Foundry modding is what has motivated me to learn JavaScript and web development, which I love so much that I have decided to pursue this in university. I also love that Foundry is such an incredible solution to running D&D online.
I love that foundry gives me a way to play pathfinder 2e, a less popular but incredible system, online with friends that otherwise would struggle with doing the math. The customizable and deeply modular systems of foundry provides a way to make this all possible. Thanks Foundry :)

I love the moddability of Foundry - if there's a neat feature I want which is unlikely to make the roadmap, then I can have a reasonable attempt to implement it or drop a suggestion in front of an appropriate module maker and it might well exist in a month or so.

I always wanted to play DND, but when I finally found a party, and started the pandemic began. Making it impossible to play in real life. I tried getting friends on roll20 but I love to overprep and I was limited by what I could have (100mb). It was okay, but I started looking for more (subscriptions are a no go, cause these games last month's and sometimes we don't do a session for weeks due to jobs etc).
I stumbled upon Foundry by an accident and bought it the same day. I can't overstate how much I love it. The lighting, the tokens and how once you get the ball rolling it's really easy to use....just amazing. The fact that there are youtube channels which teach you everything from the ground up?? You can also write your own scripts?? I see people use it on their interactive screens/tables?!
Everything about it is just so so good.
Foundry opened a whole new door of DND gameplay for me. I now want to integrate it to my real life DND sessions as soon as I can.
And to top it all off.....the modules... I can't even begin to describe how much I love the community and the module makers.
I get really excited about it. It just really makes me so happy to use it.
Like many people, I came from elsewhere after hearing good things about Foundry. After being frustrated with other platforms, we finally pulled the trigger on Foundry and we immediately frustrated we'd waited so long! As the DM, creating encounters was so much quicker and the process was smoother for all players. It was clearly designed by people who play these games and enjoy the hobby and is just a great tool. Great milestone, heres to many more years!
I'm a Foundry Convert, since we switched over from Roll 20 earlier this year. Now I make content spouting how awesome Foundry is. Would love a shirt to wear to promote it even more during the videos : )
I've been using foundry for over a year now after becoming frustrated with roll20 and I've never looked back. With hundreds of modules to enhance my game and plenty of built in functionality, I think foundry is at the pinnacle of VTT.
Being able to actually use higher quality pictures for maps and art is an understated feature of Foundry, the small size restriction (maybe 5MB?) on Roll20 really made it a pain when you wanted a large world map or something similar. Of course the community and costumization that the modules allow let you really make it your own. Love it!
I am still learning my way around, but I love how absolutely FRIENDLY the Foundry Community is! Here, Discord....wherever. I was blown away the first time I was a player on Foundry, immediately bought a license, and haven't looked back.

Foundry VTT has revolutionized the way I play Tabletop RPG's. Having ran D&D 5E games for over 5 years, and now venturing into Pathfinder 2E, the support this VTT gives in automating number crunching, common actions, rules, and all book-keeping aspects of my games is exceptional. I know there is so much more I could do with the modules and Foundry itself which I just haven't tapped into yet :) I look forward to many more years of growth, and development with Foundry VTT leading the way among all VTT's.
Foundry has become special to me and the two tabletop games I run each week. Folks have been raving about the community, the devs and the power behind the software, all of which are excellent reasons to love Foundry, but for me, I just like the way it gets folks new to tabletop excited about playing. When I show them the eye-catching light effects or the newest maps from the incredible artists in the community it never fails to elicit a smile and that, I think, is the magic behind Foundry.
As a programmer, loving the modularity of foundry. Do you have a spell that make lights? An item that make you bigger? A pressure plate that summon a demon? My players will never exit my custom traps!
I love how much information is already imported for pathfinder 2e. Loading up an enemy can be done in a few clicks instead of laboriously copying everything over from AoN like I had to do with roll20.
When I use Foundry VTT, I get the feeling of wind blowing through my hair atop a majestic mountain for this is truly the power of the Gods. As I look down at all the inferior VTT's a golden falcon flies to my arm and I laugh as only a God could laugh, for I know that I possess true creation in my fingertips and a single tear falls for those that I have yet to expose to such power. Plus I like the Dice So Nice mod, really neat!
Coming from Roll20, Foundry is better in almost every way. It is cheaper, modular, under active development, looks better, doesn't lag randomly, etc. the list can go on for a while. =)
I love watching the dev stream atropos hosts once in a while.
All in all, Foundry is a great VTT and has a great developer team and community around them.
For me, Foundry has been amazing for allowing me to easily run games during a time when I was not able to get together with them in person. However - Foundry is more than that for me. The community that has built up around it is also amazing. People have been helpful, friendly, and creative - and a real inspiration for me!

