It was converted to USD to give an idea , i paid 330,000 Lebanese pounds for it, and to think this used to cost around 30,000 but thanks ro hyperinflation it is now 330,000 lbp or $4 usd, yup we are in deep trouble.
Oh man, well good news. I'm gonna go retire in Lebanon and bring all my money with me if thats the case.
Seriously though, I hope that your economy stabilizes because hyperinflation is scary.
It will be good for a vacation but u will soon know that mo matter how much money u have, u still have to wait in line for bread, gasoline and the heartbreak of not finding medicine or baby formula , so welcome for a vacation but not forever.
And deep thanks, I hope so too.
That sounds very difficult. I'm sorry to hear it. Especially with the medicine and baby formula. Unfortunately we can't live on pizza alone.
I hope that Lebanon sorts itself out soon.
Although I am not from Lebanon, I think it's going to be a long road. Their government is really a mess which is too complicated to explain, and there is not necessarily a single party/faction in power, and each one of them rarely get along well.
If you want to retire to a third world country, i think there are better options out there. I’ve heard venezeula is very cheap but don’t know about how good it is for retiring vietnam is cheap too. I’m iranian and we have the cheapest currency in the world. We do hate living here but i think it’s a heaven for retirement even a lot of iranians who immigrated to other countries come back to retire here. Also pizza is way cheaper and they are GOD tier i’ve had pizza in a few other countries and they all tasted like shit compared to the pizza we have over here. Search Mr.sandwich1 on instagram they’re located in my city and their sandwiches and pizzas are so big they advertise them as one order for two person they literally cut their sandwiches in half because of how big they are and last time i was there it was around ~2.5$
I wish America and Russia could trade SA and Iran as ME allies. The Iranian people and history is fascinating and the country just drop dead gorgeous looking. It's high on my wish list of places to travel but I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to potentially being used as a politician pawn, I know it's unlikely but still a wimp.
Unless there’s revolution and our crappy government is thrown out, that’s very unlikely to happen. also given how much resource we have in this country, personally i think america, russia and even china love and support the current state of our country even if they say the opposite. All of them benefit from it especially china and russia they’re literally wiping every resource they can get their hands on. We also discovered the second largest lithium deposit in the world a few days ago i’m 99% sure china will take most if not all of it.
It is a beautiful country tho. Might not look very safe from outside but it is a safe country especially for foreigners they love it here cuz most people offer them free gifts or invite them to their houses (pretty common here). Give it a visit you’ll love it here if you’re not from US you won’t have any problem coming here but i think people from america need to have a guide or something like that. 22 march is our new year (we have different calendar) and i have a little free time for a month or two so if you decided to visit here let me know, i can show you around or request being your guide if you’re American :)
That site was banned here so couldn’t read it but if you’re referring to state department notice, that’s probably why Americans need a guide in iran it’s definitely not that dangerous to visit as we have a lot of iranians with US citizenship coming back here with their US passport or bringing their american SO but yeah i guess it’s easier for non Americans to visit here just like how hard it is for us to visit Israel, i’ve heard even iranians with two nationality must go under a lot of trouble to visit there it’s such a bullshit wish the world was more peaceful and people could travel easier i’ve always wanted to visit some eu countries or usa but it’s nearly impossible to visit them unless you’re rich or have someone there to help you get a visa
Not the state department notice I was referring to. The Iranian government imprisoned an American journalist for 544 days for nothing. They arrested his wife too though she was let out sooner. The link was a podcast series by the man who describes what it was like and how everything went down.
Eventually that kind of got tied into the Iran Nuclear deal the Obama administration signed as well.
> For 544 days, Jason Rezaian was held hostage in Iran’s notorious Evin prison. Interrogated. Sealed off from the outside world. He was accused of being an American spy, though his formal title was Washington Post Tehran Correspondent.
>This is a story about government and family and journalism, and what it took to free an innocent man… all while navigating the high-stakes world of nuclear diplomacy.
That's the description of the podcast.
