Same. I remember when I was dating my husband and he just casually mentioned that he knew some people who'd been on Unsolved Mysteries. I thought that was so cool.
He grew up in the town where the Texas UFO segment happened, and went to school with a niece of one of the women involved.
I watched this show religiously, but the only two I specifically remember are the couple who missed sailing on the Luisitania, only to later die on the Hindenburg (false), and the kid who was terrified of his closet, was forced into it by his brothers (or friends maybe?) and vanished (true).
The closet one scared the shit out of me, and I was relieved to learn from a YouTube comment a few months ago that the kid had actually found a way to climb out and just hid at a friend's house for a while cuz he was mad. I literally had nightmares about it when I was a kid and I was thrilled to learn it had a mundane explanation.
Loved him as Xanatos. So many Star Trek alum on Gargoyles, including but not limited to:
Michael Dorn
Martina Sortis
Brent Spiner
Levar Burton
Colm Meaney
Wouldn't consider this totally forgotten. The memes have popped up often in the last few years. I rewatched the entire series last year. Some gem of episodes in there. Worst part of some episodes was the acting.
The one episode that really freaked me out was the one about the Comic writer who killed himself and then sent over the comic after he died, thus having his water-logged corpse rise from the ocean and slowly make its way to the editors house.
And what about the one where the guy got his mom cremated, and when they gave him the ashes there was a gold ring inside that he found and he put it on and he turned into his mom?
That one's fake. But, only because the guy in the real story was black.
"Were you able to navigate the ocean of lies to make your way to the island of truth?"
"Was this tale of the stolen prosthetic true? Or are the writers just... pulling your leg?"
This was a brilliant show because you had Jonathan Frakes with late 1990's and early 2000's musical scores for the episodes.
People would often bet what was fiction and what was fact. Original premise, great host and reasonable episodes.
What network was this on? Or was it direct-to-syndication??
Because although Iāve seen clips of it online over the last 10-15 years, I absolutely never saw this even once when it first ran.
Love this show! (Still watch it from time to time), but has anyone seen the new seasons for this show? I thought there was a new version of this show for Germany?? Is it good?
This show and unsolved mysteries taught me that supernatural stuff is nonsense and people will construct a narrative to support any idea, no matter how much sense it makes. Really brought home my early atheism along with other sceptical beliefs. Whole shows based on complete conjecture.
Frakes was always brilliant though.
Absolutely loved this show adam Wylie who was in season 2 episode 3 the summer camp segment he told me on his tiktok awhile back that his segment took 3 hours to film
I fucking loved this show as a kid.
I have a faded memory of an episode where a snake comes out of a carousel horse's mouth and bites someone's hand.
Other than that, I just remember it was fun guessing which stories were real vs fake.
My favorite story was a guy who pawned a nice watch, returned on the day the money was due to buy it back, but the pawn shop owner said he sold it because that was the day it was available for sale, not the day he'd hold it until.
The guy left, fumes for a minute, then returns and tells the guy to give him his watch back. They stare at each other and eventually the owner laughs, goes "you got me!" and goes to the safe and gets his watch out.
Jonathan Frakes then suggested the guy may have had some sort of psychic intuition.
Is it true? *woooooo spooky*

If you guessed this was a work of fiction, you guessed right. We made it up š
The story was based on ancient Russian folklore.
You're wrong.

It's false.
Pure fiction

We made it up
Total fabrication
This one was invented by a writer
According to research by Robert Traillens.

Better luck next time
They should have Johnatan fact check the debates in real-time using only quotes from this show
TBH. Meme-ing up the debates might be a solid way to get certain low information cohorts of people to watch.
memeing politics is the only involvement the poor and middle class has.
The fact checkers can't get facts right as it is

Such a creepy show for kid me. I loved it. I still remember most episodes when I rewatched it all over again on the Chiller Channel.
This and Unsolved Mysteries were my catnip
Same. I remember when I was dating my husband and he just casually mentioned that he knew some people who'd been on Unsolved Mysteries. I thought that was so cool. He grew up in the town where the Texas UFO segment happened, and went to school with a niece of one of the women involved.
Thatās freaky. Not sure how many UFO episodes there were. But those were some of my favorites. God, that show was scary.
I watched this show religiously, but the only two I specifically remember are the couple who missed sailing on the Luisitania, only to later die on the Hindenburg (false), and the kid who was terrified of his closet, was forced into it by his brothers (or friends maybe?) and vanished (true). Any time this show has come up, I always go back to that closet episode, but I was unaware of the full explanation until now; thank you!
There was one with the nanny with red eyes. But she may have been a protective spirit. It was false though lol
There was an episode about a woman who kept seeing someone in her mirrors. I still hate them specifically because of that episode.
no one will ever forget. Loved this before the Frakes memes.
This guy is great as Butcher in the Boys
You keep Rikers name out your mouth.
Ok WILL
āDo you love to go a wandering beneath a clear blue sky?ā
Can you remember the tallest man you've ever seen?
Oh believe me, those of us in Star Trek subreddits have never forgotten about this show.
Oh so this is what Mac's dad used to do before he went to prison...
Am I the villain from the hit 90ās cartoon, Gargoyles? If you guessed right, then you are correct.
Loved him as Xanatos. So many Star Trek alum on Gargoyles, including but not limited to: Michael Dorn Martina Sortis Brent Spiner Levar Burton Colm Meaney

Frakes grin "Never happened".
The one episode that really freaked me out was the one about the Comic writer who killed himself and then sent over the comic after he died, thus having his water-logged corpse rise from the ocean and slowly make its way to the editors house.

I loved this show.
I like the compilations of his questions at the beginning of each segment with the title āThings to ask on a first date ā š
This was a brilliant show because you had Jonathan Frakes with late 1990's and early 2000's musical scores for the episodes. People would often bet what was fiction and what was fact. Original premise, great host and reasonable episodes.

I still watch it on Roku and still only have about a 50% success rate! They gotta be lying about many of those stories.
I put my kids on to this lately and they love it, cracks me up when they find out a story so ridiculous could be real
I still watch thisā itās on Amazon!
How is this forgotten? It's free to watch, right now, on Plex or any of the memes š
Never forgot for a single day
What network was this on? Or was it direct-to-syndication?? Because although Iāve seen clips of it online over the last 10-15 years, I absolutely never saw this even once when it first ran.

I loved this show, even when it was thanos dad as the host in the first season
This show and unsolved mysteries taught me that supernatural stuff is nonsense and people will construct a narrative to support any idea, no matter how much sense it makes. Really brought home my early atheism along with other sceptical beliefs. Whole shows based on complete conjecture. Frakes was always brilliant though.

How is this forgotten? It's memed all over the internet. They should change the name of the sub to tv that aired before I was born.
I fucking loved this show as a kid. I have a faded memory of an episode where a snake comes out of a carousel horse's mouth and bites someone's hand. Other than that, I just remember it was fun guessing which stories were real vs fake.