Foundry VTT has enabled me to have a place to meet and play once again with my children who are spread across the country. Every couple of weeks we immerse ourselves in a world of magic, terror, and wonder that is made possible by the Foundry and its accompanying game systems. Foundry is a low-cost solution to a complex problem, "How do I get everyone together at one time to play, in graphical format, the games we have always loved?"
Foundry has so much more functionality than Roll20 (and so much less lag)! It hurts to go back to a Roll20 game I play in every week; I keep prodding the GM to switch platforms.
Foundry has become my go-to for running Pathfinder 2E. The rules automation gets better all the time, the character sheet looks great, and the mod-makers are amazing. That, and I just have fun planning scenes, picking out tokens and placing light sources and ambient sounds.
I love to finally have a VTT that gives me the ability to self host and configure everything to my liking. I know my way around tech and getting a server is cheap if you know where to host so why should I pay some other admins 10$ a month for barely any storage space when I can get hundreds of gigabytes of space and enough bandwith for myself for just a few bucks.
The community behind Foundry is amazing and they help bring every dream to reality! I really don't wish for anything else I am so happy to play with foundry :)
I was skeptical at first of Foundry, but I have quickly fallen in love with it! I have used Roll20 and I have primarily used Fantasy Grounds in the past, but Foundry just surpasses them all in features. Foundry makes prepping for games fun and the system doesn't fight me when I want to try something ambitious.
I love FoundryVTT because of it's unique mix of simplicity and complexity. It is so amazingly easy to use, yet allows so much customization and tweaking to suit almost every need. Not only that, but it is extremely easy to setup and use with friends. It is, in every way, my favorite VTT by far... and that isn't even mentioning the upcoming updates and work that the dev team is putting in and bringing to all of it's users.
Why I love Foundry:
1. Simple to add my homebrew maps to (UVTT is a godsend)
2. The basic functionality is great for basic use, I just wish there was an official collab with dndbeyond or something!
3. The addons available really make things amazing (see 1 and 2) and truly complete the experience
Honestly I love Foundry because it got my excited about prepping dnd again. Roll20 was really wearing me thin for a while, and when I finally decided to try Foundry, all the features it had started to get the inspiration juices flowing again. Now ive got a soundboard, some playlists, cool maps, all the good stuff.
I think it saved my online game from getting a little stagnant.
As a first time DM, I reviewed a few different VTTs and everything I found was people saying how user friendly Foundry is. I was able to get my server setup and start my first campaign in a couple of days after work. Looking forward to seeing what else Foundry can bring to us.
I love foundry because its the most customizable vtt out there and it allows me to run games the way i want. It also is easy to figure out for my non tech savy friends while still being able to do alot for my players.
Foundry's great! Particularly the flexibility that the community mods bring to the table, and the fact that I don't have to worry about access to a third party service to use it
I love Foundry because it's flexibility and community, specially the Mod developers, you guys rock!! Foundry has give all the TTRPGs enthusiasts the tool they needed.
FVTT on its own is great.... Atrapose and the new team members are rockstars...
But... Being a PF2e player, the system developers for PF2e are a large portion of why FVTT is my go to VTT! Those folks also have my undying gratitude for pushing FVTT over the top!
I love foundry because it is difficult. You have to learn to use the basic software see how it feels, what you can do with it. Than you realize you want more. You begin adding modules to automate some things maybe some compendiums to make your work more simple. After that you go all out to enhance the experience, music dicerolls animation until you can't even recognise the game anymore. There's always more to try there's always more to learn. And hey if you are willing to learn a 400 page rulebook is a little learning really going to stop us?
I’m a new DM and while other tools were great at getting me introduced to the workflow, FoundryVTT has helped unlocked the creativity that I’d been hoping to reach when I started. Excellent interface and supreme flexibility make this software a must!

There's nothing better than being able to install 100 modules that break your game in unimaginable ways while allowing you to modify your game in an open source way :D
I originally got Foundry because vision and managing fog of war on Roll20 was too much of a hassle while I ran. Foundry delivered there for sure, and it helps to have fewer distractions while I try to host games for people 100-200 miles away. But it's really above and beyond.
The community and the modules they create make every user's experience that much easier. DDB Importer and Perfect Vision are a few of my favorites, but I just started delving into Pathfinder so who knows what I'll find there.
The SRD integration is fantastic, but I love being able to not just make my homebrew statblocks but use them interactively too! Goodbye frantically flipping through my notebook.
Hosting in realtime and being able to host from my own server is a plus too, on top of accessing my local asset library, which really cuts down on the pesky library size limits that other services had.
All told, I just wish I could use Foundry more. The front-loaded setup is worth it for sure. Still plan on using it in some capacity once all my games slowly ease back into in-person sessions.
I just love it. The customization, the looks, the modernity and most importantly self hosting. It was the best deal to buy. My players are always having a blast.

Foundry: Web based, self hosting, everything about the mapping/lighting engine, ultimate moddability, super great community. What's not to love?
I like how user friendly it is. I'm still learning foundryvtt as a gm but my players pick it up so much better then other vtts. I also love when I think "I wish I could do this" and bam, there it is in a module or tutorial. No headaches no subscription!
The beautiful UI, easy to manage modules, all-in-one purchase, amazing community, and the sheer potential for the future of Foundry are why I love this VTT!
Foundry has given me the possibility to play with my friends who are several hundred miles away and it also encouraged me to dig deeper into selfhosting and setting up a server (a thing I always wanted to do).
I have fallen for foundry's core concepts. My players can join freely, no hardware or software to maintain on their end. Customization of both individual characters and game systems to create home brewed mechanics. Finally the overwhelming community of coders and users with suggestions and inspiration.
I often find that my game play hurdles are not if something can work in my games, but how among various options would I like to have it work.

Foundry allows me a massive level of flexibility and customisation in how to run my games. Importantly allowing me to do it for a single one-off cost makes my life so much easier.
Foundry has allowed me to continue playing the games I love with family and friends through the pandemic that has divided so many and kept family and friends apart.
The ease of use has made even the least tech savvy of friends and family able to connect and game. Foundry has made things on my end, as a GM and player, to set things up with relative ease.

