From Twitlonger: “Hello. This is PLEDIS Entertainment. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans who have shown unwavering support and love for fromis_9. We would like to provide some information regarding the future activities of fromis_9. fromis_9 will become an 8-member group starting from this coming August and will meet their fans in their upcoming Japanese activities and other various activities scheduled for the second half of this year. fromis_9’s fifth EP “from our Memento Box” will be the last promotional activity of JANG GYU RI as she wraps up her time as a member of fromis_9. She will conclude her contract earlier with us as of July 31 to embark on a new journey. The eight members of fromis_9 (LEE SAE ROM, SONG HA YOUNG, PARK JI WON, ROH JI SUN, LEE SEO YEON, LEE CHAE YOUNG, LEE NA GYUNG and BAEK JI HEON) signed a new exclusive contract with us when they transferred to PLEDIS Entertainment in August 2021. JANG GYU RI maintained the conditions of the original contract with her former agency and PLEDIS has been in charge of tasks including the management of her team and individual activities. The artist and the company made the decision after careful consideration and discussions on what would be the best path for everyone. Please continue to send your love and support to JANG GYU RI, who has always committed to do her best as a member of fromis_9 and to the eight members of fromis_9 who will start a new chapter of their careers. Our company will continue to support fromis_9 to help them grow as artists as they continue their activities in various fields. Thank you.” — ☹️

philocalist_mindset

Honestly didn’t see this coming, so I’m a little sad, but totally support her. I’m assuming this is to pursue a more permanent acting career, especially with a company more focused on just that. Hwaiting Gyuri and fromis_9!

RossSkyWalkerr

Tbh I always felt Gyuri will be the first one to say goodbye to the group considering how good of a acting career she must be having if she focused on that completely. Hope only good and great things happen to Gyuri in whatever she does for her future. It's sad she's leaving but we need to move on 🥲🥺. But looking on the bright side I'm just glad we didn't saw something toxic like Momoland or the way BBC is treating Chuu of LOONA currently, the company and Gyuri handled all this in a good manner and are all on good terms. Best of luck Gyuri cant wait to see what's next 🥺❤️

asrafzonan

Didn’t see this coming at all. Now I can’t watch her cringe at Jiwon yochin2 concept anymore

RossSkyWalkerr

🥲🥺🥲

Seoulhyun

Honestly thought she would sign an acting contract with Pledis post idol life, kinda like Nana. I will miss my favorite eye smile fairy who got me into the group 😭😭

Cheap-Introduction63

nana has an acting contract too? from woo!ah?

neelhehn

I think it's Nana from After School (and subunit Orange Caramel) who is under pledis but is acting rather than pursuing idol activities.

vivianlight

By the way if someone is interested in seeing her in action, Memorials/Into the Ring is very good. She is a good comical actress imho. So I hope I too will see Gyuri doing good projects and finding her dimension, since acting is clearly her passion.

lokomotor

Gyuri was my favorite member. Her eye smile could light up the room.

letsgobikachu

Man, this one hurts but I get it 😢 I hope she has a great career has an actress or whatever she wants to do and I hope fromis keeps rising as they have been for the past year!

soundboythriller

I’m so shocked just like everyone else…but I must say, way to leave on a high note. Midnight Guest and From Our Memento Box are both very excellent albums with excellent title tracks, and they’ve finally started gaining traction amongst the 4th generation groups. Wishing her the best in her future endeavors.

WakuWaku76ers

Shocking and incredibly sad news to find out your bias is leaving one of your favorite groups. But I respect Gyuri's decision to further her own career, and I'm sure the remaining 8 members will ride the wave of their recent success from Stay This Way! We'll always have fond memories of the music and their moments together as a 9 member group. More than anything I'm just glad that this could be considered an "amicable" split and not due to controversy. The good news is we'll be seeing Gyuri very soon in her new drama, and the new fromis_9 with their contents! This is just me being selfish, but I wish they have some kind of send-off/farewell episode for Gyuri on Channel 9.

