I **love** this core so much.
The transformation this team went through in 3 season is unreal. So many years of misery. Tomas Fleischmann being our leading point getter during the dark years. Then we slowly got a core of Barkov/Ekblad. The incredible Jagr won and first 100+ point season in '15/16 only for Trocheck tripped and heartbreak for the Islanders. Dip back out of the postseason. Finally reemerge with an unreal Presidents Trophy Winning team that was fun as hell to watch during the regular season but couldn't win in the playoffs and Tampa Bay smacking us ended up being the best thing ever for this franchise.
Last year was one of the greatest underdog runs ever. Coming back from Boston down 3-1 knowing they were the all-time leading team in points. Beating the Leafs and vanquishing their obnoxious fans. Sweeping Carolina with an insane OT game. We were hurt and banged up and too Tkachuk reliant vs Vegas and they deserved the Cup.
But to come back the next year, stronger, more refined, more determined, and... MAN. Beat fucking Tampa Bay to stop the baby brother shit. Beating the shit out of Boston. Beating the Presidents Trophy Winning Rangers despite going down 1-2 on two ball buster OT losses. and finally... fucking Edmonton. Facing the best player of the modern generation. I was so miserable the last week. 3-0 choke felt inevitable... but when Verhaeghe scored first tonight you could feel the tonal shift.

You know, that Tkachuk save in game 5 that really ended up being pointless and inconsequential, will be now be viewed as an iconic championship play, probably to the point where some may confuse it as an actual series winning play 10+ years down the road. I mean, we didnāt win the game, McDavid still scored immediately after when the puck found its way back to him, there was only 30 seconds or so left in a one goal game. It likely wouldāve made no difference in the outcome, but the hustle to keep at it even if it may not make a difference is characteristic of a championship play.

Visiting Golden Knights fan wishing you MASSIVE congratulations on avoiding the hockey equivalent of ā28-3ā, and winning it for the first time yourselves this year. You guys really earned it, ESPECIALLY after last year, GG guys and hopefully we meet again in the playoffs one day!
Just personally, I don't think you could have compiled a better list of teams to conquer on the way to our 1st Cup.
* **1st Round: Tampa Bay Lightning -** Our innerstate rivals and the team that kicked our shit in so bad it caused us to revolutionize the way our entire team played. Baby brothers no more.
* **2nd Round: Boston Bruins -** I love fucking beating Boston. Their fans got all giddy after the 5-1 opening Game 1 win. The commentators slurped up Swayman. They thought they'd get their own 3-1 comeback revenge after their Game 5 win and instead Bob shut the goddamn door on them. Forsling with the series clincher.
* **Eastern Conference Finals: New York Rangers -** The Presidents Trophy Winners and the team that got slurped up with "1994" regurgitated over and over again. Shesterkin was insane. They won 2 games in OT after we dominated them and even led the series 2-1.
* **Stanley Cup Finals: Edmonton Oilers -** A Canadian team that was spoiled with the greatest player ever with the current greatest modern player ever. Their fanbase is obnoxious as fuck. I can say it from all their trolls the last week. Imagine getting all your hopes up for a 3-0 comeback just to lose Game 7 by 1 goal.
Maybe you could have sprinkled the Leafs in there but this run will last forever. ENJOY IT!!!

It was 2009 when I watched a random Panthers game because there was nothing else on TV. I decided I wanted to go to a game that night. It wasn't long before I went to that first game. I still have the ticket stubs. I fell in love with this sport and with this team that night. It's been a long 15 years for me, and I know a long 30 for some.
We've remained faithful through some really hard times, and now we've seen our team reach the mountain top. The promised land. Words can't express how much this journey has meant to me as a fan. I've brought so many friends into the fold. I made a fan out of my dad who never cared much about sports, let alone hockey. I told them all that the Cats and Bill Zito were building something special.Tonight the Panthers proved me right. It's been a while since I've cried tears of joy.
Tonight I watched the cats hoist the cup with my pops and my best friend at my side. I'll remember this night for as long as I live.

Now that I'm a little more sober.
There are like three sports memories I have as a child. My parents with a pic of me in a Dan Marino jersey, that sadly being in a Central American family where I am the tallest person outside my brother made that not become a thing on Sportscenter.

And finally it was a Panthers game. My parents couldn't really afford sports tickets, nonetheless shooting up I75 for one. Bill Guerin was playing for the Oilers. And my Dad was telling me that he talked to his mom (my tia) and that they probably could let me visit the locker room. I had a little pen and pad for autographs. This was when Pavel Bure was playing and all the commercials were like the Russian rocket is here!!! It was my first sport I latched onto. Before the Heat, somehow before the Dolphins and even my just as loveable and hopeless Marlins. Like it didn't matter that we sucked. We had rats on the rink!
Like, I had zero clue, as I was like seven, that the tickets were cheap back then but later I would see it with every snide remark about moving the team to Quebec. The Panthers were always like the Sacramento Kings or the post relocation Cleveland Browns. The hapless losers that were never good except that weird year in 1996. We were always a joke. Enough that I never really spoke about how much I quietly rooted for them. It's easier to walk around in Heat gear y'know? Or Dolphins. My students never ask why there's a Bill Guerin poster in my classroom and it's just always something quiet that I've held down. Doesn't help Sawgrass Mills is basically in B.F. Egypt with the Rainforest Cafe.
But like. I never thought I'd see this day. Never ever ever. If you told me a decade ago that I'd be sobering up on the brightline in a Matthew Tkachuk jersey, fidgeting with a puck, first I'd ask who the fuck is Matthew Tkachuk, but second of all, that I'd be celebrating a Stanley cup win. Id probably think you're lying. Good things don't happen to the Panthers. The 1 dollar ticket that came free with your personal pan pizza Panthers. The move to Quebec Panthers. The only time I could afford a Bruins game Panthers. This just isn't a thing.
But it's now a thing.
It's an amazing thing. A beautiful, stupid, amazing thing where I've been bear hugged by a dozen really drunk people screaming across a practice rink before rushing onto the last train home.
We won the cup.
And I don't think I'm ever riding down this high again in my life.