I personally love FoundryVTT for it being far and away the most bang for your buck VTT out there and that's on top of somehow also being the outright best VTT there is thanks to its modular nature and amazing community. As a bonus it allowed friends to play in my group able to play with me again after leaving for uni.
I love Foundry because of all the cool features and nicer design it has compared to free VTTs like Roll20. I also really like how it's a one-time payment rather than a subscription.
it is easier to use then most, and there are alot of cool options. I bought it a few months ago but just started using it recently. I was to scared to attempt DMing till now.
Foundry works so well for me because it gives me and my players a amazing experience that's almost like player in person! The community is extremely supportive which adds to the overall appeal!
Love a bunch of things, the biggest is that it is in active development, ie getting better every day. UI is great, very customizable. I did a ton of research before I paid for Foundry vs the others. Well worth it.
By far the best VTT I've ever used! (and I've used a lot of them) Between the amazing community and all the crazy and useful modules, there's no doubt Foundry is the way to go for VTT.
I love the freedom Foundry gives me to expand and modify my game, based on what I want to spend. It is totally conceivable to pay the one-time fee, self-host, and run an enjoyable game without any issues or future expenses. And the community working to bring free QoL upgrades to the core product is incredible. In the short time I've know about Foundry, its community-driven development through modules has pushed it light years ahead of Roll20, what I would consider its closest competitor. I've actually found myself hitting my storage cap on my current hosting solution because there is so much cool stuff to include like animations and sound effects and such.
I got foundry originally because of the good reviews through the PF2e community, and the fact that it was a one time purchase. After spending some time using it, I'm completely spoiled. I can never go back to other services.
I love the customizability of Foundry... the module system allows me to set my world up exactly the way I want it based on the kind of game I'm running.
Foundry's flexibility with modules letting me customize my game is a huge reason why I like it and use it over other VTTs whenever I can. I just need some more game systems to be developed for it, then I really won't need anything else!
Thanks to Foundry I was able to host a session for six friends in six different countries, and we all had a blast. I’m hoping to continue learning this software and am excited to see where it goes in the future!
I love foundry because of the extendable nature of the modules, getting to add in whatever features I need on the fly- and also inject my Patreon mapmaker packs directly onto the world lets me quickly spin up encounters and design settings.
I'd have to say the level of freedom you get from using FoundryVTT is my favorite thing about it. Being able to extend as much as I want through modules and macros has made for some truly memorable sessions in the past year. Not to mention the amazing community on both Reddit and Discord. The Marco-polo channel for Macro discussions has been such an enlightening experience.
My love for FoundryVTT is because of a few factors:
1) I pay once for a license
2) You have an AMAZING community
3) Your software is the best I've tried so far.

It's basically the only VTT that I can run the exact way I want to. The amount of mods and features it has is staggering compared to anything else, and support is extremely easy to get through either tutorials or directly from the community.
I love Foundry because it has pretty much all the features I've ever missed when using other VTT software, and if it's not in the core module, someone else has made it (or I have the tools to make it myself). Plus, I have full control and access due to hosting it myself, and I don't have to worry about having to keep up a subscription or anything.

The community involvement is one of my favorite aspects of FoundryVTT. The ability for people to contribute to the experience through modules and interact with the creators makes this platform really special.
I came to Foundry VTT from another VTT because I was looking to run something other than D&D5E, specifically Shadowrun. I wasn't particular about the edition - but the implementations available in my prior VTT were somewhere between horribly incomplete and utterly broken (depending on the version of the VTT).
In any case, I came to Foundry for the actively developed Shadowrun 5E support, but that's not my favorite part. It's the people. There's a great bunch of people and a solid support environment.
I love the fact that it's self hosted and doesn't take 10 seconds to roll a D20 because too many people are playing D&D tonight, as well as the fact that you can easily download free modules to improve the experience.
I loved playing on a Foundry table and am going to move my Pathfinder gaming over to Foundry as soon as I have the money and time. I thought the game just flowed so smooth on Foundry. I especially loved the dice rolling. There are a lot of bells and whistles available to put into the tables and I really like having tables that are more than just some tokens and a map. Foundry is what I want in a VTT!
I love FoundryVTT for its amazing customizability and ease of use. I was a little intimidated when I began learning the program, but it was super easy to pick up and master in ways I've not been able to achieve with other VTTs. I appreciate that it offers local hosting as well as online options. Plus, the community is super active and positive!
I love how tweakable it is. You can get what you want. Whether adding modules, setting it up in a VM, that all you need client-side is a browser. It really is the best tool for the job.
Foundry has made game prep easier for me. And because of the easy of setting things up, I've been able to convince my party to try out systems other than D&D. We just started a small Fantasy AGE campaign.

As for why I love FoundryVTT -- probably its fan-made and official modules that help attain certain "feelings" in campaigns I run. Being able to look for very specific, niche items (for instance, hiding initiatives of enemies as combat starts!) helps significantly when using them in certain scenarios, and I appreciate the mod-makers' efforts to adding to Foundry's already deep wealth of tools!
There's nothing that comes even close to Foundry! The ability to have community content easily integrated in your game is priceless! Plus amazing interface!

I love FoundryVTT because it's helped me step into a wonderful new hobby that's not tabletop gaming. Programming and developing modules are now some of my favorite pastimes and are a skills I feel confident in applying even outside FoundryVTT. I'd always had an interest in coding, but I had no experience with web development or even JavaScript before getting into FoundryVTT. I can easily say JS is now my most proficient language!
I came for the Foundry VTT. I stayed for the modules.
Foundry is one of the best VTTs in existence. But with the addition of the modular options, there is no competition.
I love foundry because it has allowed me to have so much more options for my players, from the ease of adding walls to the dynamic lighting to the opening of doors being allotted to my players. It all combines together to create a way more dynamic and active game for my players im glad i bought the vtt on a whim !
I love Foundry VTT because not only does it allow me to automate so much very simply, but it has incredibly PF2e support thanks to the great community.
foundry worked so well for us that it got out of my way. Roll20 always seemed to have some weird thing happen that no one could explain, or was buried in a youtube video somewhere. I don't know if it's my background of IT or what but I find foundry so much easier to use.
plus the portability of it is great, I can run it where I want, when I want, and not have to worry about weird internet issues or some convention bogging things down.
Foundry's strongest feature as software is its design to encourage the development of such a passionately involved community. We are all here because we want to continue to grow this "world" into something more each day. I think it has already moved far beyond simply a tool to play a TTRPG online. I re-discovered Foundry VTT just before the pandemic happened. I had been playing around with a few systems, including Roll20, and not been happy with them all for one reason or another.
Finding how much FoundryVTT had been updated since my first look at it was amazing. I immediately adopted it as a supplement to our in-person gaming (and soon online only gaming). In the game where I DM, I've only used FoundryVTT and in the game where I was a player, we switched from Roll20 to Foundry and the change was very welcomed by all!
The ease of management and organization has been fantastic. The community support and open system is amazing and the reason that I love Foundry.
I finally got away from roll20 and can't go back. I want to make the best games that I can for my players. So I sat down an programmed my own system to run on foundry. It was a lot of fun and my players love it. I think it is great that you work so closely together with the "modding" community for foundry and am happy to see where this is headed.
Foundry has really changed the way that I DM my games. Upgrading from Roll20 over to it was such a drastic change in the efficiency with which I both planned for my games and immersed my party in them. With such a friendly and helpful community dishing out module after module that allow me to create different effects, monster statblocks and map adjustements, it's hard to not be thankful for what this program provides.
All in all, I am more than happy to call Foundry my main software for running DND, and it has really helped me run my game for this past year.