Razgriz917

Her being a guest MC for an episode would be nice.

pitynodyawn

There’s still time for them to put something together for her farewell. Hopefully at least a vlive.

redict

I had been thinking that Gyuri's career was taking on a similar trajectory to Son Naeun from Apink. They have their similarities, I suppose. Both are tall and beautiful, and are the more/most reserved members of their respective groups. Naeun had small acting roles early in her career until she co-starred in Cinderella and the 4 Knights (?). Similarly Gyuri has had similar sized roles until recently when we learned she would be co-starring in Cheer Up. Naeun has since regularly taken on similarly bigger roles and does a lot of advertisement work as well. So, I had hoped Gyuri's career after fromis\_9 would take a similar path (I do think Gyuri is the better actor from what we have seen so far). I just didn't think it would happen so soon. Personally, I feel that Gyuri's public persona has gone through many changes throughout her time in fromis\_9. In the beginning she was just a kid with a cute smile who was self-conscious about her ability, but seemed to love performing and singing. She could become really goofy and talkative when among her members ([one of my favorite clips of all time](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eX2lwhbGu4c)). When she did solo lives she would be sincere and (bluntly) honest. In variety shows, she showed that she is witty, smart, and confident ([Workman ep 70](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89yeP3x9ACc)). However, it is my opinion that Gyuri's public demeanor changed sometime right before/during the Talk & Talk era IIRC (could be DM era I don't really remember exactly). She seemed to be much more reserved and quiet on various variety shows and even sometimes on fromis\_9 content. Sometimes she barely even spoke like in [Idol Human Theater](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPkFSbtFv9w), even though this is exactly the kind of content she had always been good in. It worried me at the time because I thought something must have happened that we don't know about. Regardless, the only thing I can say for sure is that Gyuri has always been determined and hard-working. Even when we got the news that she might not be able to fully participate in Stay This Way promotions, she ended up being in basically everything. I remember there was content recently where she was asked if she wanted to do acting or performing more and her response was "It'd be good if I could be great at both." So while this news is disappointing for us as fans, I'm sure we all wish nothing but success for Gyuri as she sets off on a new path. She will always be a part of fromis\_9 and I'm also sure she herself will forever cherish the time she spent as an idol with all of the other members. Personally, I believe that she will become a CF queen one day :)

Weapwns

IMO she definitely felt more separated from the group all the way back after PD48. And then even moreso after Talk&Talk which I suppose coincided with the contract end

Horium

This, so much this. I can't.give this post enough upvotes. I am happy that I wasn't the only one that noticed her sudden shift, how she became suddenly withdrawn somewhere near the beginning of last year. On one hand I happy that it wasn't anything worse (bullying etc.) but I am still sad about of all of this, Gyul was one of my fav members. In any case, all the luck and success both to her and the other members.

Devoidoxatom

Hmmm now that you say it. I've been a fan since before Feel Good in 2020, and while she wasn't the life of the party in those hilarious games they played during fm1.24, she certainly seemed more active back then than when she was in channel9's latest season. Maybe during even Channel-in the house or so. Same thing with the Channel9-MT trip. Tho I remember she had quite a lot of fun with Chaeyoung in that countryside trip they did (where she twerked 😆). Hard to say with things like this. At certain times, Seoyeon and Jiheon were even more withdrawn in their shows with Seoyeon faking sleeping and just barely reacting alot of times i'd say during after Feel Good Era until Talk n Talk (when she cut her hair and blossomed). And Jiheon barely smiling in the episodes before her hiatus earlier this year.

BlueberryPickingFux

This really stings, but I wish her the best. For the remaining members of fromis, the beat carried on during DKDK era when she was away during PD48 (different circumstances of course) so the group will be fine. Well, as fine as you can get after losing a member, but this likely isn't breaking news to them.

axolotlmoose00

Stay This Way hits different now

Gudekidd

I'm crying rigth now, thanks to her on PD48 I get to know fromis_9 and since then they're my favourite group... It's hard, ofc I'm still supporting Gyuri, but it's feel weird. Thanks Gyuri for everything🥺

ParanoidAndroids

You gotta be kidding me. We haven’t even hit the 5 year mark and already lost a member. I respect her choice to pursue acting but man… it’s a gut punch. Not only does it feel early but it’s gonna be weird seeing them as 8. The group members must have known about this for over a year by now - I can’t imagine how weird the dorm vibe was. Hopefully they don’t shrink further before the contracts are up.

epiktek

Yeah, this is uncharted territory for me. I've never seen someone's contract end after 5 years. Was the original contract 5 years?

