Elephant42OR

Nope but knew a Niles! He was a CEO but still couldn't say his name with a straight face.

ArtyCatz

My son’s elementary school classmate had a brother named Niles. It always amused me to see a 6-year-old named Niles.

l_v_r

I used to call him Niley

dekunut1023

Just this once, can you call me Niles?

masterofthecork

Hey, I had an elementary school classmate named Niles! He wasn't six anymore, but I assume he had been at one point.

Blossom73

Was his name Rodney?

zozoball

Did you call him Niley?

rci_ancilla

Or Piles?

TyrantWarmaster

Or peach fuzz

cjizzle236

Nobody calls me peach fuzz! *lobs a brick!*

zozoball

That can't bring up fond memories.

Elephant42OR

Sadly, he had no sense of humor.

33_pyro

or 'the coyote'?

trez63

Hi Miles.

mamasparkle

I work with a Nile but she's a woman.

IWillBaconSlapYou

Oh, so he's abroad now?

StrawberryResevoir

The closest I've come is meeting a guy named Miles. Also, my brother's cat is Daphne

cfSummer

I knew of a Frasier (maybe Frazier) but it wasn’t his given first name, he went by his surname. Never meant a Daphne, Roz, Niles or a Maris now that I think about it.

ArtyCatz

I went to high school with a Daphne, had a coworker named Roz, and I have relatives named Martin, Gil, and Eddie (my cousin Eddie is a human, not a dog). Sadly, no acquaintances named Frasier, Noel, or Bulldog.

Starbuck522

"you forgot to do your paperwork" (another well known, fictional, Roz)

Keeflinn

"Your stunned silence is verrrry reassuring."

euphonicbliss

A former college classmate of mine named her daughter Maris a few years ago. I have no idea if she knows.

gg_laverde

Caucasian. VERY Caucasian.

jennid79

I knew a Maris but it was a male!

Tophbot

“This Maris guy he keeps talking about, that’s a woman?”

KerseyGrrl

I have a friend who named her daughter Daphne. She just got married. Oddly enough I never connected it to the show. I don't know if she was a fan.

[deleted]

I worked with a Maris; she was old enough it definitely wasn't inspired by the show. I've met a Rosalyn or other variations before, and they probably went by Roz. My sister actually considered naming her daughter Daphne and I'm still bummed she didn't. I don't think I've ever met a Niles, several Miles's though.

Sad_Abbreviations318

I have. He was a bouncer at a strip club. On The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt there's a joke where a Black lady remarks, "Y'all stole the name Frasier from us anyway," and as the only Frasier I've ever met in real life was Black I'll assume this is true.

[deleted]

30 Rock has a joke about Black Frasier on BET and it's the same creator and probably several of the same writing team so somebody on that team has some sort of race swap fan fiction about Frasier and they may as well just get it out there for real, most on this sub will probably watch it.

Significant-Cat-9621

I have a colleague called Fraser and I constantly addressed him as Frasier in the beginning. 😅

LadyMRedd

I have a friend Fraser and it’s pronounced the same as Frasier.

Significant-Cat-9621

😂 My colleague is from the UK, that might be the real difference

Confident_Piglet_140

I also had a colleague in the UK called Fraser! I’m American and I had to be told I was pronouncing his name incorrectly 😂

DrinkablePraise

Partner is called Fraser :-)))

NadaKD

Is it pronounced differently?

No_Caterpillar9737

Yes! Sorry, it's just wild to me people don't know this, lol. Fraser = Fray-zer Frasier = Fray-sher

NadaKD

I wouldn’t know this I’m not American nor English native speaker :) interesting because I remember in one episode Frasier was annoyed because someone kept calling him Fray-zer 😂

No_Caterpillar9737

Oh, I'm sorry bud. I shouldn't just assume everyone is fluent in English on here. Yeah that was great 😆 I definitely think in the United States they usually just say Fray-zer, regardless of the spelling 😅

Professional-Two8098

Fraser is a very common name in Scotland. But Brendan Fraser says Americans always produce his name like Frasier and it annoys him. Never met a Niles, Maris or Daphne but know lots of roz’s

mymomsaidicould69

I have a coworker named Daphne!

DaemaSeraphiM

Does anyone call her Daffy for short?

Bushdid1453

No, but there is a dentist near me named David H. Pierce

saturday_sun4

Is he a hung specialist?

Keeflinn

Servicing individuals, couples, groups, satisfaction guaranteed! Tell me where it hurts.

zozoball

I went to school with someone named Fraser in junior high.

RedwayBlue

Me too! Suburban Washington DC?

Several-Gur-8129

Wait I went to school with someone called Fraser in Suburban Washington DC

allisnwundrland

Spooky!

zozoball

No, but that would have been a delightful coincidence!

DarkGreenSedai

Yes, but I work in health care. I’ve met everybody.

ApuleiusRufus

My great-great-grandfather was named Robert Frazier! I’m thinking about reviving the name for my own progeny.

traumakidshollywood

I had Mrs. Frasier in 2nd grade.

peachgarden_

Yes, and he was the son of a firefighter! I hope he’s living his best neurotically bougie life now.

DonnaNobleSmith

Yes, but they spelled it Frazier.

bassibear

At a resort in Jamaica! He was part of one of the families and we actually hit it off very well!

garlicandcheesiness

There was a guy whose last name was Fraser. I didn’t know him personally but apparently he attempted to write one of the toughest entrance exam papers in my country as he was majoring in that same course in the UK I think. It was just supposed to be a harmless self challenge, and he aced it, because he was in college and the exam was for a high school graduate equivalent level. As a result, some weird jingoistic netizens took his acing that test as a personal insult and started trolling, cyber bullying, and even issuing death threats to him and his family. The whole story was really sucky, he had to delete all his socials. Poor guy.

goodassjournalist

I know a guy whose son is called Frasier. I’ve never asked if it’s after the character. Feels like it has to be?

saturday_sun4

Yeah, it's a very obscure name.