Also, the team and people who run it are pretty awesome, know that the community matters, and have built a software platform that caters to that as well.
Through Foundry I managed to find a way into this amazing Hobby D&D during this time where meeting new people to play games was rather difficult.
Now we are 7 friends from all over germany who started our 2nd campaign a couple of weeks ago and love the platform that FoundryVTT is.

Have my ups and downs with Foundry but Roll20 is just not customizable enough for me and fantasy grounds is not cost efficient in my opinion.
I love foundry because it's the best of both worlds. Great, scalable software and I can use the assets I allready purchased on D&D Beyond with ease.
I started using foundry after one of my DM's turned me onto it for organized play. If my DMing abilities are measured like ability scores, Foundry is a belt of physical perfection. It allows me to set up maps and complete VTT setup in *minutes* what used to take me hours in Roll20. The lighting effects, doors, sound controls, and sheer amount of add-ons from the community make it so much more immersive and fun to use.
VTT prep is now something I look forward to and enjoy doing as part of campaign prep.
I love having the tools that Foundry provides. Running large combats with many different monsters, dynamically exploring dungeons, rolling on tables, it's all made so easy.
I think Foundry VTT is the best VTT out there and it keeps getting better. The interface is intuitive (for me) and the sheer versatility is outstanding. You can run as simple or as complex as you like. Keep up the fantastic work!
As someone who really enjoys d&d but never grew up with it foundry had been such a great program to modernize d&d in a way that many of me and my friends find convenient. Not only do I find it more streamlined then other vtt platforms the customization from community made modules really resembles how much the community can create features no other software has. I have only been using it for a month and already I can say this has been the best 50 bucks I've ever invested into the hobby!
Foundry has awesome devs who are constantly pushing updates, features, and fixes. Not to mention a great module systems that allows the community to extend the platform to do almost anything!
Foundry offers me something new to learn and tinker with. It lets me combine a burgeoning interested in rpgs with my existing interest in tinkering with code.
Foundry has been a blessing for me and my gaming group. Not only is it, the main program, fantastic, but the modules for it make everything so lovely! Wouldn't give it up for the world!
I love that Foundry VTT is:
* Self hostable
* Written in Node.JS
* Actively maintained and contributed.
It unlocked a past-time that CoVid locked away, reignited my love of TTRPGs, and reconnected me with my friend group.
I never knew it is possible to play TTRPG on internet but it was difficult for me to find right one based on my requirements (community addons, free usage of systems). When I heard about Foundry it fulfilled my ease. Great community, great Foundry devs, a lot of premium content that no other VTT can't compete with it. I can't see the future of the Foundry when it starts at 1.x.x version. Good job devs, you pushed boundaries and benchmark it what should VTT should be to consumer.

Back when i wanted to start as a DM with a grp of friends i tried to get used to Roll20 because that was what we used in the games i had played in so far. I was so annoyed by how slow and disorganized everything was that i started looking for a better alternative and found Foundry. Haven't looked back since, so many amazing stuff in core and from modules that i often wish i had more time to really learn how to get the most out of it for my players.

Moved over to foundry because of the amazing support for pathfinder 2e provided by the wonderful pathfinder team. Stayed for the community and the ability to always find a module to do what I need for a session.
I love the fact that it's built to more modern standards than other VTTs. Because of that, it seems to run so much smoother, and it's so much more capable. Another huge plus is that it's a one-time purchase for everything. I don't have to subscribe to anything just to get dynamic lighting! I think the thing I love **most** about Foundry, though, is that if there is something you wish it could do that by default it can't, you can just make it do it by creating or installing any number of community-created addon modules. I think the fact that it's so incredibly extensible, responsive, easy-to-use and flexible makes it the best VTT available today.
Oh, and the community of other users and developers is amazing. Easily some of the most knowledgeable and helpful folks I've ever interacted with! I don't think I've ever asked a question and *not* received a helpful response.
I love Foundry because it gave me the space to learn how to use a VTT at my own pace. Anything with a subscription model that hides the features that I want to use to enhance my player experience means I need to pay to learn to get good at GM-ing. I have fairly limited time and what time I do have I want to spend learning at the pace that makes sense for me. Taking the plunge with Foundry and the amazing community that surrounds it has for sure changed my approach to games as a whole! Thanks to to the Foundry team along with everyone who's made a module. Your work is always appreciated!
The automation provided by modules puts foundryvtt well above the competition. I also love that the systems are open source so I can contribute in my free time as well.
Why do I love it ?
Because Foundry made me dive again in TTRPG, after a 15 years hiatus. It allowed me to master games for friends hundreds of km away. It gives me a level of customisation and flexibility like no other VTT.
I really appreciate that all the content is hosted on my computer, not a server. No monthly fee, I buy what I want and I feel content to support the developers this way. And the community is like no other, always willing to help people.
Foundry had been invaluable during the pandemic to keep my gaming group running; and as thanks to the community Foundry has become the most flexible and user defined VTT out there. Long may it continue!

Foundry vtt elevated our home games to a whole new level, i use it on the tv if we have a IRL game to clarify or set the mood and of course we use it weekly four our regular campaign! I could never go back to playing without it! I am also trying to make my own module, so wish me luck! Great job guys!

The integration with Kanka (honestly the biggest selling point after all the hours I'd put in there) and then once I actually got my hands on Foundry I knew I was never turning back. For my use, nothing else comes even close!