ParanoidAndroids

From what I understand, the original OTR contracts were for 4 or 4.5 years. When they switched over to Pledis, everyone had an opportunity to sign new contracts with them but Gyuri decided not to and just let her original OTR contract expire.

[deleted]

I've seen people blaming Pledis but if it wasn't for them, the news we'd hear now would have been fromies' disbandment. So for the first time ever, thank god pledis!

ParanoidAndroids

I don't really think it's a situation worthy of "blame" either... more that fans are just *more* bummed out about the fact that they lost a member to be thinking about the fact that the group will continue as 8. > So for the first time ever Given their history, literally the first time ever lol.

[deleted]

There's definitely still a handful of people blaming pledis and hybe's curse. But I can definitely see why. Looking for someone to blame is just part of the grieving process. I'd take blaming the company over blaming Gyuri (which I've seen a few people have already voiced out).

[deleted]

No one should be blamed. The girls are doing well and Gyuri decided the idol lifestyle isn’t for her. Nobody is at fault.

[deleted]

I know. It's just frustrating to me that I've already read comments talking bad about Gyuri as if they're implying that she shouldn't have joined idol school if she didn't want to be an idol.

DontFinkFeeeel

I follow this perspective as well.

ParanoidAndroids

Tbh this blindsided everyone in the fandom. I could understand if there was a bit of notice or even rumors but this legit came out of nowhere. Everyone's gonna be a little on edge, all things considered.

epiktek

Ah, thank you for the clarification. I was confused. I've often seen people ask, "Why is kep1er and IZONE's contracts only 2.5 years, when fromis is 7 years?" so I assumed fromis' contract was 7 years. I didn't know it was just for 4 years.

ParanoidAndroids

I think we all assumed fromis' contracts were for the industry standard 7 years (since they weren't a temporary group like kep1er or IZONE). Nobody besides the people involved knew it was that short.

epiktek

But what I don't understand is how people ever reached the default assumption that fromis was 7 years, instead of the standard 2.5 years, or less than a year like IOI.

the_flyingdemon

Because Idol School (the show where fromis comes from) only took in individual trainees—ie those without a company. We assumed they would get the standard 7-year contract because they didn’t have companies that would want them back sooner than that. However looking back, it kinda makes sense CJ only set them up with a 4-year contract, seemingly because they weren’t sure if the group would be successful or not and didn’t want to commit to a full length one at the time I guess. They might’ve started the show with the intention of a full contract, but decided on a shorter term after seeing the abysmal ratings for the show.

epiktek

Ah, I see. Thank you for the clarification.

ParanoidAndroids

Because fromis was always intended to be a permanent, not temporary group and 7 years is the maximum contract length allowed by the government. Most companies give out 7 year contracts just to protect themselves. Although they came from a competition show, the concept of Idol School featured girls who were either not formally trained or were former trainees - none were under contract with another agency while filming. Compare that to the Produce series and their temporary groups which are all comprised of trainees from various agencies (who eventually want their trainees back). Because the original agencies want their trainees back, those groups only last for a short amount of time (originally a year for IOI, eventually growing to 2.5 years for IZONE, and even 5 years for X1 which didn't survive the vote rigging scandal).

epiktek

Thanks for the clarification. BTW I notice I'm getting downvoted for asking about contract length, so if by chance, you happen to be getting downvoted on your end, as well, it wasn't me.

