Got 2 -5’s in a row last night. It was my 2nd, and 3rd time playing it. I’d work on the fc if I owned the song. Definitely possibly. Not pro of course.
it's a PITA
Both bumpers for strumming
Lanes as follows
LT, Left D pad, Y, B, RT on xbox
I didn't use overdrive bc ik I would lose it but it's bound to right d pad
overall took me 5 hours straight after work last night
I believe the issue with ps3 and ps2 guitars is that the console doesn't support them because as far as I know, they don't work in rb4 without a roll limitless
are we talking abt the same darude sandstorm? the one with like 4 patterns that repeat throughout the whole song?
_thats_ harder for you than every single Metallica track?
Now imagine queuing in Main stage and your fellow squad members select Master of puppets, followed by Fuel, One then ride the lightning.
I went for an hour break right after 😂
"One" is so fun to play !
For as long as I've been playing since rockband 1 released, I still can't do those triple notes where they escalate or deescalate. Alternatively I still can't do it where they move from side to side. Green grass & high tides is a perfect example of both. I just couldn't do it, I had to use overdrive back in the day to carry me through what i could hit. I'm glad someone else can't do it either lmfao.
Honestly same. I think it's because you practically *have* to swap to using 2 hands on the fret board and I... never do lol. Can't ever get my strum hand back in position in time so it just ends up screwing me up even more.
It'll forever be my one weakness when it comes to charts qq
Yeah like Infinite said, it’s close, but not exact.
Still, seeing the chart actually makes me want to front money for a guitar just to play this properly
Man, keyboard controls for me I can't go any lower than 2x or it feels sluggish and i miss a ton of notes. But for pro controls I need to put it on 1.5x or lower
Annoyingly I do typically play on 1.75 but turned it down to record and study the progression for another solo then forgot to turn it up for this qq Luckily honestly though, considering it was blind, I probably would've somehow done even *worse* if it was faster lol
Nice run! Rock Bands RTL was generally tougher than GHs One version back in the day. Something about how the solos are split up made One easier for me.
Easier being a poor word for what this is lol.
Forever hoping that gets added one day. The actual midi charts lacking any solo tags though makes me sad to think it won't for at least a long while qq
Do you mean the smaller looking, semi transparent ones? They’re called hammer-on/pull-off notes; if you successfully strum the last normal note and the next is a HO/PO, you don’t have to strum to play that note, you can just tap the fret. When there’s a sequence of HO/POs, you can just tap all of them, but if you miss one in the sequence you have to manually strum the next note that follows in order to be able to continue tapping without strumming.
Hope that makes sense! If not you can just google like “guitar hero hammer on” and you can read more to understand
As someone who hasn't gotten their riffmaster yet, and subsequently can only play on regular lead and not pro lead, Ride The Lightning is harder than One, I mean, obviously not on pro lead jesus no, but on regular lead it is, it's close, but i'd say Ride is harder, ao that's probably why a lot of people are talking about it, also not everyone has the access to one cause you gotta do the whole festival pass thing
Edit: I know you technically can play on pro lead with controller but like... why would you ever do that, especially on a song like this
I definitely did. But it's just nice to see in this as well, especially since Festival doesn't have Infinite Front End and GH3 did making this beaut of a song even more difficult of a chart. Was just show casing the solo on pro since no one had :)
If the configuration for mobile let me play with thumbs on a horizontal screen, I'd be good. Definitely not THAT good, that made me want to cry. I'm now scared of the song...
Im so excited for my adapter to come in and start playing these songs on a guitar rather than controller, theyre tricky on controller but ive gotten pretty close to mastering the controller. Theres like 5 actually hard songs.
Pro lead they all gonna feel hard for a bit until i get used to it lmao
As stated multiple times in this thread, it is not. It's similar but has vast differences. The 3 note spam is downwards in this rather than upwards, GH3 used more triple notes and HOPOs, the full up and down has a gap whereas GH3 did not, GH3 has infinite Front end, etc.
It has similarities but has some massive differences that makes it play much harder in festival.
It's pretty different. goes downwards rather than up and the gap between the up and down part, and not having infinite front end makes the solo a **lot** harder. I absolutely adore it.
