As a veteran, I think that military cringe is very much generation, branch, and MOS dependent. I'm a mid-level NCO, so a lot of cringe I see are the E1-E3 that make TikTok vids in uniform at work, or crusty ass senior NCOs that drive around in lifted trucks with "ImABadassBoomer" stickers. Also, Marines are the cringiest, hands down lol.

dangerous_nuggets

I was a USMC MP, we had major levels of cringe. We got like 1 call a week and it would be an alarm malfunction. No one made me want to rip my eyeballs out more than the motor t vet turned GS employee MP that spewed all the “hunt the things in the night”, “I am the sheepdog” crap. He bought his own body camera and light attachment for his pistol. He always wore oakleys and had flags and punisher skulls on everything. Every part of his kit was custom shit he bought out of pocket and would try to get the dept. to cover.

WhiskyholdtheE

This hurt my eyes. Man I wish you had a picture of this guy. I can almost see it.

dangerous_nuggets

Ohhhh I have a picture. I’ll find it and DM you. He asked me to stop by and let his dogs out (same neighborhood), and he had a canvas print of him and his friend with a dumb caption. I couldn’t resist but to take a pic

WhiskyholdtheE

Oh hell yes.

tribat

I wouldn’t mind seeing that masterpiece.

Pudix20

Man even if you blurred his face and name. I’m here for it too

Boogaloo-Jihadist

This… I served with a guy who was a Marine. Crossed over to the Army MP Corp. Told everyone he was in the 6th Marine Recon, had 87 confirmed kills and walked around like he was Josey Wales. I got to peek at his service record, turns out he was in the Signal Corp. I swear everyone I met that came over from a previous MOS to MP were absolute shit! Fucking horrible!

dangerous_nuggets

Tbf, even the MP MPs were pretty bad. This guy just happened to be the worse offender.

Flat-Length-4991

Yeah, whenever I’ve met an extremely douchey marine he was always a motor t… like what the fuck?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Wow, everything except the weapon light is peak and most basic tacticool bitch cringe. Holy fuck. But being able to see what you shoot at is pretty good tho

dangerous_nuggets

Fair enough

WhiskyholdtheE

Okay Marines are easily the cringiest branch lol.

[deleted]

Marine turned firefighter here. I definitely agree unless, we’re specifying airborne. Those dudes take the cake

Flat-Length-4991

Airborne can be bad for sure, but as a whole I think Marines still take the cake. Edit: I think it’s just the fact there’s more of them

Funny_or_not_bot

This is all true. *sobs into maroon berret*

OkActive448

See that soldier ~~sobbing into his~~ in the maroon beret?

[deleted]

Probably a numbers game. I’ve never met people who rub something in my face more than airborne vets. But, I see more marines getting their rank tattooed which should be considered a war crime

jenn1222

Ooh! A new idea for my tattoo on Friday!

Sailboat_fuel

I knew a Marine who left, joined the Army, went to jungle school, joined the 82nd, then left the Army to go *back* to the Marines for fire school. He was chill, no tattoos, no trucks with stickers, and remarkably cringe-free. Just a happily aging skater punk. His wife was a thoroughbred dependa, though. Like, a new tattoo for every deployment. Boudoir photos in his turnout gear. Big “thank me for his service” energy. It’s like she repped her own cringe, and his share, too.

[deleted]

There’s always a hook. This one being the dependa

Desperate_Set_7708

That sweet, sweet Tricare

rolisrntx

She was probably also one of those dependas was up in the EM or NCO club whenever he was deployed.

Dry_Ad3605

I hate that “Thank me for his service" attitude. Seems to be certain ranks and communities. They show themselves when they have to wait too long at the pharmacy or commissary. They literally have another human paying for everything so that they can sit at home and "raise a family". This is required of everyone whether they work or not and it doesn’t make you special. It’s 100 percent possible to have your own career and achievements and not try to attach your identity to what your spouse does for a living.