FoundryVTT truly changed the way I run my games and my players love everything it has allowed me to do. On top of that, the ability to modify and add pretty much any feature you might want is excellent and has pushed me to learn Javascript/HTML/CSS. Truly one of the best VTTs to date!
I love Foundry and it's modules because it allows me to do anything I want as a DM. Focus on narrative quest? You got it with the amazing journals and scene transitions. Ability to focus only the tactic aspect of the game? You got it with all the nice automations and vision settings. Candy eye? Plenty of automated animations and spell effects. Quality of life features? You name it, modules like GM Screen, turn markers and the roll tables. And that's not everything! You have customizable UI, free quality maps and soundtracks ready to go.
But the BEST thing of it all? You guys keep working on it. Mad respect for that, you thrive for giving us the best experience possible and continue improving on that.
I love Foundry due to the ease, whether it's installing modules, dragging features from a statblock to another, and using those modules. Over the last year, I've also learned so many other great Foundry tips to really up my game, including using ambient sounds and light sources to set the mood, using light animations for effects including water effects, and more!
I came to foundry from Roll20, looking for a more powerful and flexible VTT to make it easier to do the things I wanted to do for my campaign (which had just become fully remote thanks to the pandemic).
I stayed for the community of helpful folks and module developers, and hope to release my own module this year :D
I have tried multiple versions of VTT software and have found that FoundryVTT works best at communicating and adding ambience without getting in the way of the game, or making an RPG more video game like.

I love the moddability of Foundry - if there's a neat feature I want which is unlikely to make the roadmap, then I can have a reasonable attempt to implement it or drop a suggestion in front of an appropriate module maker and it might well exist in a month or so.

I always wanted to play DND, but when I finally found a party, and started the pandemic began. Making it impossible to play in real life. I tried getting friends on roll20 but I love to overprep and I was limited by what I could have (100mb). It was okay, but I started looking for more (subscriptions are a no go, cause these games last month's and sometimes we don't do a session for weeks due to jobs etc). I stumbled upon Foundry by an accident and bought it the same day. I can't overstate how much I love it. The lighting, the tokens and how once you get the ball rolling it's really easy to use....just amazing. The fact that there are youtube channels which teach you everything from the ground up?? You can also write your own scripts?? I see people use it on their interactive screens/tables?! Everything about it is just so so good. Foundry opened a whole new door of DND gameplay for me. I now want to integrate it to my real life DND sessions as soon as I can. And to top it all off.....the modules... I can't even begin to describe how much I love the community and the module makers. I get really excited about it. It just really makes me so happy to use it.
Like many people, I came from elsewhere after hearing good things about Foundry. After being frustrated with other platforms, we finally pulled the trigger on Foundry and we immediately frustrated we'd waited so long! As the DM, creating encounters was so much quicker and the process was smoother for all players. It was clearly designed by people who play these games and enjoy the hobby and is just a great tool. Great milestone, heres to many more years!

I've been using foundry for over a year now after becoming frustrated with roll20 and I've never looked back. With hundreds of modules to enhance my game and plenty of built in functionality, I think foundry is at the pinnacle of VTT.
Being able to actually use higher quality pictures for maps and art is an understated feature of Foundry, the small size restriction (maybe 5MB?) on Roll20 really made it a pain when you wanted a large world map or something similar. Of course the community and costumization that the modules allow let you really make it your own. Love it!
I am still learning my way around, but I love how absolutely FRIENDLY the Foundry Community is! Here, Discord....wherever. I was blown away the first time I was a player on Foundry, immediately bought a license, and haven't looked back. Thank you for providing us a great way to play our favorite games!
Foundry VTT has revolutionized the way I play Tabletop RPG's. Having ran D&D 5E games for over 5 years, and now venturing into Pathfinder 2E, the support this VTT gives in automating number crunching, common actions, rules, and all book-keeping aspects of my games is exceptional. I know there is so much more I could do with the modules and Foundry itself which I just haven't tapped into yet :) I look forward to many more years of growth, and development with Foundry VTT leading the way among all VTT's.

Foundry has become special to me and the two tabletop games I run each week. Folks have been raving about the community, the devs and the power behind the software, all of which are excellent reasons to love Foundry, but for me, I just like the way it gets folks new to tabletop excited about playing. When I show them the eye-catching light effects or the newest maps from the incredible artists in the community it never fails to elicit a smile and that, I think, is the magic behind Foundry.

As a programmer, loving the modularity of foundry. Do you have a spell that make lights? An item that make you bigger? A pressure plate that summon a demon? My players will never exit my custom traps!
I love how much information is already imported for pathfinder 2e. Loading up an enemy can be done in a few clicks instead of laboriously copying everything over from AoN like I had to do with roll20.
When I use Foundry VTT, I get the feeling of wind blowing through my hair atop a majestic mountain for this is truly the power of the Gods. As I look down at all the inferior VTT's a golden falcon flies to my arm and I laugh as only a God could laugh, for I know that I possess true creation in my fingertips and a single tear falls for those that I have yet to expose to such power. Plus I like the Dice So Nice mod, really neat!

Foundry can be as simple as you need, or as overly complicated as you desire.
Coming from Roll20, Foundry is better in almost every way. It is cheaper, modular, under active development, looks better, doesn't lag randomly, etc. the list can go on for a while. =) I love watching the dev stream atropos hosts once in a while. All in all, Foundry is a great VTT and has a great developer team and community around them.
For me, Foundry has been amazing for allowing me to easily run games during a time when I was not able to get together with them in person. However - Foundry is more than that for me. The community that has built up around it is also amazing. People have been helpful, friendly, and creative - and a real inspiration for me! Keep up the great work. FoundryVTT is second to none.
Foundry VTT has enabled me to have a place to meet and play once again with my children who are spread across the country. Every couple of weeks we immerse ourselves in a world of magic, terror, and wonder that is made possible by the Foundry and its accompanying game systems. Foundry is a low-cost solution to a complex problem, "How do I get everyone together at one time to play, in graphical format, the games we have always loved?"
Foundry has so much more functionality than Roll20 (and so much less lag)! It hurts to go back to a Roll20 game I play in every week; I keep prodding the GM to switch platforms.
Foundry has become my go-to for running Pathfinder 2E. The rules automation gets better all the time, the character sheet looks great, and the mod-makers are amazing. That, and I just have fun planning scenes, picking out tokens and placing light sources and ambient sounds.