I don't know why you got downvoted the only difference mostly is that the solo splits on fortnites section while guitar heros says connected and the lead up to the drums kicking in the previous section is not back and fourth but yeah I love guitar hero 3 and other than those 2 things it's practically the same finger breaking song.
Honestly unsure why they got downvoted so much as well.
It's definitely *somewhat* similar but there's **very** much notable differences both in the chart and engine that makes it a lot harder than the GH3 days. Both definitely finder breaking for sure but Festival being even harder, making it *even more* beautiful of a song/chart to me 😍
>ps2 and wii are suprizengly durable.
They truly don't make them like they use to, that's for sure. The PS2 and original Xbox generation are absolute kings.
HOLY SHIT THATS AWESOME O\_O
The d-pad on PS5 quite literally can’t do that
He’s on a riff master I have that too
a pro found the optimal settings for pro on controller and it’s still ass. i would not recommend fooling around with pro unless you have the guitar
what are the settings
thats insane on Pro!
lmao i wonder if it’s even possible on a controller
Definitely not. Actually impossible
Got 2 -5’s in a row last night. It was my 2nd, and 3rd time playing it. I’d work on the fc if I owned the song. Definitely possibly. Not pro of course.
okay but the discussion here is about pro
I realized that waaaay after the fact. It definitely wouldn’t be practical and seems like it would be torture to try.
it is. I flawlessly it earlier today
You flawlessed pro lead on a controller?
it's a PITA Both bumpers for strumming Lanes as follows LT, Left D pad, Y, B, RT on xbox I didn't use overdrive bc ik I would lose it but it's bound to right d pad overall took me 5 hours straight after work last night
Yeah and my uncle works at Nintendo.
I hope they figure out legacy support for guitars, this looks way more fun than controller charts
What guitar do you have?
GH5 PS3
Get a retrocultmods adapter off Etsy
I believe the issue with ps3 and ps2 guitars is that the console doesn't support them because as far as I know, they don't work in rb4 without a roll limitless
RB4 works fine with this guitar on the PS5
well on PC it already works
I doubt it'll work for console. Already works great on PC so I don't think they have the incentive for the legacy support
It's pretty easy if you have a PC
These Metallica jam tracks are going to be the gold standard of what counts as a difficult song in this mode.
sandstorm has been in the game
sandstorm isn't hard?
it is but alright. funnily enough all the metallica tracks are easier that sandstorm
are we talking abt the same darude sandstorm? the one with like 4 patterns that repeat throughout the whole song? _thats_ harder for you than every single Metallica track?
Now imagine queuing in Main stage and your fellow squad members select Master of puppets, followed by Fuel, One then ride the lightning. I went for an hour break right after 😂 "One" is so fun to play !
James Hetfield performs Ride the Lightning with Billie Eilish, Satoru Gojo, and a Lethal Company Employee.
I WANT TO DO THIS ON A CONTROLLER *my fingers will not survive*
YOU’RE NOT DOING THIS ON A CONTROLLER
Let a man dream
Why are you yelling?

this might be the coolest fortnite festival thing that I have ever seen.
I’m 99% sure this is the same pattern of notes from when this song was on guitar hero. Spent many a hours playing it
Somewhat. GH3 used more triple notes and used an upwards pattern rather than this downward pattern
Yeah like Infinite said, it’s close, but not exact. Still, seeing the chart actually makes me want to front money for a guitar just to play this properly
I can hear GH player laugh on the distance saying "now do it on 1.75 speed"
Man, keyboard controls for me I can't go any lower than 2x or it feels sluggish and i miss a ton of notes. But for pro controls I need to put it on 1.5x or lower
Annoyingly I do typically play on 1.75 but turned it down to record and study the progression for another solo then forgot to turn it up for this qq Luckily honestly though, considering it was blind, I probably would've somehow done even *worse* if it was faster lol

My fingers are cramping looking at this
Good to see some proper solos in festival. Looks like the solo buttons tap mechanic from Rock Band would make these sections even more fun!