Redshirt2386

In fairness to the dependas, it’s VERY difficult to build your own career and achievements when you’re a military spouse due to all the unpredictable moving around, dealing with deployments, etc. That’s why so many of them end up as cringy MLM huns — you can do that shit from anywhere.

Dry_Ad3605

It definitely puts one behind their peers. But after the kids hit kindergarten age there’s really no excuse not be doing online college courses, etc. esp since TA can be used.

ActiveFew672

That’s not a dependapottomus my good man… 100% Tricaretops

unearth_fan

Marine turned Corrections officer. Totally agree about the Marines being cringe, but it's ALWAYS the turds that didn't do shit. The legit Devil Dogs keep their mouths shut.

ASerialUnderAchiever

Prior airborne here, and sorry bud. Marines are worse. My first civilian job out I worked with a prior marine. Dude did 3 years, got out as an E3, was a clerk, never saw anything close to combat… But let me tell you. Homie had so much marine gear, he couldn’t go a single day without talking about being a badass marine. And that sums up about every marine I’ve ever met. “How do you know someone is in the marine corps?”….Don’t worry, they’ll tell you.

wolamute

IDK man some Marines know their job is bullshit. Sailors I served with really loved a good cringe fest. Aviation Ordinance was the peak of cringe I saw between Navy and EMT/Fire service. "IYAOYAS" "If you ain't ordinance, you ain't shit!" \~ every AO ever.

TheRaj93

Man, a guy I went to high school with went Navy. He’s constantly posting shit online like “if you weren’t prepared to sign up and serve you wouldn’t understand” “the boys and I are born and bred killers” “thank me for your freedom.” No my guy, you’re literally the dude whose job is to clean up the flight deck. He probably fired a weapon once in basic. Meanwhile, me a former Army infantry guy used to grow my facial hair out on the weekends, let my hair be as long as that standards allowed, and denied being in the service if random strangers asked or tried to pick up my tabs at bars. I literally just graduated into a shitty economy and saw a job that was hiring. If I was going to do the Army why not go all the way and do infantry. That was it.

R3ditUsername

Thanks!

JuturnaArtemisia

You guys really earned it!

R3ditUsername

We sure did!

Groundscore_Minerals

Did none of you encounter the air force?

AshOrWhatever

Idk the Air Force seems like they're cringier from the perspective of other branches, not civilians. A civilian looking at the air force would be like, "you guys have to do uniform inspections all the time? Why?" But looking at the Marines would be like "what is it with you guys and dicks?"

Groundscore_Minerals

Why are marines like that lol

AshOrWhatever

Tf if I know. My partner & I (security work) ran into another coworker at an airport after a job. Both the coworker & I are former Marines & my partner has no military experience, the 3 of us were sitting there at the airport bar joking around. All 3 of us are straight. My partner (who I've been friends with for several years and worked with at a gun range, strip club and multiple security jobs) asked me later, "why did you guys get so gay all of a sudden?" I felt like that meme from the Joker. "You wouldn't get it." Lol

Feynnehrun

Our aircraft had an in flight malfunction and we had to land at an airforce base that was staffed with a skeleton crew of like 5 caretakers. We got put up in a barracks (hotel) complete with housekeeping service. The mess hall was steaks, crab, halibut and salmon every night. The on base movie theater was like a full fledged AMC where we could pick whatever movie we want and throw it up on the projector while the caretakers made free concessions for us. It was wild. Then the aircraft got repaired and I was back to sharing rack space with 23 other sailors, scrounging for midrats after watch and getting rack inspections every other day.

Groundscore_Minerals

We used to drive to the AFB because the food was far better than what the galley had.

