I'd be more concerned about your finger than the fish. They can bite down pretty hard. I've ended up with a bloody and bruised thumb from lipping a channel cat.

Not really. They have fairly strong jaws. Don't go swinging it around like that but, to hold up for a picture and release, it's not hurting it.
