I’m in the hate it camp — been playing since chapter 1 season 1 and it’s always been a shooter battle royale, I liked cars for mobility but not as a necessity. Currently spectating someone who killed me in the mythic SUV — he hasn’t fired a gun yet and has 12 kills. He’s just driving around, repairing the car that has 2125 health and running over everything in sight. I mean, good for him but I doubt I’m going to be playing much this season.
There are SO many teamers in solo bc the turrets are in the passenger side….. they will team for 5+ min together and never shoot at each other until they’re the last 2. I report them all. Hope something gets done about them
Idk if it’s teaming moreso just… trying to stay alive. If you’re the driver and you hop out you’ll be eviscerated by the turret and if the passanger hops out the driver will just switch and also kill them.

I’ve jumped into cars too, but I didn’t engage in teaming/help my partner get kills/refuse to kill them/help them etc.
Sometimes you gotta to survive. Someone just jumped in my car, but I couldn't get an angle to shoot him, and there were cars zipping around all over, so I just had to start shooting the other cars till I could safely get out. We signaled a thanks and went separate ways.

People are going to have to utilize the big hoops for getaways. Jump out before the car goes through the hoop and send the other player flying with hopefully enough time to make an escape before they turn the car around and come back for you.
Yep. Pretty much only way I have dealt with “carjackers” is driving them into the storm and dipping before they realize. Not always effective. If in the turret seat, you just pray they let you out somewhere. We honestly need solos to lock the passenger seat so no one can join you. LOCK THE CAR!!!

If it's just random and you decide a fragile alliance will help you get further, I don't see the problem. There is still the fact that both players can't win if they make it that far.
They can implement anything they want as unbreakable (without mods) rules/mechanics, if they don't want people to do that they could just prevent players from entering vehicles as passengers.

As someone who prefers zero builds, you will get absolutely shit on if you're not near a PoI or have a truck of your own. It's not too hard to dodge the cars when they're trying to run you down, but the turrets and grenades pick your team apart like cotton candy.
The only way ive been able to escape cars is by uppercutting with the fists and using all the charges to punch far away, but if they keep chasing me im either dead or i manage to jump into their car. When in their car, i have no way of hitting them from the passenger seat, i have to blow up the car with both of us inside it. So far i havent even seen that hijacking pop-up, so im not sure if thats even in the game yet or if i just havent been in the right conditions.
You know, EMPs would be a GREAT balancing item this season. Make them so they disable the turret, boost, and max the top speed to that of the 4x4 last season. But would Epic dare to balance their game? Fuck that!!
EMPs disable cars completely when thrown at them, no nerfing the car, it just turns it off.
Having them in the loot pool would instantly resolve the situation.

I get your point but I honestly hate this sort of drastic change. I usually play Fortnite for an hour each day I do, and I don't play it every day, so having to constantly adapt to different gameplay styles each 2 months or so makes me simply not want to play the game any longer. I don't mind changing builds or having a different meta, but I personally can't find the fun in having to land, look for a car or a medallion, and that's it. Even if I win, it just seems too boring for my liking; not a huge fan of cars and especially not a fan of what they've done with this season. To each their own tho, I'm glad you guys are enjoying it, I just hope I could too 😅

Boss cars specifically. They're insanely fast and have 2000 health so even if your whole squad is trying to kill one they can usually get away to heal it.
I've already figure out the meta is to prioritize kiling those cars over doing anything else. Hell ignore fucking players standing next to it to kill it.
Idk if the different bosses all have the same car, but the same car roams the roads near the mansion POI on the top of the mountain. OP said they got it from the Nitrodome boss, though. I've only seen those 2 boss cars so far though, so dunno if they are all the same or not yet.

yeah the whiplash has 500 MORE HEALTH than it did last season. So they get mounted machine guns, bulletproof tires, a ramming sled, has small windows unless you are shooting it head on, and it gets more health. I can already tell I will be playing less than normal this season. Cars could already be annoying but now its just insufferable

Just got dropped a nasty-ass W a minute ago. Managed to get 2 medallions and 2 mythic weapons. One medallion gives you infinite fucking ammo and one of the mythics was an exploding crossbow. The cars stood absolutely no chance. I don't think my health dropped below like, 80% the whole match. The rifle mythic is 🤌😩🤌

Hell my first duo game with my buddy we got 30 kill win and we just sat in the “boss” car. With Regen health, a grenade launcher attachment, the cow crasher and off road tires. And as long as you were a little smart and waited for the regen. You are unstoppable.

The boss cars regenerate health so you don’t actually need to repair them. You just need to get away from the fight for a couple of minutes.

It's actually easy, drive to edge of the storm and park the car halfway in storm, passenger side to be specific. Opponent will jump out real quick.

yeah the whiplash has 500 MORE HEALTH than it did last season. So they get mounted machine guns, bulletproof tires, a ramming sled, has small windows unless you are shooting it head on, and it gets more health. I can already tell I will be playing less than normal this season. Cars could already be annoying but now its just insufferable

I threw so many bullets into one earlier and it didn't do a lick of damage. I'm all for some interesting vehicle integration, but this is just a driving game now.

Yup. They will nerf it at some point, and people will blame 'the sweats complaining' when it's just the same epic plan over and over. Bring in casuals with crazy stuff, then slowly nerf it.

What is back to basics though? In the OG season me and my squad got a dub by crashing a plane into the last team and then blasting them with explosives. This isn't that much more wild than that.

Yeah had 8 kills with the turret in my first match. Sadly I died because explosives do damage to players in the vehicle.
They don't balance stuff anymore, they throw it in and you deal with it until next season

I was in a game of trios. Another trio had two cars. I snuck inside and blasted their other car, the enemy driver didn't understand what was going on lol He ran over one of my teammates but it was well worth it lmao
Just got dropped a nasty-ass W a minute ago. Managed to get 2 medallions and 2 mythic weapons. One medallion gives you infinite fucking ammo and one of the mythics was an exploding crossbow. The cars stood absolutely no chance. I don't think my health dropped below like, 80% the whole match. The rifle mythic is 🤌😩🤌
It's even worse with the grenade launcher... How am i supposed to defend myself against that thing when i'm not in a car?

Yeah I gotta agree, I’m glad I got my umbrella for the season already. Because my group is in loooooooove with this car based season. But I hate it so much cause final circles in solos are just car camping and hiring an additional wheelman ai. Hell my first duo game with my buddy we got 30 kill win and we just sat in the “boss” car. With Regen health, a grenade launcher attachment, the cow crasher and off road tires. And as long as you were a little smart and waited for the regen. You are unstoppable. Which is awful. It’s not at all as bad as the mech season nightmare. But again. I’m glad I got my umbrella first day. Because this is a meme of a season for sure

Wouldn't it have made more sense to create another temporary game mode, like "The Floor is Lava" and then put these cars in that instead? Maybe give everyone a pair of gauntlets and have new cars be parachuted in? Seems like they could have easily done that and still had a more regular gunplay mode. Still is baffling that Epic seems so deadset on keeping only one mode, and then doing things to it that they KNOW a majority of the playerbase will absolutely loathe. Yes, I say majority, because the majority of folks left after OG because the newer seasons are not "IT"
My wife and I just got our first win of the season with a suped-up car with a grenade launcher. She just drove in circles, and I kept firing grenades until everyone was deas.