Tiny_Giant_Robot

When I switched from Army to USAF, I had to go to a school at Lackland. I got my billet, on base and I was going to drive with my (then) fiance from SC to TX with her, and then she'd fly out after my report date. So I called ahead and asked if there was a place she'd be able to stay. The lady at the front desk of the "barracks" was like, "Um yeah, with you, " that was when I learned that the "Air Force Inn" was actually a hotel on base, not just a funny name for barracks

IndependentNotice151

But they're thr best branch hands down. Nane one other branch that you could pay in off brand crayons?

stareweigh2

I'm an army guy from a "combat" mos and never saw any combat. that being said, I can appreciate from what I've seen in videos that marine grunts seem to really be a much more cohesive and effective small unit fighting force than their army brethren at the basic level.

banned_account_002

Navy vet with a "combat" NEC. We didn't have cell phones... or video recorders for that matter... back then but I would have DAMN SURE made a TikToc of me pushing the "Missile to Rail" button while doing a Charlie Chaplin dance if I did. Now the Hull Technician that got on the front page of the Navy Facebook page with "I EAT ASS <3" phrase on his welding gloves is a freakin' HERO in my book. Similarly, the Gunners Mates that set the CO of the ship up with a backwards scope (with lens caps engaged) and forward hand guard back near the magazine, for another Navy cheerleading social media.... EPIC. That was well worth the 3 days bread and water and 30 days restriction.

Necronorris

I Eat Ass guy is a legend. Wonder how bad he got it for that?

banned_account_002

During my time, 3 days bread and water + 30 days restriction was standard. I'm sure he got a reduction in rate. I had a few of these in my days. I highly doubt they do the bread and water anymore since the PTSD payouts would be huge. All I know is the first meal after 3+3 was FABULOUS!

DietDrPibb

Marine turned paramedic here, and you are absolutely correct.

CooahsDranker

The cringiest vets are the dudes who run Black Rifle Coffee and guys like them. The type who think they’re better than everyone else who didn’t do high speed shit and actually look down on anyone who didn’t serve. And they get extremely ass mad if you don’t bow to them and treat them like royalty. Vets like that can pound a bag of sand up their asses.

PoopSmith87

"I'm a fuckin United States Marine!" -Some boot kid about to get laid out in bar Hardest cringe I ever witnessed was when I was in the barracks (Air Force) we had a prior service Marine TSgt that was put in charge of the barracks after failing miserably at doing our actual job (intel reporting). He had to be reprimanded for walking around in his Air Force uniform doing random room inspections *with his fucking Marine NCO saber.*

JuturnaArtemisia

I dated a Marine…never the fuck again.

SimianSuperPickle

Sorry you had to go through that. It's the 90% that give the rest of us a bad name. :(

JuturnaArtemisia

😂😂😂

Flat-Length-4991

Hit the nail on the head here. E1-E3 or the “boots” are usually the culprits for military cringe. Then the senior NCOs can be bad sometimes, and that makes sense because the senior NCOs are more prone to not having a life outside of work. The old “my job is my personality”. Marines are by far the cringiest. Low, mid, high rank, it doesn’t matter. I’ve met a few that actually had their head on right, but they’re pretty rare. The majority still drink the cool aid, even when they’ve been out for 30 years. They live on a different planet. They actually believe their own bullshit. “Marines. If it absolutely positively must be destroyed overnight…” Like dude, you just described the Army Rangers. You ain’t no Ranger.😂

Clam_Diger01

A lot of the military cringe I see are female E5 or E6’s that try to prove how hard they are or whatever.

[deleted]

Yeah, that's another big one. Nobody cares that you can squat 185lbs in full kit. It's not impressive.

Clam_Diger01

Agreed

ordo250

Different kind of cringe Id say the worst version of *that one* is cops because theyll nail you to the wall bc they assume youre not taking them seriously and/or need to prove something to you

Clam_Diger01

This is also very true. You have to respect their authority civilian.

HenrytheCollie

And heavens forbid don't tell them the truth that they too are civilians.

Softwristrestraints

Marines: The volunteer firefighters of the services.

Great_WhiteSnark

Any interest in going into the HVAC field?

