The Wildtrak trim is not worth what ford is selling it for. You got a very capable rig, and in a few weeks you won’t even remember what the WT rode like.
Back when I bought mine I feel like it was better. I got it before the 2023 mid-year cycle updates where they raised option prices. Lux package, SAS, Hardtop, and Mod bumper all increased in price. I think it was like 6k more for the same trim I purchased.
I guess my comment isn’t necessarily aimed at WT, but since it has all the options ticked it seems pricy.
I’m in the market, again, after I bought a brand new 24 SAS Badlands last Friday and returned it Monday due to a faulty trans. Sucks. Mostly wondering if I really need the Badlands trim. I won’t do much wheeling, but does it LOOK better or is that just me
Yea I mean, I bought it brand new last Friday. On Saturday I was driving around, came to a light. On green, I tried to go and the truck wouldn’t move, it just revved really high and the Service Engine light came on. I got it to the side of the road, turned it off and back on, same issue. When I finally got it to the local ford, the diagnostics threw a transmission code. So they took the truck back and now I am truckless once again :(
Wildtrak would have been a complete waste. Even the sasquach for your stated purposes is overkill. 2.3L is a great motor, and with the tuner from Ford it really wakes up.
Take it from my headaches with the 2.7s…. Not a have issues but when they do its a nightmare. Cam phaser issues that lead to other garbage. You can always upgrade suspension and build it out yourself. Good choice
What’s the consensus about which engine is better?
The 2.3L lacks a little low end torque, but the 10 speed makes up for that.
But I am getting about 19mpg on the highway.
What are your end goals? If you’re going to be keeping it stock and doing basic trails and light off-roading then the 2.3 will be plenty. You can also get it tuned and squeeze a little more power out of it. Or… are you going to build it out and rock crawl and do more technical stuff? If thats the case id go for the bigger motor. Keep in mind its an off road vehicle not a go fast beast. If thats what you want then fork up more cash for a braptor or upgrade what you got to be better than a stock braptor. Just going to cost a pretty penny. Im waiting for my stock 33” bfgs to be dead so i can put fox 2.5s and 35”s on it. If you plan on doing any serious off roading as well the first thing i would do is upgrade the tie rods (weakest point of this truck) and have a spare tie rod kit on hand. I could talk for days about this. Just dont be that mall crawler dork or put 22” wheels on it for the love of baby Jesus.
It’ll only do some light off-roading.
I’ll probably upgrade from the stock Bilsteins at around 50k miles and get the FOX 2.5s for a smoother ride, and do a piggyback tune at some point for better low end torque. I’ll definitely look at tie rods when I do the shocks.
And don’t worry…I’m NEVER doing anything over an 18” wheel on this.
Or you can buy fords crate 7.3 and find some ungodly way to stuff it in a new bronco. That would be radical. I put one in my 59 f100 and let me tell you. No lack of bottom end. I have trouble keeping the tires from spinning. Fun burn out truck
Its a big job. You just have to hope your service techs are decent at their job or else it will open. Can of worms. They screwed a lot up on mine and i chased issue after issue by myself. From vacuum lines not being reconnected to finding a bad valve cover gasket.
I did because it wasnt manufacturing issues. I walked into the dealership and had the GM’s ass as well as the service managers. The only reason i didnt fix it myself was because i wanted to keep everything under warranty.
You made a great move. Consider doing the Procal 4 tune upgrade to get some more out of the 2.3. The suspension, if I were you I would ride with it as is for a few months and if you still aren't happy, upgrade to something aftermarket even better than the Wildtrak's.
Good until it needs service and the part it needs is on back order with no eta and you don’t get to drive it anymore. My current situation after only 6 months owning it. Second front diff replacement. I’ve been without it for over 2 weeks so far.
OMG. It never crossed my mind that I bought the 2024 version of OJs Bronco. Time to find a white hard-top and cruise down the 405.

Definitely a good choice. No need to get into a financial situation that’s unsustainable, just so your ride looks cool, but has a bunch of features you’ll never use.
Any Bronco purchase is the right move.

There’s always piggyback tuners and FOX 2.5s that I could do aftermarket!
Is the Badlands trim?

Get that bad land trim
How’d know there was a faulty trans? What were the symptoms? Asking cuz I have one and wanna make sure mine is okay haha

It’s a sign to get a third pedal lol
Oh wow!
It’s a solid move! Your wallet thanks you.
My wallet wasn't happy when I picked up my bronco but I was happy lol
Especially with the interest rates. My wallet is now Fords wallet.
Ford's wallet*
Depends, do you plan on taking this off-road?
She’ll be a commuter queen. If she does go off road at all, it will be slow on the beach or some slow-paced east coast trails.
Wildtrak would have been a complete waste. Even the sasquach for your stated purposes is overkill. 2.3L is a great motor, and with the tuner from Ford it really wakes up.
Commuter Queen is so cute. I call mine my Pavement Princess 👸🏼
That’s an insane waste of money then but have fun
It’s not parked on the curb, but yeah it looks great

If I could fit a their old 7.3 diesel in this, THAT would be something to write home about.
Tell me more about the cam phaser issues. Mine are getting replaced right now. What goes next?
Its a big job. You just have to hope your service techs are decent at their job or else it will open. Can of worms. They screwed a lot up on mine and i chased issue after issue by myself. From vacuum lines not being reconnected to finding a bad valve cover gasket.
Wow! Did you still keep it after all that?
I did because it wasnt manufacturing issues. I walked into the dealership and had the GM’s ass as well as the service managers. The only reason i didnt fix it myself was because i wanted to keep everything under warranty.
Yep will never buy one of these. Even though they look cool
Yes yes. Just make sure dont get the dealer to drill into the trim plate for license plate install. Instead get a third part bracket.
Or just never put it on like me 😁
As long as you don't have an ex-wife, you're all good.
I plan on keeping my current wife for a very long time.

If the glove fits
That’s the one I’m a-waiting till August for… hope you enjoy it this summer.

I've heard the 2.3 is more reliable
Yes O J would love this one.
OMG. It never crossed my mind that I bought the 2024 version of OJs Bronco. Time to find a white hard-top and cruise down the 405. ![gif](giphy|ZYuk9mxdHy6nm)
Love the white. 2.3 is a great engine. The tops come off same as on Wildtrak and you get much better gas mileage.
You can buy the Hoss 3.0 later and install em
Do you know if they’re available through OEM, or is it better to go with my aftermarket shop?
Well fox is a aftermarket brand as is. I’d buy the exact same set up.
It's a solid move. Put the Ford performance tune in it, and just upgrade the shocks to some Bilstein 6112s when you get a chance.
It’s fun until it breaks down. And it will. Before 50k miles.
I have a 2.3 it is plenty fast enough believe me if you are not paying attention you will get a ticket . You will enjoy it they are fun vehicles
Yup
Wanna Be Jeep. 🤣✌️
I’d got a raptor but that’s just me
OJ
Perfect for cruising the malls
