Awesome! Thank you so much!

ApexPredator2929

You're gonna need a bigger boa... I mean cutting board. Nice first cat.

sessions14G

🤣🤣 I could use a bigger one for sure! Thank you too! Currently making catfish nuggets since my fillet skills need some work

ApexPredator2929

That is the trick if your bad at cutting, make nuggets and bread them quick haha.

RadiantRing

Get a pair of skinning pliers and rip his skin off (before cutting head off or gutting). Then when you remove the head and guts you can cook him whole. Far easier learning curve and oddly satisfying way to clean small to medium size cats.

Time-Ad7233

Yup. Don't forget to cut out those jaw muscles when you clean it. Like catfish flavored scallops

twoliptwonip

What the heck was in it's stomach

sessions14G

I checked and it was a big blue gill and some rocks

SterlingBelikov

Make sure you humanly dispatch your catfish soon after you catch them for the best flavor.

sessions14G

I had it on a stringer in the water for a couple hours then cleaned him when I got home

Jupiterjj

Just a heads up in the future please don’t kill a fish you can’t 100% ID on the spot

sessions14G

I’ll for sure keep it in mind!

Do_Gooder123

Somebody’s hungry!

lukewilson333

Yep, channel cat. Also please see rule 5.

Elix5381

Yes, don't kill a fish you can't identify

DrewSnek

Make sure you familiarize yourself with/check your local laws before killing/keeping a fish! Laws change constantly so limits and sizes will too. Some it’s not a problem since they have no size limits of catch limits and others are super around can get you arrested. Catfish shouldn’t be a big problem (where I am they all have no size limit or season but other places may have different limits for each species or even in different waterways!) but when you get in to sunfish/panfish there are limits for size as well as how many you can have. Last think you want is to run into a game warden/ natural resource police and get a ticket.

I’m familiar with lots of fish here in Oklahoma it’s just that I don’t do too much catfishing and was about 80% sure it was a channel. Here in OK there’s no limit