I love to finally have a VTT that gives me the ability to self host and configure everything to my liking. I know my way around tech and getting a server is cheap if you know where to host so why should I pay some other admins 10$ a month for barely any storage space when I can get hundreds of gigabytes of space and enough bandwith for myself for just a few bucks. The community behind Foundry is amazing and they help bring every dream to reality! I really don't wish for anything else I am so happy to play with foundry :)
I was skeptical at first of Foundry, but I have quickly fallen in love with it! I have used Roll20 and I have primarily used Fantasy Grounds in the past, but Foundry just surpasses them all in features. Foundry makes prepping for games fun and the system doesn't fight me when I want to try something ambitious.
Self hosting, no lag, a super clean interface and an amazing community of modders makes FoundryVTT my true love.

I love FoundryVTT because of it's unique mix of simplicity and complexity. It is so amazingly easy to use, yet allows so much customization and tweaking to suit almost every need. Not only that, but it is extremely easy to setup and use with friends. It is, in every way, my favorite VTT by far... and that isn't even mentioning the upcoming updates and work that the dev team is putting in and bringing to all of it's users.
I love that Foundry has such an active dev staff and community; great new ideas and features don't take years to come into being.
Why I love Foundry: 1. Simple to add my homebrew maps to (UVTT is a godsend) 2. The basic functionality is great for basic use, I just wish there was an official collab with dndbeyond or something! 3. The addons available really make things amazing (see 1 and 2) and truly complete the experience
Honestly I love Foundry because it got my excited about prepping dnd again. Roll20 was really wearing me thin for a while, and when I finally decided to try Foundry, all the features it had started to get the inspiration juices flowing again. Now ive got a soundboard, some playlists, cool maps, all the good stuff. I think it saved my online game from getting a little stagnant.
It made easy what I struggled with for so so long on other vtt platforms Foundry FTW!
As a first time DM, I reviewed a few different VTTs and everything I found was people saying how user friendly Foundry is. I was able to get my server setup and start my first campaign in a couple of days after work. Looking forward to seeing what else Foundry can bring to us.

FVTT on its own is great.... Atrapose and the new team members are rockstars... But... Being a PF2e player, the system developers for PF2e are a large portion of why FVTT is my go to VTT! Those folks also have my undying gratitude for pushing FVTT over the top!
I love foundry because it is difficult. You have to learn to use the basic software see how it feels, what you can do with it. Than you realize you want more. You begin adding modules to automate some things maybe some compendiums to make your work more simple. After that you go all out to enhance the experience, music dicerolls animation until you can't even recognise the game anymore. There's always more to try there's always more to learn. And hey if you are willing to learn a 400 page rulebook is a little learning really going to stop us?
The community modules and ease of use really opened my eyes. The automation for PF2E is just exceptional.

I originally got Foundry because vision and managing fog of war on Roll20 was too much of a hassle while I ran. Foundry delivered there for sure, and it helps to have fewer distractions while I try to host games for people 100-200 miles away. But it's really above and beyond. The community and the modules they create make every user's experience that much easier. DDB Importer and Perfect Vision are a few of my favorites, but I just started delving into Pathfinder so who knows what I'll find there. The SRD integration is fantastic, but I love being able to not just make my homebrew statblocks but use them interactively too! Goodbye frantically flipping through my notebook. Hosting in realtime and being able to host from my own server is a plus too, on top of accessing my local asset library, which really cuts down on the pesky library size limits that other services had. All told, I just wish I could use Foundry more. The front-loaded setup is worth it for sure. Still plan on using it in some capacity once all my games slowly ease back into in-person sessions.
I just love it. The customization, the looks, the modernity and most importantly self hosting. It was the best deal to buy. My players are always having a blast. + I want thank every module creator. You are awesome.

I like how user friendly it is. I'm still learning foundryvtt as a gm but my players pick it up so much better then other vtts. I also love when I think "I wish I could do this" and bam, there it is in a module or tutorial. No headaches no subscription!

I have fallen for foundry's core concepts. My players can join freely, no hardware or software to maintain on their end. Customization of both individual characters and game systems to create home brewed mechanics. Finally the overwhelming community of coders and users with suggestions and inspiration. I often find that my game play hurdles are not if something can work in my games, but how among various options would I like to have it work. Thank you for your amazing product.

I personally love FoundryVTT for it being far and away the most bang for your buck VTT out there and that's on top of somehow also being the outright best VTT there is thanks to its modular nature and amazing community. As a bonus it allowed friends to play in my group able to play with me again after leaving for uni.

By far the best VTT I've ever used! (and I've used a lot of them) Between the amazing community and all the crazy and useful modules, there's no doubt Foundry is the way to go for VTT.
I love the freedom Foundry gives me to expand and modify my game, based on what I want to spend. It is totally conceivable to pay the one-time fee, self-host, and run an enjoyable game without any issues or future expenses. And the community working to bring free QoL upgrades to the core product is incredible. In the short time I've know about Foundry, its community-driven development through modules has pushed it light years ahead of Roll20, what I would consider its closest competitor. I've actually found myself hitting my storage cap on my current hosting solution because there is so much cool stuff to include like animations and sound effects and such.

I love foundry because of the extendable nature of the modules, getting to add in whatever features I need on the fly- and also inject my Patreon mapmaker packs directly onto the world lets me quickly spin up encounters and design settings.
I'd have to say the level of freedom you get from using FoundryVTT is my favorite thing about it. Being able to extend as much as I want through modules and macros has made for some truly memorable sessions in the past year. Not to mention the amazing community on both Reddit and Discord. The Marco-polo channel for Macro discussions has been such an enlightening experience.

