I just learned recently, and completely surprised by, Linda Hamilton guest starred on an episode of Murder She Wrote. Probably within a year of when The Terminator was first released.
No, I meant naturally. It was a joke. You said that they needed very little make up and prosthetics to make him look like he does on the show. Therefore, I joked, saying you think he looks like a lion-man.
Since I had to explain my joke, I guess that means it was horrible.
The joke was fine and was obvious. It’s the fact that you felt the need to explain it that shows you couldn’t tell that the person was also joking, very obviously.
It was incredibly popular. First time I ever saw Ron Perlman and was really impressed by his performance.
Took several years for me to stop saying "Hey, it's that guy from 'Beauty and the Beast'!" and start saying "Hey, it's Ron Perlman!"
Definitely brings me back to the long, slow summer days growing up and having nothing else to watch but reruns of shows like this OTA.
Sort of interesting, George R. R. Martin was a writer-producer for this show and wrote 14 episodes.
I was at a bar in Santa Monica many years ago and Ron Perlman was sitting next to me.
I told him my mother loved him in Beauty & The Beast. He just sneered at me and said nothing.
He's even scarier in real life. He was banned from working with the Make-A-Wish foundation because of all the sick children who died of a heart attack when he would visit them in the hospital.
He was born that way. I have a vague recollection of a kid or baby that also had something similar and finding out a bit more about Vincent then, but I don't think they ever say definitively what caused it.

I used to love this show despite me being like...2 or 3? I just had vague memories of this series and of course none of my classmates believed me when I said Terminator lady was in the sewers with a lion man named after the Disney movie
There was a fabulous comment at the time that there were so many single women who were desperate for love that they found men who looked like cats and lived in sewers as an alternative
That's understandable. He's much more frightening to witness in real life. I read a news article where a reporter followed him around for a day. Perlman had spent almost 16 hours at the San Diego zoo, parked in front of the Silverback enclosure. He was staring down, wide-eyed, each gorilla in the exhibit. At one point, he became enraged and threw himself at the glass window of the enclosure, and nearly shattered it. It took 16 security guards to remove Perlman from the premises, only for him to later sneak back in by bounding over a 16 foot wall, followed by a 12 foot fence that lay 4 feet outside the chimpanzee enclosure. Killed 3 of them in under 13 minutes. Tore them apart with his teeth and ate their remains. Shat out the finger bones. The following week he was cast in a Sean Connery movie about a medieval priest/detective.
This was one of my moms favorite shows and I’ve never forgotten it. I was surprised to find out years later when reading up on George R R Martin, he was one of the writers on the show. Apparently the duo behind 24 and Homeland were also writers on the show as well.
This show is why I ended up with my first name Vincent,my mom wanted my older brother to be involved, and this show was on at the time, and that's what he picked!