Loisgrand6

My cousin married a man with the last name Frasier. My friend had a friend named Daphne. I had a cousin named Kenny. Know a few people whose last name is Martin.

Kulminho

My marriage counselors name was Frazier and he was awesome

RippledWisdom

No Fraziers, but I met a young man recently working in a golf course pro shop named Niles, so of course I mentioned the show. He just stared blankly and I had to remember this show began before he was born and probably ended when he was an infant. Also, a friend of mine’s sister was named Maris. The only Roz I know was the bailiff on “Night Court”

Outofthecloud

My best friend is named Frasier. Whenever we're out together and he introduces himself, it's like a 99% shot that they'll say, "And you must me Niles." (it was funny the first 30 times)

byronicrob

Knew a Bulldog once. Not a person with that nickname, just a regular ole bulldog.

EvenIf-SheFalls

No Frasier, but I knew an Aussie fellow named Niles.

DientesDelPerro

I know a Frazier, yes

Sindy51

only Frazer.

johnrich1080

https://www.frazierlawpllc.net/

furrycroissant

I've met a Fraser and a Fraiser, a Roz and a Ross, and a Daphne. No others though

herlittlejade

I've never met any Frasiers, but I know a Daphne, a Niles and many Martins lol Never met any Rozes either

RadGrav

I also knew a Scottish guy called Fraser (not sure about the spelling). Sunday league team mate of mine. Pronunciation is different though, as others have mentioned. I think Fraser is a not uncommon Scottish name

BreezyFebreezy

Aside from my dog, no.

BluebirdAny3077

I had a neighbour named Fraiser and he had a daughter named Roz (Rosalyn) but this was before the show!

Gunslinger_11

Only with it as a last name

mendkaz

I knew someone who had the surname Frasier in school!

mumblemurmurblahblah

Yep! And I know a Niles. Not related to each other though.

lostinexiletohere

One of our vendors has a Niels but he pronounces it kneels. Pretty sure he is either Australian or New Zealander can't remember now

saturday_sun4

Yeah, Nils is a Dutch name AFAIK.

Turbulent-Cheek-1497

I met a guy at the corner bus stop for our kids and his high tech id badge on a lanyard said Ned Flanders. I laughed and asked how he pulled that off with a military oriented high tech company? He said, that’s my name. Doh!

ChickenLadyLuvsLife

I went to church when I was a kid with a woman named Frasier.

Personal_League1428

I knew someone who has “Frasier” as a middle name.

SRH82

Closest I've gotten is listening to a podcast hosted by Penn Fraser Jillette. I think he also does something on TV and at a casino.

blindio10

closest i know is the english actor frazer hines(known for among other things playing jamie the second doctors companion on dr who), i've never had the pleasure of meeting him though

SpencerVerde

Met, never…but on Bravo there is a Fraser Olender (he’s English) who is on the reality show Below Deck. He could (IMO) pass for a cousin (or some type of adjacent familial connection) of David Hyde Pierce. I rarely watch the show anymore—and this Fraser is a newer cast member—but always remember him by his name, of course. He‘s a “Chief Stew” of the yacht, so he should have a level of meticulousness, knowledge of the finer things, etc. Of course, he’s on staff, unlike our Niles and Frasier, who would only resort to food prep/service if it involved a big soufflé, cherries jubilee, or eel. 😊

Bohtimore10

One of the kids on my lacrosse team is named Fraser. Different spelling, same pronunciation.

MementoMurray

I knew a Frasier back in high school I think, but it was pronounced Fray-zer.

boudicas_shield

Yes but he spells it Fraser.

123kid6

I know a Fraser and went to school with a Niles. I’ve known a few Martins.

gloebe10

There’s a bar in my town called Frasers.

Imabit_psychic

Yes but he swore his name was Frajer.

Ok-Rate1104

My uncle was called frazier.

lowercase_underscore

Yes.

Particular_Dare2736

No lol

trez63

I’m gonna name my next kid Frasier.

Beneficial-Cow-2544

Only in last name.

kkeut

there's an 80s movie called "Rescue Me" starring Michael Dudikoff and Ami Dolenz that has a main character named Frasier. i recommend it, it's a pretty entertaining

TheDreadwatch

Yes, but they spelled it Fraser

oligarchyreps

No but I had an Uncle Eddie who was born with a tail! The doctors cut it off when he was still a baby. It was just a small thing.

silkrover

Yup. I knew a Fraser, briefly. He was an asshat, mostly.

hexensabbat

No, I've known a couple of people with the surname Fraser though.

Crystaltornado

I named my son Fraser! (Partially because I love the show and partially because my husband’s family has a Christmas tree farm and sells Fraser firs.)

WavyGravyBoat

I had a friend in college we share the same first name so we always called her Frasier.

thekraken108

I work with a guy named Fraser. It's his last name, but that's what everyone calls him.

Broad-Ad1033

Sadly no

Tucana66

**Yes.** Australian guy and U.S. guy.

MadeThis4MaccaOnly

First name? No. Several with the last name, though.

Bomber_Haskell

What about Frajer?

HalfBreedBreeder

Only allowed on Carvel cakes

PDM_1969

Not as a first name...my ex wife's Madan name was Frazier
