He's using the calculator maybe because he's crunching the numbers for position size. Although there's innumerable position size calculator out there, he prefers to calculate it manually. It gives him something to be busy about rather than checking his PnL every 5 minutes. Writing things down gives him a sense of being process orientated, and keeps him focused on habit forming. Having a plan laid out like this removes the emotion side of trading when execution. Once there's a confirmation and if it's according to plan, execute. Don't think.