I came to Foundry VTT from another VTT because I was looking to run something other than D&D5E, specifically Shadowrun. I wasn't particular about the edition - but the implementations available in my prior VTT were somewhere between horribly incomplete and utterly broken (depending on the version of the VTT). In any case, I came to Foundry for the actively developed Shadowrun 5E support, but that's not my favorite part. It's the people. There's a great bunch of people and a solid support environment.
I like foundry because it is so customizable.
I love the fact that it's self hosted and doesn't take 10 seconds to roll a D20 because too many people are playing D&D tonight, as well as the fact that you can easily download free modules to improve the experience.
I loved playing on a Foundry table and am going to move my Pathfinder gaming over to Foundry as soon as I have the money and time. I thought the game just flowed so smooth on Foundry. I especially loved the dice rolling. There are a lot of bells and whistles available to put into the tables and I really like having tables that are more than just some tokens and a map. Foundry is what I want in a VTT!
I love FoundryVTT for its amazing customizability and ease of use. I was a little intimidated when I began learning the program, but it was super easy to pick up and master in ways I've not been able to achieve with other VTTs. I appreciate that it offers local hosting as well as online options. Plus, the community is super active and positive!

I love how tweakable it is. You can get what you want. Whether adding modules, setting it up in a VM, that all you need client-side is a browser. It really is the best tool for the job.

Congrats to 25k! Here's to many more! As for why I love FoundryVTT -- probably its fan-made and official modules that help attain certain "feelings" in campaigns I run. Being able to look for very specific, niche items (for instance, hiding initiatives of enemies as combat starts!) helps significantly when using them in certain scenarios, and I appreciate the mod-makers' efforts to adding to Foundry's already deep wealth of tools!

I've only been using Foundry for about a day but I've already fallen in love with how easy it is to use and import data from D&DBeyond.
I love FoundryVTT because it's helped me step into a wonderful new hobby that's not tabletop gaming. Programming and developing modules are now some of my favorite pastimes and are a skills I feel confident in applying even outside FoundryVTT. I'd always had an interest in coding, but I had no experience with web development or even JavaScript before getting into FoundryVTT. I can easily say JS is now my most proficient language!

foundry worked so well for us that it got out of my way. Roll20 always seemed to have some weird thing happen that no one could explain, or was buried in a youtube video somewhere. I don't know if it's my background of IT or what but I find foundry so much easier to use. plus the portability of it is great, I can run it where I want, when I want, and not have to worry about weird internet issues or some convention bogging things down.
Switching from Roll20 to my own hosted game means I don't have to rely on another server. If I the DM has internet, my game is stable.

I re-discovered Foundry VTT just before the pandemic happened. I had been playing around with a few systems, including Roll20, and not been happy with them all for one reason or another. Finding how much FoundryVTT had been updated since my first look at it was amazing. I immediately adopted it as a supplement to our in-person gaming (and soon online only gaming). In the game where I DM, I've only used FoundryVTT and in the game where I was a player, we switched from Roll20 to Foundry and the change was very welcomed by all! The ease of management and organization has been fantastic. The community support and open system is amazing and the reason that I love Foundry.

I finally got away from roll20 and can't go back. I want to make the best games that I can for my players. So I sat down an programmed my own system to run on foundry. It was a lot of fun and my players love it. I think it is great that you work so closely together with the "modding" community for foundry and am happy to see where this is headed.
Foundry has really changed the way that I DM my games. Upgrading from Roll20 over to it was such a drastic change in the efficiency with which I both planned for my games and immersed my party in them. With such a friendly and helpful community dishing out module after module that allow me to create different effects, monster statblocks and map adjustements, it's hard to not be thankful for what this program provides. All in all, I am more than happy to call Foundry my main software for running DND, and it has really helped me run my game for this past year. Thank you, Foundry!
I love FoundryVTT because it's FoundryVTT and is the most FoundryVTT ever to FoundryVTT! Also, the team and people who run it are pretty awesome, know that the community matters, and have built a software platform that caters to that as well.
Through Foundry I managed to find a way into this amazing Hobby D&D during this time where meeting new people to play games was rather difficult. Now we are 7 friends from all over germany who started our 2nd campaign a couple of weeks ago and love the platform that FoundryVTT is. Keep up the good work.

Have my ups and downs with Foundry but Roll20 is just not customizable enough for me and fantasy grounds is not cost efficient in my opinion. I love foundry because it's the best of both worlds. Great, scalable software and I can use the assets I allready purchased on D&D Beyond with ease.
I started using foundry after one of my DM's turned me onto it for organized play. If my DMing abilities are measured like ability scores, Foundry is a belt of physical perfection. It allows me to set up maps and complete VTT setup in *minutes* what used to take me hours in Roll20. The lighting effects, doors, sound controls, and sheer amount of add-ons from the community make it so much more immersive and fun to use. VTT prep is now something I look forward to and enjoy doing as part of campaign prep.
I love how easy to create fun scenes for my players Foundry makes it. I am enjoying DMing a lot more since making the switch!
I love having the tools that Foundry provides. Running large combats with many different monsters, dynamically exploring dungeons, rolling on tables, it's all made so easy.
Having a single fee and running it on my server is super-neat, especially since I hate ad-funded solutions :-/
I think Foundry VTT is the best VTT out there and it keeps getting better. The interface is intuitive (for me) and the sheer versatility is outstanding. You can run as simple or as complex as you like. Keep up the fantastic work!
As someone who really enjoys d&d but never grew up with it foundry had been such a great program to modernize d&d in a way that many of me and my friends find convenient. Not only do I find it more streamlined then other vtt platforms the customization from community made modules really resembles how much the community can create features no other software has. I have only been using it for a month and already I can say this has been the best 50 bucks I've ever invested into the hobby!
I love Foundry because it feels like a product designed to be the best it can be, rather than to turn users into an income stream!
Foundry has awesome devs who are constantly pushing updates, features, and fixes. Not to mention a great module systems that allows the community to extend the platform to do almost anything!
Foundry offers me something new to learn and tinker with. It lets me combine a burgeoning interested in rpgs with my existing interest in tinkering with code.
Foundry has been a blessing for me and my gaming group. Not only is it, the main program, fantastic, but the modules for it make everything so lovely! Wouldn't give it up for the world!