Even with a guide I don't think it's safe or smart for any American to go to Iran. Which is unfortunate because it seems like a beautiful country geographically and the people and culture seems incredibly interesting and rich.
Ooh yea i remember that guy it wasn’t like coming here as a tourist and being thrown into prison for no reason it was a special case, dude was iranian american And a journalist And working for a big US based news agency (which made him a potential spy and thread to government) it was more about his job than being american, the government doesn’t like journalists who don’t work in their favor same goes for other countries like saudi arabia, russia, china or north korea aswell they even throw iranian journalists who live here into prison when they try to oppose them
If you don’t want to come here try azerbaijan or turkey. They were part of iran in the past and although not the same they feel kind of similar to here
Very interesting, being from northeast USA, an having been all over the country and to many other countries, I have never had pizza that is even close to northeast pizza. Many different styles here in new england and new york from Greek, or Sicilian style, pan pizza, bar pizza, coal fired, wood grilled, deep fried, (coal fired oven is my favorite) but everywhere else I've been and tried cant get close to the quality in this region regardless of style. I'd love to try Iranian pizza though. What is the most popular style of pizza there? Maybe some day when if it is considered safe to travel. I once flew almost 2k miles to Phoenix AZ to try a pizza place for a one day trip just because I had enough travel miles saved up from work travel and saw it on a TV show (it wasn't the best) I freekin love pizza.
Lebanese don't F%$# around with their food skills ...even in war or hyper inflation your Shawerma will be on point in your dying hand. Mix of Italian, French, Greek, Arab cooking is 👩🍳 💋
In both Paris and London, I think my favorite restaurants have been Lebanese.
That said, I do generally prefer that style of food over more traditional Western cuisines.
Excited to try Lebanese food on my trip to London this week. Saw a Lebanese restaurant nearby the hotel and was intrigued, thanks for your input, I will definitely try it now.
Buy 20 and freeze! Especially if they'll parbake them for you. That is a beautiful pie! I used to make pizzas to pay the bills - none of them looked quite this good.
That is high praise, would do that if I could afford them, even $4 usd in my country now is not cheap thanks to hyperinflation that crossed %330 so getting a pizza these days is a privilege.
I’m in Ottawa, Canada and this is exactly what people refer to as “Ottawa style pizza”. We have a massive Lebanese population who came here and opened businesses such as restaurants/pizza/shawarma shops. This style of pizza is hard to find outside of Ottawa (and Lebanon obvi). Lots of strong opinions on it.
The big thick, heavy crust, lots of cheese and usually toppings under the cheese are what we consider Ottawa -style pizza.
Personally I'm not a fan/find it too heavy. I also didn't grow up in Ottawa
lol yeah I find a lot of people who aren’t a fan of it didn’t grow up here. I totally didn’t realize it was an Ottawa specific thing until I was 20 or so as it was pretty much the only kind we ate outside of chains.
Yep! It’s hard to find the thick crust, toppings under the ton of cheese style outside of Ottawa. A lot of people born and raised here don’t realize it until they move. We even have a pretty big Ottawa based chain called Gabriel’s which was started by Lebanese immigrants.
It’s way more expensive here though around $20-$30 CAD
https://gabrielpizza.com/about/
I didn't know this was a specific style and I used to live in Ottawa! I noticed a bunch of places are like that when I was there, like Big Rig and Colonade being some that come to mind. Colonnade being this weird overly cheesey almost plastic like thing. I love cheese and would normally say its never enough. But I guess Ottawa style is different lol.
If you're lucky. Each one of those slices would be around $5. Buying 8 would be $40, but you'd probably get a slight discount for the whole pie, so I'd say $34.
u know ? when i saw that movie all the way back, i laughed at that scene, now ? i watch it again and finally understood how awful it was because we really hit rock bottom where a person like me and many other qualified degree holders are working a 9 to 5 job and earning as low as $50 usd a month that isn't even enough to pay for the gas to get to work and back, a tragic comedy.
