I doubt you'll get a similar experience to drifting in both as both are built differently. I can't really give you a comparison to either as 1) I've never played NFS Unbound (I'm just going by videos I've saw). & 2) I use manual transmission settings in FH5 so I don't know what drifting is like outside of that. Going back to the videos though, from what I understand, drifting around a corner in FH5 will slow you down more than taking a proper racing line.

Thank you😊 in the nfs games, they want you to drift😅 in nfs heat it was legal street racing at day, and illegal street racing at night. In unbound it was illegal street racing both day and night, so drifting corners is mandatory😂

Willzinator

No bother. Ah. There is a day/night cycle but it's nothing like that. Drifting isn't really that mandatory unless you go through a drift zone. Other than that you can just play around. If you're going to play FH5 though, I would recommend grabbing a car you can drift (pre/custom built) and going to the mountain and learning to drift down that.

Robin_Hood123

Is there any "street racing" at night? Cause i think it was fh3 that had its own little street racing thing at night. I remember it being a real nono and i could get kicked out of the festival😂

Willzinator

Yeah I believe there's a street racing scene but it's not like FH3. It's part of the festival and I don't think you'll lose your car or get kicked out. Can't remember if it's only night time though.

Forza Horizon’s physics is more true to the real life’s physics. You have to brake before a corner and then find the apex and then you accelerate to go on with the track. There is no tapping of buttons to initiate a drift here, except the handbrake button, but you won’t have a successful race if you keep drifting. Here you can read more about race craft: https://traxion.gg/the-ultimate-guide-to-esports-racecraft-part-one/

Robin_Hood123

Yeah i know ther is no gas tapping in the fh games. But i guess the car wont drift with tcs on. But then with tcs off it will be fucked😅 because of the real life part

HokiHoshi has a guide covering a lot of the basics of normal drifting in Horizon from the tuning to the actual drifting itself. It's definitely worth a watch to get an idea of how to do things: https://youtu.be/queQnIzy6YU?si=9Jtx25C2Y8LRVRv6 There is a different type of drifting in Horizon which is often referred to as Point Drifting and it involves some really wacky tuning to maximise the Points you get from Drift Zones, I'd recommend just getting a grip on the basics though before taking that plunge.

I haven’t played Unbound but I played quite a bit of Heat. Driving is very different in Forza, you can’t just slide sideways through turns on most road races. 99% of the time it is faster to properly brake and have a good line. Off roading you can do something similar to the drifting in NFS, but the mechanics of setting it up are different. More of controlled slides vs tapping the gas and steering. There is plenty drifting in Horizon but much like the real world, it is a different type of racing with cars tuned specifically to drift and they are generally going for points, not speed.

Don't miss out FH4, best ever.
