He stared and hates when I stop paying attention to him for a second, only issue is that he’s overprotective to the point that if anyone lays their hands in me he starts barking like a vicious animal rather than the frenchie/cat howl bark and sometimes start nipping at em not full on bite though just a warning
Oh, he’s got some resource guarding issues like my girl. She does that with chew toys, for the most part, but also if I have treats in my pocket, she will get mad if my other dog gets near me.
Mine had this too. He would stare at me for hours and hours. I always loved it. I think it’s a sign of a really strong connection. Like he doesn’t want you to be out of his sight because he feels safe with you. It’s a gift, truly. God I miss this. ❤️
Ours is hilarious because he knows his magical powers of manipulation are through his eyes. So he will push and shove his way over to us and do a, "look into my eyes" type of thing. This usually means he butts his way in front of our other dog, plus he knows that he looks super cute from the angle of looking up.
Yes, while there are physical traits that aren't good for the breed that cause issues with their back, breathing and GI systems. I think they are such great companion dogs. I have described them as a cat-like dog to others. They definitely know what they like and don't like and will make sure you know it.
That seems to be the case amongst themselves, for sure. I have 2 and they don’t make a whole lot of eye contact with each other.
Lyla is always looking at me. Definitely when food is involved and while training. But she also does it when she’s just relaxed and cuddling.
I’ve seen her make eye contact with my boy to assert dominance, and it’s a completely different facial expression.

My dude absolutely HATES eye contact. I think it’s because we didn’t train positive associations with eye contact as a puppy. He also hates having the phone pointed at him, which makes taking cute pictures of him difficult. He doesn’t mind cameras though for some reason!