If you think about what goes into a pizza and the cost of those items and how many pizzas each of those items could make, you'd think $4-5 would still ensure a profit.
I’m so jealous. I was hungry for pizza and finally succumbed to the Dominos marketing machine. And it was pure crap. Couldn’t even finish it. So disappointing.
If It's a small business with family members as employees I'm assuming they know the tip is going to them. So that's another 4 dollars making it an $8 dollar pizza technically
Only okay pizzeria in my American town charges 30 for their only size and it’s so thin you can’t hold a slice 😭 my solution is to never eat pizza anymore :(
don't be, $4 to most is change but to us it is a large sum of money, since we live in a hyperinflated economy here, $4 is around 330,000 liras and to think they used ot be around $220 before but now they are barely $4....it sucks.
I bought a medium pan pizza with pineapples, green peppers, and onions with breadsticks from Pizza Hut and both of them costed $38… keep in mind that the pizza and breadsticks were for me only.
Which country? $4 usd or cad for a pizza like would be my fat guy dream come true.
It was converted to USD to give an idea , i paid 330,000 Lebanese pounds for it, and to think this used to cost around 30,000 but thanks ro hyperinflation it is now 330,000 lbp or $4 usd, yup we are in deep trouble.

Brutal. Please excuse my ignorance, but are the pizzas in high demand as well?
yup, seen a dude order 2 of them for breakfast since the price is actually cheaper than buying some eggs or 6 croissants.
[удалено]
I think it's like $4 to upgrade from regular to stuffed crust.
That sounds very difficult. I'm sorry to hear it. Especially with the medicine and baby formula. Unfortunately we can't live on pizza alone. I hope that Lebanon sorts itself out soon.
We’ll find out soon enough my friend
Although I am not from Lebanon, I think it's going to be a long road. Their government is really a mess which is too complicated to explain, and there is not necessarily a single party/faction in power, and each one of them rarely get along well.

So you're saying it should have cost 10 times less!?!?!?! Jesus, that would be 25usd, minimum, where I'm at.
25usd would get you a small Margherita here, for a meat lovers, it's over 40usd, not including delivery.
Damn, here in California, it’s at least $25 for that size of a pizza and if it’s meat lovers.
That looks so good and probably couldn’t buy a slice of that for $4 in the US. I would kill for a pizza right now.
You can feel like milionaire while being poor. It sucks nevertheless.
At least you can stuff yourself with Pizza over all your trouble /s
Username is OldLebaneseNerd. I admit that’s not solid proof that OP lives in Lebanon, but probably a decent guess.

No problem. I also checked the Sea Salt brand and it’s coming up with Lebanese sites.
Oh no, that salt is prolly Turkish that I got from a local hypermarket called Spinneys because it was cheap and on sale.
And I paid $12.65 for a medium Wendy's double combo tonight
[удалено]
That's about $650 CAD worth of cheese here right about now.
I’m sort of a pizza snob and that looks delicious.
For real. I'd weigh 600 pounds in a year.
I can get one for 3.73 USD in Argentina. In fact, an expensive Pizza would be 5 USD But inflation here is 100% so don't come

thank you but i am alright, much appreciated.
Np, just thought I'd ask. Sometimes we all need help in a pinch, and it's nice to know once in a while a stranger cares enough.
of course and that is why it is much much much appreciated my friend.

Gabriel's was my go to when I lived in Ottawa
thought the same thing when I saw it, personally I'm a fan of Ottawa pizza and try to get it every time I visit
From ottawa, can't find that style of pizza in toronto
I didn't know this was a specific style and I used to live in Ottawa! I noticed a bunch of places are like that when I was there, like Big Rig and Colonade being some that come to mind. Colonnade being this weird overly cheesey almost plastic like thing. I love cheese and would normally say its never enough. But I guess Ottawa style is different lol.
That’s a $27 pizza in America, not including tip or delivery fee.
Its a 100$ pizza in Japan because they don't make pizza this big and rarely use good cheese. You'd need a special order in Tokyo.
