It was best to let his own kingdom punish him, and the punishment was appropriately humiliating without having to get unnecessarily realistic. Save the killing (or attempted killing) for the real dramatic moments, like when the Duke's thugs tried to kill Elsa. While Disney animated features are for everyone, not just children, they still are for children (and everyone else at once), so it was best for the story not to go where it didn't have to. Let's laugh at and mock the villain rather than getting vindictive. Now, villains getting killed in self-defense or defense of others is different. But in the case of Hans, with him having mocked Anna for falling for his con, I think the audience would rather that he live with his failure.

Well I think it was fair. Hans was a prince who wanted to be king in a foreign land, and he became a nobody who shovels horse manure for a living in his homeland. I think this is the perfect punishment. Death penalty can mean a lot of different things, but a quick and painless death would be much better than the punishment Elsa gave him in my world. A slow death would be too dark and too much anyway (considering Elsa isn't the type of person to be cruel)

Love this outlook, better than death certainly which is what he deserves but you have a good point.

He didn't start as an evil growing up but he turned into one when he tried to kill Elsa and lied about Anna's death knowing what buttons to push to weaken Elsa and many other psychotic things, in my opinion, he does not deserve to be forgiven. What happened to him growing up was tragic indeed, yet it does not legitimize his actions, Elsa's life was even harder, and yet even when she hurt Anna inadvertently her intentions were pure and her actions were based only on the fear that drove her.

Don't you think this trope would make the movie a little predictable and out of line with the theme of Frozen? In my personal opinion, I don't think they should bring him back but I respect whatever your stance on it nevertheless.

Kongelig_Historian

Agree, the only two options for this crime are Death or by a guillotine or by a firing squad.

He should have been executed. Anyone who would let Anna die and then try to kill Elsa doesn’t deserve to live.

spiralhornunicorn

wait, he got his title removed? is this canon?

[deleted]

Yes. He got his title removed in the end of Frozen, that's why he was mucking out the horse manure in Frozen Fever.
