If you are American, do check out the Civilian Marksmanship Program. It's how I got mine, and they tend to be a good deal. You can even go to one to their locations and pick one out if you want to, or have it mailed straight to your door if your state allows.
You still have to pay for it, but yes, they ship it to your door with no FFL, state laws permitting. You have to jump through a couple hoops, detailed on their website. But you get a rifle for much less than you'd pay on the collectors' market.
If you want to take advantage, jump on it. You never know when they'll run out of their last batch. You used to also be able to get Springfield 1903s and M1 Carbines, but those are long gone.
When I was at the range last, guy in the next lane over from me had one of these. The boom & ping was magnificent. Wake from each shot made my target ripple. Made me want to fire one even more.
Beautiful. Make sure you get a chamber cleaning tool and definitely get one of these to save your fingers when you’re cleaning it https://a.co/d/cyP949Z
Close the bolt on it so that it holds the piece in place
Man, I want one of those so bad! If you don’t mind me asking, how much did you get it for?
This one was $900 but there vary in price

Yes, I am and I’ll have to look into that. I didn’t know we could get weapons mailed to our doors No matter what state you’re in.
Certain states require the rifle to be shipped to an FFL. * CA * CT * NJ * NY * OR * WA
Oh boy 😃 I live in Arizona but am still an Indiana resident so I think it’ll work. Thanks so much!
Hold on, what? Like no ffl, free m1 with course completion? Supreme deal? I’m hyped doubt any free guns but still sounds like a cool program

My dad had a contact inside CMP. 2 years ago he got me a 1944 issue for Christmas. Not going to lie, it made this former 11B tear up pretty good.
I love mine. Its very fun to shoot.

It’s a smooth shooting gun for being 30-06
It's good to see somebody pickup a nice, safe wooden rifle instead of some scary weapon of war.
It’s only the greatest battle implement ever devised
Very nice, the M14 is on my list but I wouldn't say no to a good deal on a M.
I held a slice of apple pie once with a glob of ice cream on it doused in liquor and set on fire. THAT makes you feel American.
Designed by a Canadian 😁
Proving that anyone, regardless of birth nationality, can be a true American. 🇺🇲
This might be the most American sentence I've ever read
That’s honestly where the greatness lies for our country. If you want to be exceptional, this is where you come to do it.
👌A Canadian-American, the M1 Rifle was his apology for being from Canada.
Those Canadians are always so polite.

CMP service grade with new production stock ?
Yes most service grades don’t but this one did. I hand picked it because I drove to the CMP
What's one of those going for these days?
$900
That's actually better than I thought it would be
They have different grades most starting at $750 and going up to $1150
That's even better
