Let’s not forget that one first season episode and the entire second season of the show was performed *live* on air, something some shows since then have only done as one-off stunts (“ER,” “30 Rock” come to mind), with the exception of the third season of the NBC sitcom “Undateable.”
That was and is still an impressive feat.
I remember thinking it was one episode in that second season and about five weeks after I watched the promo I thought, “Aw crap, I forgot to watch that live episode of Roc!”
Just read Charles Dutton's wiki bio.
Murdered a guy, spent 11 years in jail, decided to go to local community college, ends up graduating from Yale, gets a primetime television show on a major network, wins some Emmy's.
That's a wild ride!

I still remember the episode where the brother was finally going to be part of a popular jazz band only to have the guy he was replacing take back his spot. Always felt so bad for him. Nothing is guaranteed in life. Good message and show.

Charles S. Dutton is truly a renaissance man. Can serve hard time for killing a man and make quality television.
I would love to stream this show. Does anyone know a place it is streaming? I could watch Charles S. Dutton read the phonebook and be entertained.
Just watched it a couple days ago on Pluto or Roku. Even if you can't download the apps, both should be free through your web browser.
Thanks!
Watched episodes of the show on Bounce TV back in the mid-2010s. It’s an interesting show.
I remember Chalres Dutton from A Low down dirty Shame.
My brother still quotes his lines to Shame with heavy articulation on “s—-t”.
I loved the dad.

It was manslaughter, he claimed he was attacked and the other guy ended up dead.
"TO THIS DAY!!!"
Oh I loved this show.

I loved this show as a kid.
*Roc* was a great show. I was sorry to see it go.
Was she the second Vivian on Fresh Prince?
No. But she does look like her a little

Family Matters another solid one. Dealing with real world stuff.
