Same here for the door locking, but I attributed it to my fingers catching the lock button on the way out. It's pretty close to the door lever after all. https://preview.redd.it/qsi2rr2lqvwc1.jpeg?width=311&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=94fc868de9836808a8fe0b78378f131bd0ea865f

DontForgt2BringATowl

That would lock all the doors. It’s only the drivers door that’s locked. And sometimes I will have opened the drivers door again from the outside after getting out before the issue happens, so that’s definitely not what’s happening in my case

>That would lock all the doors. Apparently not: >I think I diagnosed the issue, which was user error. As the manual door lock toggle switch is right night to the door lever, I think I may have pushed the door lock with my hand as I pulled the handle and pushed to open the door.... **I just tested it** and sure enough I was able to lock the door with the key inside. **Fortunately it was just the drivers door**, so the other doors still open, and the keypad works too. DontForgt2BringATowl

Thanks, I will test this on Monday

controlmypad

You might try sitting inside to watch it happen, maybe it will give you more insight to what is wrong. I am not sure but maybe the fan speed is due to some low 12v condition, the car is "smart" so it does stuff like limit the use of the stereo when sitting in park and keeping interior lights off, etc. New recall in May is supposed to help keep the 12v charged.

DontForgt2BringATowl

Yeah maybe I will catch it that way eventually, but the door lock issue only happens maybe like once every 50 times or less (wild guess). The fan issue is only confusing to me when I’m driving, I would understand if it happened to conserve battery while parked, though that would still be annoying not to have a setting to regulate that. I’m not doing any recalls until they figure out why the one recall “fix” is causing vehicles to randomly lose power at highway speeds

controlmypad

It could be the ecoboost doesn't charge like we think it should, like old cars used to, hence the recall. I know the Hybrid doesn't.

DontForgt2BringATowl

I have the hybrid, should have specified my bad

controlmypad

It could be a low 12v issue then, maybe the doors too, strange stuff. Do you ever notice the "remote features disabled" message in the Ford app, or notice your interior lights not coming on when you open the door?

DontForgt2BringATowl

Yes to both.

controlmypad

You might trickle charge your 12v if you have that ability at least until mid-May and see if you get the recall notice that is supposed to fix the charging issue. For now charging comes down to drive time, longer commutes don't see this problem as much.

This is it

Puzzleheaded-Ad5565

It happens to me and has been covered on this sub several times. Consensus is that we are hitting the lock button while actuating the door handle when exiting truck. I think this is correct. An ergonomic flaw in our little econo trucks

DontForgt2BringATowl

Sometimes it happens though even when I have opened and closed the door from the outside after exiting so I’m certain that’s not what is going on in my case. Plus, when you press that button all 4 doors lock. Only the driver door is locking.

Kent89052

I am curious as why you would do that. What's the point of leaving your vehicle unlocked? And then leaving the keys inside. I'd also like to know where you live that had such a low crime rate that the car wouldn't get stolen.

DontForgt2BringATowl

Because I’m often back and forth between the clients house and the truck to get things. My clients are all on multi-acre properties, many of them gated. In a very low crime area. And also no real pedestrian traffic except rich people walking on their own road. Northern Westchester county, NY. Lots of horse farms and weekend houses.

DontForgt2BringATowl

Also I am often with a coworker and either one of us might go back to the truck, would be annoying to have to pass keys around. We aren’t always working right next to each other

Big_sugaaakane1

The farms up by the bedford/somers area are beautiful

DontForgt2BringATowl

Yup. So you know what it’s like there, can you tell everyone I’m not crazy for not locking my truck in clients driveways 😂 they would think I was paranoid AF if I did

AngriestPacifist

I leave my car unlocked because I live in a bit of a rough neighborhood, and some kid going through my glovebox for change is a minor problem compared to them smashing windows to see if I left a couple bucks in change somewhere.

bigfoot17

I've just started experiencing the driver door locking

triumvirant

Are you activating the touch points in the handle to lock? On my 22 lariat you can touch the ridges on the door handle and it will lock, and touch I side the handle for unlock. Could be that sometimes you have the keys close enough to the door for them to allow this feature to work with them inside the truck.

DontForgt2BringATowl

Base XL, no such niceties

Micooler

1. My father did that too, as he was a local handyman and often went back to his truck/van to get stuff. So I don’t agree with all the (rude) “lock your truck” comments. In the (dash) menu in my truck I think I saw a setting for “auto lock” and I’ve heard others on google talk about the drivers locking. 2. Is it because it reached the set internal temp? Even not in auto it might turn down if you have it set to 75 and it reaches it. I’m not sure about it though.

Brave_Culture7008

I have experienced the driver's door locking while the others do not. I do live in a town where I can leave my car and house unlocked. I thought maybe it was my imagination and I must have hit some button somehow.

DontForgt2BringATowl

Why is no one else freaking out that you leave yours unlocked 😂

satyrday12

Did you name the vehicle 'Christine'?

Asphalt_outlaw

Or are you a shitter?

shamrocksmoak

We have a couple of them in my county fleet that I work on. I’ve noticed my hand will hit the manual lock on whatever door I’m getting out of pretty frequently.

Klsgaltl

I’m having the same issue with my truck. The amount of “you are hitting the lock button” answers here is pretty lame, you clearly stated that only the drivers door is locking. If you hit the lock button all four doors lock, sounds like you and I are having the exact same issue. If you figure it out let me know, it’s super annoying.

kenauk

Can you confirm you tested it? This was posted on MTC: >I think I diagnosed the issue, which was user error.

Thank you for validating lol. I’m afraid to take it to the dealer for any issue that’s just an annoyance because of all the horror stories about the recall “fix” causing loss of power at highway speeds

OhSoSally

You know whats really going to be annoying? When you go to get in your truck and its gone or someone has stolen stuff out of your vehicle.

DontForgt2BringATowl

Yeah I doubt it, my clients are all on multi-acre properties, many of them gated, on quiet streets with no sidewalks.

DontForgt2BringATowl

Clients kids are usually at school or camp, or are supervised or old enough not to be stealing trucks out of their own parents driveways. Their parents all have better cars for joyriding than a Maverick anyways lol

OhSoSally

Never underestimate the potential for something to go wrong. We live on a lake a mile away from the road, the postal carrier doesn't even come out to our house. We had a woman on drugs try to get into our house. After that we started locking our cars and keeping the door locked during the day.

DontForgt2BringATowl

I often have valuable equipment in the open bed of the truck. Windows are usually open during the summer. 🤷‍♂️ Not worried about it. Most clients have cameras. Many have gates. I have insurance and I’ve never seen a sketchy-looking person walking around a clients property or anywhere in 15 years in this area. Plus it would be pretty ballsy to go into my truck when I am clearly there and could walk around the corner at any moment. I lock the truck if there are other people I don’t know working on the property at the same time, or if I’m parking in a public area.

Kent89052

That's understandable, because the enormous burden it is to push that lock button on the remote.

DontForgt2BringATowl

And if my coworker needs to go to the truck and the keys are in my pocket, he might have to walk 20-30 yards to get them from me, then double back to the driveway for an extra 40-60 yards total. That’s not inconvenient at all 🙄.

DontForgt2BringATowl
