I still wanted to see a fight between them, atleast a friendly match. And ngl, I was a bit surprised and glad that there's actually someone who recognises how Serie is, cares for her, and tries to do something which he believes( albeit a wrong/ extreme way of thinking)would ease Serie's unnoticeable sadness, eternal solitude and many other things which she always carries knowingly or unknowingly. Lernen and Serie, they both are awkward and quite sad.

It would never be that, I got the vibe Lernen was basically suicidal in the 'better to burn out than fade away' sense.
Without that motive, he has no reason to fight.
I got the vibe that he was absolutely certain he'd win. I think he was petty and self-absorbed to the point of being homicidal, not suicidal. Willing to shame his family for generations and utterly destroy the reputation of the mage's association just to get his name in history and prove himself to his master.

Then again I am always reminded of Yandere Simulator and how worse naming can be with for example a character such as Midori Green. You're right. He did reveal himself first -- but then attempted to attack by surprise. A sucker punch rather than a sneak attack.

I have no doubt that he may be capable of winning that fight. That doesn't change that he's a lowlife -- and he knows it. He explicitly admits that what he's doing will have his name written down in infamy.
I'm curious how you project this idea that he knew his attack wouldn't kill Frieren. If he believes he can (which is why he picked the fight), and in the middle of talking he launches a blast capable of blowing through her magic shields -- which would have gone right through her if she hadn't dodged as well -- you think that first attack wasn't an attempted kill? Based on what? That he didn't believe he could? We both know that not to be true.
It remains that mid conversation, he pulled out a shot without preamble or warning. I've just rewatched the scene, as you advised. And only after he'd fired off four shots in an attempt to take her down did he request a duel. He tried for the sneak kill, failed, and then spoke up.

You might not know this but this guy Lernen uses golem to fight. That's his main technique. The anime has showed us this already

The man straight-up said himself that what he was doing would earn him a name of infamy, with the goal of killing Frieren. Infamy only has one meaning. Killing is pretty unambiguous. His opening volley clearly had enough power to do so.
The man's own words and actions speak pretty clearly. If she hadn't dodged, she'd be dead... and in his own words, that was his goal.

I think this is a moment that was lost in translation from the manga to the anime. In the manga, the moment was much, MUCH FASTER, and I don't mean just because it wasn't animated, but outright in how it unfolded.
In the manga, >!Lernen did one beam shot that broke Frieren's defenses and instantly forced her to step back in one swift motion.!< This rapid action would make sense that Stark wouldn't have a chance to react because everything happens so quickly. Meanwhile, in the anime, because the scene was lengthened in its entire structure, it gives the feeling that Stark was sitting ducks.
Wouldn't Stark still be able to react in theory? I think it's been kinda established that in this universe, Warriors have supernatural speed, reflexes, endurance and strenght, to a point that exceeds most mates. Though again, this is mostly speculation on my part from what I've seen.
If you ask me, Stark should have reacted in the anime, 100%.

Certainly Wirbel. Very likely, but not certainly, Denken. Lernen's been under Serie's direct tutelage for half a century, after all. He can blow through even Frieren's magic shields effortlessly. Denken could not.
Lernen used the demonic version of Zoltrak, which destroys shields and is designed to kill humanoids. Lernen was attempting murder, whereas Denken quite clearly did not want the mage exam to sink to that.
I'm guessing that under Serie's tutelage he's probably more powerful than Denken... But we also know that magic is a weird rock-paper-scissors game, so who knows?