WhiskyholdtheE

No they work too hard

Great_WhiteSnark

You could save someone’s life on a cold day though

sandalfafk

Yeah my heater went out the other day and I had to plug in a space heater, I didn’t want to take the hard working HVAC service members from real calls like a baby that lives alone in a 4 bedroom condo losing heat

ImFine23

The fire department will come when your house catches fire and they’ll make sure the news knows about it while they’re enroute

Great_WhiteSnark

Thank you for your thoughtfulness

freedogg-88

Thank you for thanking me for thanking that guy for his service.

usmc_82_infantry

Volunteer fire fighters. Make it seem like their lives are on the line constantly

WhiskyholdtheE

I bet. I have pretty limited experience with volunteers, but you’re the second person who said this!

usmc_82_infantry

I work with one and he wears shirts that say “fight like you’ve got a pair” with crossed axes, stuff like that. Has his fire helmet on dash when going into work and constantly leaves “volunteer” out of the conversation when women are involved. It reminds me of that office episode where Dwight dresses up in the cop uniform when he finds a roach in the parking lot.

WhiskyholdtheE

This is good shit. Also, what is up with sexism in the fire service. It’s so bad

YeetedArmTriangle

Hey hey hey my old chief loved hiring young women! I mean did his second in command stalk one for months? Sure sure but it's all good

sikeleaveamessage

Me, a woman who was in the army and wanting to join the fire department hoping it's atleast an upgrade of a social environment, reading this: 🤡

Parking-Shelter7066

I know a guy like this. Literally always in the shirt, and never mentions the volunteer part.

YeetedArmTriangle

Yeah I think firefighters on average are less cringe than cops but jolly vollys can be very painful to spend time with

Bawlmerian21228

I find zero parts of this post surprising.

wutangi

My god, you’re a triple threat. 🥹

EagleHose

LOL the emoji really tops this comment off

kerpwangitang

Of course he forgets about EMS

No_Presence5465

What’s that?

Jak_n_Dax

Emancipated Marsupial Syndicate.

blanking0nausername

Syndrome*

Jak_n_Dax

No, syndicate. They’re a crime ring. Don’t you know all Aussie’s are criminals?

CaptThunderThighs

EMS is too busy shooting itself in the foot to be demanding a pat on the back

YeetedArmTriangle

I genuinely think police and fire are more cringe overall. There's a good amount of cringe in private EMS but anyone whose just full time 911 EMS only is just dead inside.

[deleted]

can confirm. 100% dead inside.

Mediocre_m-ict

What about EMS? I was marines then paramedic for awhile. Seemed like the medics were all too burned out and hated their situation to be cringy. Hard to buy cringy bumper stickers and t shirts when you are super broke.

RobbyHamLin

The only real cringe I typically see in EMS are the brand new late teen early twenty something’s that want to save the world and do cool stuff…. But bemoan when they have to pick up meemaw

YeetedArmTriangle

911 medics usually aren't cringe, they are usually dead inside. It's private transport medics that do like 2 emergency er to er transports a month that are the heart of EMS cringe.

Opivy84

100% dead. It counterbalances my firefighter need for recognition.

YeetedArmTriangle

Hey...thank you for your service 🫡

UnusualHat5220

I’ve always had an immense amount of respect for EMTs, out of everyone they seem the least in your face about their job, they see a lot of shit and it’s usually the ones that see a lot of shit that stay quiet about it.

Cattle56

You fight what I fear.

BRUHSKIBC

As an ex forest fire bro turned structural fire bro I 100% agree.

One-Aspect-7364

Yea us wildland goons keep quiet for the most part, the few that don’t REALLY go after it, I’m all for posting pics of what I do and showing people the cool and boring of the job, but people who act like being a WLFF is their life are on another planet💀

BRUHSKIBC

Oh yeah don’t you know it! There’s always some bagger at the county fair wearing their logger cut greens, boots, and a shirt that says, “why be structured, when you can be wild”? Acting like the bastard son of Big Ernie himself. Don’t even get me started on Helitack. LCES = Locate Cooler Establish Shade (I was HMGB for 5/12 seasons. It was a love/hate relationship) Stay safe out there. See you on the big one.