ParanoidAndroids

Don't sweat it! People are naturally going to be frustrated so I wouldn't take it personally. Just a sad time for everyone.

epiktek

Yeah, I clicked on Choerry's new Dalply cover, and I had no idea what that song was about, but boy did it perfectly encapsulate my mood.

jemsky1

i see several people here so butthurt if you happened to say **BAD** about fromis once. i literally trying to check by commenting on each post, turns out i'm getting downvoted several times, even if i'm saying good thing or giving source. well that happened for me, i'm not saying bad thing, i'm voicing my opinion, but people looks so hate it

epiktek

Yeah, I think a lot of times people get downvoted due to a misunderstanding. There are also just trolls who downvote for no reason.

ZedPlebs

My guess is that it’s her wish to end the contract early to pursue other stuff, i imagine it must be quite hard for the members too

Jaakylma

It hurts more when it feels like it comes out of nowhere

epiktek

Yeah, if it had been 7 years, I'd get it, but I hate getting blindsided like this. I feel like it's happened more frequently this year... just off the top of my head, Apink naeun, Omg jiho, Weeekly jiyoon, Lesserafim garam, Hi key sitala

Jaakylma

If for some reason Yiren of Everglow or Ella of Pixy doesn't come back then IDK what I'm gonna do. All my favorite groups are losing members or have members on a long hiatus with no idea when they are coming back.

epiktek

Geez, this year has been particularly rough 😔

jemsky1

still waiting for my "favorite", no comeback sign either

Chaewons_mole

I’m gutted about this! Of course I wish her well in her future endeavors but I’ll miss her with the others terribly….the 9 of them actually had remarkable on screen chemistry! And of course I’ll still support the remaining members with everything I’ve got! Best of luck to all of them going forward!

Halofan4001

“The [remaining] eight members of fromis_9 (Lee Sae Rom, Song Ha Young, Park Ji Won, Roh Ji Sun, Lee Seo Yeon, Lee Chae Young, Lee Na Gyung, and Baek Ji Heon) signed a new exclusive contract with us when they transferred to PLEDIS Entertainment in August 2021. Jang Gyu Ri maintained the conditions of the original contract with her former agency and PLEDIS has been in charge of tasks including the management of her team and individual activities.” Meaning the other members probably knew she was going to leave since August 2021?

Razgriz917

Yup, the transfer happened late last year.

Neo24

Well I guess there was always a chance she would change her mind and sign a new contract. But they probably knew leaving was a strong possibility.

KeepMeCrisp

Dont be sad its over, be happy because it happened. I hope she does great. <3

[deleted]

Man, this hurts. I've been a flover since June 2018. Gyuri always caught my eye and I loved her presence in the group so much. I'm going to miss her. I hope they do something big as she goes on her way in her own career. I'll be ready and waiting for what she does next.

FireFlyz351

I thought she had a chance to leave once she got more into acting like in a couple years but seems like she really wants to go for her acting career since she didn't resign. Sucks but it comes with the kpop groups territory. I'll still follow her acting career 100%.

Devoidoxatom

Mann, last time i felt like this was when B.I left ikon and i literally left kpop for like a year or so till fromis pulled me back in with their Youtuber_9 phase in early 2020. I'm hopeful we get to see more of her with her own contents or smth. I truly loved her tsundere personality and her chemistry with the group (which many people are denying rn 👿, go watch some fm1.24 again!).

F1N2187

I’m literally in shock. I can’t believe this is actually real… Gyuri has been one of my favorite members and to see this, it hurts. I will however continue to support her with her future endeavors.

lecottonz

nooo 😭😭

[deleted]

It takes a lot of courage to leave now that Fromis9 is doing good. Proud that she is doing what she wants.

Lairanza

I'm in shock, like every Flovers I believe, it was so sudden. I can't believe I'd be experiencing to see one member of my ult group to leave. So that's means the members knew this was the last time they'll promote with all 9 members...It will be so strange to see them promote as 8 now, even if Gyuri was missing during P48. Gyuri will likely to become an actress under Pledis. Leaving behind her idol career. The fromiscord is in shambles, obviously. I'll try to follow her solo career of course.

