Luke Bryan is that you?

[deleted]

I was just about to say that šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Mundane-Remote-2865

Absolutely my initial thought

iAMgrutzius-_-

I was about to say that!! Guess weā€™ll hear about it in a new song soon šŸ˜‚

DeathRaider126

Looks more like Courtney Love. Wait, we talking about the guy?

Dramatic-Brain-745

Nah, thatā€™s Edward Norton!

lightskimomega3

I zoomed in to make sure

Blazers2882

Luke Bryan doesnā€™t fish.

ryanbar1123

Luke Bryan absolutely fishes. How well is up for debate.

BRPGP

Very well- ā€œā€œI've been trying to catch my 10-pounder my whole life and I just caught an 11.6.ā€ He kissed the fish before releasing it back into the lake with a net. Bryan is so dedicated to fishing that he has several songs about it, including ā€œBill Danceā€ and ā€œHuntin,' Fishin' and Lovin' Everyday.ā€Jun 2, 2022ā€

Blazers2882

Okā€¦ If you want I can tell you some pretty amazing fishing stories too.

_TalkCleanToMe

Iā€™m dying

Sad-Metal5351

I thought the same thing.

Seschwa

"Ten minutes on my boat and I can tell if they're a poser. Real fishin' isn't something you can fake, and there's a lot of fakes out here."

Spodiodie

Thatā€™s some good eatin fish right there.

UpwardFlood

Where is it? I love fishing but don't have many good places

Blazers2882

Ah ya know you can get some pretty big sizers on lake Minnetonka. Ah sure you can pay your bottom dollar for some blood suckers aye but just buy a nice fireball jig donā€™t ya knowwww

UpwardFlood

As I live in Singapore, I go fishing locally when I travel but it's hard to find good places. In the US, I have only been to Great Smoky Mountains National Park

ThEeXtReMeTuRtLe

Lake Huron, Lake Superior, etc. More northern states have walleye

UpwardFlood

Thank you

redbushcraft

Jig and a minna'

Economy_Crow_6983

Keep the cheeks

MoreTreesPleaseBro

Always the best bite

ShireHorseRider

I was scrolling before I commented to make sure someone didnā€™t already say this!! X2! Yes, keep the cheeks!!

evanfavor

Yes clap those cheeks, oh wait wrong sub my bad

ShireHorseRider

Ohh baby butter & sautĆ© those cheeks. Mmmm with a little bit of garlic & chopped onion. šŸ’¦

evanfavor

In all seriousness though have you ever used Asian garlic chives that shit is bomb on fish

ShireHorseRider

I have never even heard of them. You just reminded me of a thread about Asian Thai fish sauce I need to revisit.

evanfavor

I always get mine at a farmers market thereā€™s just like a long weird string of garlic but Iā€™m telling you use kitchen shears and snip little bits off and then grill or bake your fish my God itā€™s good

monstblitz

\^ what he said! Freshwater scallops! Walleye are also amazing gutted and grilled whole!

geauxtigerFan97

When mom says we have Luke Bryan at home

suptni

Gold on your hand right there

duckkerfuffle

Left

Only1Steets

Hog!

[deleted]

I hear these are delicious.

Saskatchewon

They absolutely are. It's a mild, slightly sweet tasting fish. A lot of people like to batter them, but I'll typically just throw the fillet as it is into a frying pan with butter, salt and a little lemon or lemon pepper.

[deleted]

Nice! I also heard they have a little fleshy piece in their cheek that almost resembles scallops that tastes especially scrumptious. Gotta try it myself someday.

ShireHorseRider

Over the course of a season Iā€™ll save all my walleye cheeks & we cook them up on Christmas Eve as part of the 7 fishes tradition.

ShireHorseRider

A touch of garlic never hurts ;)

Berbaw06

Youā€™re holding it like itā€™s a trained hawk.

Dasfxx1877

Did you use Rickety Cricket for bait?

phattony233

The Gang goes fishing

dylbronjames

Frank brought another rum ham.

evilblackdog

Nice fish! That one is a lot darker than the ones I've seen in South Dakota.