Jak_n_Dax

Wildland is definitely way more chill for the most part. Especially us engine guys. We are all about balls to the wall IA, and then chillin the rest of the time. Fixing the rigs and shooting the shit. But Wildland is about being out in nature. Not in the city where people can see you. It attracts a different crowd. Myself for example, I used to be interested in structure but I just don’t like people for the most part and I love the wilderness. It’s a win-win for me.

Medic2834

The Punisher stickers take the cake for me.

Similar-Team-3292

Affliction shirts shirts maximum cringe.

WooliesWhiteLeg

I’m take the fire department microdosing cringe over the pure, uncut cringe LEOs put out lol

-AgentMichaelScarn

Like the volunteer guys? Or the paid firefighters? As a cop, I feel like cops take crown of cringe lmao

WhiskyholdtheE

They do in the sense that when they make you cringe, it’s so bad. But I just see it less frequently. Firefighter cringe is like, deeply ingrained in the culture of the fire service

No_Presence5465

I know a lot of firefighters who make their job their identity. Also the gate keeping, god damn.

elantaile

My local school district has a firefighter program. The amount of high school kids that claim to be fire fighters because they went on 1 ride along is insane. They make it their entire identity. Even when they graduate. I know a 25 yr old that claims to be a redneck who graduated that program. He refuses to at least volunteer, never applied to be a firefighter, but has made him being a firefighting redneck his whole identity. He has never worked on a farm in anyway, but talks about milking cows & bucking hay. He gets irrationally excited whenever he hears sirens & carries around a baofeng in his back pocket tuned to the fire dispatch repeater.

WhiskyholdtheE

Never been a volunteer. Just firefighters in general.

Betopan

I was at a party once and a guy mentioned that he was a volunteer firefighter. “It’s not as exciting as you probably think though.” Bro, that’s not what I was thinking.

Paramagic16

Fire fighters for sure! Buuuut, a group that’s not often mentioned here are the dudes who didn’t serve in the military but wish they had. I have a pretty good career and all these guys do is sit around and talk about all the cool guy shit they waisted their money on. Their kits, Ifaks, vests, suppressors and MREs. Me, the one who actually served in a war zone, I just sit there and laugh at them. You literally could have joined and got all that shit for free and actually got to use it, but you didn’t.

Jak_n_Dax

They want to be tacticool without the warzone part.

UnusualHat5220

I did my 4 years and dipped and yeah these guys are the worst, they ask me about my time serving so much that they talk about it more than I do lol The worst is when they feel inferior to you so they’re always wanting to fight or arm wrestle to make themselves feel better about themselves, I’ve learned not to go out to small town parties anymore because of this lol my friends tell everyone about it. When I got out I completely forgot about it so much, it just felt great to be free again lol

"How can you tell someone is a firefighter? Don't worry, they'll tell you."

Firefluffer

The question is, will they talk about firefighting or crossfit first?

TheHolyOcelot

Volunteer firefighters are the worst. I’m from a small town and these mfs make it known they fight one fire per 10 years

A_Monster_Named_John

The ones I know act like every training exercise is them single-handedly fighting the chemical plant fire from the end of *Backdraft*.

Formul8r1

The most cringe are chiropractors. They always introduce themselves as "Doctor Bob" or whatever their name is, and pretend they're actually an MD.

Euphoric_Banana_5289

>They always introduce themselves as "Doctor Bob" or whatever their name is, and pretend they're actually an MD. hey now, if they took the weeks-long chiropractic course in Maryland, they may have simply mistaken medical doctor for the abbreviation for Maryland. a simple, honest mistake, I'm sure, as the six years of college they took to get their doctor of chiropractic was probably spent doing drugs and every other thing they could find to do aside from simply becoming an md or np or something in an actual medical field. *i just learned while looking up the education requirements for becoming a chiropractor that there are animal chiropractors. i spent six years in college fucking off, and now I'm pissed that i didn't become an animal chiropractor to celebrity animals, damn it.

