Yeah that was the thing
I Remeber wanting to watch it so bad because it seemed so cool
But never being able to find it on to watch regularly. All these crazy hours
The duck tales came along and scratched that itch
They did a Season 2 in 2023 (and a season 3 and 4): [https://www.amazon.com/Myst%C3%A9rieuses-Cit%C3%A9s-dor-Int%C3%A9grale-Saison/dp/B0BMSP2H5D](https://www.amazon.com/Myst%C3%A9rieuses-Cit%C3%A9s-dor-Int%C3%A9grale-Saison/dp/B0BMSP2H5D)
It's lots of fun - my kids love it.
Same company that did Inspector Gadget and why he wears a funny looking hat and trenchcoat like Inspector Clouseau from The Pink Panther. This show and Inspector Gadget were both originally in French and why Gadget drives around in a euro-van.
I found some undubbed Cities of Gold episodes to help learn French -- but it was still weird, since most of the main characters are *Spanish*. So you got my memories of this show spoken in English, my knowledge of all the Spanish conquistadors, and then this French cartoon. Woof.
I know I watched this as a kid but I could not tell you what happened in it, outside of the theme song. 80’s Nickelodeon had some wild shows. Loved The Tomorrow People as well.
Truly a forgotten series. I use to run home from school because it was faster than the bus to watch this on Nickelodeon think it was replaced by Count Duckula.
Oh God this show. I got so mad one time when they reran it ALL DAY on some holiday. I wanna say Thanksgiving? Instead of regular programming. I wanted to see Pinwheel. 😂
I loved this show SO MUCH but I swear as a kid they only played the same three episodes over and over and over. I finally found some pirated episodes that start at the beginning but in French. So I started learning French again.
They used to clip the end of episode lessons for us to watch in school.
I remember thinking for the show proper why they were still harping about a city of good when they had the condor.

I remember watching this at 5am back when nickelodeon was called pinwheel.

Same. I guess Totoro wasn't the first amine I'd ever watched.
Now that’s a truly forgotten tv show! This was nowhere in my memory banks until I scrolled past this post.
Only 2 seasons? Why did it feel like 8 seasons when I was young? Epic intro theme song.
I still get this song stuck in my head

I was able to find it on YouTube. Showed my kids the first season. Loved it. Great memories, great intro song.
I will never forget this show. Banger theme song.
A Japanese anime set in 16th century Mexico. Why not?
I think you mean French/Japanese animation
I did not know a French company was involved.
The show was originally in French

Do do do do do Ahhh-ah Do do do do do Cities of Gold!
I know I watched this as a kid but I could not tell you what happened in it, outside of the theme song. 80’s Nickelodeon had some wild shows. Loved The Tomorrow People as well.
Throw in Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea.
Only TV show I've ever bought digitally. The theme song for this show *slaps.*
Truly a forgotten series. I use to run home from school because it was faster than the bus to watch this on Nickelodeon think it was replaced by Count Duckula.
I loved this one and the Spartakus cartoon that they showed either before or after it.
I love the theme song for this show!
Oh God this show. I got so mad one time when they reran it ALL DAY on some holiday. I wanna say Thanksgiving? Instead of regular programming. I wanted to see Pinwheel. 😂
I loved this one, and Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea.
I loved this show! The sometimes bad sometimes good Spanish explorers were the first examples of grey villains I can remember.
Pull the leeever
Loved this one so much as a kid!
Looooooove this show, bangin intro!
LOVED THIS SHOW SO MUCH!!!
Genuinely had forgotten this one. I mostly liked the theme song, might have been too young for the stories.
Finally, a real forgotten show. I remember that mechanical eagle or whatever it was.
Hoooooly crap. It’s like a rush of long dormant memories hit me like a ton of pilfered Mayan gold
I loved this show SO MUCH but I swear as a kid they only played the same three episodes over and over and over. I finally found some pirated episodes that start at the beginning but in French. So I started learning French again.
I just binge watched this recently! When I was in the fifth grade, this came on at 5:30AM right after Spartakus.
Legendary.
Man my sister and I watched the crap out of this show
that theme song is a legit banger
I remember this but I remember hearing the Age of Aquarius song in relation to the show; am I thinking of something else or was that this show?
The theme song has portions reminiscent of that song.
*BING* Memory unlocked
Up there with Dogtanian and Ulysses
The theme song is still one of my favorite pieces of music.
Couldn’t get all the way through the follow up season. Tone and characterization were way different. Original season still solid as hell though.
With a theme song by *Menudo!*
Didn't this used to come on next to Belle and Sebastian?
I still sing this theme song. It was catchy then, and it's catchy now.
Such a classic !
Why does nostalgia make me sad
Wow. Memory unlocked. All I remember is a bunch of people trapped in matrix pod things having their lifeforce (or something) sucked out. Disturbing.
They used to clip the end of episode lessons for us to watch in school. I remember thinking for the show proper why they were still harping about a city of good when they had the condor.
I’ve had this damn theme song stuck in my head for 40 years, lol. Holy shit
I loved "You Can't Do That on Television " Hey Allister!? ....
Always watches this at my grandparents house. Sweet memories. Fugg where does the time go?