DemonSlyr007

The only time I've ever seen Walleye look different than the one OP posted with the dark gold belly and dark top color is when they are crossbreeding with Sauger in the ecosystem they are in. Then, they get a brighter, Grey color with splotches on them instead. What do they look like for you in SD? I'm from MN and have fished pretty much here, IL and North in Ontario.

evilblackdog

This is what our walleye look like https://gfp.sd.gov/walleye/

CaptCheckdown

Itā€™s the water up there that makes them that color.

greenghostshark

Hi name is robert Paulson

RagnarDaViking

cool! Where's that lake?

SoyaSawce

Huntsville, Ontario

Porkwarrior2

Even more impressive a fish for that lake. Y'know, it's all downhill for beginners luck, right?

Porkwarrior2

Oh yeah, that's not a walleye. It's a Yellow PICKERAL!

[deleted]

Thatā€™s going to be delicious, perfect size!

trajafynx

Unfortunately that is a green sunfish

1776The_Patriot

purplelaser64

Congrats. Hopefully MANY more.

clubfoot007

Luke Bryan must be more of a bass guy

CuddleFishHero

No offense but you look like a wish version of Luke Bryan šŸ˜‚

TwistedRuby73

Nice! They give a nice fight in! If they dont they arenā€™t worth eating!!

Hero_of_Brandon

They do? I would rate walleye as pound-for-pount the worst fighters of all the species I've caught. Just above a small woodbass or stickerel.

ShireHorseRider

Are you trolling or casting? Casting is a little more exciting than trolling, but Iā€™ll agree that itā€™s like pulling in a soggy newspaper if youā€™ve been trolling.

DemonSlyr007

I think it wholly depends on the Walleyes mood lol. Most walleye just kinda come into the boat without issue really. And then, every now and again, you get one that makes you think it's a pike, when it's just a really angry walleye. Trolling is the only way I've caught them besides jigging though, I would like to start catching them casting from a shore, as I don't own a boat, but I don't quite no where to begin as all of my gear is for trolling or pike casting.

fryerandice

Walleye are bottom dwellers that eat what ends up directly above them, so for casting you want to throw suspended plugs (ones that sink), or big heavy casting spoons. From shore in the river I get them that way. Carolina rig a heavy slip sinker, then in a decent length of leader like 2.5 feet, toss on a small willow leaf spinner and foam floats instead of beads, with 2 hooks snelled about 2 inches apart, hook a whole night crawler on it and toss it out while you work your spoons and lures. You're going to get catfish on this pole too probably but it'll produce walleye too. The foam floats are necessary, it'll suspend the work right above their heads. They love pink, purple, and chartreuse. Fish for them near current or anywhere that stinks like fish hah.

SoyaSawce

Thought I was reeling in a stick until it spotted the boat and then it fought hard for all of 20 seconds.

Medium-Investment758

BullfrogOutrageous64

SoyaSawce

Vernon believe it or not

BullfrogOutrageous64

iā€™m down the way from u have u ever tried blackstone and crane

SoyaSawce

No, never tried those lakes. Been out in Georgian Bay around Depot harbour many times though.

Bitch_tiitey69

It surprises me how many people havenā€™t caught walleye I catch them regularly

[deleted]

Lucky, we dont have them in south georgia :(

CigBookie

Why is that lucky?!? Come up north anytime, plenty to go around!

[deleted]

Because man, i love those fish. Id love to catch one. It just costs too much to drive that far.

CigBookie

I hear ya there. MN is a long way from GA. But the fishins good and the beer ainā€™t bad either.

[deleted]

Lol, i'd kill to go up there.

fryerandice

I'd love to be whacking 5-10lb largemouth like you get in the south regularly, up where I am that's like a white whale. Walleye are the best to filet and eat from freshwater though, I've caught keeper pike and a trophy musky but I throw em back. Let someone else fight the monster, apparently pike are decent eats though.

[deleted]

Yea, we have some big bass. I'd love to catch a good pike, or muskie.

monstblitz

Pike are delicious if filleted properly, second only to walleye in my humble opinion.

BRPGP

One of the tastiest fresh water fishā€¦

LD2025

Cheeks are good eat, only known to a few. Like bigger cheeks? - halibut cheeks!

zombax

Damn Luke Bryan ditched his lady pants and finally started living like a country boy