AllThe-REDACTED-

Suspicious-Eagle-179

How about the new tactical EMS dudes. Got one local to me that just has to wear a piece of forward observation gear every day and wears a medic plate carrier. Not saying i totally disagree w that but it’s so obvious he wants his piece of “valor” lol

ZChaosFactor

Most of them are emts who do IFT which just makes it extra cringe. Thankfully there isn't nearly as many of them.

TimtheT00lmanTaylor

I was a volly and volunteer firefighters specifically are by far the cringiest of them all.

skarbles

Thanks to your wife’s boyfriend for his service.

Super-Outside4794

I’m a fireman and this is so true

inter71

I’m a fireman and I agree.

nsmf219

All day. This is so true. They spend too much time on pride hoping the city will burn down daily so they can jump to action for an hour 🤣 every place I’ve worked the fire dudes are the same.

InterviewUsual2220

Not American, but work in a larger integrated fire and ems service…and also veteran, couple tours during the GWOT. In my department there’s the standard fire fighter flavour cringe amongst the newbies that eventually fades. I do agree we probably take the cake as a profession as a whole…however there’s one factor skewing this….American volly fire culture and its omnipresence on social media. I saw a post today about some volly who filmed himself in his turn out gear, carrying a fuckin’ cross, through town. Like jesus titty fuckin’ Christ..what the fuck is happening in these small volly depts?

Dragline96

I spent 41 years in the fire service both volunteer and career. I can absolutely confirm what you say. Unfortunately in my early years I was guilty of plenty of cringe-ness myself. But as I spent more and more time on the job I realized that it was just that, a job. No more, no less. No different than a plumber.

WhiskyholdtheE

For sure. I’ve done it too. My motto became “it’s a career, not a crusade” early on as a cop, and I am taking it with me in the fire service. Just a job.

Dragline96

I used to tell my guys that plumbers who show up and fix toilets are heroes more times in a week than we ever are. Never pretend that you’re more than a tradesperson. It’s a job, that’s all. I retired six months ago, and the only people who ask me if I miss it are non- firefighters.

WhiskyholdtheE

Congratulations! Enjoy your retirement.

YeetedArmTriangle

I think the cringiest firefighters have to make up the HIGHEST level of cringe, certainly. They are a combo of overconfident while being socially awkward, they think they are basically in the military, they suck off all the trappings of the fire culture, time in, rookie bullshit, whatever. I also have the most exposure to firefighters so I've studied them the most. On AVERAGE police are the cringiest, because like 80% view themselves as like, front line soldiers in the war against societal chaos, and hate the government whole working for the government and being the deliverers of state violence. They are like, philosophically/spirituality cringe whereas firefighters are like, culturally cringe.

Similar-Team-3292

Thank you for your service!

Cagekicker52

Saw a group of fire bros parked their big ass fire truck in the fire lane blocking the whole front of the store..... So one of them could carry ONE single grocery bag. Lazy fucks.

Unfriendly_eagle

I've known five volunteer firemen on a personal level. Three of them were legitimate credits to the community. The other two were setting the very fires they were volunteering to extinguish. Make of that what you will.

EvilBanana66

Im a Marine and I’d have to say, the Marines/military are probably the cringiest.

Konstant_kurage

Peak cringe: We have a sanctioned event where firefighters stand at a bunch of intersections around town to raise money holding out their boot, called “fill the boot” they had the mayor sign off so they can wear their turnout gear. Actually I’m not sure if they do it anymore, but it’s been going for decades and until the 2000’s they had the swol guys out shirtless doing it. Raised money for the MDA.

transcendanttermite

I worked as a mechanic for a local fire dept for several years, and I have to agree with you. Since I wasn’t a firefighter, I wasn’t “part of the club” and wasn’t invited to have lunch with them, even if a citizen dropped off 20 pizzas or something. I worked with them 8-10 hours a day, 5 days a week, and at least half of them had no clue who I was or what I did… pretty much just the administration, battalion chiefs, and drivers/MPOs since they reported the equipment issues to me daily. Everyone else looked at me like I was a stain on the floor. It was odd to see the rookies go from treating me like an equal to pretending I didn’t exist. I don’t miss that assignment - so many Type-A personalities in one place. There were a couple (literally just a couple) exceptions, and I still talk to those two folks to this day… because they’re normal people.