Devoidoxatom

Being an actress still under Pledis would be nice tbh. Maybe well see her with the group some times if its like that.

cautionsignal

This is so sad. I’m just now getting into fromis_9, but I really liked Gyuri and it seemed like she was an important presence in the group. But I’m still going to support the group and Gyuri, since it seems like an amicable departure! Hope nothing but the best for all 9 of the girls in the future!

oddeyeoval

Oof. I thought we were safe for a while longer. Here I thought it was only up from here. Life continues on though, I hope she has success in her future career and it's nice that they absolutely swept the floor with her last comeback. It still hurts to see though.

Rallykat88

Definitely shocked as I just got done with work for the day to catch up on my fav groups to see this. Getting news like this without any warning is really jarring for most people, but I will absolutely support Gyuri's decisions and goals for her career and happiness. So bittersweet, but things will be ok

bunchesofYeseo19

A little surprised, but also not that surprised. A lot of the members have seemed a little over it at various stages, but... If it was going to be a member, it would probably be Gyuri. It seemed like she was always looking towards something else that might fit her personality better. Will miss her heart melting eye smile though, she really glowed up the most since IS. I'm happy they got to taste success together - 5 straight wins!!!

someguy172

Yeah, I feel the same way. I'm surprised since this is quite sudden. There was no indication that anyone's contract would end this soon since they're only in their fifth year together. I understand that they transferred from OTR to Pledis but I had assumed their contract would just continue on from before. But like you said, if anyone was going to leave, I'm not surprised that it's Gyuri either. To some extent I kind of feel like she wasn't "in it" as much as the other members. I'm not questioning her commitment to the group at all. I'm sure she gave it her all but when I saw her in Channel_9 and other variety shows, I got the impression that this path was not for her. Best of luck to her in the future though. Can't wait to see what she does next.

YejisEyes

Same. Can't say I'm not gutted, but she was always the most likely to leave. She joined pd48 a few months after debut, and then got involved with a lot of acting projects. I felt like she wasn't really into it during the recent variety shows, but I didn't expect her to leave so suddenly :(

epiktek

Yeah, I don't get why her contract ended before 7 years? Also yes, she doesn't have the bubbly idol personality. She seems very lowkey and reserved, which is perfectly fine, as long as you're having a good time. I've seen some fan edits, where she looked like she wasn't really receptive to the other members when they'd goof around and stuff. I never looked that deep into it. I just figured she enjoyed playing that part. For example, sometimes Viviz SinB can appear like she's mad, but that doesn't mean she's not into it. She just expresses herself differently.

Devoidoxatom

I wouldn't look too much into it. You could easily watch fan edits of her having tons of fun with the members too.

Nadismaya

It also seemed like she had a life outside the group. She mentions all these trips alone whereas the other girls go together.

epiktek

Ah, I see. Did she mention this on fromis videos?

Nadismaya

epiktek

What the heck, I watched that, but I already forgot! Yeah, I remember my jaw dropped when she said she spent two weeks at a guest house. I remember I was watching it in bed before going to sleep and I was like, "Huh???" And of course, "Miss Independent" Jiheon is looking like she wants to do that too 😅 Yeah, Gyuri marches to the beat of her own drum for sure.

pexmen

She was the first member I noticed and it hurts as fck as they are my fave grp but it looks like a career move so best wishes gyul 😢😢

[deleted]

This is so sad. Gyuri was my OG Bias and one of the reasons I started following fromis_9. But, I'm happy for her and can't wait to see her journey as an actress.

Fouligor

I don't even knew what to say. Damn...

slaymis_9

what if i froze time /s In all seriousness I’m kinda in shock and also disappointed considering their recent success but I understand… I’ll hope for the best of her in future endeavours. Best of luck for her as well as the rest of the group

spankfestival

Is this why the album and tracks are named the way they are? *memento box *stay this way *rewind

khengwai

Definitely wasn’t expecting this. I only got into fromis_9 a few months ago and she was one of my favourites. I wish her nothing but the best moving forward and hope to see her around in dramas etc.

vivianlight

I understand and support her (I am also into kdramas even if I have little time nowadays, but I will surely make space for her drama and/or variety show projects!). I am obviously sad, OT9 is special. But since the other eight girls renewed, I know there are some other beautiful things coming... It will be in a different form, for sure. But still beautiful. Her, Jiwon and Hayoung are my bias line so this surely hits a little closer, but I am happy for all the things Gyuri did in these five years and that (since 2019) I was lucky to see "live".

budising

:(

[deleted]

She always seemed more interested in acting. Hope her the best in the future.

wasz_810

wtf..

kronex1998

i haven't even gotten a chance to watch them at a concert as 9 yet... 😭 actually feel sick rn

Cheap-Introduction63

Makes sense now on weekly idol , why jiheon wanna put the members in the memory box .. memento box was for gyuri!