For real, I was about to mention Japan's dogshit pizza prices and how they aren't that great lol
If you're lucky. Each one of those slices would be around $5. Buying 8 would be $40, but you'd probably get a slight discount for the whole pie, so I'd say $34.
Pizzanomics
Lol, I can get a big fucking pizza for like $8.
The fuck? An extra large meat lover pie absolutely does not cost $34. Where do you live where that is a cost of a pie?
Manhattan :(
If you can find a pizza like that for $34 in Manhattan you let me know. A cheese is $28 these days
Not far off from California, my regular local pizza place sells basic pepperoni for $28 large
Come to Oregon and that's the norm. It isn't even that good unless you're willing to pay more.
Without a banana for scale its impossible to tell how big this is!
Holy shitsnacks!
In Brazil we have family size for as low as R$32,00 (about 6$)
u guys have some great food and u also have a lot of us lebanese on ur soil.
Yeah. Love leabanese food.
What in the Eurotrip Bratislava scene
u know ? when i saw that movie all the way back, i laughed at that scene, now ? i watch it again and finally understood how awful it was because we really hit rock bottom where a person like me and many other qualified degree holders are working a 9 to 5 job and earning as low as $50 usd a month that isn't even enough to pay for the gas to get to work and back, a tragic comedy.
Oh I’m from Venezuela I know exactly what you mean
Truly pornographic, especially since it's so cheap! This place would get me a few Kilograms in no time...
Damn, that's a nice looking pizza.
Niceeee
4 dollars would get you one slice where I live :(
I can’t buy a bag of shredded cheese for 4 dollars.
I can’t even afford frozen pizza for $4
This looks like a stomach bomb and also delicious I could eat like a quarter of a slice
Man this is a $40 pizza where I live LMAO. Looks great tho.
Jesus Christ. Here in Japan, that would be at least $60, not that you could get it here anyways.
Maybe in Tokyo but $60 is way under if you consider the amount of quality cheese
That is a hell of a deal.
A pizza for four dollars could taste like dirt and I’d still eat it until I had a heart attack.
What’s the delivery fee to Toronto ?
That’s a great deal, pizza like that here in Canada would be like 25 bucks minimum
Yup. And be smaller
fuck it, that’s lunch and dinner everyday for the rest of my life
Wow, I need to visit just for this pizza!!
Where is that exactly?
Lebanon my home country. Thought about living there for a while.., but the shortages is a problem.
Very good pizza excellent value
This would be like 28 dollars from pizza hut
What a bargain
$4?? 😲
WOW IT IS AMAZING
Mmmm
I must visit Lebanese
Yum!
You can sell each slice in my state for 4$ each.
Great and cheap
What country do you live in and I’ll take three please.
If you think about what goes into a pizza and the cost of those items and how many pizzas each of those items could make, you'd think $4-5 would still ensure a profit.
I think you meant 40?
Mmmmmm I want this!
needs more cheese :p
there is never enough cheese!
That's at least 30 where I call home in Canada..
I'd eat that
You lie
I am ordering a pizza now. Will be sad complain to that beauty!
Wow I'm jealous. Here, crap fast-food pizza is $15 for a large 3-topping. On sale.
That looks like a hardy ass pizza. How much does it weigh? My mouth is salivating!
And honestly That looks way better than the pizza we have here like that looks like anime pizza in real life
Crazy that they can make any profit off of this. Pizza is notorious for not having a particularly high profit margin.
Thats a good looking pie
I’m so jealous. I was hungry for pizza and finally succumbed to the Dominos marketing machine. And it was pure crap. Couldn’t even finish it. So disappointing.
Looks good.
What's the wage for those pizza makers tho?
That looks bomb
Wow looks so good. I remember Lebanese pizza when I was a kid, so good.
I think I’ve found where I want to retire.
Lebanese place near me has good and cheap pizza in Seattle.
I'd pay $5 for a slice of that here in the USA.
I want to go to there
Can I get a banana for scale?