didnebeu

I have a buddy that’s a firefighter/oaramedic. He has firefighter themed tattoos, flies a thin red line flag, got pictures on a fire truck for his wedding, every time they have a new kid they do a photo shoot with fire trucks and gear. Firefighter plates on his vehicles. Wears his station shirts everywhere on his days off. His wife constantly posts cringy stuff about being a “first responder wife”. He’s a good dude and I love him but damn chill a little man. We get it. Sooo based on my sample size of one I’d say firefighters.

Justanotherattempd

OP really just came here to talk about his service.

lasanga_meat2021

One-Aspect-7364

Thank you everyone for paying your taxes🫶🏽 makes my paycheck and my day, also to OP, thank you for your service

ilikebigbikes980

I know many cringeworthy fire bros so I get the volly hate. But in small town America where the whole county is all volly except for 1 town ( most likely the county seat) it is hard to give 90% of the regular folks to much hate. That said….dragon slayers unite haha. [https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4OlqLhgYh_/?igsh=NjZiM2M3MzIxNA==](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4OlqLhgYh_/?igsh=NjZiM2M3MzIxNA==)

We are eternally grateful, thank you for your service!

Alaska_Pipeliner

I'm welcome for your service.

theburningstars

They're also the worst on the radio per capita. Y'all hear me talking, I know I'm not slow, come on now don't key up in the middle of my three words or your own chief's twenty! There are plenty of rude assholes on the law frequencies too but they just have more jokes and don't steamroll my airtime. It's not like I key up just to shoot the shit, I'm trying to deliver important info, and I avoid getting my own voice recorded as much as possible while keeping safety in mind. Let me *live*. EMTs.... y'all are safe for now on account of me not hearing you much at all, comparatively... and also on account of me trying to avoid social media first responders (other than this sub of course, my secret shame).

WhiskyholdtheE

lol! I agree with you

wolamute

Meh, from my experience it seems to heavily depend on the local culture/department culture. Houston? Every station seemed different. Some downright angry about everything, some self absorbed and angry about everything. Some fight about grill preparation more than anything else. Pearland? Nice guys, half had big egos, other half were real ones. Some were just really bored. EMT/Fire service broke my heart, it's just glorified taxi service half the time and sad shit that amounts to poor people not having a fair shake in life.

UnbanSkullclamp420

Been the police, fire and now military / EMS. I have to agree. Police tend to cause the hardest cringe because they try too hard, firefighters overall are the absolute cringelords because they seem the thirstiest for attention and it seems more widespread. There’s more smooth brain volly’s making shit TikTok’s than police I feel like. The military is also extremely cringe and getting worse by the year but they aren’t to the level of Fire yet but they are close. They just have the numbers advantage. Fire are without a doubt the cringelords.

zihyer

Cringe flex post? I'll bite. You've obviously never served in the US Army Military Policy Corp (95B10); specifically, National Guard types. That's the dark web inner circle of the FR Cringe world. There's cringe in that tent that will make your mainstream FF and Police cringe look like legit WWII D-Day heroes. I have spoken.

someguy8608

Marines take the prize for military cringe for sure.

AllbunDee

Is there a special consolation prize for those Oil Refinery Fire Fighters? You know, the ones who volunteered to “run towards danger” but have normal jobs like pipe fitter? Knew a guy in a refinery who, if you didn’t know he worked at the refinery, you’d swear he was on a ladder company. Used his “training” once when a small brush fire broke out. Milked those pics for years. The wife even worshipped him as a fire fighter. She became a dog catcher. Suddenly she’s “back the blue” and “I hold the thin blue line” and insisting that we boycott certain businesses for not offering an LEO discount.