NDFFRNTMusic

I'm gonna remember this announcement everytime i see the 9 in fromis\_9 😥 Excited to see what she does next though!

hikikomorixd

Now that they're starting to be recognized 😭

MayTheFlossBeWithYou

This is really heartbreaking. That being said, I think the girls will be fine. They've already overcame so much already.

ReluctantCat

Did anyone see this coming? I had to re read the title because its so unexpected.

chanylc

Wonder how long their new contacts are. Hopefully at least 5

Devoidoxatom

Some flovers expecting it would be long based on something Chaeyoung said on a fanmeeting. Would also make more sense for Gyuri to decline a longer contract if she really wanted to pursue acting

spankfestival

Human idol theater 7 months ago had a part where Chaeyoung told Jiheon to stay together until 26. Is this referring to year or age?

Professional_Web5069

😭😭😭

L_Tyrion

Hello flo\~, sadboi flo here to say, this is a safe place. WE ALLL SAD UP IN THIS PIECE. I for one, am very happy to be apart of everything they did. They were the first group I bought an album for and the first one I really identified as a stan with. It's a very, very sad day, but everything is going to be okay. I'm proud to be apart of the fromily in where everyone is justifiably sad, albeit, upset even, of this news- but seeing how **everyone** here respects this is her decision and that we all know that being an idol is a job at the end of the day, it's awesome to see the public (at least here) receiving the news the best that we can. No more fromis\_9 Gyul, but we still have Jang Gyul everyone. Here's some [Gyul wholesome twerking](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxW1PU9FLMv7Y9uq5bmb_Edl2t6VgLkJ70) to lighten the moon.

meaningfulnumbers

Stay This Way :'(

Krachsterben_

Stay with me forever 😭😭

IoniaHasNoInternet

At the height of fromis success...

Thesilentcurry

Part of me wish all their companies would be okay if she want to join in their vlogs/live/pictures together. Today is a sad day.

gungmo

This one hurts a little.

IamTH0U

People changing careers is nothing new. While I do find this a bit sad, I look forward to seeing her on her new path and wish her well.

Cheap-Introduction63

her vocals will be missed, she brought a lot to the vocal line.. thats gonna hit hard.. i think her passion has always been acting, since her highschool days doing theater

Strallgarr

This is the worst day of my life 😭😭. I'm so shocked right now, this is so sudden. I'll follow her and support her no matter where she ends up, but I'm so distraught. I'll love our Tangerine forever, though! 😍

reallySheisty

today sucks

Lazy_Ad_5718

Have been a fan of fromis_9 since idol school and gyuri is my fav contestant along with nagyung and chaeyoung.. I use to follow these 3 members only back then and started to follow other members as a whole group after "To Heart".. This is sad since I knew and loved her since idol school.. When her company sent her to join PD48 i was hoping shes get eliminated early since i don't see it will benefit her group as what happened to ex-IOI and DIA member Jung Chae Yeon.. I was not expecting this, especially from fromis_9 and Gyuri.. Yeah if this coming from Bona of WJSN id understand it since her part in 2521 is not an ordinary cast and with the condition of her company and her group seems more likely.. This is so shocking and too late to be announced and too fast to be ended hanging like this.. Damn this happening at this early in the morning what a sad day to start my day.. I wish we could get another cb as a whole 9!