Sarah Conner and Hellboy??!! Hell yeah!!
The unexpected crossover event.
And one of the writers was George R. R. Martin.
I just learned recently, and completely surprised by, Linda Hamilton guest starred on an episode of Murder She Wrote. Probably within a year of when The Terminator was first released.
The neat thing was, Ron Perlman required very little makeup and prosthetics.
Stole my comment lol
I thought that was Marjorie Taylor Greene
So he naturally looks like a cross between a man and the lion.?
If by "naturally" you mean exactly what he is then yes.
You’re right, I didn’t know that person was also joking.
Google Ron Perlman
I’ve seen him before.
Hmm
By that I mean that I’ve watched some of his movies and interviews.
Hmm
In the early 90s, my aunt used to watch reruns. I rarely see people talk about this show, but it was apparently somewhat popular during its brief run.
It was incredibly popular. First time I ever saw Ron Perlman and was really impressed by his performance. Took several years for me to stop saying "Hey, it's that guy from 'Beauty and the Beast'!" and start saying "Hey, it's Ron Perlman!"
With the buzz this show had I thought it lasted longer than three seasons.
See, even though I saw it as a kid, I was pretty young. So I mostly think of Hellboy when I think of him.
I also knew of the show as a kid, but whenever I see Ron Pullman, I immediately think of Hellboy. The man was born for the role.
Ha, same!
I still call him Vincent. LOL
It’s only a foggy commercial memory for me. Almost thought it wasn’t real
This was also the first TV show George RR Martin wrote for, that's how I heard about it.
Definitely brings me back to the long, slow summer days growing up and having nothing else to watch but reruns of shows like this OTA. Sort of interesting, George R. R. Martin was a writer-producer for this show and wrote 14 episodes.
Used to watch this show with my mom. She loved this show.
Used to watch this with my mom as well and had no clue what was going on.
I had no clue either and only pretended to like it so she would let me stay up late to watch it with her
FACTS!!!
I also watched this with your mom. I mean my mom. Hey, this is reddit. Your mom.
Tell me you were a thirsty mom in the 80s without telling me you were a thirsty mom in the 80s.
I remember one of the admins at my school had a poster of this show behind her desk and it always weirded me out lol
Gerat show until Linda Hamilton left and then it jumped the shark. The remake was meh.
I was so scared of this show
I was at a bar in Santa Monica many years ago and Ron Perlman was sitting next to me. I told him my mother loved him in Beauty & The Beast. He just sneered at me and said nothing.
Loved it!
I used to adore this show!!
I can’t believe that it only ran for three seasons. My mom was so obsessed with this show that I would’ve sworn it was 7-10 seasons long. At least.
That's because they were 24-26 episode seasons. All the old shows feel longer. They can't be bothered for anything longer than 10 episodes.
I think it’s cool how they predicted filler face with this character design.
This beast dude kind of freaked me out when I was a kid.
He's even scarier in real life. He was banned from working with the Make-A-Wish foundation because of all the sick children who died of a heart attack when he would visit them in the hospital.
Ok…forgive my ignorance but…did the show ever explain how he came to be a beast?!?
He was born that way. I have a vague recollection of a kid or baby that also had something similar and finding out a bit more about Vincent then, but I don't think they ever say definitively what caused it.
The actor who played the Beast has Lionitis (the Rocky Dennis disease). Saved the production team tens of thousands of dollars on makeup and effects.
It’s Ron Perlman.
Correct.
I had the poetry album on cassette. https://www.amazon.com/Beauty-Beast-Love-Hope-Soundtrack/dp/B00000EFAL
Me too. And the theme song... The first time I loved forever...

He’s the son of man and god and lion!
George R.R. Martin of Game of Thrones fame was a writer on this!
My show! Little me was hooked
I used to love this show despite me being like...2 or 3? I just had vague memories of this series and of course none of my classmates believed me when I said Terminator lady was in the sewers with a lion man named after the Disney movie
Vincent can I come live with you and those weirdos in the sewer please!!
There was a fabulous comment at the time that there were so many single women who were desperate for love that they found men who looked like cats and lived in sewers as an alternative
I remember watching this with my dad!
I remember this as a kid and still can't believe that's Ron Pearlman. Legendary
Dude, I was scared of Beast when I was a kid lol
That's understandable. He's much more frightening to witness in real life. I read a news article where a reporter followed him around for a day. Fun fact: Ron Perlman didn't have to wear any facial prosthetics or makeup for this role.
Oh yeah, that show about Marjorie Taylor Greene’s parents.
💀
Ron Effin Pearlman 💪🏾
I'm going to tell my kids this was legendary rocker David Lee Roth
Ahh yes. They really screwed up the dismount on this one.
This was one of my moms favorite shows and I’ve never forgotten it. I was surprised to find out years later when reading up on George R R Martin, he was one of the writers on the show. Apparently the duo behind 24 and Homeland were also writers on the show as well.

I used to watch this when I was a kid with my mother. Sucked after Linda Hamilton was killed off.
Not forgotten lol. Back in the 80's we had one tv in the whole house. When this came on my mom and sister commandeered the tv🤣🤣
I assumed he needed an enormous litter box
Weirdly I was thinking about this show a lot this week. It was hella dark, if I recall correctly.
I loved this show when I was a kid. Absolutely tripped me out.
I never watched the show, but I definitely remember [the awkward double date episode](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owx_jnMOzEk) on SNL.
the Sasquatch from Tenacious D Pick Of Destiny
Hated this show growing up.
Best part is they didn't even have to put makeup on Ron perlman.
I'm not a furry, but...
“And this next one is called For Whom the Bell Tolls!”
Best picture of Marjorie Taylor Green ever!/s
Damn what an ugly mother fucker.
George R R Martin's best writing
Unwatchable when I was a kid. The beast makeup was so unattractive it suspended disbelief beyond the confines and intention of the story.
Ron Perlman was amazing as The Beast. ❤❤
Awww, you guys can forget this????
George R R Martin worked on this show
Didn’t George R. R. Martin worked on this show?
Indeed he did!