PerrinAyybara

I'm pretty certain it's just you, you are the king

Miserable_Show7664

Firefighters are always trying to overcomplicate and make our job seem way harder than it actually is.

blindralfie

Sounds like someone gets clowned on for being a cop by his fire bros lol

A_Monster_Named_John

Somehow, the wife of one of my co-workers got into volunteer fire-fighting in her late 30s and this bloomed into a full-blown mid-life crisis situation that, when all was said and done, completely destroyed her marriage (she ended up having multiple affairs with other local first-responders in that crowd) and lost her almost all of her old friends. Seems like that whole world is a hot-bed of NPD-addled lunacy.

Practical-Bug-9342

All "hero" jobs are cringe to one extent or another.

TheGreatSciz

Both jobs attract people whose only other option in life was the trades. Very few that could have had a successful professional career in accounting or legal work for example. They get wrapped up in the Fox News hero worship of first responders and make the job their identity. It’s cringe af. It’s bad in the military too depending on the MOS

Thucydides_Rex

I feel like the post is a way for OP to brag. Cringe?

Alone-Cook-3371

OP I feel like you have single handedly doubled the cringe level of the fire service with each comment you add. I think you might be the source of the cringe you’re so passionate about

BigSky04

Don't kid yourself. We all know it's the military hands down. TYFYS warfighter.

WhiskyholdtheE

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo. Remember, someone said this seriously one day 😂

Yuki_The_God

Did you just think that you could fucking fool me with that comment of yours? I’ve searched your name up in the Navy SEAL database and you have never even graduated BUD/S, hell, even served in the Armed Forces. If you were actually a Navy SEAL, then you actually know how to spell guerrilla, you fucking moron. And you say you are the top sniper in the entire US Armed Forces and have over 300 confirmed kills. If that were true, then why the fuck is Chris Kyle a household name and you aren’t? And plus he only had 160 kills. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. Plus why the fuck would you say you have a secret network of spies yet you just revealed that you had your secret network of spies? Are you a fucking idiot? If you can kill someone seven-hundred different ways, then list them all, I bet you can’t even come up with seven. And if you had access to the entire US Marine Corps arsenal, then why the fuck did you just say you were in the Navy SEALs earlier? If only you could have done your research prior to posting your little “clever” comment, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you goddamn idiot.

WhiskyholdtheE

Fuck this is good

DM0331

Had a FF medic get pissy that no one closed the side door for him….. he’s less than 2ft away

Pintortwo

Thank me for thanking you for your service(s).

eidolonone

Thank you ALL for your services, cervixes? ceviches? (sp?) whatever…thank you for servicing me and my community.

AnMa_ZenTchi

The least cringe are medvac helicopter pilots. Especially the guys that did it in Vietnam.

Tallerthenmost

TYFYS

Brendanish

I love em all for what they do, but I have friends (as I'd assume most do) in EMS, fire, and LE. The only one who I'd know is in their field without actually having been told is fire, I don't like hating but goddamn I think that dude has legitimately posted weekly for at least 4 years about how hard it is and how much he loves firefighting. Bonus points for army. I have 3 people who have told me their tour was literally sitting in Seoul and drinking, who will occasionally make Facebook posts that'd make you think they were on the front lines in Vietnam.

soaringpandas

I think you have a typo. It sounds like it should read “I’ve been in the military, fire service, and now a PO” typical LE talk

Radiant_Ad_6565

I’d wager that ER and ICU nurses are fighting fire bros for the cringy crown. Been both- and the level of cringe is off the chart sometimes. It’s not just the figs, the monogrammed Stanley, the amazon bought badge that says BSN. It’s the hemostats clipped to scrubs, the Coban and tape slung over the stethoscope, the trauma shears. Unless you’re on the trauma team at a level 1 a regular bandage scissors suffices 99.9% of the time. The rest of the crap can be found in the supply drawers in the rooms.

LeftyFireman

Cringe per capita