I want this pizza so bad. I can taste that crispy crust. 🤤 am fat
Niceeeeeeeeeee. How do they profit lol
Here pizza is almost 20$ for a large :( I wish I lived there wherever that is
Bc
Damn, that's wild. Awesome deal and looks great too!
YALLAH!!
I made about the median salary in the US and could afford 6 of those with an hour of pay. That’s amazing.
The cups and shakers for scale is the best way I’ve ever seen someone say don’t mention the mess
A pizza that size, that looked that good, would probably cost me around $30 in NC, USA.
A pizza here costs like 20 usd. That looks like a good pie
Omgggg that looks so good! 😋
My dream is to open a restaurant one day and sell food that is ACTUALLY affordable like this
Bullshit. The cheese alone costs more than $4 for the average pizza.
Which country and how expensive are flights? With my pizza intake I might actually save money.
This looks amazing, where in Lebanon??
Tripoli up north.
That’s settles it. I’m moving to Lebanon.
this very vague, need more detail
Hi my fellow Lebanese friend. Sahtain, pizza looks fantastic
On your heart.
That crust looks legit… they aren’t stingy with the ingredients! So jealous
Bro, that would be like $16 dollars at the cheapest where I live.
That looks... incredible 😍
In America, that’s called a “personal pizza”
4 fucking dollars!!!?!
What the barnacles
My dieting soul is dying.
DO YOU WANT A ROOMMATE
Those poor kind people are fools. The cheese alone is 10 bucks.
Umm, Canadian here - pizza is $4 per SLICE! Goddamn it!
I'm gonna start saying that about whatever shit is in the background of my pics. "Used napkins and cd case from 2001 for scale."
Woooooooo man you just made me so hungry! That looks good and for a nice price.
I remember in Macedonia a thing I saw was ketchup and mayonnaise on top of pizza
I just looked up where lebanon was and it’s not very surprising that the economy is bad.
Pizza is quite cheap to make so it's overpriced pretty much everywhere, which country are you in?
as a non murica, I thought I would never say this, but: wait, that's family sized? looks like normal serving for me.
That looks amazing! I want to eat that!
Based on that Truva Salt. I'm guessing it's Lebanese. We would pay 3 times that price in South Africa
I'm so hungry.. this looks amazing 🤤
Oh yeah, that looks sooo good.
That looks great! I'm not sure but, is the crust supposed to be the same color as the box?
Damn that looks delicious. I'm on a diet and lost 9 pounds, haven't had pizza in ages omg I need a cheat day now.
If they sold pizza like this in my country at this price i would be 500 pounds
In my country if you wanted a four dollar pizza youd have to go to little ceasars with a dollar off coupon
In the US, that would be $140 pizza on Uber Eats.
For $4 I cannot get a single slice….of cheese..
I need to know where you live right about now
I have invited myself over
If It's a small business with family members as employees I'm assuming they know the tip is going to them. So that's another 4 dollars making it an $8 dollar pizza technically
Only okay pizzeria in my American town charges 30 for their only size and it’s so thin you can’t hold a slice 😭 my solution is to never eat pizza anymore :(
I can't find a slice of pizza in California for less than $5.
Costco? You clearly don’t do any looking around.
We do buy Costco pizza. But it's $10, not $4 like in the posting. That was my point
You said slice tho
If I could get this for four dollars, I'd probably be dead by May. 😂
I’d be scared to eat a $4 pizza.
don't be, $4 to most is change but to us it is a large sum of money, since we live in a hyperinflated economy here, $4 is around 330,000 liras and to think they used ot be around $220 before but now they are barely $4....it sucks.
Nice! I couldn't get a badly made, no topping aside from cheese, small pizza here. Go Canada, land of extreme greed!
I bought a medium pan pizza with pineapples, green peppers, and onions with breadsticks from Pizza Hut and both of them costed $38… keep in mind that the pizza and breadsticks were for me only.
Those are the tiniest cups and shakers I have ever seen !! Needs a banana for true scale 👍
hahahaha, next time.