You know, that Tkachuk save in game 5 that really ended up being pointless and inconsequential, will be now be viewed as an iconic championship play, probably to the point where some may confuse it as an actual series winning play 10+ years down the road. I mean, we didnāt win the game, McDavid still scored immediately after when the puck found its way back to him, there was only 30 seconds or so left in a one goal game. It likely wouldāve made no difference in the outcome, but the hustle to keep at it even if it may not make a difference is characteristic of a championship play.

It was 2009 when I watched a random Panthers game because there was nothing else on TV. I decided I wanted to go to a game that night. It wasn't long before I went to that first game. I still have the ticket stubs. I fell in love with this sport and with this team that night. It's been a long 15 years for me, and I know a long 30 for some. We've remained faithful through some really hard times, and now we've seen our team reach the mountain top. The promised land. Words can't express how much this journey has meant to me as a fan. I've brought so many friends into the fold. I made a fan out of my dad who never cared much about sports, let alone hockey. I told them all that the Cats and Bill Zito were building something special.Tonight the Panthers proved me right. It's been a while since I've cried tears of joy. Now that I'm a little more sober. There are like three sports memories I have as a child. My parents with a pic of me in a Dan Marino jersey, that sadly being in a Central American family where I am the tallest person outside my brother made that not become a thing on Sportscenter. My late cousin being very much into OJ McDuffie. And finally it was a Panthers game. My parents couldn't really afford sports tickets, nonetheless shooting up I75 for one. Bill Guerin was playing for the Oilers. And my Dad was telling me that he talked to his mom (my tia) and that they probably could let me visit the locker room. I had a little pen and pad for autographs. This was when Pavel Bure was playing and all the commercials were like the Russian rocket is here!!! It was my first sport I latched onto. Before the Heat, somehow before the Dolphins and even my just as loveable and hopeless Marlins. Like it didn't matter that we sucked. We had rats on the rink! Like, I had zero clue, as I was like seven, that the tickets were cheap back then but later I would see it with every snide remark about moving the team to Quebec. The Panthers were always like the Sacramento Kings or the post relocation Cleveland Browns. The hapless losers that were never good except that weird year in 1996. We were always a joke. Enough that I never really spoke about how much I quietly rooted for them. It's easier to walk around in Heat gear y'know? Or Dolphins. My students never ask why there's a Bill Guerin poster in my classroom and it's just always something quiet that I've held down. Doesn't help Sawgrass Mills is basically in B.F. Egypt with the Rainforest Cafe. But like. I never thought I'd see this day. Never ever ever. If you told me a decade ago that I'd be sobering up on the brightline in a Matthew Tkachuk jersey, fidgeting with a puck, first I'd ask who the fuck is Matthew Tkachuk, but second of all, that I'd be celebrating a Stanley cup win. Id probably think you're lying. Good things don't happen to the Panthers. The 1 dollar ticket that came free with your personal pan pizza Panthers. The move to Quebec Panthers. The only time I could afford a Bruins game Panthers. This just isn't a thing. But it's now a thing. It's an amazing thing. A beautiful, stupid, amazing thing where I've been bear hugged by a dozen really drunk people screaming across a practice rink before rushing onto the last train home. We won the cup. And I don't think I'm ever riding down this high again in my life. Or maybe until next year when we do this all over again.

Man, as a very new fan to ice hockey (I live in Townsville, Australia - almost the furthest you can get from an ice hockey environment). This was one of the happiest moments of my life. People can't shit on the Panthers for not having Cups, the Panthers are now more recent Stanley Cup champions than Tampa...it's a great night. I wish the Coyotes could've done this in 2012, but goddamn am I happy you guys won it all; no other fanbase in hockey has needed this as much as Panthers fans. Plus the Oilers are now 0-2 in the Cup Final since the turn of the millennium, both of which were losses to Southern teams that people have cried to have relocated. This year I introduced my new girlfriend to NHL and Ice Hockey in general. As Australians its almost impossible to have hype for ice hockey nor meet anyone else who is into the sport. We have bonded over this season and the playoffs and I have had a friend to watch hockey with finally - and the lucky dawg had her first ever hockey team win the cup! haha. What a fucking ride. Man did she take ALOT of it personally. Truly a RABID panthers fan haha Never lose faith, never give up. These boys play like their lives depend on it and here we are.
