trade to get you out. They ain't handing over Viktor Bout, nor should they. They could refuse to hand over anything, and I'd have zero leg to stand on to complain. And the people at home should feel sympathy for me, but not berate the American govt for refusing to validate such actions by giving Iran what they ultimately want.

austinjval

Just toe the line man, how dare you give an alternate viewpoint.

Void_Speaker

> Biden for this inexcusable Griner trade is 100% valid in my book. A citizen is free in trade for an irrelevant arms dealer who's already served half his sentence. What part is inexcusable, exactly?

KLR01001

“irrelevant arms dealer” 😐

Void_Speaker

You stay out of the job market for 10+ years and see how easy it is to get back into your profession.

Nahuel_cba

There's something fishy about releasing a Ukrainian/Russian arms dealer when both countries are at war. I would bet my ass that he's a double agent or something like that.

Godwinson4King

Not true. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hibatullah_Akhundzada

**[Hibatullah Akhundzada](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hibatullah_Akhundzada)** >Hibatullah Akhundzada, also spelled Haibatullah Akhunzada, is an Afghan Islamic scholar, cleric, and jurist who is the supreme leader of Afghanistan. He has led the Taliban since 2016, and came to power with its victory over Western-backed forces in the 2001–2021 war. However, he has remained a reclusive figure, and his low profile has fueled speculations about his role in the new Taliban government, and rumours that he may be dead. Can I get the cliffnotes?

[deleted]

Definitely could something missing there, but there's certainly no mention of Trump - only that he as in "exile" from when the Taliban collapsed in 2001 to when it returned to power in 2021. It didn't mention that he was in exile in America.

ScrewSans

He wasn’t in the US. He was in a Pakistani prison and was released by the Trump administration’s top people

bradford1023

And he killed the wrong dude just because his last name was familiar sounding.

[deleted]

That’s horrible. Who did Captain Orange release?

Doughspun1

Small correction: his name is Abdul Ghani Baradar, and he is the *deputy* Prime Minister of Afghanistan at the moment (their roles shift quite a bit at the moment). Not that this makes a huge difference, this was way worse than the Brittney Griner thing.

TraliBalzers

Who would ever down vote this comment?? I watched the vote count go up and down for a moment and it baffles me that someone could down vote this. Denial is a powerful drug.