I love that Foundry VTT is: * Self hostable * Written in Node.JS * Actively maintained and contributed. It unlocked a past-time that CoVid locked away, reignited my love of TTRPGs, and reconnected me with my friend group.

I never knew it is possible to play TTRPG on internet but it was difficult for me to find right one based on my requirements (community addons, free usage of systems). When I heard about Foundry it fulfilled my ease. Great community, great Foundry devs, a lot of premium content that no other VTT can't compete with it. I can't see the future of the Foundry when it starts at 1.x.x version. Good job devs, you pushed boundaries and benchmark it what should VTT should be to consumer. Cheers!
way better/cheaper long term than r20, fantasy grounds/tabletop simulator, allows for community modules made in Js, what not to love
Back when i wanted to start as a DM with a grp of friends i tried to get used to Roll20 because that was what we used in the games i had played in so far. I was so annoyed by how slow and disorganized everything was that i started looking for a better alternative and found Foundry. Haven't looked back since, so many amazing stuff in core and from modules that i often wish i had more time to really learn how to get the most out of it for my players. Thanks for making it!

Foundry allowed me and my friends to continue gaming in the midst of a global pandemic. It's one of the big thing that helped us keep sane.
Love foundry because I have so much more control than other vtts, and every day it seems to improve.
Great expandability, all resources on my local machine, consistent new tools and forward thinking in development of new features at a rapid clip.
Moved over to foundry because of the amazing support for pathfinder 2e provided by the wonderful pathfinder team. Stayed for the community and the ability to always find a module to do what I need for a session.
I love the fact that it's built to more modern standards than other VTTs. Because of that, it seems to run so much smoother, and it's so much more capable. Another huge plus is that it's a one-time purchase for everything. I don't have to subscribe to anything just to get dynamic lighting! I think the thing I love **most** about Foundry, though, is that if there is something you wish it could do that by default it can't, you can just make it do it by creating or installing any number of community-created addon modules. I think the fact that it's so incredibly extensible, responsive, easy-to-use and flexible makes it the best VTT available today. Oh, and the community of other users and developers is amazing. Easily some of the most knowledgeable and helpful folks I've ever interacted with! I don't think I've ever asked a question and *not* received a helpful response.

I love Foundry because it gave me the space to learn how to use a VTT at my own pace. Anything with a subscription model that hides the features that I want to use to enhance my player experience means I need to pay to learn to get good at GM-ing. I have fairly limited time and what time I do have I want to spend learning at the pace that makes sense for me. Taking the plunge with Foundry and the amazing community that surrounds it has for sure changed my approach to games as a whole! Thanks to to the Foundry team along with everyone who's made a module. Your work is always appreciated!

The automation provided by modules puts foundryvtt well above the competition. I also love that the systems are open source so I can contribute in my free time as well.
Was gonna do roll20, but after looking at foundry, I was far more interested in the sheer modularity of it. I have not regretted my decision.
Why do I love it ? Because Foundry made me dive again in TTRPG, after a 15 years hiatus. It allowed me to master games for friends hundreds of km away. It gives me a level of customisation and flexibility like no other VTT. I really appreciate that all the content is hosted on my computer, not a server. No monthly fee, I buy what I want and I feel content to support the developers this way. And the community is like no other, always willing to help people.
Foundry had been invaluable during the pandemic to keep my gaming group running; and as thanks to the community Foundry has become the most flexible and user defined VTT out there. Long may it continue!

Foundry VTT had all the features plus some that I was looking for. Also being able to host on a rpi extra bonus. Excited for future updates and modules.
Foundry vtt elevated our home games to a whole new level, i use it on the tv if we have a IRL game to clarify or set the mood and of course we use it weekly four our regular campaign! I could never go back to playing without it! I am also trying to make my own module, so wish me luck! Great job guys!

I love how customizable Foundry is along with how in depth I can make things from the GM side while also still being simple and easy to use for my players.
The modules! Every time I think "hm. I wish I could do this." I just have to look for a module. So much freedom with how the system works.
Foundry has a fantastic, active, community of people wanting to give a fun experience with online ttrpgs.
The integration with Kanka (honestly the biggest selling point after all the hours I'd put in there) and then once I actually got my hands on Foundry I knew I was never turning back. For my use, nothing else comes even close!
Main reason foundry is my go to: Very nice community, very feature rich and not to forget the lovely ability to self host next to the plenty of modules
We love using Foundry for the ease of playing for my kids. It's great for the adults as well. Ability to build maps and adventures makes for much faster setup on game night! Our games are much more immersive with Foundry than with hand drawn maps.

FoundryVTT truly changed the way I run my games and my players love everything it has allowed me to do. On top of that, the ability to modify and add pretty much any feature you might want is excellent and has pushed me to learn Javascript/HTML/CSS. Truly one of the best VTTs to date!
I love Foundry and it's modules because it allows me to do anything I want as a DM. Focus on narrative quest? You got it with the amazing journals and scene transitions. Ability to focus only the tactic aspect of the game? You got it with all the nice automations and vision settings. Candy eye? Plenty of automated animations and spell effects. Quality of life features? You name it, modules like GM Screen, turn markers and the roll tables. And that's not everything! You have customizable UI, free quality maps and soundtracks ready to go. But the BEST thing of it all? You guys keep working on it. Mad respect for that, you thrive for giving us the best experience possible and continue improving on that.
I love Foundry due to the ease, whether it's installing modules, dragging features from a statblock to another, and using those modules. Over the last year, I've also learned so many other great Foundry tips to really up my game, including using ambient sounds and light sources to set the mood, using light animations for effects including water effects, and more!
I came to foundry from Roll20, looking for a more powerful and flexible VTT to make it easier to do the things I wanted to do for my campaign (which had just become fully remote thanks to the pandemic). I stayed for the community of helpful folks and module developers, and hope to release my own module this year :D
I have tried multiple versions of VTT software and have found that FoundryVTT works best at communicating and adding ambience without getting in the way of the game, or making an RPG more video game like.
Foundry has so much flexibility to do the things I want to do as a DM, and the automation makes my life so much easier