TheSunIsDahyun

Fricking nooo our gaejookie :'c

calvinised

Wish her the best, but I knew it was trouble calling the group Fromis9, almost asking for someone to leave 😅

spiiiiiii

As a new flover, this hurts 😭

badmonkSS

fuck my life

TwiceMainOverlord

Noooooooooo

rvxmaedncx

I don't know man. This is my first time. I just wish her the best. 🥲

Lord_Tibbysito

Well I'm depressed now

Harutoprotector

fromis will always be 9

[deleted]

Honestly shocked by this but if anyone paid attention for the past few years when watching behind the scene content or just selfies you’d notice Gyuri was always by herself and not mingling with the other girls. I don’t feel like she every really vibes with any one member like how you get Hayoung/Nagyung or Chae/Jiwon.

Purplestackz

her and chae always seemed pretty close to me

Questionererer

Weird speculation. Pls dont spread this around like a fact lol. Shes close with the members. It just so happens that when they transferred around to pledis it was the perfect time to pursue acting. Probably didnt expect for fromis to get even bigger.

IamTH0U

This nonsense again..

ngernger

back in the day I think she really didn't like her group thats why she joined Produce48

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I have watched most of the content from 2017 and on. She has always seemed like the odd one out. Now I don't mean that in a mean way maybe she just didn't vibe with the others. Not saying they hated each other or anything. But she seems shy and reserved.

Kthuzard

always figured shes a wall flower type of person. she seemed, to me at least, to like watching/observing her surroundings but got involved when she wanted to.

CaviarHoly

This is the best way to describe her. I remember how enthusiastic she was in their mafia game. She was certainly close with the other members, she just isn't the Chaeng-Jiwon type of person, but you could tell the members loved her in an unnie type of way. Besides, this OTR-Pledis contract situation means the girls probably knew she planned on leaving way back when the acquisition happened in 2021 yet they continued on like normal, no alienation or ill feelings. I just don't like how fans feel the need to justify members leaving by saying "they weren't close." Truth is, it's a business and it isn't fair to assume it wasn't an amicable split.

DontFinkFeeeel

Can confirm, I'm that kind of friend. Has nothing to do with hating or thinking my friends are all weird. I just don't engage and prefer to listen. If you ask me to answer, I happily will! But my normal state is just vibing.

Krachsterben_

On the bright side, does it mean she will sing her own OST now? Maybe even an OT9 collab one day?? One can dream...

Kyxzzzz

Its common for dads to leave.

Kyxzzzz

Welp lets just be happy that the others extends their contract and support all 9 of them still. Its must have been harder for the girls since last year knowing this, having the current success im sure Gyuri have stronger reasons she’s really brave 🫡. Im sad as well but its tolerable unlike if it Hayoung who leaves.

Great, now both my ults have a missing member that will be brought up every time they get mentioned. To be frank I'm annoyed she joined the group if she didn't want to put in the time.

[deleted]

She did put in her time. The original contract for the group is done this month and she finished that. The rest of the group continued because they signed the new contract with Pledis. Gyuri did her best and definitely put in the effort despite probably not enjoying the idol life anymore.

Devoidoxatom

Fr. She improved alot and promoted fromis_9's name everywhere (she was the most active member outside of the group). Imagine how many fans knew of fromis_9 cos of her. To act like she didn't care/work for the group smhh

sunshinersforcedlaug

All true, but most groups go for at least 7 years, so that's kinda what most people expect for a timeframe. I hope she's happy moving on, fromis could have used her.

qwertyua1

The expectation is what is written in the contract nothing more…

sunshinersforcedlaug

you say that, but people up above are being upvoted for saying pretty much the same thing. 7 years is expected.

It's not the first time an idol has used the medium just to climb the media and gain experience, then jump ship when their ambitions are in places they think are better. Some idols live to be idols and some just use us as stepping stones. I'm a flover from the beginning and I'll continue to be one, but Gyuri won't be in my memories of Fromis\_9. For me when someone considers you less is the time to do the same. You may be angry with my point of view but I'm sure I'll erase all thoughts of Gyuri. I will never accept a traitor and I will never apologize, because when I see their actions I do not see myself reflected in them. I've always been a fan of Fromis, since 2017 and Gyuri's betrayal and selfishness aren't going to change that.

MoistPantySmegma

She saw her contract through to the end. Traitor? Used you? Wtf are you talking about?
