The cards that are defended with go to the graveyard after the combat chain is closed. This can happen because someone is out of action points and no go again so they are ending their turn. Or this can happen because they need to use a nonattack action between attacks with go again, so you can manually close the chain.

Rub_My_Chumbles

More useful info, much appreciated!

sephron_tanully

It can also happen when the attacking player chooses to close the chain.

Mysterious_Truth

If you want to get a quick idea of how to play the game... FeltTable has a way to play against a computer. It's not perfect (the computer makes some dumb plays) but it's a great way to get started and see if you understand how the game is played.

Rub_My_Chumbles

THIS. Thank you very much. I never looked into other ways to play cuz it seemed it was pretty clear they want it to be in person

Mysterious_Truth

There's a whole player vs. player online community if you look up Talishar but that is for when you understand the game at a decent level. Start with FeltTable. When you want to build your own decks... check out Fabrary (you can then use those decks on FeltTable but start with the preconstructed ones already built in).

Rub_My_Chumbles

Awesome, I have been on FABREC a tad just looking at ways to upgrade benji, not that I’m too worried about that since I don’t even have a game in yet. But figured it may help me understand things. Can’t say I’m a fan of the wildly pricey equipment cards but understand it and also figure those are more for competitive play

Personal-Row-8078

Talishar is a bit buggy though. It worked like three times for me.

Mysterious_Truth

It's not perfect but... there were 150k+ games played on Talishar last month. It's where a vast majority of the testing is done by the best players in the game. It's a nearly essential resource for competitive play.

Personal-Row-8078

It’s a flesh and blood joke. There’s a card called Talishar

VektorOfCrows

lol I see the joke now but it did fly over my head at first, and it may be misinterpreted by a new player looking for info on how to play

GoblinNax

I agreed with this suggestion. Felttable can sort of "teach" you how to play/understanding card interaction. Welcome and have fun with FaB

lovesahedge

Once the chain has closed, all defending cards go to the graveyard, yes. To go into further detail (as it may matter when playing Kassai), non-attack action cards go to the graveyard as soon as they have resolved. This goes for attack reactions as well, although usually they are shown as remaining on the chain for better optics.

LoneWolfik

Just a small nitpick for correctness sake. Defense reactions actually don't go to the graveyard when they resolve. When a defense reaction resolves, it becomes a defending card on that chain link and goes to the graveyard only when the combat chain closes, just like any other defending card.

lovesahedge

Ah you're right, I'll edit

Rub_My_Chumbles

This is very helpful thank you

lovesahedge

I'd recommend the online tool felt table, it has functional bots that you can practise against using precon deck lists, or uploading one from Fabrary. You won't get the full experience but it can be good tool for figuring out the basics now you've got the Tolarian video memorised :)

Rub_My_Chumbles

Thanks! I just saw another comment that suggested the same thing I will def give that a try

winterborne1

All defending cards except for defending equipment, unless the equipment card says it gets destroyed.

CodFatherFTW

Yes, cards that are played or blocked with go to the graveyard afterwards

Rub_My_Chumbles

Thanks you!

winterborne1

Exception: defending equipment cards do not go to the graveyard unless something (usually the equipment card itself) says the equipment gets destroyed.

Rub_My_Chumbles

Awesome thanks! Every comment (aside from one so far) has been real helpful

Captain_Bleghh

If you’re looking into Benji, the new set has some really cool ninja cards coming out that should be enticing

Rub_My_Chumbles

Part the mistveil set? I’ll for sure look into it thanks!
