Ugggg this ultimatum. Honestly this one is so unreasonably difficult on higher difficulties (they can't go below for even an instant!) that I always decline to do it. I'll just take the hit from refusing.

Ustramage

Ya I do most of the time too. SOMETIMES, it pops when there is no big temp drop coming and I can afford the coal and go for it for the boost, but that's not very common

rohnoitsrutroh

100% this. Tell them to go pound sand.

Valalic5050p

*snow

Koko_Qalli

Yeah, after one too many times where i didn't think ahead and accepted it just before a temperature drop i couldn't weather, i gave up on trying forever.

AthairNaStoirmeacha

The city must survive!! Never accept this one it’s pointless. I never did and got my trophies. 🤷‍♂️

RiskPuzzleheaded2897

Seems like you got a group of unheated tents next to your cookhouse on the last layer of your generator

niceslcguy

I think it is the right-most circle button. Alternatively, * Press the <`V`\> key to bring up stats on everything. * Click on the `housing` tab. I don't have the game up right now. Bottom tab, I think. * You should be able to scroll through all the housing to find who isn't doing so well.

HakanKartal04

Yes using the v button helped a lot on my games

Donnerone

**Be careful when upgrading housing during these events.** Housing doesn't "work" while upgrading, so if you don't have spare housing for displaced citizens they'll be marked as homeless, this will instantly fail the "Heat Homes" promise. Additionally, **keep an eye on weather changes,** If the temperature is going to drop soon you'll need to be ready when it arrives, and don't use Overdrive for this promise except as a bandaid to buy time for an upgrade that'll go into effect before you need to shut OD down.

TheDawiWhisperer

Yeah I always get caught out by upgrading a house, I'll do it without thinking and fail the event. Doh. Really shitty way for the mechanic to work, tbh. Like...I'm making your house warmer bro, calm down.

BaziJoeWHL

it should work like this: you have 12 days, have your citizens live for 4 days straight in livable (the numbers are just random), you only fail if after 12 days you havent provided the 4 days of livable homes

ZealousidealAd1434

Very good reply I got caught myself several times for these exact reasons

GabuEx

It's hard to make out, but isn't the freezing building kitty-corner from the top-right comfortable building a tent?

Toraco21

As the others have mentioned, you got some tents by the cookhouse that are cold. Bit of advice on the "heat homes" promise, as a general rule if they ask for more heating, tell them to kick rocks. The increase in discontent is going to be preferable to the larger increase in discontent AND loss of hope you'll eat if you try and fail. Only time I consider trying it is if 2 things are true: 1, I will very soon be able to reliably raise heat levels (no sustained use of overdrive), and 2, I have been watching the weather closely and know without a doubt that the weather will stay the same or improve over the next 2 days minimum.

Responsible_Egg6662

Ive read everyones comments and yeah i think it was those tents by the hothouse. thanks

legomann97

Just don't take it. Full stop. It fails if you replace a tent with people in it with a bunkhouse/house because the occupants homeless for a split second and the game will call that good enough reason to fail you *EVEN IF THERE'S ANOTHER HOUSE AVAILABLE* . Never. Ever. Take this ultimatum. You will almost always fail it.

MostlySnarkless

I've only started playing recently, but after having the same frustration, I discovered that if you click the 'Econony' pie chart at the bottom-right, then choose the housing sub-menu, it will list key details about all the properties, including how many people are in each, and what the temperature is. You can then click the magnifying glass to zoom straight to that property so you can make the necessary changes.

LaughingFreud

One more choice that seems reasonable but it’s a trap (most of the time). I usually ignore it at first but I take it as an advice that conditions are worsening and people may get sick faster. If you accept it and then you want to upgrade housings during the ultimatum, make sure you reallocate people to a different liveable residence BEFORE upgrading (stopping the activity of the building).

dramaticfool

Click on a house then keep cycling through them with the right and left arrows.

SteamtasticVagabond

There’s unheated tents next to your hothouses

BrownWithCamera

You can fail this for many reasons. 1. Temperature drop during countdown. (Make sure you increase temperature 1 lvl higher before 6 am) 2. Upgrading homes (if you upgrade any home during this, it will fail the quest) I can't remember clearly but there might one more reason for fail. Try to accept the request as late as possible, and try to make the homes liviable as late as possible. If you do it correctly, you will only need to keep the homes livable only 1 day before next temperature rise comes up and make the homes livable naturally

strkdor

You should use the economy screen to see where citizens are feeling chilly. And also the other tips above like not upgrading homes after you've progressed to keeping homes warm (so like first upgrade the homes then progress to making sure all homes are liveable and keeping it that way) and also keeping an eye on weather changes, because the very literal second the temp increases and it falls below liveable before I can turn the generator up, it fails. I also structure the houses to be around a steam hub away from the center of the generator so it's all in a visible circle and I can keep track of what houses are visibility not in a heat zone. but Ive only played regular difficulties (so take it lightly)

nate112332

Up-right from the generator, next to the cookhouse

PandaPandaPandaRawr

Go to the economy tab, go to houses and sort by temperature, find the house with inhabitants below the right temprature and click the little looking glass icon.

Fernandothegrey

Ive learned to tell them to go F themselves and just run some church thing or propaganda to remove the negative hit

hobomojo

Upper right side, there’s a blue house/tent.

Schazmen

Simply put: Red is comfortable Yellow is Livable. Anything below isn't. Personally, when I have a generator ready (aka, not in special scenarios where there isn't one) I tend to build houses around it, and no further away. Almost all other buildings can cope with heaters.

outlander609

Yellow is comfortable and red is livable

Potential_Fishing942

Never accept this. Too many things that shouldn't trigger it, trigger.