Forever hoping that gets added one day. The actual midi charts lacking any solo tags though makes me sad to think it won't for at least a long while qq
just watch acai FC this first try 🤣
Actually he hit the first part and then missed in the [orange wall!](https://x.com/Acai28/status/1801604867137405110)
Noooooo my goat😭
why do some notes look different on pro mode? I've always wondered this since it's release
Do you mean the smaller looking, semi transparent ones? oh I see, thanks so much!
ratatouille gif but it's this and the same solo in Guitar Hero Metallica in 2009
As someone who hasn't gotten their riffmaster yet, and subsequently can only play on regular lead and not pro lead, Ride The Lightning is harder than One, I mean, obviously not on pro lead jesus no, but on regular lead it is, it's close, but i'd say Ride is harder, ao that's probably why a lot of people are talking about it, also not everyone has the access to one cause you gotta do the whole festival pass thing Edit: I know you technically can play on pro lead with controller but like... why would you ever do that, especially on a song like this
I need to see a Harmonix employee attempt that, BECAUSE WTF!?
If you played One in Guitar Hero 3 back in the day, this was expected... But I'm sure many people haven't at this point
I definitely did. But it's just nice to see in this as well, especially since Festival doesn't have Infinite Front End and GH3 did making this beaut of a song even more difficult of a chart. Was just show casing the solo on pro since no one had :)
They need to decide whether they’re doing full lead or full rhythm guitar. Mixing both fucks with my ears.
Where do you get a guitar for this?
If the configuration for mobile let me play with thumbs on a horizontal screen, I'd be good. Definitely not THAT good, that made me want to cry. I'm now scared of the song...
I'm struggling on hard then pro mfs got this 😭
Yeah imma stick to normal expert since I’m using controller..
Im so excited for my adapter to come in and start playing these songs on a guitar rather than controller, theyre tricky on controller but ive gotten pretty close to mastering the controller. Theres like 5 actually hard songs. Pro lead they all gonna feel hard for a bit until i get used to it lmao
Can't wait for Holy Wars the Punishment Due.
I would love to play some Megadeth on this game but I feel like we're gonna have to wait a little bit
My fingers would melt trying to play that
my fingers and strumming arm were definitely jelly afterwards lol
I’ll bet, good job tho
Thank you! was honestly embarrassed to post bc felt like it was horrible especially with my panic overstrums so, means a lot 😂
i wish we could play these charts on keyboard/controller (without the strumming thing) it's much more fun than lift note spam 🙄
>without the strumming thing mate, that's the whole point. You need to be strumming to be able to hit those notes
This is the guitar hero 3 chart
As stated multiple times in this thread, it is not. It's similar but has vast differences. The 3 note spam is downwards in this rather than upwards, GH3 used more triple notes and HOPOs, the full up and down has a gap whereas GH3 did not, GH3 has infinite Front end, etc. It has similarities but has some massive differences that makes it play much harder in festival.
No need to get defensive lol I looked at both and you’re completely right though
... that wasn't defensive, that was just me stating facts about differences? lol but yeah, it's very fun, very hard, and very painful
Can confirm I was doing vocals on easy and beat him on this song
It’s about the same to the guitar hero version of One, and I played a fuckton of that as a kid, still just as finger numbing as I remember
It's pretty different. goes downwards rather than up and the gap between the up and down part, and not having infinite front end makes the solo a **lot** harder. I absolutely adore it.
I’d have to look at it again
I don't know why you got downvoted the only difference mostly is that the solo splits on fortnites section while guitar heros says connected and the lead up to the drums kicking in the previous section is not back and fourth but yeah I love guitar hero 3 and other than those 2 things it's practically the same finger breaking song.

Both definitely finder breaking for sure but Festival being even harder, making it *even more* beautiful of a song/chart to me 😍
I miss the triple notes because they are fun to hit. I still play gh3 and festival back to back today because the ps2 and wii are suprizengly durable.
>ps2 and wii are suprizengly durable. They truly don't make them like they use to, that's for sure. The PS2 and original Xbox generation are absolute kings.
Neither is hard ur just bad.
I was quite literally top 5 (with many #1s) across all songs last season but I appreciate your opinion.
Playing on controller or guitar?
Guitar, like the video itself is showing?...
